Nothing wrong with wanting to play on og hardware. The problem is when you buy that shit not because you want it but because you expect to make money off of it
Some people like having collections of games or plugging carts into systems. Berating them for it is like berating someone for owning books instead of reading them on a kindle.
Well the difference here is there's a difference between physical books and a kindle is a much different experience in how they feel but it's like a 0.001% difference between playing a game on real hardware vs. emulating them or using a flashcart. Yes I will berate people for paying $300 for a used piece of plastic with the same data on it that you can download off of the internet.
People buy first edition versions of books for far more money than a new print would cost and the experience of both is about equal.
Also reading on a kindle is surprisingly close to reading a physical book. The main thing it's missing is flipping pages and the smell but actually reading text feels the same since that's the whole point of e-ink

I went to read a normal book after years of only reading on Kindle for the convenience of instantly pirating any book, and I unwittingly felt the urge to hold my finger over a word to see what it meant in the dictionary.
Being able to look up the meaning of any word with a tap is what makes reading on ebook readers better than real books, in my opinion, even with all the other downsides.

Or you can learn to figure out what a word means through context like if you had a functional brain.

Except one doesn't preclude the other. You can suss out the meaning of a word and get a technical definition from a source to verify (as well as learn more about the word, it's etymology, evolution, etc)
Also, what is the issue with a built in dictionary? Would you be okay with zoomer morons doing the same thing but with a physical dictionary?

I think anyone who can't read a book without it being on a kindle for the built in dictionary is a fricking moron plain and simple. It's telling that command of the language and overall literacy has dropped dramatically at the same time that technologies like this become widespread. I have no respect for it than I do for the idiot spell checker so many people rely on to do all the work for them.

If you really REALLY don't know a word, you can check it on your phone or computer and then go back to your book. You don't need to go straight from word to definition.

Holding the actual console’s controller and putting in the cart or CD feels a lot different than using a modern controller with custom button mapping and selecting the game in an emu menu to play it at resolutions it wasn’t made for.
Some people are mentally ill hoarders. There are reasons to read an actual book, the experience itself is a little different. There's no difference between a flashcart and a real copy of the game, it's purely mental illness that makes these people spend 200 bucks on a copy of pokeymans.
>There are reasons to read an actual book, the experience itself is a little different
nope. it's the same shit. the words are the exact same no matter where you read them. either you enjoy collecting things or you enjoy the function and there's nothing wrong with either but don't be a hypocrite and act like one is holier than the other when it's the exact same shit. you're just used to reading books on physical paper so that's what you prefer. some people just like collecting books. some people are used to playing NES games on the original system, so that's what they prefer. some people just like collecting consoles.
personally i pirate all my books and then buy physical copies of my favorites for my personal collection because i both enjoy reading and collecting.

I prefer a kindle, but I could see an argument for someone wanting to read a physical book. Take something like House of Leaves, it's garbage, but I don't know how the digital version of that shit works, I assume it has to force text to fit to new pages to do the gimmick sections.
Games are identical either way, it's just code. Well, I guess there are a few carts with gimmick features like Kirby's Tilt n Tumble, I can understand owning those.

fpga is such a fricking meme and is still just fricking emulation. software emulation is completing indistinguishable from hardware emulation for the end user in almost all cases and only autists give a shit if a game is cycle accurate if the experience is exactly the same

waiting on my 64 flashcart to come in next week after the shell is done. I'm going to learn DK64 speedrunning techniques to play in the DK64 randomizer races. >inb4 that game sucks because of XYZ
the randomizer has many QoL improvements like swapping Kongs on input and lowering requirements for certain locks. Definitely not how the game was intended but it's better this way.
Nothing wrong with wanting to play on og hardware. The problem is when you buy that shit not because you want it but because you expect to make money off of it
I'd buy a flash cart to play on OG hardware.
I watch 100k-200k subbed channels that get tons of views that freely admit they just emulated the games. There's no point in collecting the physical game with minor exceptions like physical hardware DRM like a peripheral
RGT 85, realized the same thing, sold all his retro stuff, and now shills the dedicated emulator chinese mini-PC's that get sent to him for free in between making rage-bait videos. He figured out how to make it.
If you were to do a retro channel like this, the ideal is just to emulate until you have enough money to buy real hardware, then show it off if you need to.
If you actually enjoy games then yeah, you emulate them. Some people enjoy collecting games for the sake of collecting, and it's fun to watch people who are passionate about something excitedly share their hobbies.
You can kinda tell when someone isn't genuine about it, and then it's just not fun to watch.
Call them collectorgays, you can prefer the original hardware and a crt because they both legitimately have merits but the people who collect them for online clout is genuinely aggravating.
I have no respect for people that buy videogames just because while they rot and accumulate dust.
I won't lie. I like buying physical hardware and I have a moderately sized retro collection. But I fricking love videogames, and games are meant to be played. Buying sealed games and just putting them on the self to never be played, or buying games that you don't even like because they are classic is fricking stupid. I buy old videogames, and then I beat them.
I could emulate them. I have, for decades, I do, and I will. From, I don't know, zsnes to gambatte to motherfricking connectix virtual games station for the psx on the early 00's, up to modern retroarch. But it feels right at home playing with original hardware and original games.
So yeah. >people who collect them for online clout is genuinely aggravating
yes, I agree.
annoying but at least we have games to play that are improved from their original version
Emulating is great and the most accessible and quickest way to play any game. It's probably one of the greatest things that will ever happen to videogames period. And of course there are things I won't ever buy. You won't see me grabbing a copy of the adventures of little ralph on psx. I'd rather burn a copy or play on pc.
>review old games >have a segment on my reviews dedicated to emulation and PC enhancements for old games >always have some moron in my comments chimping out at BUT MUH ORIGINAL HARDWARE
It's not even that (ignoring the bait about collecting) and the fact that a youtube channel like that just doesn't have a hook >hey gamers look at all this old crap i've bought
Like who cares? >hey gamers look at the intricacies of how we handled the 3d in the old SNES/Genesis Toy Story games
Now we're talkin'. If I wanna watch retroslop, I wanna hear it from a nerd, not a geek.
This. My only interest in retro consoles is in seeing people mod the crap out of them; like dudes who upgrade PS2s with HDMI output or butcher a wii to make a gamecube less than 3" in all dimensions.
The only purpose of original hardware is collecting it for your own personal reasons (which no one cares about) or the games themselves. In which case emulation beats them out every time and people are going to be far more interested in the handhelds and mini PCs coming out of china.
I haven't actually played it, but it cost me $600 complete in box, so it's probably alright.

Good, maybe people youngsters would stop thinking about "making it big" with the internet.
Except for chicks with onlyfans because there is no shortage of lonely virgins
Adsense has always payed like shit because Youtube rakes in the bulk of the revenue for themselves. Creators with a sizeable audience leverage that to shill their own merch, patreon, or to get in contact with brands directly for marketing contracts that actually pay the bills.
People wonder why youtube content is garbage, meanwhile the bottom of the barrel shit on Discovery+ or History Channel has a $250000 budget per episode (and gets similar views)
yeah all the social media shit pays like trash
Tiktok for example pays $10 per million views.
the real money is in getting people to donate to you directly via patreon, or in selling merch.
>1k views = £2 >1 view = £0.002 = 0.2p >YT premium costs £12.99/month >12.99/0.002 = 6495 videos watched per month for it to be worth the cost
And that, israelitetube, is why I will continue to adblock.
>be moronic
Anon youtube pays for itself. Are you so fricking moronic you can't get 10K view a month uploading a video of a bird once a month?
Like come on. That's fricking embarrassing dude.
Depends on niche, gaming can be anywhere from $8-$11 per 1k views. But a video like this is going to be a traffic driver, his average vids probably get 1/10 of that. Just went all in on a shrinking niche
ad revenue pays in cost per mille (CPM: payment per 1,000 views), and YouTube adjusts that based on the content and level of engagement (eg if 1,000 people watch the entire video the creator will get more money than if 1,000 watched half of it), so it can be very volatile
also YouTube adjusts CPM rates with very short notice. about 5 years ago the rate for ASMR was about $9, which is why that whispering trash grew so massive, but then yt dropped it to $3 and bankrupted thots who just spent $10k on some NASA microphone
nah its bullshit
there are plenty of youtubers who break it down and show if you can get 80k subs and like 20k views a video you can live comfortably on that income and make like 80k/y on that
if you also stream on top of that, patreon, sponsorships, or just get more viewers you make good cash
don't let anyone try to grift u into thinking they are doing well for themselves when they have many viewers
I don't know, anon...
That 8bitguy was complaining about his income, it seems that the videos alone are not enough to cover his costs, and he has more than 1 million subscribers on Youtube.
Also, Patreon doesn't seem to have any "synergy" with Youtube. I have more followers on Patreon with a rather obscure erotic visual novel than 8Bitguy has, even though he's a "celebrity" known to millions of people while I'm an anonymous guy with an obscure game whose only place it's been published outside Patreon is on piracy sites.
>videos alone are not enough to cover his costs
this is the important line
its not that he doesn't make that much money, but its that it doesn't cover the costs
how much are his costs though is the question?
is he spending thousands of dollars a video?
is he hiring people to do stuff?
you absolutely make enough if you have minimal costs, if you have higher costs then yeah you need more viewers or other revenue from it to break even but if his patreon numbers are low its because his patreon isn't interesting for people to subscribe to for what it offers, or maybe it is and people don't know about it.
Don't let them get you with sneaky weasel words
movies spending millions of dollars can not cover their costs with it but it doesn't mean you need millions to make a movie of any kind.
The 8bit guy souring costs are for the bullshit he has done to his house over the last year.
Buying solar panels and construction.
Not to mention, nobody is passing him interesting stuff anymore because of the infamy of that one video. So all he has to talk about is his shit c64 game and the retro clone c64 he made.
His whole thing was restore video's. Now because of the frick up, nobody trusts him with any real rare stuff that is in need of fixing.
People are moving on to Adrian Blacks Channel.
He tries his best, but Adrian is a better retro youtuber than him.
Old rare prototype terminal.
Fricker shoved a paperclip in to the power supply to try and jump it without the monitor. It blew the frick up. He also used a dremmel on the case to get older screws out instead of slotting the screw head.
It caused a bit of controversy, hot takes all over the place. People trying to cancel him because he also is a 2nd amendment auditor.(He lives in fricking Texas, it was a dumb thing to try and get him on).
Now before that video, people would send him stuff to show off and restore/fix. Now people are starving him out. None of the cowards would say this to his face of course.
But mostly his video's are suffering in quality. So more and more people are moving on to Adrian Black.
Youtube doesn't pay much. Most things with streaming doesn't pay much in general unless there is a direct price tag, even then there is a lot of factors.
damn... he spent nearly three weeks of paychecks (worst case, barely full time, working as the lowest caste of wageslaves) on a bunch of stuff that can be re-sold for the far majority of its value...
>don't want to work an actual job >spend all your money on toys like thousands of others >start a youtube channel thinking you can basedface your way into popularity and get a steady income doing nothing >fails >start another channel doing something equally worthless
Sorry millenniacuck, back to the coding mines for you.

