I'll check it out but I did play an oddworld game on ps3 and did not like it. It also was probably more of a case of I did not care to play it (got it off ps+).

I have an entire list. Not even worth dredging up but I'll just state the one I always get shit for. Resi 4. I do like SH1 but I so find it mildly amusing everything bad about the series is shit rehashed from 2 which is honest to God an over rated game with no stakes and massive plot grievances and contrivance
The tank controls are tricky initially, but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of it. The puzzles are great because they’re difficult and it feels rewarding to complete them unlike in modern games. What’s really the selling point is the atmosphere, but considering that everyone (even people who haven’t played the games) is familiar with silent hill, the story and setting lose its edge.
I think it's fair to criticize SH1 gameplay wise. monsters mostly come down to either trivially running away or stunlocking them with one of the good melee weapons. the only map that attempts any sort of route strategy is the school, everything else is pretty much just a linear gauntlet of one off rooms. the puzzles help but I think it's the sort of game you kind of have to appreciate at a higher level as a neat adventure instead of the direct play being good.
It's not better than RE but I thought it was an interesting experience. Great atmosphere and direction, and exploring the town was compelling. Did not enjoy SH2 as much.
Gameplay is trash as usual for survival horror. Everything else, the soundtrack, graphics, themes, FMVs is pretty amazing.
