* Team Flare is first encountered the exact same way as Team Rocket was, right down to picking one of two fossils
* Lysandre labs is a copy of the Rocket hideout with the spin tiles and elevator key hunt
* Immigrants from or tourists to Kanto talking about how great it is

It's really just a problem of the rendering resolution more than anything. BW looks a lot better upscaled, but most people playing it upscaled also blow the image up. Gen 4 has a similar problem where it looks fine native, but like ass the second you increase the screen size beyond "postage stamp".

BW made fans mad by telling them they can't use their faves. It got more positivity in retrospect for being its own thing and BW2 giving players their oldies back alongside a lot of post-game.
XY had a ton of great system features but was absolute ass as an RPG. It also had the 3D gimmick going for it. Its various technical and design shortcomings were never rectified in a revision like Emerald or Platinum, so people are much harder on it than regions 1/2 (got updated remakes that improved the games massively) and 3-5 (upgraded third versions).
Trying to make this about age groups and generation favoritiem is just weird online drama nonsense. If we got a Z or X2Y2, people would be a lot kinder to it.
