By buying a Steam Deck you are indirectly betraying and sabotaging Nintendo by buying a competitors handheld gaming console. Nintendo deserves this market. They have been in the handheld market since the 90's and their games are MADE for handheld console gaming.
I don't want a Steam Deck and I own a Switch but you're moronic. Maybe Nintendo will stop making underpowered hardware. They were always behind one gen since the Wii, which was acceptable. The Wii U an Switch had about the same power though, so now they're behind two gens.
I'm tired of playing Zelda at 900p 30 FPS with frame drops.
I'll buy an AYN handheld and betray both steam and nintendo
sorry
Is this bait?
yes
It's Nintodds being uncomfortable with the fact that a portable Witcher 3 shits on their Teegra tablet from a great height.

i miss the comfy deck thread already
The deck thread was NOT comfy!!
The Steam Deck was good until it got released
what went wrong?
Nothing, its better than the Switch in every single way and the current ultimate portable experience for non-poorgays.
>better than the switch
>can't play smash online with friends
>b-but you can emulate things you can emulate way better on your PC on the deck!!!
Useless fricking trash.
>>can't play smash online with friends
LMAO THE ABSOLUTE STATE OF BING BING troony COPE
The frick are you talking about dipshit I have a pc. Believe it or not most people own more than 1 platform you fanboi c**t.
>Playing Smash online
AHAHHAHAHAHAH DUMB FRICK BING TARDIST
Cool argument, let's see how many sales it gets the steamed deck. ; ]
Your little 4xhan huhbox won't save you from the undeniable FACT that this thing is not in the public eye, will lose support in a year, and will be laughed at by zoomers making video essays about the top 5 biggest gaming hardware flops in history.
oh god yes, i hope the switch keeps doing well. more games for my deck.
lemme know when botw 2 is out, so i can "buy" it.
I'm emulating your Shitch "exclusives" for free 🙂
not very well, it seems ::::::::)
>Bore of the Ubishit
Emulates full speed with Cemu. But what kind of moron with access to the PC library would play that repulsive dog shit?
good luck with botw2 friend ::::::::::::::::::::)!
Good luck with Elden Ring bing troony 🙂
This thing is living rent free in your head, dude. You need to reexamine your life if you're getting this upset over a dumb handheld.
Oh no my SteamDeck won't sell another 5 billion so it'll suddenly stop working.
>sued by nintendo
>sued by humblebundle + wolffire
>broken apart due to anti-trust laws
>all single-player games you "own" on steam tied to DRM check-ins suddenly no longer functional
>valve stops updating proton to keep up with the games that are no longer working on deck due to minor patch changes
>no longer able to source repair parts, conveniently after the 1 year warranty has been voided and the decks life has deteriorated
>goes unsupported so long that it becomes easily compromised
>wannacry forces you to reserve the newest AYANEO Geek97 Slim on boot while farming crypto and siphoning all the funds linked to your wallet
>attempts to power down the machine result in the device aggressively winding up to 150°C and causing third degree burns on impact or sponatenous combustion
you had the power to stop this
That's a nice fanfic anon.
gaben will die in our lifetimes
i have accepted this fate
The jokes on you. I already have a Virtual Boy.
>can't play smash online with friends
it can though, with rollback lol
Link?
And if you're about to tell me "but all your friends need to be emulating it too", don't bother.
>And if you're about to tell me "but all your friends need to be emulating it too", don't bother.
ok, I won't
Start a new one then.
archive link please? I missed it and just got my deck

cheers
currently playing overload, it's so fricking good with gyro
for a certain audience who just wants to play multiplats and indies in a handheld, and they don't care that much about Nintendo's exclusives, the Deck has beat that use for the platform to them, the Switch has done that thing the Vita wanted to do but failed that was to allow people to play console type games on the go, however people had to constantly ask for ports of games and hope publishers/devs did it, now with a more affordable handheld PC, they can just play that on the Deck instead
Nier Automata is coming to the Switch "later this year" according to Squeenix, but you could already play that on the Deck rather well, so if you don't care bing bing wahoo too badly, the Deck just allows people to play more of the multiplats on the go without having to wait for ports
I used the switch for probably 6 months, I found it to be dull after that point and then every game for it that wasn't some indie game was wildly expensive. I had a fun time with BoTW it was the major draw for me initially picking it up, mario odyssey was underwhelming and I expected it to be better. Dropped using it for ages then animal crossing was released and it was good but grindy at the start and put me off a while after that, I tried out my first JRPG with xenoblade 2 and immediately disliked it, partly the accents in the English VAs it but I won't blame the switch more my taste in JRPGs for that.
