Avitus turning traitor overall wasn't really a surprise, the dude's dialogue just screams "I am heretic material". But i didn't see it coming because on my first chaos rising playthrough I did it fully pure and got martellus as the traitor. So when I went to retribution and saw his dumbass standing next to diomedes I was extremely surprised.
Avitus' betrayal isn't even about becoming a heretic since he doesn't put his faith in the dark gods. He simply lost hope and meaning in his actions and that had him despair.
Being a heretic is not about worshiping Chaos, it is about rejecting the Imperial Creed. Or do you think when Inquisitors label people who ally with the Eldar (at the wrong time) heretics it is because of Chaos worship?
I'm pretty sure the writers use the 'heretic' wrong on purpose as a joke. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Horus Heresy is about apostasy (rejecting the Emperor and worshipping someone else) and the Age of Apostasy is about heresy (Vandire introducing his own version of the Imperial Creed).
He is the perfect traitor
On the flip side, who's the worst traitor?
Mine vote goes to Tarkus, they try and make it as if his betrayal is very tragic...
and then we find out he betrayed them for a magic Bolter and it immediately becomes moronic
Hey man, going nuts over a bolter that can one shot chaos dreadnoughts ain't nothing to frick with. That's some necron tier firepower in a standard bolter
Being angry at incompetent leadership is somewhat understandable. Even in the mission where everyone actually lets their inner thoughts out, Cyrus describes (You) as the commander like this: >He leads us in circles
So in Cyrus' mind should he betray, only Angelos and Thule were good commanders. Angelos was deemed a renegade, Thule is stuck in a dreadnought chasis, he doubts you, sees Diomedes as a puppet, and Kyras obviously being behind it all.
Probably Martellus, because he's the guy who fixed up the machinery and shit that allowed you to uncover the traitor in the first place. So him basically revealing himself for no reason is kinda moronic
On the other hand, Martellus did suspiciously survive what should have been a certain death and spent a long time stranded by himself in wilderness, that does smell of potential chaos corruption
Tarkus was corrupted by a demon inhabiting the bolter, it's not like it's out of left field for 40k. A primarch, Fulgrim had the same thing happen to him. He got fricked by a demon possessing a sword.

Also all the ships look the fricking same.
I tried playing through this again as Chaos and I got hard stuck against the Imperial Guard. While I was fricking up the Orks and Necron they were on their side of the board building up a moronicly powerful retinue of honour guard that I have no hope of standing up against, especially since Chaos' selection of honour guard seem to suck complete wiener. Dude's spawning in with basically an entire army and multiple bases wherever I attack.
I really Want a game where necrons are relevant, with important named characters like imotekh or even the silent king fricking shit up.
It's usually the other way around, characters in these games are usually made just for the game and then they get featured in books, like that tau warrior who falls to khorne in the book and has ptsd etc.
Well obviously, why would you want to mess around with someone else's OC when you can have fun with your own characters and not be restricted in any way?
As a teen, I loved Gorgutz and Orks in general like crazy. But now I find myself being a huge Chaos fan. Anyone else experience a major shift of favourite race as you got older?
Always thought the Eldar were lame af as a teen, liked the more metal races more, nowdays I can appreciate the sleek designs and the dying, hopeless race angle more. Still love my ORKS ORKS ORKS though.
I never autistically yell Ork phrases while I game though
Back when I first got into the universe (I was around 10 years old) I liked Tau the most, since they seemed like more of a good guys.
I do remember really liking the Necrons too though, the idea of just completely eradicating all of life to feed vampiric space gods felt extremely bleak and sinister to me, they were more harrowing and captivating than any other of the "evil factions" (>inb4 no good guys in warhammer). Probably one of the reasons I kinds disliked their later retconns.
Later on I became a chaos gay though. It's still probably my favourite faction, but nowadays I have a soft spot for all of them really
Not him but using green stuff or better yet proper modelling clay is not as hard as you think and once you get good at it you can literally recreate and effect you want. Especially making your own molds.
Ah, I really have to learn to use this stuff eventually, never got around to it despite painting for around 10 years on and off
Not a prolific/skilled painter so I cant help too much. What I can do instead is link you a guide I saw for that sort of stuff. He's got a bit of a dull voice, but the technique is very good for giving the illusion of scales. It takes a bit of getting used to watering down contrasts and having a good tip on a detail brush to get the effect.

