Because zoomers can't handle playing low-poly games unless it's a PC exclusive low-poly indie 3D platformer designed as an homage to games they never played that a silly man on YouTube told them to play. Therefore, they need remakes to avoid older graphics.
The funny thing is that the original RE2 is significantly more casual than the remake. Very very easy game with simpler level design, simpler combat, simpler puzzles, and simpler resource management. So seeing -oomer morons try to act like it's some kind of huge filter is hilarious. It was one of the most casual games on PS1.
I've always played RE like this. I've also played REmake 2 like this because there is tons of ammo. I don't like the game design of the remake but the atmosphere was really good.
>bullet sponge enemies
True >moronic non-sensical puzzles
Not really >annoying boss fights
Also true
>Why is it so highly praised?
Its a great game besides its flaws. Athmosphere, level and character design, graphics, being a true survival horror, faithful and good remake of re2,good storytelling, polished and well crafted game. 10x better than half the shit capcom put out in years.
Re4 game mechanics and gameplay aspects differ massively from re2 even if they use the same engine, the Re2 Remake followed the old school elements of survival horror very well and respected the og2,like:
>Low ammount of resources provided to the point theres never any true surplus of shit to the player >Feeling of isolation and in general athmosphere capturing same vibe of re2 >Followed the story well minus a few changes like for example anette being kind of a b***h
Re4 is a much different game, a lot faster paced, its not a survival horror by any means, more emphasis on combat which is also more over the top unlike re2remake. Their both good games,i still prefer re2 remake tho tbh.
Yeah I'm still disagreeing here. Aside from being arguably survival horror whereas 4 is arguably action horror, 2 and remake play nothing alike. They aren't remotely similar in gameplay or execution.
I also liked RE2make but it's very middle of the road as RE goes for me, let alone horror in general
>Yeah I'm still disagreeing here. Aside from being arguably survival horror whereas 4 is arguably action horror, 2 and remake play nothing alike.
We agree on this then
>They aren't remotely similar in gameplay or execution.
Brother but thats unavoidable, that will always be the case for any remake of old games especially still in the ps1 era. Original re2 still used tank controls which for obvious reasons they would have never used again for a 2019 game. Remake still followed the same plot, areas (to a degree, more so in the first ares) and overall themes.
I think your argument is perfectly applied to the re3 which truly felt nothing like a faithful remake of re3 even by eliminating entire areas of the original game
>I also liked RE2make but it's very middle of the road as RE goes for me, let alone horror in general
Nothing wrong with that, just play what you enjoy the most.
Zombies are not enemies you defeat. They are obstacles and traps that you need to snare with timing and strategy to get to where you need to go (the puzzle solving).
Calling something in a RE game a puzzle is generous. It's hardly more complex than "I have found a shield. This reminds me of the shield shaped hole on the other side of the building."
An easy way to spare bullets is just to make a zombie fall to the ground with a few shots and take out at least one of his legs with the knife, even if they stay alive their very easy to avoid at that point so you wont have to waste ammo since in thia game even head shots are not guaranteed kills
the Adaptive difficulty shit is what kills the game for me, RE3R, despite beind an inferior game, plays so much better because it doesn't have any of that nonsense.
I might get flack for this but the re3 had great potential to be even better than 2,but the short development time killed that game,it feels more like an extremely long dlc or side story of re2remake
there is virtually no adaptive difficulty in hardcore mode.
AD is built to mostly increase difficulty as you progess through the game.
You can get very close to the max level of difficulty by just picking items.
AD is literally built to help titty streamers and toddlers go through the game. Stop finding excuses. It's only moronic in R3make but that game is moronic anyway.
PS1 RE2: >hold aim button to lock on >mash shoot button from a distance until enemy dies >get showered in ammo
Remake RE2: >have to actually aim, and you're rewarded for aiming at limbs and crippling body parts >because enemies are more dangerous, positioning is essential >have to be careful with your aim because you can run out of ammo quickly
According to some morons on this board, the former is "hardcore" and the latter is "casual".
This is very true, i went back and played the original re2 and that game is extremely easy, the puzzles, the abundance of ammo and critical hits are very easy to perform especially with the shotgun ( which in re2remake werent even always a guaranteed one shot kill )
Yeah, absolutely garbage 100% of the time. I love the series sometimes, but only the zombies are fun. Frick lickers, mutants, etc
The best was Nemesis for me though. I thought the 7 boss fights really didn't help the atmosphere of the game, suddenly you're supposed to fight and now you're doing that, you're the top dog.
Was just a good remake. RE4 remake on the other hand completely fricked up. Leon's new model was acceptable in RE2 remake because I just figured it was a one-off thing, but then they went and put him in RE4 and made him look even fricking worse.