But after that everything was a remake or a port of something I already had or indies for twice the price of what I could get on steam. Each 1st party game was like $70 too with few ever going on sale. I bet BoTW is still that price today on their store despite it being years old now.
Probably just gonna get BoTW and animal crossing on Yuzu when I get a hold of my steam deck.
botw runs better on cemu btw
Change the Voice Acting from ENG to JP for XC2 then, jebus
Why are you playing a JRPG in eng dub in the first place when the VA works were done jankily under covid times.
Yeah I wouldn't give Nintendo any points on their evergreen expensive games but you usually buy them once per console gen anyway.
Anon XC2 is from 2017, its VA may be pretty terrible jank but it's not due to corona.
>you usually buy them once per console gen anyway
As opposed to buying the same game on the same console multiple times?
japanese dubs are just as shit as english dubs but since you don't speak japanese you can ignore it and pretend that people actually talk like that in nippon
At least the JP voice matches what the characters do on the screen.
A huge portion of Switch players are/were like that writer, the appeal is portability. But that article basically hits the nail on the head of why the Deck and similar competitors are an issue.
I just don't understand the moronic desire to say
>wow what a cool game, I would like to play it on the go at like a third of the frame rate and half the resolution.
Not to mention, the idea of playing a long form "sit down" game in like 15 minute bursts on the train just sounds like torture.
I agree, but it's a huge audience. An absolutely massive one that basically made third parties relevant on Nintendo for the first time since the Wii. It's impressive how much people desire an inferior experience.
Yeah, no point in ignoring reality. people DO want that experience. I want a deck for playing AA games and emulation. I don't have a desire to play AAA at such a gimped performance, but the option of streaming from my home machine onto a good form factor can be extremely appealing, depending on the game.
this is exactly what I'll be using mine for. emulation and light games and I already game everywhere in my apartment almost daily with a steam link, so I can just remote to my desktop through the deck now instead of the link. i have a good LAN so there's no latency issues at all and i can't even tell that i'm playing remotely most of the time
>at like a third of the frame rate and half the resolution
There are lot of games where 720p is acceptable and a third of the frame rate is still 60 fps.
>get Steam Deck-uu
>Downroad gorillian game-uu's
>save money-a-roo
>NOOO U CAN'T-UU HECKIN DO THAT-A-RUU!!!!!!!
Is part of the reason why nintendies are so mad is because pc chads got an actually powerful handheld with custom amd hardware when the switch uses 5 year old phone hardware that was already outdated?
Valve isn't the only game in town
HAHAHA looks like crap
shame the chink midget laptop tax places its price above RTX 3070 laptops
>512GB SSD
what?
2TB SSD are cheap now.
you could buy a 1TB SSD for less than the price difference of the devices, put it in the second m.2 slot, and still have more storage for less of the price of the greedy chinkshit device
>GPD
>sold by onexplayer
anon, did you make this to deliberately mislead people?
Black person go to newegg and search for gpd it's literally there
Not my fault the chinks steal even each others names
chang chang chang
theyre the same company
Go away chink
I can't tell if they're severely autistic or trolling. I don't know who in their right mind would want something in that form factor. The fact that they're shilling it to people who are considering the Deck shows how out of touch that chink is.
The chinks are downright furious that Gaben took a royal dump on their niche.
but they managed to create devices that are 2x more powerful than the steamy shitdeck within only months??
like actually fricking hilarious how quickly the deck got outpaced. maybe if they hadn't had to delay the deck last year it might have been relevant longer for more than a week
See
OH NO NO NO NO HAHAHAHA
you realize these devices can go to 28w unlike the steaming shit pile right?
*when plugged in
**may cause second degree hand burns and melted handheld
moron
>28w
so, 40 minute battery life?
you dumb mother fricker don't even start to talk batteries to me holy shit
What's the battery in that thing? 48w/h? You're going to get less than an hour and a half running at 28w.