I loved the tanks and various vehicles of the IG when I was young, before my wandering eye went to the Tau. I fricking love their heavier unit designs, the old Broadside with the shoulder railguns is still the best design in the whole franchise in my eyes.. I blame a cross infection from watching Gundam for the change.
Used to be a massive IG gay but over the last decade i've really started to like Orkz. Both are expensive horde armies that are a b***h to paint so i'm fricked either way, but I'm really happy with my boyz in green.
They look really good but I would add 1 more colour like white maybe? White and black checkers even. Just to break up some of the larger areas that are fully black. It kind of makes them look flat. The skin looks really nice though
I used to like chaos marines as a kid. Now I like knightly marines, and basically are an imperium fan, plus I like converting and kitbashing inquisition stuff. That's my favorite part.
Liked Spacemarines, took the Ork pill, they are fun to play and kitbash. I dont care if I lose, throwing that many dice for attacks is fun.
Wanting to start collecting Skitarii because I always wanted to make a helghast adjacent army and they kindof fit the aesthetic without having to do a lot of work to something like IG for the same look.
Not sure about the general opinion, but it always felt a bit disappointing and half assed that all the factions get basically the exact same missions with just some small changes, I expected each campaign to be at least somewhat more unique, especially that they're pretty short anyway >Or would another fleshed out space marine campaign be preferred?
I would prefer a fleshed out campaign with anything BUT space marines. Not that I don't like them, but they already got their spotlight. A DoW 2 style campaign with the same amount of content and character personality, but with, say, orks, eldar or chaos marines as protagonists would be absolutely amazing
Actually I recall the devs stating in the very first DoW2 reveals that an ork campaign was actually planned, but it got scrapped
It's a pity that the champion's voice is so much more annoying than the standard chaos marine.
Same with how the goddamn priest takes precedent over the Imperial Guard general, though at least you can get the bodyguard in campaign to mitigate that
Never really been a problem for me, battles that require more screen space than you have are very rare (at least without mods) and you can move the camera very quickly. Also you can hide the UI by clicking the icon in the middle, during battles you only really have to click around on the units anyway, other than launching an occasional ability
Uuuh, what exactly seems to be the problem with them? It's just your completely regular isometric camera with lots of manoeuvrability and easy controls. And UI... you literally just click on what you want to select, why would there be something wrong about it?
I must be getting old, since I'm beginning to see people complaining about things I always thought completely normal and can't even understand what their problem with them could be
I have a soft spot for the RPG and Blood Bowl, but overall I definitely prefer 40k. Would probably buy a few WHF units just to paint them if you could still get them easily (The Old World never ever)
AoS is utter shit though
Anyone member' relicnewsforums? Where did everyone go from there? Just private chat groups? So many great tutorials were lost with the site and it was a great place to get encouragement for in progress mods.
>Redownload Elite Mod because I hate myself >Play a practice round and watch two 3v3s >The callouts start coming back
Also why the frick did Warp Spider Exarch get a commander slot while the Autarch exists?
To counterbalance the endless jobbing on the traitors during the heresy, plus to further establish Horus as the biggest bad that only the Emperor could contend with. Shame he had to be one to establish the Worf Effect. Compared to the other primarchs that got killed, Sanguinius was easily the best out of the bunch but that made him a prime candidate.

They could have won. The problem was nearly every traitor primarch was going batshit insane by the end of it. The only relatively sane ones left were Pertie and Omegon. The rest were schizo and fricking off to do random things. Even Horus was getting mindfricked by all the chaos gods.

I know but I assumed they were, despite the symbolism, unrelated. I should read that book.
I would argue that wasting lots of time, lives and resources to genocide a race of particularly murderous bugs that occupied a planet with nothing of value on it and were incapable of space travel - just because he got mad at them does classify as doing shit wrong, but it's still nothing compared to frickups of his brothers and it was partially Horus' decision as well
>Woe betide he who ignores my warning or breaks faith with me. He shall be my enemy, and I will visit such destruction upon him and all his followers that, until the end of all things, he shall rue the day he turned from my light.