Women select for men with an IQ of 90 more than anything else and a man with an IQ of 80 is more likely to get laid than a man with an IQ of 110. Every point of IQ above 90 reduces your chances with the opposite sex. Women are stupid and intimidated by mens real intelligence.

Don't be gullible. Autism is a money making machine. Getting a diagnosis is gay.
There's no such thing as an autism. They keep broadening it and adding people to it because it is a money making machine. They'll have you believe that everyone has a small percentage of autism, making the term absolutely meaningless.
Well no anon, Autism is still a thing, just because the autist community got together and got Aspergers language policed out of existence doesn't mean it no longer exists.

I hate this meme that autism hinders your chances with women, by all logic it should improve your chances. For starters you are moronic and womens all too equal egos will not be hurt by feeling inferior. For seconders personality doesn’t matter, only looks, and autism is associated with higher levels of testosterone in the womb which also leads to better facial definition.
>better facial definition.
Better facial definition and mostly a better chin is caused by having your dad yell at you to stop breathing through your mouth as a kid. And stand up straight and take your frickin hands out your pockets. That will help your posture and make you look more confident and chadly too.
>I hate this meme that autism hinders your chances with women
40% of people diagnosed(not self-diagnosed) with autism have never had sex. >by all logic it should improve your chances
How on earth is someone with reduced capacity to socialize and make emotional bonds with women going to have a better chance? Have you ever had a relationship of any kind? >only looks
Blackpill only works as a general rule or if you're really 3/10. > autism is associated with higher levels of testosterone in the womb which also leads to better facial definition.
wat. There is literally studies on AI recognizing autism from facial structure, showing that autistic people have basically FAS-tier facial structure.

I dated a girl very briefly who saved up money to quit her job to be an art influencer. At the time, I had thousands more followers on Twitter, and I tried steering her to where she maybe made a few bucks but still had a reliable and enjoyable primary income.
She didn't really wanna hear what I had to say, and she wound up quitting eventually.
I've also had guys approach me at cons or game clubs to try and do D&D or vidya podcasts.
Honestly there's so much brain rot tricking people into thinking they can make money off of just being online. It's annoying when I see it online but in person it's really depressing because you know they're not in a good space and I almost never see anyone with a good "hook" for anyone but their friends to care.

It's one of those jobs that seems attainable to nearly anyone, like being an author. Until you actually try to do it and realize you suck at it and have no idea how to improve. Or worse, you don't realize you suck at it and you continue doing it for years thinking it's just about luck.
>inorganically
What is the organic way? For me it looks like someone just blows up for some reason and the rest could do it for a thousand years but still not make it.
Technically if you want to get into it, most influencer careers are entirely inorganic these days, usually selected by google/facebook/etc and forced on people.
Makes it easier to control narratives and astroturf consensus on issues.
i think it's moreso the case that these companies headhunt for budding influencers and make them even more popular.
still not organic growth, but it's not like they're just picking up any random person to turn into a celebrity
>it's not like they're just picking up any random person to turn into a celebrity
Generally they are, yeah you could make the distinction that they could be selecting for charismatic faces, but there's a lot of those, so it's effectively random.
my gf suggested I do gaming videos to make money a while back because I'm sick of my actual job.
I had to tell her it's entirely unrealistic and that the people who are making money doing this are incredibly rare and it doesn't just happen.
I do make my own gameplay videos as a hobby, but it's all self serving and not really informative.
this, mine also tried to nudge me into this direction, since she has an influencer friend
I do wargames and albeit we do nice battles and miniatures, it's entirely unfeasible to succeed in this field, it's just very rare and a drain just as any job. I don't want to turn my hobbies into a job I dread.
>I don't want to turn my hobbies into a job I dread
same reason i will never push my art to be my source of income
i enjoy drawing, and making money off it will take away a lot of the enjoyment, no matter how much my friends think i could make money off getting better and doing porn or some shit
plus it is indeed highly doubtful it could ever replace a regular jagoff job in terms of income, since like all things in the content creation industry, the people who get stupid rich off it are top 0.1%
The dumbest thing about the 'WALL OF CONSOLES' people is that they insist on hooking them ALL UP at the same time despite most actual people only hooking up and using consoles as needed.

Stars help me, what is it with this semen demon that makes me feel this way about her?
On the topic, I do tend to feel bad for non-malicious people whose creative and business ventures don't succeed, but trying to monetize sharing your opinions on the internet is just... sleazy. I sometimes daydream about making some deranged review about a videogame I care about, but I only ever think about it in terms of potential entertainment value, there's no way in hell I'd treat it as a full time job ever.
Speaking of feeling bad about people whose creative/business ventures don't succeed despite honest effort, some of you should try Savage Vessels. It's like Teleglitch except actually fun. Poor lad has only 30 or so reviews on that thing, and I feel terrible for him given how comfy his game was.
It's only "my wife and I" if it's the start of a sentence you literal moron. It could just as easily be the object of a sentence in the example he gave "(this is) me and my wife".
it doesn't have anything to do with where it is in the sentence. the simple test is to remove the part of the sentence that isn't the personal pronoun and see if it still reads correctly.
"Top 10 Games Me Play..." is wrong, so it should be "My wife and I"
I unironically watch and enjoy this guys content
He's got truly awful taste to the extent that it's actually refreshing, since it's so different from the average boring consensus takes
Kek, the whole "making a living just by playing vidya" left a decade ago, you should've started it when people like Pewdiepie had started to blow up at the time to actually get the chance to make it. Also I bet tons of others people back then did succeeded, but since they never made actually good content or changed their ways to bring something new, their fanbase just died off, because they grew up and moved on with life, and probably a lot of them could afford to get a console themselves too to play instead of watching YT.
Sponsors, merch, being owned by some talent company. Also I think the way google pays out is that they pay more for niche stuff while gaming is oversaturated with all manner of youtubers so even with 50k views you get peanuts. The same 50k views on a video about mowing the lawn likely gets you a bigger payout. But this is just my guess, I imagine google can't really reveal this stuff otherwise people would game the system. Ironically considering this guy's channel name.
Mostly sponsors, if you get a representive and join a company, they get you a higher cut, then there's patreon, merch, etc. Raid Shadow Legends plays six digits for your ad read
Wait, SIX digits for a SINGLE read? Like, six digits Amooriken dollarydooblerinoroos? Like a year worth of salaries at a full time job for plugging them once? No way. These homosexual youtubers are ought to be multimillionaires by now, what do they need this much money for with all these sponsors?
You would be surprised as to how much money mobile games make. After all, the mobile game industry makes more than the PC and console industry combined. Whenever you see a middle aged woman or little kid on their phone outside, just know that they're probably dropping $5-10 every week on some shit like candy crush or raid.
>farming the lonely c**ts via Patreon coins
this is the most disgusting part. their goal isn't to make something cool and show it. the videos are an excuse, a trick to con lone unwitting saps into ponying up.
The final goal of every gaytuber is getting sponsorship + shilling their own tasteless chinese made merchandises + exclusive/early access content via patreon and shit.
Merch, direct sponsors, or google just paying them better rates than literally EVERYONE else bringing in money, even in the situation that they're actively being paid with money meant to go to other video creators.