>running a laptop APU in a handheld at laptop TDP and suddenly it has shitty battery life
Wow, I am shocked. Who could have foreseen this??
What? are you afraid someones going to start doing math again to show that the expensive chink UMPC's have worse or same battery life as the deck with no real benefit?
oh it's shit. I get 2 hours in games like Batman arkham knight, but older AAA games I can drop the TDP down to 10 Watts and the battery goes up to 5. But what disappoints me in the deck is the hardware other than the display and cpu/gpu. Why in 2022 sell a device with 64GB of space? Why not throw in a 1TB sd card? Why gate 512GB behind a $649 price-point? And why the frick is there no thunderbolt 4? and WHY THE FRICK is the only usb port on this thing, at the top?
surprised you didnt say doom eternal only gets 30 fps to put the icing on the 2021 fud
I'm referring to the win 3. I can confirm with you battery average is 1:45 per game on 25 watts with most games running at high or medium. Some run with 40 minutes (cyber punk, elden ring, guardians of the galaxy). emulators like gamecube can run at 10 watts, but anything higher needs it to be 15W or higher. Usually 18W is the sweetspot. Browsing on low power and low wattage is 6-10 hours if TDP set between 5-7 watts.
They wanted a loss leader. The 64GB eMMC is shit but I can only assume that trying to source a 128GB NVMe SSD was too costly for the price. They likely skipped over a 128GB eMMC for longevity reasons. They already have pretty poor life compared to regular SSD's but by putting in a small one it encourages user to put things on an SD card instead giving it the brunt of the read/writes. It also cheaper to switch the drive out if you can find one on ebay. Maybe valve is trying to convince manufactures to make more and sell the form factor on the consumer market to drive prices down for all parties. They were already having a hard enough time sourcing their original NVMe SSDs that by downgrading the lanes they were about to ramp up production. Thunderbolt is made by Intel and Apple and I think both of them would have an issue with an AMD device thats a mobile powerhouse. Needs more USB ports though the battery handler gets fricking hot at full load while charging so it might have something to do with that.
tl;dr: israelites
>Thunderbolt is made by Intel and Apple
God dammit that's right I forgot about that.
>chink trash sold for $1300 that may not even release this year
lmao
>but they managed to create devices that are 2x more powerful than the steamy shitdeck within only months??
nice advert, still not buying it. thread theme:
its irrelevant to valve. look at the first icon on that handhelds screen.
yep. steam. valve could give less fricks if the Steam Deck flopped TOMMOROW, the ball is rolling. other companies are pumping millions into r@d, making better, faster, lighter handhelds to compete with the deck, and likely will stomp the deck sooner or later.
and every single one of them advertise, first and center...steam. now all valves gotta do is fricking sit back, relax, watch everyone else compete in the handheld market and count those dollas comin in from steam store transactions. its fricking genius. they broke into the handheld market by just pumping out one (1) device, and from the very second it came out, now anyone buying a handheld will be considering "but does it have steam".
valve could brick every deck, tonight, and flip everyone the bird and it wouldnt matter. some chinks are doing all the work for them.
Its a Switch owner trying to troll in Steam Deck threads because Switchlets are insecure as frick.
Insane to me that they absolutely refuse to change their file name to avoid this shit.
>Thinking a company is your friend and deserves your support
moron
>buaa buaa this market belongs to nintendo buaa!
wtf kinda of take is this? are you 12 or what?
fricking kys you absolute corporate drone, trash npc
Deckchads it just feels so good to game on it. it works great in dektop mode for desktop games, i never had such high graphics at high and stable fps
am i a real pc gaymer now?
what you mean are you a linux user or something
Deck runs GNU/Linux. Really the only thing you'd want to run on it too, AMD never has delivered functional Windows drivers for their hardware.
>Nintendo deserves this market. They have been in the handheld market since the 90's
they were already outperformed by the sega gamegear during that time, psp in the 2000s, mobile in 2010s, and now the steam deck
True, but the gameboy could run a long as time on a set of 4 AAs where the gamegear would use them up in an hour or so on 6 AAs. Its meaningless to have a portable console if you can't actually run it, the game's aren't great, and you need to be tethered to the wall with a power pack.
Frick nintendo. Frick coomers.
Sony all the way, baby! Trump 2024!
