I did appreciate how cautious Hilbert was compared to the other protags were. Dude was dressed like he actually cared about himself right down to tucking his pant cuffs into his shoes in a region full of Joltik

I'm actually excited for BW1 remakes, provided they're going the ORAS route. Personally I don't think we're going to get a Legends Unova, or at least not released alongside horrible remakes like BDSP. Especially since SV is dropping so many things about Unova specifically in the DLC and ties to the dreamworld. That seems too planned to give us shit tier remakes.
Gen 4 had more to work with in past lore than gen 5 in my opinion. The only thing gen 5 has to work with is the original dragon. Gen 5 also focuses a lot more on the future and characters changing from 1 to 2, so going backwards just to talk about a plot point that was meant for symbolism more than as an actual, physical concept seems unlikely. Plus, how are they going to make another giant super dragon that distinguishes itself from the other giant super dragon from gen 7? It's never going to live up to the hype.
I can honestly see them using S/V as basis to make a semi-open roam version of B/W both for Masuda to get closer to the visuals and vistas the DS couldn't fully handle and as a means of easily opening up dex variety along routes. It's pretty good from Pinwheel on but early could use some rejigging.

I'd like to believe that but the pessimist in me fears BDSP tier remakes, which would arguably be even worse for BW
Modern era is XY onward

just here to say I agree with you op, my favourite protag and rival designs of the series in fact
It was a simpler time. Felt clean and a bit more fashionable while not being outlandish
