steam fully supports PS4/PS5 controllers now thanks to this, even unity games
you can even customize (aka disable) the annoying blue light in the options menu
I've spent a total of 40 dollars on third party PC controllers in the past 10 years. But I play the old asscreed titles on m&kb because it's just better that eay.
there are some scenarios where picking a controller over mouse and keyboard are more comfortable but it's ok anon you are likely way to autistic to accept that fact
This guy knows. The further back you go, the more true this was. Everyone had a joystick for their Amiga. I mean come on. We've regressed so much as a species, like holy shit.
>racing game with KB&M >fighting game game with KB&M >platforming game with game with KB&M
There are only like 3 or so genres of vidya that are better with KB&M
There is a word in there its called HIT, not pressbox.
the hit box has large buttons, not kjeys, and what else has buttons....a controller.
Plus its not the best fighting game device at all, this is debatable sure but it is mainly just used by people who grew up with or prefer arcade machines, and it turn the hitbox changes a level for direction into buttons.
What else has directional buttons...a conrtoller.
And to top it off, look at the best players in street fighter, what do most of them play on...a controller.
MenaRD won last years capcom cup, on a controller.
Mouse an keyboard is for RTS, strat games and debatable but twitch aim FPS games.
they are dogshit for any sort of third person game.
>racing game with KB&M
Yeah, that's pretty dogshit >fighting game game with KB&M
That's just a poorman's hitbox. People have been playing fightan like that for years at this point. >platforming game with game with KB&M
Not ideal, but it's doable. This was the only way to okay most flash games back in the day.
2020s pc gamer: >NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHY DOES THIS GAME MAKE ME HAVE TO USE A CONTROLLER, I THOUGHT KB+M WAS THE GOD-TIER CONTROL SCHEME FOR EVERY GENRE HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
1980s pc gamer: >keyboard controls? no thanks, i'll just use my atari joystick
What games require a controller for best experience?
All I can think of are isometric action games because the arrows don't necessarily correspond to the camera angle. Arguments could be made for racing but if it's coded properly you should achieve the same level of control with tapping the keys. I can't think of a 2D platformer where analog input would matter, if anything it would be less precise.
Anything 3D with a free camera is obvious.
>What games require a controller for best experience?
Metroidvanias, platformers, soulslikes, racing, simulation games that need analog sticks (but also, keyboard for many keybinds), certain action games (mainly soulslikes)
I tried playing Signalis with MKB and realized it was truly the way it was meant to be played, the true survival horror is fighting your own controls
>Metroidvanias, platformers
They're the same fricking thing you bukkake cake. Frick I hate americans and their corporate brainwash bullshit, Jesus Christ.
>hey this game is best played with a controller >REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *violently shits himself*
Why are you like this?
Somehow, the original philosophy of >PC is the optimal gaming platform due to its open nature, giving me a variety of software and hardware options to choose from, not dependent on one corporation's walled garden
morphed into >MKB FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! REAL GAMERS HAMMER NAILS WITH WRENCHES! ANALOG CONTROLS MEANS YOU'RE A CONSOLEtroony!!!!!!!!!
I think the real problem is that PC gets very few games natively made for it today as opposed to earlier years. Everything has to adapt to a console design first which upsets some people.
Nah oblivion had nice hand-drawn menus with actual tabs that you could click through. Skyrim was where the clusterfrick really began. I’d kill for PC menus as good as oblivions nowadays.

Oblivion's UI was dogshit from a usability perspective, the same dozen dogshit tabs as Skyrim
It was jarring compared to Morrowind's clean PC UI

I won't be like typical Ganker and accuse you of not playing them, but Oblivion doesn't have a tab system like Skyrim. Oblivion uses tabs like a web browser while skyrim has everything laid out corresponding to the 4 d pad directions, there are no traditional tabs without the SkyUI mod. And please, the Runescape-esque UI of Morrowind was hardly ideal.
I think it's very useful feature. Sometimes have to google if some game is better with keyboard or controller, because I'm too lazy to try both.
Also it's also annoying to change in the middle of the game because then for example I know what each button on controller does, but I don't know what the keyboard controls are. Then have to go and check those from the options and eh I'm just lazy.
>Sometimes have to google if some game is better with keyboard or controller, because I'm too lazy to try both.
It took me several attempts to full comprehend the deeply disturbing nature of what you just wrote. Lad... you're fricked. With a capital F.
>got an xbone controller for cheap last year but it's already having drift and dead angles
any controller suggestions? >wired >xbox layout >analog triggers >the less lights the better >not 6 gorillion dollars
Gulikit are releasing a new controller later this month, so King Kong Pro 2 units have dropped in price. Can personally recommend, also: they're hall effect.
Aliexpress. Gulikit has an official store there, but currently third party store fronts are selling them cheaper because they are trying to clear their stock.
Never buy anything from Amazon. When I bought mine, they were charging just under double in my region on Amazon. Fricking DOUBLE. Like wtf.
As for 8bido, only the Bluetooth version of the Ultimate does, and its a Gulikit component. They provide the sensor. The catch with them seems to be the case. It's really common to hear complaints that it is uncomfortable, and that's something I can see just by looking at it. I do like the charger though.
I completed RE4, DMC 3 and several PS1 games on an emulator on a PC with a PC keyboard.
movement: WASD
action buttons:JKL, sometimes using space and/or shitf
R:E/3
L:Q/1
It really doesn't matter, you can play it anyway, the only thing in my personal opinion I don't like to play is FPS and strategy games with anything other than K+M.
Man, I have a set of controllers for various types of games and a good keyboard and mouse I'm happy with. The problem here isn't controllers. It's actually (You)
I use ds4windows and don't have this problem
OP can't afford a controller.
Spent all his money so he can run his game at 14 more FPS lel
steam fully supports PS4/PS5 controllers now thanks to this, even unity games
you can even customize (aka disable) the annoying blue light in the options menu
>has a favourite DRM that he passionately supports
>has the audacity to complain about anything ever
You ruined PC gaming.
it was worse before, there were some games where you had to keep the disc in while playing
>click ok
>play with kbm anyways
What's the issue, op?
Don't tell me this is a low-quality thread.
That's not Valve's UI.
That's nvidia's cloud streaming bullshit.
Would nvidia's cloud streaming bullshit include a Steam Controller? This is a recent update for Steam.
I've spent a total of 40 dollars on third party PC controllers in the past 10 years. But I play the old asscreed titles on m&kb because it's just better that eay.
you gays cry about everything
there are some scenarios where picking a controller over mouse and keyboard are more comfortable but it's ok anon you are likely way to autistic to accept that fact
Before console war mindworms tainted PC gameing. It was normal to have your mouse and keyboard, a joystick, and a controller.
This guy knows. The further back you go, the more true this was. Everyone had a joystick for their Amiga. I mean come on. We've regressed so much as a species, like holy shit.