I was a huge nintendo gay up until they tried to screw me over multiple times with the garbage joycons. Frick em.
>By buying a steam deck you are indirectly betraying and sabotaging Nintendo by buying a competitors handheld gaming console.
In nearly 35 years I never once trusted Nintendo on anything so I'm not betraying anyone
Very impressive Deck performance. 60 fps on a game that's sub 30 fps on PS4 is good.
don't forget that this is only 800p, not 1080p which drastically alters performance
also this is not 60fps, it dips very frequently down to 54fps with NOTHING going on
I'd go with 40Hz and hope that it's not dipping during performance heavy sections
the constant 30fps on the switch are really impressive
don't forget kids - a stable framerate is better than a shitty jittery mess between 30-50
>buying a steam deck
99% of my PC games are mouse and kb games, so no.
>"Linux is free, if your time is worthless."
>I don't care about security because MS told me not to!
Linux isn't secure.
It doesn't even have a firewall or antivirus preinstalled.
Linux Mint comes with a firewall, so you're stupid.
>Windows needs no time investment, if your privacy is worthless.
just completed my purchase for the 512gb chad-deck today Ganker, what am I in for? what game should i play first?
Hades
join me as a kingdeck come deliverance chad
Some of the first games I played on mine were Ion Fury and both Legend of Grimrock games.
I seriously hope you don't actually believe this.
Also, I own both, maybe start making actual fire emblem games and another metroid and I'll have something nintendo to buy.
Shit, maybe even botw 2.
Until then I'll be spending money in steam sales for deck games.
Nintendo deserves any and all fallout from the consequences of the steamdeck. They copyright their own music because they fear other people enjoying something they can't directly benefit or have complete control of. At the same time I'm going to be emulating a slew of Nintendo titles
i don't get it
Is it native or being streamed?
Native. It runs at 30fps on low settings or some shit
just had a dream that the box that arrived on my doorstep was empty
why does this have to be so stressful bros ;-;
I ordered an expensive office chair and Fedex is playing grabass with my package, b***hing about me not being there to pick it up even though it doesn't need to be signed for and they still haven't given me a window of when it might show up. I seriously hope they aren't doing my deck if I can ever by the fricking thing
Stop using Fedex, you fricking moron. They steal firearms and ammunition all the time.
Nintendo hurt me by forcing game devs to butcher their games, so it looks like shit and plays like shit on PC.
>less competition is good!
said no one ever with a brainn8DWY
Valve lacks the capacity manufacture the Steam Deck in quantities sufficient to pose any challenge to the Switch. You're delusional if you think all the journalists/influencers hyping the deck now are not going to drop it the moment the Switch 2 comes out.
>the Switch 2 comes out.
it still won't be able to play steam games. dropped.
Deck isn't meant to challenge the Switch, in the short term its meant to put GNU/Linux use on Steam ahead of MacOS.
Or going from the current 1.6 million users running Steam on GNU/Linux up to around 3 million users.
That should happen some time next year.
The Deck would be an absolutely massive success for Valve if it hit 10-15 million units over its lifetime. Numbers like that are unheard of for an open platform device in the modern era.
Just came in the mail!
I hope you enjoy it.
What games do you wanna play on it?
Oblivion, Dawn of War, Titanfall 2, Halo 1-3, and a bunch of Dreamcast and PS2 games. Those are the main ones but I'm going to work through my whole Steam library.
Until Microsoft enables EAC for Linux you won't be able to play Halo multiplayer with randos. Single player and with friends will work fine, but you also won't be able to get achievements.
Yeah I was just interested in the campaigns for now.
noice dood
That's what the packages that I send to the government agents watching me look like.
cool
When did you order yours? I got my email today and I wanna know how long it would take to get
My email came June 23rd, on a Thursday. I likely would have had it last Friday if not for Canada Day closing down postal services here.
I've heard some people who get Monday emails getting theirs as soon as Friday that same week.
>I've heard some people who get Monday emails getting theirs as soon as Friday that same week.
Should be here by Monday at least, thanks anon
Not the same guy. Depends on where you live. Burger from Ohio here.