Is that gaming content, though? I've heard that gaming videos get frick all because of the number of people using adblockers. More boomer friendly videos like DIY, cars or history (if you can avoid demonetisation) do much better.
yeah it was gaming content. a youtuber/streamer i used to watch daily once showed as much as he possibly could without revealing anything private about how the ad revenue shit worked. i saw the video having a bit over 30k views which netted him somewhere between 200-300 dollars
Looks like he deleted the video because I can't find it anywhere. He still uploads on his other channels which only get a few hundred views a video though.
Dude, you have that sort of hardware because It's a hobby, not because you'll get money from ad revenue generated by soimen watching your videos. What kind of moronic homosexual does that.
It's like buying a Ferrari just because I want to make a yt channel about cars, and you think this is gonna make money from clicks.
These parasites are the ones killing the retro market.
>Be me >Seeing the retro game boom during covid >Really want to play an older game >Bro is really into Pokemon and swears HG and SS are the best ones >Never owned a DS as a kid so didn't play >Have a 3ds now and look online for a copy >Cheapest one is $250 >Download an emulator and rom to play for free
Retro gays are fricking cancer. Feels good when one of these gays hits hard times
Nah. Even when they had new games, megaman fandom was severely fricked in the collective head. They have been for a long ass time.
BOF gets by by not being nearly as moronic and uppity. Which is even weirder, when you think about it, considering all the furry in that series.
When you die your relatives will throw out everything you used to own that doesn't have an immediate use case. I went through this with my grandad. He had so much bullshit that it took us a day to go through his old stuff. Don't kid yourself. You own garbage because videogames are shit and always have been
i think the biggest reason this kind of content doesn't get views anymore is because we now have a decade+ of the same content already on yt thats been told 100s of times by 100s of different people. every retro console and game has been reviews and analyzed to death. its time ytbers think of something new
>buying old games and consoles for manchild background shelf decorations for your youtube channel >not buying old games and consoles to play and enjoy and appreciate
youtubers are pathetic
They've been tricked into believing you are a collector because you want to resell shit rather than because you're actually collecting things you like.
Hell, I still even collect shit like Beanie Babies. Have since the beginning, and I even just bought more on Thursday but I never gave a frick about the speculation meme. I was just buying the ones I liked.
If you don't like it and/or won't be using it then you are not a collector, you're just a scalper, a glorified pawn shop.
Is there a way to reliably get tested for autism without visiting a filthy shrink IRL? I ain't got time to for hospital visits.
and I don't wanna give money to those creatures either.
Here you can get diagnosed through school-appointed psychs but you have to be singled out at a young age for it. They'll basically run down an elementary class, pick out the ones most likely to get diagnosed, send you and a few other candidates back and forth for a while and ship you back. The schools collect grant money for every kid with a mental disability so if you get picked it's an easy trip to a tugboat. It's a genuinely hellish process and everyone involved should hanged. As an adult it's much harder; if you don't have a real medical issue to exploit use unemployment insurance instead.
i remember getting picked out for a "special class" in like second grade 20 years ago
basically got out of having to do math so i could draw pictures and dick around for two weeks before they said i didnt need to be there
>making a youtube channel as a business instead of a hobby
what a moron, most successful channels pre-covid had dozens of videos across years before being blessed by the algorithm
Realistically speaking if he's moronic enough to consider buying a bunch of old videogames an "investment" he would have blown that money on dumb shit like a BMW or crypto
>market is saturated with old games reviews >better spend lots of money to join the shitshow >don't profit
I don't understand. Unless you're a good looking thot, have big backers or oldgays started in israelitetube, it's fricking suicide trying to make a career in israelitetube.
Speaking of investments, I'm trying to get my shit sorted, and now I'm no longer NEET and have a stable job I'm
- paying into a pension ISA (I think americans call this a Roth IRA?) that my work matches my contributions to as well
- recently started paying into a savings account (4% AER) regularly as well
What should I consider longer term? Should I forego the savings account and invest? or wait and when the savings account is built up a bit, also start investing seperately? I feel like I'd rather avoid the risk with at least some of my interest making money. But I assume that with some basic research beating 4% a year is doable. Or do I just stick with what I'm doing now?
If you want to gamble on the stock market, start with shares that pay dividends. Whether the dip goes up or down, they send money to your investment account every month based on your stake.
>longer term
if you're young and have surplus income once you have your safety net saved up you should be more aggressive in your risk tolerance and targeting growth focused equities to snowball, not using dividends like a kneecapping quarterly ATM. Bonds are conservative and mutual fund/money markets spread risk but still vulnerable to recession. don't piss away 5% in fees and commissions to an "advisor" either that shits for clueless boomers that like talking on the phone, do your own research and use something like Vanguard
that's what I've read second hand anyways, don't take my word for it
I've seen a thread about him before and watched a couple of his videos.
He is the most boring fricking person I've ever seen. Half of his videos is crying about how poorly his channel is doing.
this is why the retro market booming pissed me off. I wanted to make a collection for me , preserving the history and culture I hold dear. Of course I'm not spending hundreds of dollars on a fricking copy of Earthbound, but if it were reasonably priced I'd love to decorate my shelf with one. I've got a Toy Story kind of philosophy; these kinds of pieces of history shouldn't be collecting dust if they can be appreciated, that's the point of the meeting between the game and the art. Granted I have some collectibles that are sealed and staying as such, but those are rare exceptions and I often have other copies of them anyway.
Quite right, and it's overall suffereing for it. Same with retro movies, I saw that VHS copy of Back to the Future, not a rare cassette to find btw, and how celebrities threw money at it chuckling like monkeys. Bigger scam than NFTs traded back and forth to inflate value and imitate blockchain action.
>Spent thousands >Daily revenue $2
Good, frick you.
All I wanted to do was play Veiwtiful Joe and Twin Snakes on original hardware, maybe get a Gameboy Player, but you soicuck Black personhomosexuals had to shit up the "retro games" market because you gays thought you could flip that shit to other morons but surprise, no one is paying you multiple hundreds of dollars for second-to-fifth-hand goods.
I'm so happy I bought Twin Snakes back in 2010 at Gamestop for like 40$.
Let's pray that market crashes and prices plummet fast.
50k views makes $2?
They commodified viewers into direct revenue long ago, now the value has been declining so much that I have to wonder if there even is a point to doing solo projects, even Patreon and OF will slowly increase their cut more and more to the point where you'd be making more at McDonalds for the time you put in.
I got into game collecting and flipping/trading casually back in 1999. Flipping nes games I got from flea markets for $2 on ebay or trading on gametz. Found chrono trigger for $5 at a pawn shop. I noticed competition as the years went on but honestly, the scene even before youtube was full of frickin greasy homosexuals. The website ganetz is still around. Dudes are 50 and just the worst frickbags.
Never collect retro stuff out of a wish to generate profit, only do it if you unironically enjoy it. Hell, the AVGN already had his massive collection long before he decided to do a web show about it.
Been collecting since 2014. Got some gaming shelves and started watching channels like Metal Jesus. He just goes out and comes back with a sack full of cheap games. Its what i did to fill out my shelves with whatever looked playable or quirky. This is how i collected for almost 10 years. Fast forward to now. I quit my job that i couldnt stand and decided to go through my collection for stuff to sale. Just trimmed the fat with shit i would never play again, didnt have any love for or stuff I had upgraded to modern releases and just never sold the originals. Sold 15 items so far and made $1000 on ebay. Sold some GBA cibs that had switch releases, some rare anime dvds, a lot of my wii u games that i would never touch. I dont plan to tap into my actual games i love to own like rule of rose
He got a lot of sympathy subs after he released this video. Out of curiosity I checked out his channel, lets just simply say there is probably a reason he can't retain an audience. If you're going to boring, and have no screen presence you have the knowledge base to be at least informative. Doesn't offer anything further than what you could easily find on Wikipedia or few articles within 5 minutes of searching. Why would I watch you?
Only 5 games left and I'll have reclaimed everything I sold. Problem is, 2 of those are high ticket items (Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose). But I am committed. I'll save for them, if I need to.
Looks like a emaciated version of Joe from Gamesack. And that dude knows his way around hardward. Would would be the point in watching a way shitter version of gamesack
>retro collection paid for my house extensions >will put my children through college >able to define my work hours to spend more time with family >will be able to retire on it
Maybe get better. I just earned $2k over the weekend selling a couple of N64 and switch game doubles
Getting to be 40 myself and im still a wage cuck with no end in sight. I have 2 room huge collection and im started asking myself what am i sitting on all these games for? The vast majority are not special or hold no meaning, just filling space on a shelf. Would buy rare expensive games for "street cred" as if someone was going to vet me on how hardcore i was or something. What was on? Honestly terrified of going through the embarassment of having to move out one day and dragging all this shit with me like a loser. Im making an effort to downsize and just keep the games I love or have a lot of potential.
>kamikaze yourself hoping randoms to feel sorry for you to generate more views/subs >backpedals when people don't fall for it and point out your bullshit >deletes video and pretends nothing happened
same thing as wearing a suit. it used to be normal, now it's only appropriate in certain contexts. standards change. you look like a weirdo tucking in your t-shirt unless you're exercising, working or are at a formal event.
depends on the exercise. loose clothing can get caught on things. i do muay thai and always tuck my shirt when we spar so people don't get their toes caught in it, for example
>you wanted to do something like this but were too afraid to try >you now laugh at a man that failed because it makes you feel better about your cowardice
Better get to bed you have to wake up for that job you hate tomorrow 🙂
the man has a submission fetish and is lurking this thread wiener in hand. yes hes a gay but infinitly less gay than over-the-top tryhard retro israelitetubers. and yeah he actually plays games.
>investing in muh gay retro market instead of collecting for the sake of hardware enthusiasm
i hope more morons follow in liquidating their shit to people who actually give a shit