They don't have one, they're a chapter, not a legion
Unless you mean what legion's geneseed they got in them. That's unknown, but rumoured to be Magnus's Thousand Sons
The gene seed has nothing to do with either of those things and the Empire probably had some backup samples from before the Heresy that could have been used on the Blood Ravens
The dust monster thing happened later. A common theory is that some loyalist remain of Thousand Son weren't on their homeworld when the Wolves burned it and got secretly turned into a loyalist chapter once the heresy over.
The Flesh change happened twice, once prior to Magnus and again after the heresy, which caused Ahriman to accidentally the legion.
It's not impossible that the Cordiae cult were out of the influence of both
DoW3 states that; Angelos and Diomedes both survived Retribution. Jonah also managed to survive. Tarkus also survived but was only featured in the comic. Ronahn rrtrieved Taldeer's spirit stone, and is not only her brother but also her twin. Macha also has a sort of frudge against Angelos. Gorgutz won Soulstorm, got bored, and snuck into another WAAAGH!!! to krump its warboss and get a new fancy pointy stick.
Dawn of War 3 is actually really fun but because the fans of the series are so moronic and blinded by their nostalgia for DoW1, the devs have given up on 3 due to the massive negative backlash of autists, and we'll never get more than three races I've yet to hear any proper arguments or criticism of 3 that doesn't involve rose tinted goggles for the first game, be my guest
I made a thread about it on gamereplays forums back in the day complaining about the force commanders Ben Affleck hair, it became a huge thread and a Relic community dev responded. After that it got turned into the bald scarred guy. It was all my doing.
Depends on the story, power levels in 40k are extremely inconsistent and dependant on what's needed for the narrative at the moment
Theoretically 300 orks should be quite a lot, at least in terms of brute strength, but marines can regularly plow through that anyway if the plot requires it
Was sent on a penitent crusade for not keeping his apes in line. He'll meet Titus from Space Marine, and their shenanigans will be a bro-op prequel expansion to Space Marine 2.
>which implies he was a good boy
aren't Renegades.. bad? I mean some could still be fighting for the Emperor free from Terra, but most implications are bad
>GW fricked with chaos land raiders datasheet because they were too lazy to write one rule change
How god damn inept does their team have to be to not change one rule so land raiders don't immediately fricking die rolling a 1 with plasma. All that had to do was change the profile so they took 1MW instead. God damn.
It's a pretty good space marine story, gameplay is enjoyable, but it does get repetitive. I'd say it's worth it, but don't force yourself into it if you don't like it.
good timing. i'm literally exposing myself to 40k for the first time ever right now with this overview series. it's fricking cool. what's the best games? i was gonna try total warhammer but apparently that's warhammer and not 40k which is a different thing?
"Warhammer" is a fantasy series. Think LOTR.
It's been rebooted into "Warhammer Age of Sigmar" which is LOTR + a bunch of copyrightable new lore and factions
Warhammer 40k is the scifi spinoff that's become more popular than the original
>but apparently that's warhammer and not 40k which is a different thing
Long story short it goes like this:
Games Workshop had a fairly successful fantasy universe called Warhammer which was a setting of their miniature wargame, as well as a few novels and a roleplaying game
In 1987 they've decided to release, partially as a satirical joke, a spin off universe that was basically Warhammer but in space, with lots of blatant references to all sorts of popular sci-fi tropes and media
The fans liked it so much that it stayed and gradually became its own thing, losing many aspects that were copied from Warhammer Fantasy or ripped off from other settings and gaining more original lore and a more serious tone. That's WH40k.
Warhammer Fantasy still existed separately from it and was fairly popular for a long time after that, but eventually the wargame stopped selling well so Games Workshop made an in-universe apocalyptic story, killed the game and re-released it as "Age of Sigmar" a much more high fantasy and epic version of the universe with a new wargame for it. Most fans hate it. It's doing better than WHF commercially, but still not very good I think and there is still a lot of original WHF fans around. 40k is still going strong though.
Have fun getting into it, it's a cool universe. If you like fantasy original Warhamer is also worth checking out
>"Why do I still live? What more do you want from me? I gave everything I had to you, to them. Look what they have made of our dream. This bloated, rotten carcass of an empire is driven not by reason and hope, but by fear, hate and ignorance. Better that we had all burned in the fire of Horus' ambition than lived to see this."
>Even as he said it, Guilliman heard the lie in his words. Amongst his brothers, none had been more idealistic than Roboute Guilliman. None had envisioned a brighter future, not just for Mankind but also for the warriors of the Legiones Astartes. That flame of hope had been a part of him for as long as he had lived. Even now, as it was smothered by darkness and woe, Guilliman realised that his flame endured.
‘There’s hope still,’ he told himself, turning back to the window and placing one armoured palm against it. He stared out at the work gangs, labouring to repair the damage of war, and the Ultramarines stood proud and determined upon the ramparts. They had been born into this dark millennium, and had known nothing but the hardship, suffering and despair of unending conflict. Yet still they struggled on unbowed, despite the countless enemies ranged against them. Guilliman had seen a better age, one of hope and triumph. What right had he, a superhuman son of the Emperor himself, to show any less strength and courage than his followers born in darkness?
Guilliman had seen what Humanity could achieve. Moreover, he knew what fruits Cawl’s labours had borne beneath the surface of Mars. He believed that a better future for the Imperium was still possible. But only if those who tormented Mankind were first defeated.
‘All of this misery,’ said Guilliman. ‘All of this suffering and pain. It is not the doing of Humanity, but of those who have betrayed us. Too long have the pawns of Chaos dictated our species’ fate. That must end.’
Guilliman felt new strength fill him. Inspired by it, the Primarch took his pain, and his desolation, and locked them away deep within his mind. But his rage he kept. That, he would have use for.
Later there would be time to mourn, to reason, to plan anew. Now was the time to fight, and to make his father’s enemies pay for every horror they had inflicted upon the Imperium.
God I love old 40k art
Games Workshop has been entirely taken over by its marketing team. All we've been getting for nearly a decade is Ultramarines vs. Chaos wank.