Monday 6/27 - email
Tuesday 6/28 - status changed to shipping soon
Wednesday 6/29 @ ~ 1:15 pm - Tracking info generated
Thursday 6/30 @ midnight - FedEx marks package as picked up
Friday 7/1 - Deck received
I would expect 6 days or so just to be safe.
Make sure you didn't get screwed over, Valve secretly lowered specs on the 256-512 decks and it's a coinflip if you get a good one.

It's understandable that such a thing would happen since Valve also screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
why don't you ever talk about the wolfire games anti-trust suit if you care so much
>pcie x4 has nearly 4gbps theoretical throughtput
>pcie x2 has half of it
>sata 3 standard that many people still use for well-performing ssds is capped at 600mbps
i don't think i would care, certainly not enough to put effort into looking for a certain unit. they're right that it most likely won't change anything
>It doesn't need a 4 lane SSD PCIE
No, it doesn't. Posting your garbage doesn't change reality.
If it was fast enough to even take advantage of 4x lanes it would, but it isn't so there is no performance difference. Not that I give a frick. I've already got one with the good fan and a 4 lane SSD.
>it's the artifactgay again
I was gonna swap in a 1tb anyway so it doesn't matter to me
>Ctrl+F Artifact
>find this post
>lmao
I do kinda wish the deck had a tie-in game like the Index has Alyx. some dumb portable game. Not artifact though, frick that game
It literally does? Aperture Desk job you gigatard.
How does internet on the go work? Does it have a spot for a Sim card? Do I have to Hotspot that shit? I'd like to play some games on it but internet is kind of a requirement for me.
FINALLY got my email. Steam Deck chads, we won
'we' sure did.... heh
>linux in servers
>linux in smartphones
>linux in PCs
Proprietarysisters, it's over...
That was truly a great moment
>Car had to get repairs
>Feel less excited to drop about $700 now
Shit like gas expenses and inflation aren't helping, but I'm not at a point where it's going to make or break my financing or anything. I guess I should be happy I don't have to make sacrifices.
if it makes you feel any better it will become your dedicated gaming device for the next 7 years
It's definitely going to be what I use to play PC games on my TV.
7 years is a long time anon. Right now one of the showcases for Deck's performance is Horizon, a 5 year old ps4 game which it can just about keep its head above water at 30fps if you lower settings. Sure people will burn through as much of their backlog as they really care to, fiddle around with emulators, but for 7 years?
i used my vita for about that long so seems apt :v)
I spent $500 on a deck and exclusively play Downwell and vampire Survivors
>By buying a steam deck you are indirectly betraying and sabotaging Nintendo
Good. Frick nintendo!
any deckbros know if this runs on deck?
Is it on steam? Link and I'll try.
no, and 'windows'
https://kay-yu.itch.io/holocure
I don't know how to play itch games on this yet
https://itch.io/blog/393053/how-to-play-itchio-games-on-the-steam-deck
It's fine, just run it through steam.
Yes, it runs fine. Saves can't be transferred to another device though just fyi
nice, thanks
Works fine, but the game itself doesn't seem to support controller input at all so you'll need to use a community control binding (multiple seem to be available) or make your own.
This is on my backlog, I've been meaning to play it on my desktop even before getting a Deck, now I'm not sure where I should set it up.
awesome, can't wait
Is this actually a decent alternative to VS? I heard it praised before but not really into the vtuber trend shit
to VS? yeah its surprisingly well done even if you cant into vtuber shit
i prefer 20 minutes till dawn but i ran out of content for that
Has anyone tried the Deck with a dock?
What did you think?
How does resonance of fate run on deck?
i want the game to go on sale first, but it was verified some months ago
you may even be able to emulate the ps3 version
I see. Though its on sale now, seems like they forgot to add it lol
I would like to say don't bother with the 4k textures, that shit was so fricking lazy. Most of it is just poorly upscaled shit with some noise sprinkled on it.
Interesting.
is it? though?
yes? it is?
I hate tech Youtubers and their wacky projects
If you were someone that liked to play around with technology yourself you might like it.
>Nintendo deserves this market.
No they don't. They are Japanese EA. Literally the worst business practices in the industry right now. Expect a price hike with NSO next console so it's also $60.
>their games are MADE for handheld console gaming.
Then how come most of them run so poorly? 30fps Animal Crossing, 20fps Zelda, stuttering Link's Awakening, 30fps Kirby, and that's not to mention how terrible their third party exclusives and "tailor-optimized" ports run on the Switch.
