I want to kill each and every conartist than tricked me into investing in this obsolete shit.
>buy CRT for $300

I want to kill each and every conartist than tricked me into investing in this obsolete shit.
>buy CRT
That was your mistake, moron.
kino
Holy fricking shit how fricking moronic you have to be to spend 300 on a shitty tv you can pick up for free? Clueless morons like you deserve to be scammed by retro ecelebs
>he thinks trinitrons can still be had for free on the curb
he's not the clueless one, unless you're in some thirdie shithole where people are just now switching to flatscreen. boomers have caught on that these things are worth some money now that they've seen them listed on craigslist and facebook for upwards of $100
>t. scumbag reseller
I literally bought my 30 inch Trinitron for $10.
Yeah 5 years ago maybe. Times change old man, unless you're in some impoverished rural podunk town everyone's already tossed these things out a decade ago, people have realized the supply is drying up and are pricing accordingly. Same way cars that are priceless classics now would've been sent to the scrapyard without a second thought 50 years ago
my 11 year old gf said that she still sees them on the way to scool on the curb occassional.
Her parents are rich so she is not in a bad neighboorhood
I literally bought a trinitron for 5 bux last year on the east coast of the states. Yoy can still find this shit if you look around and most who has them just wants them out of their house.
a good 60% of that coastline is third world
You're literally fricking moronic. I got this a few months ago for free from an old lady who barely knew how to use craigslist. She said if I didn't pick it up that day she would take it to goodwill. This was right outside Fort Worth. It's in perfect condition.
>playing /vr/ in texas
>power grid fails
I also picked this up for free a few weeks later. Some guy's dad died and he was cleaning out his house. If you look 20 minutes outside most major cities you can still find decent sets for free if you have the patience, or you can sperg out and impulse buy the first overpriced thing you see because you fell for the memes.
>trinitron
Sell it "as-is, untested" and make it someone else's problem
how do you sell a TV untested? homie just plug that shit in and test it
OMG IS THAT A HECKING LIMINAL SPACE? A HECKING LSD DREAM SIMULATOR LIKE EXPERIENCE?
>moron zoomer spends $300 on technology he doesn't understand or know how to repair
lol
You can’t repair a dead flyback without cannibalizing a working unit.
There are frick ton of new old stock flybacks from various manufacturers.
Also
>Paying for consumer sets
Just have some patience you idiots and you can get one for free.
But doesn't it feel great playing on the original hardware as intended?
>$300 for a consumer television
No you didn't homosexual
https://www.reddit.com/r/crt/comments/smaarm/i_got_this_crt_recently_but_the_image_goes_like/
Still funny, though, this is the fate of every idiot who falls for the "as intended" meme.
in some decades, most retro consoles will be unusable anyway
If you buy things you can't fix you deserve to have them break
The devs didn't intend for you to play on a brand new tv that doesn't have errors, that's why they made the game suck
Unlucky. I found my Toshiba for free on the side of the road 10 years ago. $300 is looney.
>He paid $300 for a 25 year old tv and it broke in a week
Cannot stop laughing.
should have spent $50 on a line doubler and been good for the rest of your life instead.
im pointing and laughing at you for falling for this
i should be profitting off losers like you myself. just rebadging chink monitors with “CRT” and no one will bother to return it.
you are getting the genuine experience
Just recap the board, everyone knows that fixes everything and every issue.
"it is part of the charm"
CRTs "userbase" sucks most don't know or don't dare to do the absolute most barebone servicing.
Plenty of good tubes getting trashed because of some dead capacitor or IC on the chassi board.
Documentation is all over the place video showing people how things are done yet people still believe some boomer fud from the 1980s about them being some murder machines that shoot 1000gigavolts down your penis shaft.
mmm microwaved
I still have a CRT but it's only because all the analog converters are terrible or $300. I wish I could throw it away
you could always, you know, learn about how to troubleshoot and repair the control circuitry.
Check the controls on the flyback if there are any. Might be able to adjust picture that way.
Find the vertical hold on the pcb. Look for a transistor directly related to the vertical hold - likely be attached to a heat sink. It's a cheap replacement. If that doesn't fix it, start checking high power caps on the pcb and any caps near the vertical hold transistor and replace bad looking or swollen caps.
Don't buy older tech unless you can fix it or at least attempt to fix it. Other than nostalgia and higher electric bills, CRT's aren't worth bothering with anymore.
See
>Buy CRT for $50.
>It was used six hours total before I owned it.
>Works perfectly and is gorgeous.
Frick yeah, Craigslist. Suck to be you, Anon.
Nice find anon.
Thanks, it really was. I imagine some people would give me shit because it has RCA and Coax only, but it's perfect for SNES, PS1/2, N64 and Genesis.
I have a small composite/RF only set too. It has its charms but I only use it for NES and Genesis.
probably gonna cost you another $300+ to fix it, and thats if there is a place that fixes crt's near you
>buy CRT for $300
do what now?