IMO the worst is cyrus. He barely has any lines for the reveal and mission itself and his excuse for doing it feels half baked.
Being angry at incompetent leadership is somewhat understandable. Even in the mission where everyone actually lets their inner thoughts out, Cyrus describes (You) as the commander like this:
>He leads us in circles

Oh and of course, getting like 3-5 companies annihilated.

Alpharious... maybe... probably?
Probably Martellus, because he's the guy who fixed up the machinery and shit that allowed you to uncover the traitor in the first place. So him basically revealing himself for no reason is kinda moronic
On the other hand, Martellus did suspiciously survive what should have been a certain death and spent a long time stranded by himself in wilderness, that does smell of potential chaos corruption

Tarkus was corrupted by a demon inhabiting the bolter, it's not like it's out of left field for 40k. A primarch, Fulgrim had the same thing happen to him. He got fricked by a demon possessing a sword.
The tragic part of Tarkus falling is that he truly believes he is doing right by his battle brothers, right until the end.

I liked the imperial guard and oldcrons previously as a teen. Now I collect Alpha Legion CSM and Ulthwe Eldar. I have no clue why I shifted factions.
Any tips on doing the scales effect on armour without buying overpriced forge world crap? Will probably be painting an alpha legionnaire soon
Not him but using green stuff or better yet proper modelling clay is not as hard as you think and once you get good at it you can literally recreate and effect you want. Especially making your own molds.
Ah, I really have to learn to use this stuff eventually, never got around to it despite painting for around 10 years on and off
Thanks a lot senpai, will watch it in free time
They look good anon, nice work!
Buy recasting of the overpriced forgeworld models
I loved the tanks and various vehicles of the IG when I was young, before my wandering eye went to the Tau. I fricking love their heavier unit designs, the old Broadside with the shoulder railguns is still the best design in the whole franchise in my eyes.. I blame a cross infection from watching Gundam for the change.
I liked IGs, then Tau, always a bit of SM but now I'm full Necron to the point I started collecting. Modelwise theirs are fantastic.
Used to be a massive IG gay but over the last decade i've really started to like Orkz. Both are expensive horde armies that are a b***h to paint so i'm fricked either way, but I'm really happy with my boyz in green.
Forgot pic because, like my Boyz, I am moronic