it's already on its way out, anon. the zoomers and millenials alike who bought into the market meme are panicking, and those who were in too late are demoralized as soon as they see the prices. the market is not in a good place right now and i couldn't be happier, frick these ebay israelites
My only issue is really that they call themselves collectors when they're not by definition because collecting is the act of gathering, not reselling.
As an actual collector (AKA someone who buys things up with intent to use, not resell) you can have my collection over my literal dead body.
Call yourself an investor, that's fine, but stop tricking people into believing you're one of us to rip off people who don't know better, scumbucket scalper.
I remember we shat on this guy like, what, a year ago at this point? He had zero connection to retro gaming, brought everything recently and his videos were total garbage.
unironically you'd probably have an easier time starting off as a lolcow and trying to parlay that into a successful influencer career. hate watching is still watching and you have to get engagement from somewhere.
>a slabbed coin no longer circulates as money to be spent on goods, but as a historical artifact >an opened video game is by definition ready to be played
The latter does have value, but the value is signifigantly less, is all.
After a thing is removed from its packaging and can no longer qualify as "Mint In Box", its value is subjective to how good of condition it's currently in, and how complete it is(ie: do you have the box, manual, excess shit that was packaged with it etc)
It's not a binary value/no value situation, especially not to autistic collectors, but you're right that you'd have to be a moron to buy vidya as an investment.
>check pokemon crystal release date >nearly 24 years ago
Is it only poorgays that unironically care about this shit? Like you can make that same money easily with a single stock in a few years, and that shit is all done digital so it doesn't take up any space. I don't care if your house is big, it's still wasted space and that's actual hoarder mentality.
Lack of financial literacy is common regardless of generation but this is more of a boomer/millennial shit. Especially since they're also the biggest demographic when it comes to home ownership.
I have a collection of old game because i like them. I consider that money gone. It's not an investment. But i have a real job that provides me money to expend it on useless shit. Also i never play them because it's better to emulate them, with better resolution, frame rate or nice things like save states or cheats to help with bullshit.
Pic is old as frick and now i have more games, mostly ps4, but you get the idea.
What more is there to say about these games? Youtubers have now been doing this shtick for longer than the entire era of these games lasted was. Its crazy.
so this homosexual bought the retro games and consoles not because he likes them, but to start a youtube channel?
serves him right. I hate greedy fricks like this so much.
Young people that see classic games say "Eww, it's old" and want nothing to do with them
Millennials that see classic games use them as a personality proxy and become the typical inauthentic graphic t-shirt +beard combo "nerd"
I just have a bunch of old vidya because I like vidya and truly believe older games are by and large legitimately better than the modern shit that comes out, and I'm bad with computers
Honestly, I think a lot of us who keep a ton of older vidya are just minor-league horders who can't bear to get rid of it, even for cash.
I certainly am, about that and a bunch of other stuff.
That's probably a factor but I got rid of a lot of my vidya as a kid. I don't really have any interest in getting back into the Wii, that thing was a piece of shit.
>Young people that see classic games say "Eww, it's old" and want nothing to do with them
I don't think that's the case. Zoomers have an "old good new bad" mentality concerning things they weren't even born for, that they believe fills the void they have where a personality should be.
So when a content homosexual shows them retro games they're all over it. They don't play them, of course, but they do donate and ride his dick and pretend they're into retro games.
>Zoomers have an "old good new bad" mentality concerning things they weren't even born for, that they believe fills the void they have where a personality should be.
No. It's because most of the time, old shit is juet genuinely better. Most modern games won't even start if you're not connected to the Internet.
>Young people that see classic games say "Eww, it's old
Kids grow up playing Minecraft and Terraria these days, pixel art and low poly games are flooding Steam
It's gamer hoarders dying and stuff getting trashed, gamestop tossing it all in the dumpster at the end of a gen, and just gamers in general treating their games like shit. Everybody I knew tossed the PS2 cases and stuck that shit in a binder, that's why "CIB" is rare.
People are brainlet as hell trying to blame everybody except the reality of 20-30 year old games not having many copies.
Many 30yrs old boomers will die and not able to afford the ridiculous price for the old shits. Many zoomers and alpha gays would be poorer and find those old shits clunky. Anyone will get them for FREE. It is just lose-lose situation for the cucked collectors. Now is a good time to sell cuz that market will decline slowly.
You need to be charismatic, to have a pleasant voice AND to have a not shit take on vidya... AND to be able to coherently convey why certain games work/don't work.
At least he tried I guess but he could've started a legitimate business with the money he spend on shitty collecting. I dont understand why you need real hardware to talk about games, just emulate Black person
AVGN was lucky to be the first person to do it in the early youtube days. He has personality of a brick and if he were to start the channel in year 2024 he would do far worse than this poor shmuck likely
It can be used to trick the viewer into believing you are an authority on the subject. Since the natural inclination is to not assume you are attempting to trick the viewer.
Meanwhile Phoenix Resale has half a mil subs, makes a ton of money from his channel, makes even more flipping shovelware on amazon to morons like him, and spends all day interviewing store owners who are killing themselves to run physical brick and mortar stores while he makes a killing from his basement.
Retro collecting as an investment isn't moronic. But if your channel isn't giving people something they're not going to stick around. You either need to be funny or teaching them something. Reading wikipedia articles out loud to slow panning shots of a Turbografix isn't going to pay your rent. Clickbait and ADHD editing might keep people interested for a little while, but bring something to the table. Something useful, new or entertaining. It's not hard to think of a good business plan. Don't just unbox retro shit on youtube, that's one of the most saturated markets on the fricking platform.
>How vapid as a person do you have to to be to watch someone like that?
I assume everyone watching him is trying to learn how to accumulate wealth and just happens to be interested in vidya. So it's easier for them to parse than stocks or investing jargon. It's easier to understand "stack SNES rpgs" than invest in REITS using your TFSA. Same reason boomers watch Storage Wars and Pawn Stars or Antiques Roadshow. They think it'll help they make money and elevate them above the poors so they can have a better life and look down on the poors. They think these youtubers have secret knowledge because they drive around and buy cheap shit at walmart and sell it on ebay for a few bucks higher. They idolize that lifestyle because they're stuck salting fries at the mcdonalds drive thru for minimum wage while waiting for their diabetic parents to die so they can inherit a house they'll never be able to afford the land tax on.
Meanwhile frickers like Harman Smith are pulling in millions because of how they diversified their content. (Writing books, investing, working a real job on top of streaming and making videos daily)
Retro hardware is an absolutely shitty "investment" because it can break at any moment and repairing it is not always easy and cheap. Well, that pretty much applies to all hardware, modern junk is usually even worse. Yes, it can break even if you don't use it and sometimes because of it. Even if you manage to repair it, you'll lose money on replacement parts AND decrease its collectors value because it's no longer "authentic". I own some retro consoles and games myself, but I know that I'll most likely lose money on this if I ever desperately need cash. I just think of them as a time capsule of sorts, my own private museum.
It seems obvious to say, but nobody should ever invest money into starting a youtube channel. Making youtube videos should be a hobby. Spend money on it if you want, but never expect to get a cent in return.
youre allowed to buy items just for fun. its silly to think of anything as an investment unless its property or artwork though. anything else is way too niche. theres a reason humanity has gravitated towards hard coin as currency instead of knick-knacks
>Retro channel >WHOA GUYS LET'S TALK ABOUT MARIO AND SONIC AND OTHER NORMIE POPULAR GAMES LIKE ZELDA
Frick off already, there are so cloned homosexuals like this, be original like LGR or something.
When you see a thumbnail of some ugly frick like this were 80% of the thumbnail itself is an image of them, then out of curiosity you look at the video and see its 80% them talking about shit before actually telling you about the product/thing in description you were curious about, only the last minute maybe tells you what it is you wanted to see.
Do you still continue to look at these self absorbed narcissist buttholes or do you just hit 'dont recommend channel' because theres so many of these on youtube were it's just an ugly mug on everything or a fake girl gamer that practically tell you nothing about what you wanted to see
>then out of curiosity you look at the video
This part doesn't happen. Nothing on my youtube recommended is gaming related, because why the FRICK would you watch anything about VIDEO GAMES on youtube? Are you dumb? Video games are for playing, not watching.
>tfw you collect vinyl records and have no interest in physical games
I've never done it for the investment aspect, more with how you interact and enjoy the medium itself (big cover art, inner sleeves/liner notes, listening to an album from start to finish) but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about just selling all of them for the cash. I started collecting in 2016 and Discogs says my collection could theoretically go for €25,000+ and that doesn't even count some decent bootlegs people would pay good money for
Nice. The fact that it's so valuable would just make me want to part with it less though. I definitely have a problem with letting shit go once I've acquired it, but yeah some prices are fricking insane. I bought a Diablo Swing Orchestra LP when I started collecting for €16 and people have bought it for €200+ recently. It's nuts
I wont sell purely because I've never packaged/shipped records and know how anal buyers get about that stuff. It's nicer to know it's valuable then go through the effort to sell.
I've got a collection of first pressings of every Wilco record that I reckon I'll unload one day after Jeff Tweedy dies in another 30 years
My record collection is huge and it's entirely just stuff I bought to rip because I couldn't find it online and me being too lazy to sell them once I'm done ripping them. Everytime anyone sees my collection I get the "LOL dont u know u can DOWNLOAD music??" shit and I just hate it.
People do realize THEY aren't the one that make their chanel big, no matter how good their content might be, but the algorithm?
Emptyhero literally got erased out of existence by it.
>trust me bro, the video that there's no evidence of it ever existing existed. There's no archived page of the video, no reupload of it, and he's happily showing his collection in his current most recent video, but he totally made the video
You're gullible if you fall for OP's obvious lie.
>buying retro games as props for a YouTube channel