I like these shitpost threads but I bought the PSP and Vita and they were my favorite handhelds. My entire gaming upbringing has been betting on the wrong pony like the Dreamcast.
Only kino choices though anon
The PSP was the best thing I ever had. I played all kinds of Capcom games and when I discovered how to pirate that was like a whole new world for me. Also porn, lots of porn.
Based. I never owned a PSP but always thought they were really cool. Do own a Vita and that shit is cash.
The vita was wasted potential due to Sony being fricking moronic. But it still isn't something I regret having, playing UMvC3 on the go was worth it.
>playing Dragon's Crown every day in college
those were the good ol days, frick college
Why in gods name is it not on PC? Why is Muramasa and it's DLC not on PC?
atlus is a shit company that gets a pass cus my heckin wholesome japanerino company
I don't understand the idea that a Japanese company is wholesome. It may be more ideal looking at western publishers, but Japanese publishers are their own breed of shitty corporate.
Because for some reason even though FROMsoft is about the size of bethesda, people still talk about them like that scrappy AA company who made Demon's Souls. Just like Bethesda, their games are bugged to shit, written like ass, have asinine repetitive gameplay but people excuse it for FROM because I dunno, you see this attitude of like "they're trying their best!". Like how gives a shit, they make millions of dollars, they SHOULD be able to do a lot better.
It's Japan's openness and humble nature that causes people to give them more sympathy. Seriously, if Bethesda was more open and apologized for their shit people would be more lenient.
There was some webcomic strip where people were reacting to the same picture but one had a more deprecating name and the other was boisterous and people shit talked the latter.
Okay fair enough. But still, its not warranted a lot of the time. Its not a good enough reason to accept shitty games and business practices.
People are surprisingly easy to please.
the PSP would have been a 10/10 machine if the build quality wasn't actual trash
so glad the Vita exists, even if I only use mine as a more solid PSP with a better screen
and seriously, until I got my Vita, I went through four fricking PSPs, three with screen problems, all of them developed dead joysticks and replacements didn't do shit, one of them just didn't turn on anymore for one reason or another, it was a fricking shitshow
I've never needed to buy a second of ANY handheld anything in my life other than the fricking PSP, shit was stupid
is this the deck thread? deck made me buy 3080 pc
why?
too weak for some games
4k 60-144
What fps/resolutions do you get in most games?
I just got my order in bros... it's habbening.
Nintendo deserves to be betrayed after their abandonment of Pikmin.
any primehack chads
>locked 60 @ 11W
nice
How is this on the Deck anyways?
should be fine, dolphin is extremely optimized nowadays
I meant control wise, no doubt it runs well. Can you use dual stick controls? The pads for mouse input? Traditional?
I played Prime Hack last year with M+KB but didn’t check the other options
I think Dolphin can recognize gyro controls to use them for aiming
Gyro is gay
>indirectly betraying and sabotaging Nintendo
Good
>Nintendo deserves this market.
Definitely not
what if i got a switch year one and a steam deck in q2?
just... one more sleep
Chicago? That shit getting stolen asap.
pls no ;_;
I would take my chances at one of those fricking gas station amazon boxes before I got this thing delivered to my place if I still lived in that shithole. Godspeed
You watch that mailbox ALL DAY, you have work, call out.
time for that last sleep before the deckening
going to sit on my porch like a monkey all day
>this is what Wang Li claimed would kill Deck
OH NOOOOOOOO
I don't care about the chinese shitshows but that Ryzen Rembrandt should outperform the deck easily, it has 4 more compute units in the GPU than the deck's iGPU, not twice as good but better
Valve will probably release an updated Deck within 2 years or so given how AMD's next gen low power mobile CPUs are supposed to be crazy good with RDNA3 iGPU
More GPU but at 15W the extra hardware doesn't really have room to stretch its legs, especially with 8 CPU cores crowding it as well. Then there's also the memory system on that thing, which I am unfamiliar with but the deck as quad-channel LPDDR5 in order to provide decent bandwidth to the iGPU, which is absolutely critical in these systems. If the memory bandwidth is sub-par it will definitely harm GPU performance and won't allow it to scale.