Was the 'every race is playable' campaign in Retribution well received? Or would another fleshed out space marine campaign be preferred?
Definitely. Lots of replayablility in Retribution. Space Marines are nice but giving everyone a bit of play is better for most.
Not sure about the general opinion, but it always felt a bit disappointing and half assed that all the factions get basically the exact same missions with just some small changes, I expected each campaign to be at least somewhat more unique, especially that they're pretty short anyway
>Or would another fleshed out space marine campaign be preferred?
I would prefer a fleshed out campaign with anything BUT space marines. Not that I don't like them, but they already got their spotlight. A DoW 2 style campaign with the same amount of content and character personality, but with, say, orks, eldar or chaos marines as protagonists would be absolutely amazing
Actually I recall the devs stating in the very first DoW2 reveals that an ork campaign was actually planned, but it got scrapped
>SANITY IS FOR THE WEAK
>DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?
It's a pity that the champion's voice is so much more annoying than the standard chaos marine.
Same with how the goddamn priest takes precedent over the Imperial Guard general, though at least you can get the bodyguard in campaign to mitigate that
How do i overcome the UI and camera in DoW1? I literally cant enjoy it because of the clunkiness ooooooohh the clunkiness.
i know there are camera mods, but i dont know anything about UI mods.
Other than the tooltip flat-out lying half the time, what exactly is wrong with it?
40% of the screen is covered
Never really been a problem for me, battles that require more screen space than you have are very rare (at least without mods) and you can move the camera very quickly. Also you can hide the UI by clicking the icon in the middle, during battles you only really have to click around on the units anyway, other than launching an occasional ability
Uuuh, what exactly seems to be the problem with them? It's just your completely regular isometric camera with lots of manoeuvrability and easy controls. And UI... you literally just click on what you want to select, why would there be something wrong about it?
I must be getting old, since I'm beginning to see people complaining about things I always thought completely normal and can't even understand what their problem with them could be
Mods.
>Those are Eldar? I thought they'd be taller.
edit that pic with a commissar in the back aiming a gun at his head.
IT IS THE BANEBLAAAAAAADDDDDEEEEEE!!!!!
An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded
I just want Dawn of Wars II: 2.
Elite mod is good tho.
Should i reinstall dawn of war 1 ? Any cool mods released recently?
fantasy is better
it's alright, but i love guns n humans far too much to enjoy fantasy more than 40k.
empire is human and has guns
bretonnia is what the real ones play, though
soon, brother, soon
This, shame you can't buy the rulebooks or 99% of the models anymore lmao
I have a soft spot for the RPG and Blood Bowl, but overall I definitely prefer 40k. Would probably buy a few WHF units just to paint them if you could still get them easily (The Old World never ever)
AoS is utter shit though
>AoS is utter shit though
yes it is
Part of me wants to like AoS because it's high cosmic fantasy bullshit, but man it is really fricking poorly done high cosmic fantasy bullshit.
>Blood Bowl
Your taste is impeccable and you are my brother
Anyone member' relicnewsforums? Where did everyone go from there? Just private chat groups? So many great tutorials were lost with the site and it was a great place to get encouragement for in progress mods.