Kek people can smell fake a mile away. I'm a game collector who does YouTube as a hobby and we can all smell fakes. You don't buy games for YouTube you buy em because you like em.
I checked this dudes channel twice before. maybe if he actually made videos about video games while enjoying games instead of just making videos crying about the failure of his channel, I would have been more interested and supportive.
Majority of those who managed to make it big in the field made to where they are because enjoying video games was main priority and everything else followed after. although I wont deny that they themselves have lost their ways and now youtube is just pure shiet.
>all I ever heard about it over the years was IT WAS DOKI DOKI PANIC YOU KNOW >look up the game myself >learn the prototype game was vaguely intended for the Mario series probably and it was Doki Doki that got shoved onto it by licensing mandate, so it being revamped to Mario for the Western market after actual SMB2 was considered too similar/difficult was more like a course correction than the "cheaply plaster Mario over an unrelated game" narrative I'd heard all my life
Why did it take me specifically looking into it to discover any of this? How come they never went more in depth than "IT WAS DOKI DOKI YOU KNOW"?
>>The people who originally talked about it did not have the resources you now have
That was a longass time ago, they've had plenty of time to be a little more accurate in the narrative presented. If anything the Doki Doki aspect is more cheap than revamping it as a Mario game.
>learn the prototype game was vaguely intended for the Mario series probably
No it wasn't, it was a tech demo. Fuji picked it up, and then Nintendo double dipped by using the worldwide release to escape from their obligations after taking a bucket of money to make the game in the first place. The story of DDP is disgusting.
>I SHOULDNT have to work a real job anymore but everyone else should lol >I DESERVE to quit my job and do retro youtubing so I'm going to torpedo my life to make this happen >WTF NO ONE SUPPORTS ME
every one of these Black folk deserves to fail 100%, you don't actually like games you just see it as a convenient way out.
Side note: frick tendie only collectors, if you don't play any sony, sega, atari, NEC, neo geo, arcade PCB etc. in addition blow your homosexual zoy brains out in broad daylight
I've been gainfully employed for a decade at this point, I'm not moronic enough to quit tomorrow and try a failed music career or whatever. Work to pay for your hobbies, if you find a way to flip it into a lifestyle great, but NO ONE is guaranteed success in entertainment industries. You should always have a backup plan.
lol
>buy a bunch of old plastic shit when you can just emulate the games themselves
morons
Nothing wrong with wanting to play on og hardware. The problem is when you buy that shit not because you want it but because you expect to make money off of it
I'd buy a flash cart to play on OG hardware.
Some people like having collections of games or plugging carts into systems. Berating them for it is like berating someone for owning books instead of reading them on a kindle.
Yeah that's fine if it's your hobby, but unless you can form interesting opinions/videos about those retro games, you're sunk.
Gamesack isn't even that good but it pretty much corners the market and you have to compete with them in the retro game market.
>People buy first edition versions of books for far more money than a new print would cost and the experience of both is about equal.
and? those people are moronic too. and the same guy inflating vidya prices with shill bid fake auctions does it to his own collection of books and comics to make suckers think they're worth tons of money.
>Also reading on a kindle is surprisingly close to reading a physical book.
i disagree.
I like to be as objective as possible when I read, without guessing things.
>extrapolating a word's meaning through context is "guessing"
Truly a zoomer.
I already know the meaning of words, I speak English.
define bivouac with no googling because I saw that earlier today
A temporary camp. But even that can be learned through context. The only time you'll see that is shit like
>they decided to bivouac here for the night
or
>the soldiers put sentries around their bivouac site
I'm curious what your exact sentence was that you couldn't figure it out
One of those stupid looking little cubby attempts when you don't have an actual camp. The resort of many an explorer.
>I speak English, which means I know all 180k+ words and all their permutations in all contexts
what you think you know will keep you from learning
The ability to learn a word by hearing it used is more useful than having a kindle with a built in dictionary like some kinda zoomer moron.
>more useful
how so?
and how did you measure this?
By being smarter than you with a larger vocabulary
And yet here you are right next to me.
That's right.
>Yes I will berate people for paying $300 for a used piece of plastic with the same data on it that you can download off of the internet.
OY VEYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
piracy is a crime, goy
Well, I guess there are a few carts with gimmick features like Kirby's Tilt n Tumble, I can understand owning those.
>open calibre
>new update
>have to manually download and install
>a million calibre-setup.exes in my downloads folder
every time
kek yeah i literally just don't even bother to update it anymore unless there's a new feature i'm interested in or a significant bug fix. at least he provides patch notes to see if it's worth bothering with
>calibre
people still use that? I saw no reason to keep using it after israelitemazon came up with a new format with unbreakable DRM
not those anons but i use it to put manga on my kindle, works pretty good, read Kengan Ashura before bed on my kindle
p sure people can decrypt all Kindle formats but I could be wrong
people also probably just pirate the books from libraries (overdrive)
Book hoarding is hell, enjoy carrying all that fricking paper when you have to move. No-one talks about how stupid it is, though, because books are a status symbol.
Used book stores/libraries exist so that people can read paperback without hoarding them inside their house.
>because books are a status symbol.
(so is a collection of toys)
Holy shit this. My boxes of books are the heaviest things to carry. They're not even big boxes comparatively.
shelves of books
boxes of tcg cards
so fricking heavy and a pain to move around when you need to move
you don't want to damage them either so you need to treat them gently despite being heavy af
a lot of people really don't know the pains
mister fpga is the better option if you actually play games instead of collecting but dont want to emulate
og hardware >>> emulated hardware, forever and ever.
fpga is such a fricking meme and is still just fricking emulation. software emulation is completing indistinguishable from hardware emulation for the end user in almost all cases and only autists give a shit if a game is cycle accurate if the experience is exactly the same
based
waiting on my 64 flashcart to come in next week after the shell is done.
I watch 100k-200k subbed channels that get tons of views that freely admit they just emulated the games. There's no point in collecting the physical game with minor exceptions like physical hardware DRM like a peripheral
Depends on the focus on the channel. Hardware enthusiasts have their audience.
Owning it is much more satisfying, you can see it whenever you want, look at the inside, great art and you can have memories with it
doesn't maximilian dood channel feature a lot of fightcade content?
RGT 85, realized the same thing, sold all his retro stuff, and now shills the dedicated emulator chinese mini-PC's that get sent to him for free in between making rage-bait videos. He figured out how to make it.
If you were to do a retro channel like this, the ideal is just to emulate until you have enough money to buy real hardware, then show it off if you need to.
lmao
like a Black person spending his paycheck on shoes
You know these genz are tech illiterate.
Yes, anon, that guy in the OP is clearly Gen Z.
?? it's a bunch of gen Xers that act like this about old games
If you actually enjoy games then yeah, you emulate them. Some people enjoy collecting games for the sake of collecting, and it's fun to watch people who are passionate about something excitedly share their hobbies.
You can kinda tell when someone isn't genuine about it, and then it's just not fun to watch.
>it's fun to watch people who are passionate about something excitedly share their hobbies
what
no it's not
Basef
>Emulation
troony behavior. Just get a flash cartridge.
emulatorgays are probably the only sector more annoying than crtgays when it comes to retro gaming
Emulating is great and the most accessible and quickest way to play any game. It's probably one of the greatest things that will ever happen to videogames period. And of course there are things I won't ever buy. You won't see me grabbing a copy of the adventures of little ralph on psx. I'd rather burn a copy or play on pc.
annoying but at least we have games to play that are improved from their original version
emulatorchad actually play their games
collectortrannies just post photos of their collections on reddit for upboats
Emulation is superior imagine playing PS2 JRPGs dubbed in English lmao.
It's trivial to load disc images from a HDD on a PS2.
>review old games
>have a segment on my reviews dedicated to emulation and PC enhancements for old games
>always have some moron in my comments chimping out at BUT MUH ORIGINAL HARDWARE
They hated him because he spoke the truth.
Isn't it technically illegal to emulate games that you don't own?
Wouldn't that breach some kind of twitch or YouTube rules?
no one ever gets banned for posting emulator footage you subhuman shill
>actual child
they were for his youtube channel, not for playing. Collector channels don't exist for playing games, you absolute fricking moron.
>this is my collection
>cool, so what now
>????????
WHY DID MY CHANNEL FAIL
Not only that but you can store everything on a fricking hdd.
>hdd
Get with the times grandpa
It's not even that (ignoring the bait about collecting) and the fact that a youtube channel like that just doesn't have a hook
>hey gamers look at all this old crap i've bought
Like who cares?
>hey gamers look at the intricacies of how we handled the 3d in the old SNES/Genesis Toy Story games
Now we're talkin'. If I wanna watch retroslop, I wanna hear it from a nerd, not a geek.
?si=OzWSFa_k_YBJ5699
kino inbound btw
You're an idort if you spend money on games and consoles you've never actually played. Collectors are genuinely autistic.
How new are you that's not what idort means
yes, yes, now let me tell you my list of top 20 gamecube hidden gems.
#20: Mario Sunshine
#19 Luigi's Mansion
Yes this 2 hour tech demo is soooo amazing bros. It's way better than the more replayable The Bouncer on PS2.
#18 Twilight Princess
Many of you might not be aware, but before this game was released on the Wii U, or the wii... it was on Gamecube! Nuts, right?
#17 Monsters, Inc. Scream Arena
A true blue Gamecube exclusive: Dumb and only purchased for kids because the parents don't know better.
#16 Gotcha Force
I haven't actually played it, but it cost me $600 complete in box, so it's probably alright.
#15 Resident Evil Remake
Now this may have been ported to every console under the sun at this point, but this overpriced copy where you have to switch the discs is the ONLY way to play it.
Damn, metal Jesus is actually right for once. Broken clocks...
#14 Smash Brother Melee
This is the first game that ever had Marth from Fire Emblem Awakening, the #1 game from my list of to 20 favorite 3ds games of all time (2023 version).
#13 Donkey Konga
I mean... I have to justify owning this stupid piece of plastic. Watch me bang it out to Happy Birthday and Louie Louie!
Why would you buy that game on a gamecube when you can have the same experience for 4.99 every few months.
To he fair, the lighting in the remaster is fricked up. You can keep coping about this but it's fact. It is an actual lesser product. To test this go to the stairwell in the left wing and you will see light does not register on the player model shoulders. Now do it on Gamecube

