It's a composite of a scene from The Campaign where Will Ferrell punches a baby.
In the original Captain Marvel bit she's punching a Kree disguised as an old lady.

yeah, a great miracle that your baby survived a few more years after the fricking terminal brain cancer diagnosis, if only the miracle had gotten there earlier so your kid wouldnt have fricking cancer at all. what a sick fricking joke religion is.

How do you get religion as the extension of his suffering and not the medical science that made the life extending drugs and therapies?
Wife gets dementia, dude starts drinking then gets a job as a fire lookout to get away of it all. During the game you don't know all the details so you can try flirting with the girl on the other side of the radio while you investigate the glowBlack person mystery then in the end it's revealed the 'mystery' is a previous fire watcher whose son died and went crazy with the message being "you can't run away of your past/what you've done" so the radio girl tells you to go back to your sick soon-to-die wife as you evacuate the forest.
Never heard of this game before. I went to check out the Steam reviews for it and found a couple of people sperging out at length about the dev's audacity to make a segment of this game center around the way he used his faith in Christianity to cope with his kid's death.
>That was until the Greens, specifically Amy, began to use religion as a crutch. While this is obviously their story, and it would have not served them well to leave out the ways they coped, for me I could not relate to these parts. I found myself cringing at every piece of narrative that invoked God or Jesus, and there are times when the scenes are, nearly literally, drowning in these references.
Holy shit I thought you were making shit up . Imagine being this unsympathetic.
Isn’t there a certain point where you just realize you’re in a Christian setting and you just shut up or leave? I don’t give israeli funerals bad reviews for being too Hebrew
Not for these people. They have difficulty reading the room and think they're just better than most people. People who talk like that think they're doing other people favors.
you aren't supposed to make one
Who is it for? Other parents who have had a child die of brain cancer? Why the frick would they want to relive that? Parents whose kids don't have brain cancer? I can imagine they'd just feel a sense of relief that their own child doesn't have brain cancer. People without kids? What are they gonna get out of it? The author himself? That's fricking weird.
Why shouldn't it exist?
For people who've dealt with cancer firsthand, knowing they're not alone in the struggle. For people who haven't, an appreciation of being lucky, a well needed perspective on life. For the parents themselves, to help them grieve, put their feelings into something.
I enjoyed it, and a lot of people did for their own personal reasons too.
>euthanasia? >frick that, I want to extend my child's agony for as long as possible because I can't let go >then I will tell everyone a story about MY suffering
it's understandable behavior for a parent but also a hideous and sick pattern. mercy killing is not a bad thing.
hospice is basically that, its just slow. they sedate you into unconsciousness until you die most likely of kidney failure from dehydration
they make a person spend weeks mostly unconscious, or about a week entirely unconscious, before they die of thirst
why, you can give them water, if anything thats the last good parts of their life, i gave my dad water through a sponge and got to spend a little bit more time with him then. some nurses advised against it, i guess maybe they told your friend he cant do it or something because some of these nurses are psychopaths from doing this job for so long or for whatever reason genuinely believe its better to make them die as quickly as possible. i had a couple tell me that water would just make it all more painful and take longer but if thats the case they should just administer more ativan so they cant wake up and be suffering.
why, you can give them water, if anything thats the last good parts of their life, i gave my dad water through a sponge and got to spend a little bit more time with him then. some nurses advised against it, i guess maybe they told your friend he cant do it or something because some of these nurses are psychopaths from doing this job for so long or for whatever reason genuinely believe its better to make them die as quickly as possible. i had a couple tell me that water would just make it all more painful and take longer but if thats the case they should just administer more ativan so they cant wake up and be suffering.
i wonder if the nurses werent giving him water... jesus
i went through this shit 3 months ago and it seemed like the sooner patients died the easier their jobs would be... and they seemed to have developed ways to rationalize killing them sooner by denying them water. but they also dont give them as much of the drugs as they'd need to not be awake and suffering especially if they make them deprived of something they need to survive like that. there was only ever 1-2 patients in the entire place including my dad so it seemed once he was gone they wouldnt have to do as much anymore.
Women are lazy and evil creatures who prey on weakness. The only reason you don't hear about this more often is because they are well insulated behind these apparently altruistic professions with plausible deniability, which only makes it easier for them. Nurses are horrible to each other let alone the sick and dying they lord power over.
There is no one that preys on the weak and vulnerable more than them, as it's the only way they're capable of exerting any power in their lives.
it's different when it's a newborn because you have the expectation of helping them heal and live a happy healthy life to make up for their initial years of suffering
>"The name of the game is taken from a story that the Greens had told their other sons about Joel's illness through an allegory about how Joel was a brave knight fighting a dragon named Cancer."
You do realize this guy sold a game he made about his infant dying of cancer for personal profit, right? Anyone else would be donating any proceeds to charity because it's kind of fricking warped to try and profit off the death of your kid. Beyond everything else that's the big reason for why the game gets shat on, it feels scummy.
i watched it and yeah it felt pretty self absorbed and just wrong.. the game felt a lot more about the suffering of the dad rather than the child, and it does this with the dad being all poetic and self pitying, its all about you reading/hearing his thoughts
You say this as if he's getting a mansion and expensive cars and it's all surplus value generated through this story.
But money is also survival, you know? Paying the bills, being able to afford another month of groceries, school for the kids.
Would you say the same about a movie, a musician, a writer, making a living off getting their own experiences through their mediums?
But that's all besides the point really because a quick read through the game's story you can find this: >"all revenue from sales of That Dragon, Cancer on Ouya would be donated to the Morgan Adams Foundation and Family House SF, two charities that had assisted the Greens during Joel's treatment"
not making cancer jokes is not going to cure cancer.
that's in hands of rich fricks to stop proffiting on it and release the cure that cost less than $500 that they have on their possession since the 70's.