The best input device for fighting games is a hitbox which is essentially just a fancy keyboard.

Skill issue. KBM is the best input method for every game, period. Anything else is cope.
Reddit people are annoying wish you guys never came to Ganker
Massive brain hemorrhage from shitposting. This could be you.
You just named the 3 or so genres of vidya that are better with controller.
Anything else I can think of is better with KB&M.
platforming alone is like 20 genres
No they’re all just sub-genre’s of Rhythm games. It’s not that complicated.
are you brain damaged? you listed the generes that are better with a gamepad
That’s his point
>racing game with KB&M
Yeah, that's pretty dogshit
>fighting game game with KB&M
That's just a poorman's hitbox. People have been playing fightan like that for years at this point.
>platforming game with game with KB&M
Not ideal, but it's doable. This was the only way to okay most flash games back in the day.
pirated copy works fine on my machine
Stop being a gay anon, pc gaming allows you to use whatever you want
2020s pc gamer:

1980s pc gamer:

i mean it's common knowledge for old people to have problems with change so at least the vidya boomers are consistent

False.
It is better than kb for simulators but for "best experience" you would get a real joystick.
Of course it isn't *optimal* but it's a cheap solution that works better than MKB alone
Some analog input is better than none
>Metroidvanias, platformers
They're the same fricking thing you bukkake cake. Frick I hate americans and their corporate brainwash bullshit, Jesus Christ.
>What games require a controller for best experience?
Console ports.
Most don't.
Just because consoles have to make do with limited controls doesn't mean the games won't play better with a proper control scheme.
AAAAAAAAAAAAA MY PC'S GIVING ME CHOICES, IM GOING FRICKING INSANE
>He doesn't have M&K, a controller and a flight stick.
fricking genrelets
The only controller I have is this one.
I have that also. I like it.

I think the real problem is that PC gets very few games natively made for it today as opposed to earlier years. Everything has to adapt to a console design first which upsets some people.
This has been an issue since before Skyrim, with controller optimized UIs that usually suck ass
Thankfully, they can be modded on PC
Dude, it was Oblivion that got consolitis menu first.
I never played oblivion so I wouldn't know of it, but it sounds right
Nah oblivion had nice hand-drawn menus with actual tabs that you could click through. Skyrim was where the clusterfrick really began. I’d kill for PC menus as good as oblivions nowadays.

Literally all games are made for controller, keyboard is always an afterthought

Do not use a keyboard for racing
TrackMania
Controller is superior for anything besides competitive shooters.
I'm open for arguments stating otherwise.
And strategy
Nah, strategy is better balanced and easier to pick up on controllers
Really? Is that why strategy games are ported over to consoles now? I've been seeing crusader kings on playstation.
any game that doesn't greatly benefit from de-coupled control of camera and movement is better on keyboard.
>strategy
>RPG
>anything not real time
You're wrong.
There, I win.
keyboard is so good for fighting games some people want it banned (hitbox)
>game claims to be better on controller
>game is actually much easier on KBM and some segments/minigames are almost unplayable without it
real yakuza like a challenge yes
it's opt-
>needs
what game?, htat's just lazy programming.
>-for the best experience
It’s optional moron

It really doesn't matter, you can play it anyway, the only thing in my personal opinion I don't like to play is FPS and strategy games with anything other than K+M.
but that's why pc gaming is so good. You can use any controller. Also that recommends you use a controller but you can still use m+k, see dark souls.
>You can use any controller
I have a DS4, DS5 and a Stadia controller, they all work fine.
>Buy a PC game
Who pays money for what is available for free?
Man, I have a set of controllers for various types of games and a good keyboard and mouse I'm happy with. The problem here isn't controllers. It's actually (You)
Imagine playing Dark Souls with a keyboard LMAO
i have completed ds1 and sekiro on kbm, its not that bad
Games with 3rd person 3D movement are almost always better with a stick, especially ones with a big focus on melee where aiming is rarely needed.
The PowerA Xbox controller costs 30 dollars and bootleg 360 controller from china costs even less. You have no excuse.
You only have to see that one time and you can turn it off.
stop being poor