50k views makes $2?
Youtube doesn't pay much.
I have a fairly successful channel and it pays maybe 500 a month.
Most of the money is in streaming unless you're getting a million views on every video
Name.
Black person killer 1488
subbed, thanks
oh i was already subbed to you
How many views on average does it take to receive 500 dollars?
No, 50k views pays like 2c now.
Good, maybe people youngsters would stop thinking about "making it big" with the internet.
Except for chicks with onlyfans because there is no shortage of lonely virgins
Even the average onylfans person is making 180 dollars a month.
Adsense has always payed like shit because Youtube rakes in the bulk of the revenue for themselves. Creators with a sizeable audience leverage that to shill their own merch, patreon, or to get in contact with brands directly for marketing contracts that actually pay the bills.
its not a real video
Then what is it
bait image
1k views makes ~£2 so about $2.60
People wonder why youtube content is garbage, meanwhile the bottom of the barrel shit on Discovery+ or History Channel has a $250000 budget per episode (and gets similar views)
why else do you think most youtubers are constantly shilling something or asking for gibs
unironically too much. should be doing it for free
Yeah youtube has repeatedly paid out worse and worse because google keeps defrauding advertisers.
yeah bro
good thing Pewdiepie put a fricking STOP to that and decided that NOBODY should be overpaid, amirite bro
BROFISTING DEEP INSIDE YOUR ASS BRO
yeah all the social media shit pays like trash
Tiktok for example pays $10 per million views.
the real money is in getting people to donate to you directly via patreon, or in selling merch.
?si=qoRExxY1mFolv0-Q
this guy talks about it somewhere in the vid. for him it's 1k views = 2 british pounds
>1k views = £2
>1 view = £0.002 = 0.2p
>YT premium costs £12.99/month
>12.99/0.002 = 6495 videos watched per month for it to be worth the cost
And that, israelitetube, is why I will continue to adblock.
>be moronic
Anon youtube pays for itself. Are you so fricking moronic you can't get 10K view a month uploading a video of a bird once a month?
Like come on. That's fricking embarrassing dude.
The pictured vid has vary clickbaity title and thumbnail, it probably did much better numbers than his other shit.
Depends on niche, gaming can be anywhere from $8-$11 per 1k views. But a video like this is going to be a traffic driver, his average vids probably get 1/10 of that. Just went all in on a shrinking niche
Say thanks to pewdiepie for saying Black person on stream when he was still relevant
ad revenue pays in cost per mille (CPM: payment per 1,000 views), and YouTube adjusts that based on the content and level of engagement (eg if 1,000 people watch the entire video the creator will get more money than if 1,000 watched half of it), so it can be very volatile
also YouTube adjusts CPM rates with very short notice. about 5 years ago the rate for ASMR was about $9, which is why that whispering trash grew so massive, but then yt dropped it to $3 and bankrupted thots who just spent $10k on some NASA microphone
nah its bullshit
there are plenty of youtubers who break it down and show if you can get 80k subs and like 20k views a video you can live comfortably on that income and make like 80k/y on that
if you also stream on top of that, patreon, sponsorships, or just get more viewers you make good cash
don't let anyone try to grift u into thinking they are doing well for themselves when they have many viewers
What did he frick up?
Most things with streaming doesn't pay much in general unless there is a direct price tag, even then there is a lot of factors.
damn... he spent nearly three weeks of paychecks (worst case, barely full time, working as the lowest caste of wageslaves) on a bunch of stuff that can be re-sold for the far majority of its value...
>can be re-sold for the far majority of its value...
Someone will buy it, he just has to wait...
>SkeletonOnBench.jpg
I guess you can say that he didn't game the system of Youtube's algorythm.
>don't want to work an actual job
>spend all your money on toys like thousands of others
>start a youtube channel thinking you can basedface your way into popularity and get a steady income doing nothing
>fails
>start another channel doing something equally worthless
Sorry millenniacuck, back to the coding mines for you.
Is this fake? I dont see it on youtube
Ganker I think spammed the comments and he might have deleted/privated the video
well? why didnt you archive it dumb Black person?
sounds reasonable. his newest video is 2 months old and he is just under 20k subs.
A few weird things popped in my algorithm like some redbearded cuck who buy and flips games and another guy named something reseller. These guys are the worst humans around
theres no way Ganker is stupid enough to make 20 replies for a video that isnt even uploaded right?
surely this board isnt that moronic
I watched it like a year ago. It was real but he deleted the video.
its real he probably deleted after people called him a useless jobless manchild
So did he stop his retro channel?
The real problem was his lack of charisma.
Plenty of retro channels that make a decent enough buck.
>The real problem was his lack of charisma.
It's because he's autistic but he didn't know until last year, so he never had any help learning how to cope with his lack of social skills or charisma.
?t=203
I saw this guy posted on Ganker a year ago and clocked him as a sperg immediately when I saw his setup and cable management, I can't believe he didn't know.
>So he didn't know?
Ok now I feel bad
Also his autism probably prevents him from emulating because 'it's not da real thing'
most people can only play games they have sunk money into ie sunken cost fallacy they don't actually like games
>has a fricking WIFE
>has the guts to make a youtube channel and make content
He's clearly not autistic you dumb c**ts, he's larping for attention like all normies.
He has an entire video talking about his autism diagnosis and assessment. If you don't believe that just try watching one of his videos, its very clear.
buy an ad, whatever your name is
This guy has a wife, which requires massive social skills to get, this guy is just faking it for attention gtfoh.
>This guy has a wife
He talks about that. His wife is also autistic.
?t=1095
>has a fricking WIFE
If autists didn't pass on their genes there wouldn't be any more autists, what kind of moronic objection is that?
Counterpoint: autism genes passed down come from autismettes mostly.
Women select for men with an IQ of 90 more than anything else and a man with an IQ of 80 is more likely to get laid than a man with an IQ of 110. Every point of IQ above 90 reduces your chances with the opposite sex. Women are stupid and intimidated by mens real intelligence.
>believes some random test he took
Don't be gullible. Autism is a money making machine. Getting a diagnosis is gay.
The test was just part of an assessment with a licensed professional. That's one of the standard ways you get a real diagnosis.
That's autistic thinking.
You can't even read what I said, yet you claim it is wrong.
I can read what you said, the issue is what you said is moronic.
You aren't comprehending it, otherwise you wouldn't have claimed it was wrong.
Yeah I think you might just be straight up r'arted and 'tistic.
This is something only a very autistic person would say because some people are very very obviously autistic when you interact with them.
Or a rightwing antivaxxer. Maybe both!
>He's clearly not autistic you dumb c**ts, he's larping for attention like all normies.
Look at his mouth in this photo anon. He is autistic as frick. And so is his wife. That's why they work together neither figured out the other is fricked up so they matched. Autists can get married and hold jobs and shit. There are degrees of spergery that can hold jobs and shit.
Have you ever had a relationship of any kind?
>only looks
Blackpill only works as a general rule or if you're really 3/10.
> autism is associated with higher levels of testosterone in the womb which also leads to better facial definition.
wat. There is literally studies on AI recognizing autism from facial structure, showing that autistic people have basically FAS-tier facial structure.
wtf shes hot where the frick is my hot autist wife?
To be fair he could make a decent profit by selling them, so yes it was an investment. The guy is still a moron for trying to be a content creator
A lot of big deals in retro space are insider trading to drive up prices and money laundering. It is pretty unlikely for unconnected normal people to make legit huge deals. He will get his own back definitely unless he was one of those dummies who bought with inflated prices.
Got a few old systems knocking around mods and such are just another part of the hobby but the retro scene just got full of scalpers left and right at that point emulating is the best only old gays like me are going to be nostalgic for this shit it’s just not worth the money
>Finally got to playthrough this online co-op via RPCS3's RPCN
>People who own this game on "real hardware" literally can't do the same because of Gamespy
Holy. Fricking. Kino.
I don't know what you heard about it, whether it's on PS3 or Xbox 360, but it's not on Nintendo's little Wii, because this games a motherfricking P-I-M-P.
Lmao vro nobody cares about le hard to play Black person game you found out about 9n youtube. We saw your thread last night and didn't reply. Stop gassing up this hot garbage
got to playthrough this online co-op via RPCS3's RPCN
Awesome! The console cucks brutally cucked. lmao
Dumb Black person, I literally played and finished this last year on Series X online coop. Sucks to be a snoygay (you).
guess he didn't take the message a year back
>The response video is up but the original might be lost to time
People going out of their way to inorganically attempt an influencer career as a primary job will always feel weird to me.
I know people who drop their jobs and buy the most expensive shit just to sit at 2 views.
>7k subs
>500-3k views per vid
>$10 mic
>no patreon begging or sub homosexualry
feels good mang
It's one of those jobs that seems attainable to nearly anyone, like being an author. Until you actually try to do it and realize you suck at it and have no idea how to improve. Or worse, you don't realize you suck at it and you continue doing it for years thinking it's just about luck.
>surely the algorithm will pick me this year!
>inorganically
>I don't want to turn my hobbies into a job I dread
same reason i will never push my art to be my source of income
i enjoy drawing, and making money off it will take away a lot of the enjoyment, no matter how much my friends think i could make money off getting better and doing porn or some shit
plus it is indeed highly doubtful it could ever replace a regular jagoff job in terms of income, since like all things in the content creation industry, the people who get stupid rich off it are top 0.1%
godspeed anon. Pursue your passions for your passions sake, life and art begins outside of work
Holy crap is it possible to have less charisma?
He's so pathetic.
>the Autism test video
>retro gaming channel
>nothing about video games
>just "give me attention!" videos
woah, I wonder why he's failing
The dumbest thing about the 'WALL OF CONSOLES' people is that they insist on hooking them ALL UP at the same time despite most actual people only hooking up and using consoles as needed.
Even AVGN's famous setup was a convoluted joke that was limited to composite.
>:3 >
>keep making videos about how your channel is a failure
>this does not make it successful