Maybe you're not supposed to just kill all the enemies and have loads of ammo. Maybe you should try running past things after shooting them in the legs you actual moron.
Well, it's a "horror" game and that genre is known to be consumed by utter fricking morons, be it a game or a movie.
Filtered by an entire genre.
Because zoomers can't handle playing low-poly games unless it's a PC exclusive low-poly indie 3D platformer designed as an homage to games they never played that a silly man on YouTube told them to play. Therefore, they need remakes to avoid older graphics.

Who the frick do you think is playing this?
>he thinks zoomers are playing this shit
I do play this shit.
Based
I live for this shit.

sponge enemies
if the zombies were easy to kill they would had not overun the entire city
C'mon
post the morgue zombie clip
I know you're itchin for it
>killing enemies in resident evil
i love gunning down the dogs with shotguns in re1. makes me feel like im putting down a shitbull.
I've always played RE like this. I've also played REmake 2 like this because there is tons of ammo. I don't like the game design of the remake but the atmosphere was really good.
>I've never played a resident evil released before 7
Better to clear out a few areas of annoying enemies if you have to backtrack there a bunch of times.
>bullet sponge
filtered, not even going to explain at this point as you're either moronic and don't use the actual mechanics or are baiting

Why do you consider this a faithful remake of 2 when it's about as similar as 4 is to 2?

this game made me realize I only like re4 5 and 6
>zombies are threatening again
where's the problem, it's a horror game
Sherry
>bullet sponge enemies
News flash, you're not supposed to kill every single one. Shoot to stun and move on
that would work fine if you wouldnt need to backtrack constantly
>all these serious replies to a baitpost
we need to start teaching 4chin literacy in school
Frick off. Ironygays and trolls killed this place. Bunch of cowards.
I praise genuine anons that discuss videogames

What is the adaptive difficulty? I didn't find it noticeably changing
If you land headshot reliably, zombies turn into bullet sponges and nearly immune to staggering.

You are actually stupid if you were filtered by RE2's puzzles.
PS1 RE2:

Boomers be like, "yo this some hardcore gameplay for serious gamers only"
>annoying boss fights
This is the one thing people should b***h about most. The bosses are extremely unfun and the worst part of the game.
That goes for basically every RE game
Can't think of any RE boss that was particularly fun to fight.
Maybe the second Jack Baker fight with the chainsaw but that's it
Yeah, absolutely garbage 100% of the time. I love the series sometimes, but only the zombies are fun. Frick lickers, mutants, etc

His model in original re4 is still the best
I hated the lickerw in the re2 remake
remake Leon looks fine compared to what they did to my boy Luis
made him look like a 4-stage alcoholic
They made luis an uncanny valley ugly ass mtf
>doesn't look white and handsome like I imagine handsome to look
>ugly
new Leon is what I imagine handsome to look
old Leon is more "pretty" than handsome I would say
dead space has and always has been superior to resident evil in literally every single way
Maybe you're not supposed to just kill all the enemies and have loads of ammo. Maybe you should try running past things after shooting them in the legs you actual moron.

The Sherry mods.