Also why the frick did Warp Spider Exarch get a commander slot while the Autarch exists?
Give us your shinies.
No. Get in my tesseract.
literally hive mind
Where the frick is our Trazyn game where we maintain his frick huge museum and go hunting for new relics?
I just finished listening to the infinite and divine last weekend.
I want Bully with Necrons where you spend 10,000 years planning a prank.
So who is the magpies primarch?
The one primarch who did nothing wrong of course.
that's not sanguinius
The only thing he did majorly wrong was trying to redeem Horus when he was already too far gone.
why the frick did he have to fricking die, bros
To counterbalance the endless jobbing on the traitors during the heresy, plus to further establish Horus as the biggest bad that only the Emperor could contend with. Shame he had to be one to establish the Worf Effect. Compared to the other primarchs that got killed, Sanguinius was easily the best out of the bunch but that made him a prime candidate.
they fell to chaos
of course they fricking lost
They could have won. The problem was nearly every traitor primarch was going batshit insane by the end of it. The only relatively sane ones left were Pertie and Omegon. The rest were schizo and fricking off to do random things. Even Horus was getting mindfricked by all the chaos gods.
this is what happens when you go on chaos
fricking worthless ass losers
like that one seethe homosexual who got terrrified of the terminator marine
Frick those fistggers, fricking autistic frickers building fortress
I genuinely believe if Sanguinius was genderswapped to a woman but otherwise stayed identical, his fanbase would explode.
Sanguinius is already perfect and genderbent.
Come one, Celestine is totally his daughter
I never thought of this but I'd be for it. She is mega cute.
she literally has angel wings
I know but I assumed they were, despite the symbolism, unrelated. I should read that book.
I would argue that wasting lots of time, lives and resources to genocide a race of particularly murderous bugs that occupied a planet with nothing of value on it and were incapable of space travel - just because he got mad at them does classify as doing shit wrong, but it's still nothing compared to frickups of his brothers and it was partially Horus' decision as well
>Woe betide he who ignores my warning or breaks faith with me. He shall be my enemy, and I will visit such destruction upon him and all his followers that, until the end of all things, he shall rue the day he turned from my light.
hE diD nOtHiNg wROnG
He fricked up the Emperor's endgame for Mankind, but he did nothing wrong.
>gets tricked into following Chaos
>Biggest bro of all the traitor primarchs, even though Tzeentch is the biggest butthole god
>primarch
They don't have one, they're a chapter, not a legion
Unless you mean what legion's geneseed they got in them. That's unknown, but rumoured to be Magnus's Thousand Sons
>They don't have one, they're a chapter, not a legion
thats not right. they're still descended from one. every chapter is.
All of them, the magpies claim all of them.
>All of them, the magpies claim all of them.
They got clones of every primarch stashed away. Even the lost ones. Just for safe keeping of course.
I like that it not just a normal Custodes armor but the armor of one of the Custodes with big E on the final battle with Horus
Magnus, the amount of librarians is proof of this.
It makes the most sense, except for them neither being goddamn dust monsters or having flesh change
It's Lorgar.
They used Geneseed.
The Flesh change happened twice, once prior to Magnus and again after the heresy, which caused Ahriman to accidentally the legion.
It's not impossible that the Cordiae cult were out of the influence of both
I love(hate) how this is a thing in the chapters lore but not in game. at all. not even in the campaign.
Samus Aran