The one downside of letting the bulls poz your wife

It's time to hit the gym anon.

If you want to frick other men
what do you suggest anon?
Get a tulpa
33 here, absolutely detest the gym. not as thin as i used to be but omg anything but the gym. been riding 20miles a day on my bicycle but it doesnt seem enough
It so weird when you see someone who is supposedly beneath you in every way EXCEPT he has a family.
The hentai mangas Level C, Level C- and Level D helped me understand why am I wrong. They can't help with changing yourself though. But at least you can give up in peace I guess?
>Responding To My Haters (and Having Fun Doing It)
I hate passive aggressive stuff like this. He's clearly seething.
Pretty much, people that are actually comfortable won't even notice they have 'haters'.
It's the fact that he has to assert he is indeed having fun doing it is how you know he isn't having fun doing it. If he was having fun - he wouldn't need to do this attempt at convincing you and himself.
>me and my wife
IT'S MY WIFE AND I YOU SUB-100 IQ FRICK
I do feel bad that he didn't find success, but I also think he didn't play his cards right. Should have built up an audience to test the waters of making content and seeing what works before quitting his job. You always gotta plan these things out, not everyone is lucky and blessed by the algorithm.
Wrong quote I am a fool
Meant to quote
>pic
Holy shit braindead idiot, die already
it doesn't have anything to do with where it is in the sentence. the simple test is to remove the part of the sentence that isn't the personal pronoun and see if it still reads correctly.
"Top 10 Games Me Play..." is wrong, so it should be "My wife and I"
he looks depressed and self loathing in all of his thumbnails
good vibes attract good vibes
>why isn't he doing the soi face in every thumbnail?!?!?
>NOOOOO
You know soifacing and looking like you just got a colon cancer diagnosis are not the only two possible faces you can make, right?
>every video is some variation of "me me me"
>how I do this, games I like, what I do
Hard to imagine why people aren't interested
so, youre saying shes single now?
I unironically watch and enjoy this guys content
He's got truly awful taste to the extent that it's actually refreshing, since it's so different from the average boring consensus takes
Despite having no charisma, he somehow has a wife. Life's not fair man.
this gay looks like if a normie who knows nothing about vidya tried to inorganically become an e-celeb gamer on youtube
>another pseud learns that if you build it, they won't just come
many such cases
I like how he had to draw arrows to his wife and himself. We would be lost otherwise.
Okay but why do his thumbnails literally look like this.
would you prefer soi face?
Yes.
He sounds like he hasn't had a single original video idea in his entire life
>4 videos in a year
>about topics literally no one cares about
>cries about only making $2
That's a good image
Lindybeigemaxxing rarely works because people aren't controversial enough to pull it off
Kek, the whole "making a living just by playing vidya" left a decade ago, you should've started it when people like Pewdiepie had started to blow up at the time to actually get the chance to make it. Also I bet tons of others people back then did succeeded, but since they never made actually good content or changed their ways to bring something new, their fanbase just died off, because they grew up and moved on with life, and probably a lot of them could afford to get a console themselves too to play instead of watching YT.
>$2/day revenue
How the frick are most of these youtubers staying afloat?
with sponsors
Yeah, that much money. It's an Israeli game so that money was already just given to them by the US anyway.
i refuse to believe that piece of shit game makes any amount of money on its own. it has to be some kind of shell company
You would be surprised as to how much money mobile games make. After all, the mobile game industry makes more than the PC and console industry combined. Whenever you see a middle aged woman or little kid on their phone outside, just know that they're probably dropping $5-10 every week on some shit like candy crush or raid.
Shilling sponsorships and farming the lonely c**ts via Patreon coins with some good ole fashioned parasocial relations.
>farming the lonely c**ts via Patreon coins
this is the most disgusting part. their goal isn't to make something cool and show it. the videos are an excuse, a trick to con lone unwitting saps into ponying up.
imagine getting in video ads for someone you simp for already
The final goal of every gaytuber is getting sponsorship + shilling their own tasteless chinese made merchandises + exclusive/early access content via patreon and shit.
Merch, direct sponsors, or google just paying them better rates than literally EVERYONE else bringing in money, even in the situation that they're actively being paid with money meant to go to other video creators.
>Merch, direct sponsors, or google just paying them better rates than literally EVERYONE else bringing in money, even in the situation that they're actively being paid with money meant to go to other video creators.
Um, this post is kinda antisemitic
Raid: shadow legends.
That's his most viewed video. The dude averages 15k views. You start making exponentially more once you start consistently 200k+ views.
30ish thousand viewers on a video nets you 200-300 dollars. i've seen it with my own eyes
If you start a YouTube channel with the purpose of solely making money you're a fricking homosexual
I've thought about buying tvs or some shit doing some review about it then returning it. Is that fairly commonplace?
>Be me
>Seeing the retro game boom during covid
>Really want to play an older game
>Bro is really into Pokemon and swears HG and SS are the best ones
>Never owned a DS as a kid so didn't play
>Have a 3ds now and look online for a copy
>Cheapest one is $250
>Download an emulator and rom to play for free
Retro gays are fricking cancer. Feels good when one of these gays hits hard times
all retro gaming is basically willing to buy a game to play
But most of the sphere are fricking shills trying to get an extra dollar
You don't even need to emulate it you can just hack the goddamn thing.
Why are megaman gays consistently such b***hes?
No new games in like a decade'll frick you up bro. Don't know how BoF fans deal with it.
Nah. Even when they had new games, megaman fandom was severely fricked in the collective head. They have been for a long ass time.
BOF gets by by not being nearly as moronic and uppity. Which is even weirder, when you think about it, considering all the furry in that series.
It's because the south americans don't give a shit about BoF. It's amazing how popular BN and Zero still are in Brazil
Zero is not popular at all in any country.
>megaman gays
The guy is wearing a MM shirt, Not because he's a MM fan. Rather MM is a "retro icon".
Unless you bought some stupid rare game like stadium events, I don't see the appeal of buying a game that is readily available because of ebay.
It's 'bragging rights', anon. A lot of people are hyped into buying certain games for their shelves because of Youtuber peer pressure.
Earthbound is the prime example of this.
Interesting. However: physical > digital
I own my HDD, tho.
When you die your relatives will throw out everything you used to own that doesn't have an immediate use case. I went through this with my grandad. He had so much bullshit that it took us a day to go through his old stuff. Don't kid yourself. You own garbage because videogames are shit and always have been
cool story bro
nice pic of you
>$2 daily revenue
Must be why so many sirs are flooding pootube lately
i think the biggest reason this kind of content doesn't get views anymore is because we now have a decade+ of the same content already on yt thats been told 100s of times by 100s of different people. every retro console and game has been reviews and analyzed to death. its time ytbers think of something new
Sounds like he should’ve shilled for RAID: Shadow Legends.
>buying old games and consoles for manchild background shelf decorations for your youtube channel
>not buying old games and consoles to play and enjoy and appreciate
youtubers are pathetic
As an adult it's much harder; if you don't have a real medical issue to exploit use unemployment insurance instead.
i remember getting picked out for a "special class" in like second grade 20 years ago
basically got out of having to do math so i could draw pictures and dick around for two weeks before they said i didnt need to be there
>it's an easy trip to a tugboat.
I'm not familiar with this expression.
Ok so on February 24th, 1982 a boy named Christopher was born in Charlottesville, Virginia..
Retro games should never be an investment. You should buy them because you like them and want to play them. Anything else is moronic and queer.
>making a youtube channel as a business instead of a hobby
what a moron, most successful channels pre-covid had dozens of videos across years before being blessed by the algorithm
Good. People like this gay making a "career" out of collecting games are ruining it for anyone who just likes having physical stuff.
>I NEED israeliteTOOBBUX AAAAAA
the problem is youtube is no longer for pure entertainment
His patreon is even stranger.
Realistically speaking if he's moronic enough to consider buying a bunch of old videogames an "investment" he would have blown that money on dumb shit like a BMW or crypto
>didn't take the Raid Shadow Legends/Nord VPN shill pill
NGMI
There's something deeply pathetic about the 40+ age bracket skinnyfat guys wearing clothes with games and shit on them
>market is saturated with old games reviews
>better spend lots of money to join the shitshow
>don't profit
I don't understand. Unless you're a good looking thot, have big backers or oldgays started in israelitetube, it's fricking suicide trying to make a career in israelitetube.
ur supposed to start a retro gaming channel ONLY if you actually already have the shit
what kind of moron does it the other way around
He spent thousands in order to get a tax write-off. Sounds like he's gaming the systems
Why don't you ever do this to the porn threads, homosexual?
replying to a porn thread gets you banned
Because he's a wannabe jannie
Half of his videos is crying about how poorly his channel is doing.
>holding mic in hand
What's the deal with that?
it's a response to the rise of professional video productions on youtube, who have traditional media sensibilities and boom mic operators.
That's the beard you're going with huh?
post your own
Shit, was is charisma anyways?
The ability to be memorable.
the ability to hold people's attention and interest without boring them or offending them.
ask the venerated moustache man
this is why the retro market booming pissed me off. Granted I have some collectibles that are sealed and staying as such, but those are rare exceptions and I often have other copies of them anyway.
the worst part is it's an artificial boom.
prices are being gamed by auction houses and their buddies in the appraisal business.
If there's any silver lining it's that repro carts exist and go for around 30 dollars
>Spent thousands
>Daily revenue $2
Good, frick you.
All I wanted to do was play Veiwtiful Joe and Twin Snakes on original hardware, maybe get a Gameboy Player, but you soicuck Black personhomosexuals had to shit up the "retro games" market because you gays thought you could flip that shit to other morons but surprise, no one is paying you multiple hundreds of dollars for second-to-fifth-hand goods.
I'm so happy I bought Twin Snakes back in 2010 at Gamestop for like 40$.
Let's pray that market crashes and prices plummet fast.
I'll save for them, if I need to.
what caused you to sell in the first place?
Looks like a emaciated version of Joe from Gamesack. And that dude knows his way around hardward. Would would be the point in watching a way shitter version of gamesack
Did he want to be the next classic game room or something?
>retro collection paid for my house extensions
>will put my children through college
>able to define my work hours to spend more time with family
>will be able to retire on it
Maybe get better. I just earned $2k over the weekend selling a couple of N64 and switch game doubles
oh nonono physicalsisters... our response???
Getting to be 40 myself and im still a wage cuck with no end in sight. I have 2 room huge collection and im started asking myself what am i sitting on all these games for? The vast majority are not special or hold no meaning, just filling space on a shelf. Would buy rare expensive games for "street cred" as if someone was going to vet me on how hardcore i was or something. What was on? Honestly terrified of going through the embarassment of having to move out one day and dragging all this shit with me like a loser. Im making an effort to downsize and just keep the games I love or have a lot of potential.
I think people are fed up with retro channels, now they want some personality behind it
why cant i find the videos about him quitting his job or the retro channel being a failure?
>kamikaze yourself hoping randoms to feel sorry for you to generate more views/subs
>backpedals when people don't fall for it and point out your bullshit
>deletes video and pretends nothing happened
>retro youtube channel
>job
>buy system I like
>mod it to run pirated games
ez
>tucked shirt
>BAD
what happened?
same thing as wearing a suit. it used to be normal, now it's only appropriate in certain contexts. standards change. you look like a weirdo tucking in your t-shirt unless you're exercising, working or are at a formal event.
>tucking a t-shirt while excercising
why
depends on the exercise. loose clothing can get caught on things. i do muay thai and always tuck my shirt when we spar so people don't get their toes caught in it, for example
>you wanted to do something like this but were too afraid to try
>you now laugh at a man that failed because it makes you feel better about your cowardice
Better get to bed you have to wake up for that job you hate tomorrow 🙂
I like my job tho
I'd never do it expecting it to live out of it, especially when you gotta sell your soul chasing trends in order to fish for viewers.
lol i like my job, i get paid to do nothing all day. hell i'm even posting on Ganker while on the job right now!
sucks to suck, Black person
no it makes me feel better about my massive fricking brain
>investments
you can call it whatever you want, but hoarding is a mental illness.
the man has a submission fetish and is lurking this thread wiener in hand. yes hes a gay but infinitly less gay than over-the-top tryhard retro israelitetubers. and yeah he actually plays games.
Fake news, the video never existed.
>Fake news, the video never existed.
Fake news, the video never existed.
>Fake news, the video never existed.
Bait thread. People don't look things up?
It's not even news anymore, this guy has been made fun of on here for maybe a year now. Just check the archives, it's a real video.
I'm curious to watch the actual video. Did the guy take it down or something
Imagine him posing for this picture trying to look suitably downcast.
>investing in muh gay retro market instead of collecting for the sake of hardware enthusiasm
i hope more morons follow in liquidating their shit to people who actually give a shit
The retro market is COOMING bro, you'll see
it's already on its way out, anon. the zoomers and millenials alike who bought into the market meme are panicking, and those who were in too late are demoralized as soon as they see the prices. the market is not in a good place right now and i couldn't be happier, frick these ebay israelites
For real. I keeping hearing about everybody "getting out of collecting (wtf)" and selling everything. Good. Keep it coming. Flood that marketpussy.
>reveiw of mario bros game
>its the 2020s
Who the frick watches these fricking retro reveiw channels? (Other than nobody)
Reupload?
If you're doing it to make money you've alredy failed. Do it because you like it and be glad if you make money too.
>WHY PAY FOR THINGS JUST BE A Black person
funny how the poors always expose themselves.
If you buy anything other than games you intend to play at some point you are a gay
Selling them later for exorbitant amounts is just a bonus in case you didn't like the game enough to keep it
that whole room is worth sixteen grand
why does Ganker get so upset by vidya investors?
My only issue is really that they call themselves collectors when they're not by definition because collecting is the act of gathering, not reselling.
As an actual collector (AKA someone who buys things up with intent to use, not resell) you can have my collection over my literal dead body.
Call yourself an investor, that's fine, but stop tricking people into believing you're one of us to rip off people who don't know better, scumbucket scalper.
>buys things up with intent to use
way to contradict yourself. collectors gather, they don't use.
use wears down the goods.
link?
I remember we shat on this guy like, what, a year ago at this point? He had zero connection to retro gaming, brought everything recently and his videos were total garbage.
unironically you'd probably have an easier time starting off as a lolcow and trying to parlay that into a successful influencer career. hate watching is still watching and you have to get engagement from somewhere.
Any links to the videos he deleted?
He could have saved thousands and bought one simple device
anon the whole point for these people is to have the original console
>Spent Thousands
Why at least not start small with an NES + A couple of games then by more retro stuff as the channel grows.
>Investments
>Spent a shitload on already opened products and inspect a raise in value
Is he fricking crazy?
Wait until you learn about coin collecting. You're going to lose your mind.
Coins have value
Opened/tampered with shit, that has a function, does not
It's honestly fricking hilarious how backwards you have that.
>a slabbed coin no longer circulates as money to be spent on goods, but as a historical artifact
>an opened video game is by definition ready to be played
The latter does have value, but the value is signifigantly less, is all.
After a thing is removed from its packaging and can no longer qualify as "Mint In Box", its value is subjective to how good of condition it's currently in, and how complete it is(ie: do you have the box, manual, excess shit that was packaged with it etc)
It's not a binary value/no value situation, especially not to autistic collectors, but you're right that you'd have to be a moron to buy vidya as an investment.
Pokémon Crystal was 30 CAD when it released. Even just CIB it's over 700 now.
And it's not just old shit. I have couple year old discount bin things for the Switch that I got for 20 sitting at like 165 already CIB.
>check pokemon crystal release date
Is it only poorgays that unironically care about this shit? Like you can make that same money easily with a single stock in a few years, and that shit is all done digital so it doesn't take up any space. I don't care if your house is big, it's still wasted space and that's actual hoarder mentality.
mostly young zoomers that don't understand real investing/finance
Lack of financial literacy is common regardless of generation but this is more of a boomer/millennial shit. Especially since they're also the biggest demographic when it comes to home ownership.
wait this homie spent thousands of dollars on old consoles for the sole purpose of making money with youtube videos? L M F A O
>Also i never play them because
kys zoomer
>zoomer
I know that i have good looks, anon. But i'm forty.
you have the mentality of a child if you think emulation beats original hardware though, decomps maybe but not emulation.
You're basically only right if we're limiting this to PS2 and original xbox.
Are you the moron that bought that shit
and cries again and again because you couldn't run the PS2 emulator?
but duuuuuuuude real hardware
i bet that guy has no 1ccs whatsoever
What more is there to say about these games? Youtubers have now been doing this shtick for longer than the entire era of these games lasted was. Its crazy.
I wish people did Jontron/Projared/AVGN review skits still. All of the overly pretentious 30+ minute essay videos are samey and exhausting.
so this homosexual bought the retro games and consoles not because he likes them, but to start a youtube channel?
serves him right.
>I'm bad with computers
Grandma could install an emulator. It's not hard
Rest of your post I agree with.
>Zoomers have an "old good new bad" mentality concerning things they weren't even born for, that they believe fills the void they have where a personality should be.
No. It's because most of the time, old shit is juet genuinely better. Most modern games won't even start if you're not connected to the Internet.
NOOOO IT'S JUST NOSTALGIA NOOOO!
EVERYONE ISN'T RECOGNIZING THAT THERE'S SOMETHING CLEARLY FRICKING WRONG NOOOOO!
>Everbody who plays retro games is a poser but me
"Fr?", as they say.
damn you were born in the wrong generation!!!
>Young people that see classic games say "Eww, it's old
Kids grow up playing Minecraft and Terraria these days, pixel art and low poly games are flooding Steam
>15k views on average
>2 bucks
that's sad.
I have no love for this moron but 15k views average is nothing to scoff at.
I picture him fricking his wife the way CWC fricked Julay
Frick him, people like him who didn't actually play the games and just wanted some influencer collection made the prices of older games skyrocket.
For people who are not neets who live with their mummy for free, you have to emulate now.
Maybe it's more that plastic junk deteriorates over time and becomes rarer and rarer
Well if that was the case you wouldn't have people both hoarding and destroying hundreds of copies of games to "make them rarer"
Many 30yrs old boomers will die and not able to afford the ridiculous price for the old shits. Many zoomers and alpha gays would be poorer and find those old shits clunky. Anyone will get them for FREE. It is just lose-lose situation for the cucked collectors. Now is a good time to sell cuz that market will decline slowly.
that very video is an investment, and your making it pay off
You need to be charismatic, to have a pleasant voice AND to have a not shit take on vidya... AND to be able to coherently convey why certain games work/don't work.
At least he tried I guess but he could've started a legitimate business with the money he spend on shitty collecting. I dont understand why you need real hardware to talk about games, just emulate Black person
I mean it's understandable really, he went for the retro collection background aesthetic, look at AVGN for example.
AVGN was lucky to be the first person to do it in the early youtube days. He has personality of a brick and if he were to start the channel in year 2024 he would do far worse than this poor shmuck likely
This dude got to deduct the cost of his toys from his day job income
why do nintendubers feel like they need to spend thousands of dollars to have a bunch of games in the background as they talk?
It can be used to trick the viewer into believing you are an authority on the subject. Since the natural inclination is to not assume you are attempting to trick the viewer.
>the natural inclination
more like common sense. it's an easy way to earn 'nerd cred' as these hacks call it.
Don't just unbox retro shit on youtube, that's one of the most saturated markets on the fricking platform.
>money money money truth about [money]
How vapid as a person do you have to to be to watch someone like that?
There is nothing else to do but acquire currency
>falling for an invention made by israelites
Ok israelite.
good goy
They idolize that lifestyle because they're stuck salting fries at the mcdonalds drive thru for minimum wage while waiting for their diabetic parents to die so they can inherit a house they'll never be able to afford the land tax on.
>starting a channel without the charisma to back it up
oof
this homie really spent thousands on old console(lol!) hardware when he could've just emulated.
what a moron lolllll
You... don't need to spend thousands on physical copies to start a retro gaming channel, how much of a poser is this guy?
Meanwhile frickers like Harman Smith are pulling in millions because of how they diversified their content. (Writing books, investing, working a real job on top of streaming and making videos daily)
Imagine wanting to replicate avgn down to the hardware nearly two fricking decades after the fact, what a frickin moron.
>Uploading content on Youtube only for the sake of making money instead of having fun
Monetization on Youtube was a huge mistake.
>Retro channel
>WHOA GUYS LET'S TALK ABOUT MARIO AND SONIC AND OTHER NORMIE POPULAR GAMES LIKE ZELDA
Frick off already, there are so cloned homosexuals like this, be original like LGR or something.
LGR singlehandedly killed the retro pc market
>kills retro PC market, killing all channel competitors
OUT FRICKING SKILLED
>chub fatass with those skinny arms
Why do females fall for these guys.
>chub fatass
Genuine question for everyone.
Explain vtubers, streamers, fake girl gamers, people who watch sad shit like AGDQ and other crap then
I usually just don't click but for shit like this I skip it or just get my answer by going forwards and gambling then hit the ignore button yeah.
I already know it's going to be a cheap and lazy content farm. Unless it's about a niche topic, it's not worth it
Sounds like the systems, gamed him
This moron didn't stop to think what was he going to talk about in his channel that could be any remotely interesting
>tfw you collect vinyl records and have no interest in physical games
I've never done it for the investment aspect, more with how you interact and enjoy the medium itself (big cover art, inner sleeves/liner notes, listening to an album from start to finish) but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about just selling all of them for the cash. I started collecting in 2016 and Discogs says my collection could theoretically go for €25,000+ and that doesn't even count some decent bootlegs people would pay good money for
>Have an OOP ep from a cult favorite emo band from the 2010s that I periodically get messaged for begging me to sell for thousands of dollars
That's not even a real video. It isn't even on his channel.
He deleted it dumbass
>trust me bro, the video that there's no evidence of it ever existing existed. There's no archived page of the video, no reupload of it, and he's happily showing his collection in his current most recent video, but he totally made the video
You're gullible if you fall for OP's obvious lie.
if i see a nintendo logo in someones youtube i just report them to nintendo
>buying retro games as props for a YouTube channel
Kek people can smell fake a mile away. I'm a game collector who does YouTube as a hobby and we can all smell fakes. You don't buy games for YouTube you buy em because you like em.
Who the frick gets nostalgic over video games?
Just go play them, they're probably on steam.
What is his Retro Video Game channel about?
The shocking truth behind the US version of Super Mario Bros 2, and a little-known Japanese game called "Dorky Dorky Panic"
>all I ever heard about it over the years was IT WAS DOKI DOKI PANIC YOU KNOW
>look up the game myself
>learn the prototype game was vaguely intended for the Mario series probably and it was Doki Doki that got shoved onto it by licensing mandate, so it being revamped to Mario for the Western market after actual SMB2 was considered too similar/difficult was more like a course correction than the "cheaply plaster Mario over an unrelated game" narrative I'd heard all my life
Why did it take me specifically looking into it to discover any of this? How come they never went more in depth than "IT WAS DOKI DOKI YOU KNOW"?
The people who originally talked about it did not have the resources you now have, and the people who talk about it now do not have the volition to.
I'd feel bad if he was someone knowledgeable who actually had passion for gaming, but it's obvious this guy doesn't. He's as useful as Scott the Woz.
>I SHOULDNT have to work a real job anymore but everyone else should lol
>I DESERVE to quit my job and do retro youtubing so I'm going to torpedo my life to make this happen
>WTF NO ONE SUPPORTS ME
every one of these Black folk deserves to fail 100%, you don't actually like games you just see it as a convenient way out.
Side note: frick tendie only collectors, if you don't play any sony, sega, atari, NEC, neo geo, arcade PCB etc. in addition blow your homosexual zoy brains out in broad daylight
He says while being a NEET. Nobody with things going for them posts on Ganker bro.
And what specifically is his Retro Channel about? Having a lot of older consoles is just a couple of full shelves, what is the hook of the channel?
he's playing stuff you never even heard of bucko like the rare and mysterious sega 32x add-on or the TURBOGRAFX(the WHAT??)
the WHAAAAAAAAA? thats not a NES addon WHAAAAAAAAAAA? WTF??????????????