No
Both mods are good
>Play DoW2

How do you guys feel about the fact that Eldar is the canon campaign for Retribution
like I never remember which xpac of 2 is which.
does not exist
Is that what Dawn of War 3 set as the canon? Because if so I don't acknowledge anything that came from that trash
DoW3 states that;
Angelos and Diomedes both survived Retribution. Jonah also managed to survive. Tarkus also survived but was only featured in the comic.
Ronahn rrtrieved Taldeer's spirit stone, and is not only her brother but also her twin. Macha also has a sort of frudge against Angelos.
Gorgutz won Soulstorm, got bored, and snuck into another WAAAGH!!! to krump its warboss and get a new fancy pointy stick.
taldeer is all over 3 as le strong female warrior mary sue
Bro she's a Wraithknight.
IRRC it just ends with them killing the demon prince (like all of them do) and recovering a farseer's soul gem, so it's kind of a huge nothing
in the grim darkness of the far future there is only narrative stagnation
I'd much rather have that than the bullshit that is their current lore "progression"
MY SOCKS PROVE MY WORTH
Dawn of War 3 is actually really fun but because the fans of the series are so moronic and blinded by their nostalgia for DoW1, the devs have given up on 3 due to the massive negative backlash of autists, and we'll never get more than three races
I've yet to hear any proper arguments or criticism of 3 that doesn't involve rose tinted goggles for the first game, be my guest
tldr it was released unfinished and disappointing in just about every aspect possible, then again so was CoH2 which was salvaged
>Martellus
in 10 years time people will start to look back and say DoW3 is a cult classic with inevitable hodgepodge apocalypse mod
3 had a way better modding community than it deserved wanting to fix the game but it's all abandoned now
what happened to Hair Gel after DoW2 and DLCs?
I made a thread about it on gamereplays forums back in the day complaining about the force commanders Ben Affleck hair, it became a huge thread and a Relic community dev responded. After that it got turned into the bald scarred guy. It was all my doing.
Went on a penitent crusade or whatever their called
As I recall him and Thaddeus went on a crusade.
Diomedes became a Chaplain.
Everybody else remained with the main Blood Ravens force.
Is 300 orks really that many?
Or am I just brain broken by the games?
For four dudes, kinda.
depends on what kind of Orks we are talking about
Assault Squad lose to Stormboyz in direct hand to hand combat
Doesn't seem to be a problem for Titus
Depends on the story, power levels in 40k are extremely inconsistent and dependant on what's needed for the narrative at the moment
Theoretically 300 orks should be quite a lot, at least in terms of brute strength, but marines can regularly plow through that anyway if the plot requires it
Marines could take 300 boyz fairly easily with a good position, if they've got the ammo.
It's the other types that would be an issue
Was sent on a penitent crusade for not keeping his apes in line.
He'll meet Titus from Space Marine, and their shenanigans will be a bro-op prequel expansion to Space Marine 2.
>spoiler
kino
Kyras sent him to exile, which implies he was a good boy
>which implies he was a good boy
aren't Renegades.. bad? I mean some could still be fighting for the Emperor free from Terra, but most implications are bad
Well Kyras was a heretic. A heretic branding someone a renegade probably means they aren't really a renegade.
The fact it was Kyras who did it makes it pretty likely he was actually pure
...gussy

How god damn inept does their team have to be to not change one rule so land raiders don't immediately fricking die rolling a 1 with plasma. All that had to do was change the profile so they took 1MW instead. God damn.
> immediately fricking die rolling a 1 with plasma
Is picrel worth playing through? I have always dropped it at one point or another, never finished it.
not really just play cr/ret
The campaign is worth at least one playthrough
It's a pretty good space marine story, gameplay is enjoyable, but it does get repetitive. I'd say it's worth it, but don't force yourself into it if you don't like it.
good timing. i'm literally exposing myself to 40k for the first time ever right now with this overview series. it's fricking cool. what's the best games? i was gonna try total warhammer but apparently that's warhammer and not 40k which is a different thing?
Dawn of War 1 + expansions + Dawn of War 2 + Expansions form a cohesive story. It's a good introduction.
ok ty anon here's my dog
"Warhammer" is a fantasy series. Think LOTR.
It's been rebooted into "Warhammer Age of Sigmar" which is LOTR + a bunch of copyrightable new lore and factions
Warhammer 40k is the scifi spinoff that's become more popular than the original
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade is the best, I think
>but apparently that's warhammer and not 40k which is a different thing
If you like fantasy original Warhamer is also worth checking out
I literally skipped every campaign in 1 because the base game (barebone, no mod) is kinda bad
Winter Assault's campaign is fun
Dark Crusade is also pretty short and sweet
>Moreover, he knew what fruits Cawl’s labours had borne beneath the surface of Mars
Basedesarius Cawl, saving the day again.
Is it ever explained anywhere how the frick Space Marines are supposed to do basic manoeuvres like, I dunno, raise their arms above their heads?
The frickhueg pauldrons have mostly been phased out and it's all sci-fi tech anyway so it just works (trademark).
God why the frick is Choas so fricking cringe?
People like this write Chaos stories
le loser eternal faction
Who asked you pal?
the homosexual loserdom of choas
?
If you're hanging out around Khorne's throne you're not out there getting blood and skulls, seems like a bad place to be.
Khornes got a couple orks fighting near the river of blood in an eternal conflict with his lesser demons iirc
God I love old 40k art
Games Workshop has been entirely taken over by its marketing team. All we've been getting for nearly a decade is Ultramarines vs. Chaos wank.
God, imagine the shitty art if Battlefleet Gothic got a new release.

I do all that and I do like it though?
I want to talk about DoW2, bought it during the Steam sales