This is bullshit, the 4 lane SSD the Deck comes with barely benefits from the bandwidth beyond what 2 lanes provide, so the impact of the change to game performance and load time will be exactly 0. Games hardly benefit from SSD speeds beyond SATA anyway, switching from one NVMe drive to a slightly slower NVMe drive is completely irrelevant.
Rembrandt has a more efficient process than the Deck's, there's a video of a guy testing the iGPU clock of a 6800U laptop and it is around 2,000MHz at around 15-20W, higher than the Deck's that gets maxed at 1500Mhz~, it's designed to be a ultra low power ultrabook chip
Many of those chinese companies that are going to put those CPus in their handhelds are also putting higher than 720p/800p resolution screens claiming that the hardware allows it, saying between the lines they're not drawing that much power so let's just pump the resolution up, which I think is stupid since they could stick with 720p/800p and enjoy much better battery life
Slightly better process (6nm vs. 7nm) but with 4 extra CPU cores on board, which are mostly going to be dead weight for games.
acshually it's a refined version of 6nm and it has better binning, being more expensive than what the Deck has, in the leaks about AMD's next gen Phoenix lineup, they disclosed "it's going to be even more premium than Rembrandt" so those 6000 parts aren't exactly cheap
Phoenix is supposed to be Zen 4 and RDNA3, no? Yeah I'd expect some good shit.
Problem is TDP. Those extra compute units aren't free. They may have to downclock them lower than Deck to get reasonable wattage.
No Chinese handheld released this year will be a true generation beyond the Deck. It's not worth a notional 25% more grunt to buy Chinese vs the Deck. Also, Deck had the touchpads and a gyro which just works.
I've had a faulty GPD in the past and dealing with the returns process to Hong Kong with someone who writes broken English + the delays + incurring more customs duty, it's not worth it.
>not worth 25%
That's the difference between 45fps and 60fps. You're moronic.
>I've had a faulty GPD in the past and dealing with the returns process to Hong Kong with someone who writes broken English + the delays + incurring more customs duty, it's not worth it.
pics to prove it?
Steam Deck already has selectable refresh rate plus hundreds of thousands of autists trying to squeeze every drop of power. I stand by my comment, no Chinese handheld which is in theory 25% more powerful than the Deck, is worth it.
re; faulty GPD, I returned my P2 Max in February 2020, repair took 6 months and I had to pay duty on the return unit.
Is the stuff on the left comparable cost wise to the deck or costs higher?
>guys I called the thing a funny name, thats all the argument I need!
>brain turns off at the slightest provocation
the absolute state of steamies
shitch morons like you need to be executed
I have both a Deck and a Switch. Haven't used my Switch since the Deck arrived though.
honeymoon period for most decklets is 1-2 weeks tops
they spend the entire time playing games for 3 minutes and troubleshooting errors and configurations and setting up emulation profiles for games and taking epic selfies with them and a hilarious epic meme game they never play and then frick off back to shitting on twitter and Gankereddit
>honeymoon period is what i set it as
You are a joke, chud, It';s ok to be a moronic poorgay like yourself, but dont speak on something you will never own or know how to use or afford.
That's a weird response to his comment. Because the Steam Deck is touted as being a powerful handheld computer, that's is also affordable. It also has nothing to do with his comment.
>his comment
Why do you type as two separate people, you fricking schizo?
Because I'm not that anon. There are .ore than you and one other person in this thread. Also, not a valid response to either his, or my, comment.
>steamies so insecure and unhinged they start jumping at shadows
hate to see it happen
>jump at shadows
You literally stalk steam deck threads posting the same shit, you fricking moron.
Hows the Shitch doing for you, c**t?
Though shit fricko, I got mine in late April and I'm still using it for 1-2 hours each day.
>By buying a Steam Deck
No one is buying them. So, this is a dead issue.

I'LL BUY 10 STEAMDECKS
Putting together some games for when I get my Deck, any recommendations fellow Deckchads?

what is a Adult's final emulation?
Emulating android to play phone ports of sega genesis games
I think the farthest I went was running a VM of windows on linux and opening an android emulator to play the phone port of some Xbox Live Arcade game which was a soft sequel to a GBA game
Harmony of Despair?
nah it was some Final Fantasy Tactics Advance spinoff
when the estradiol runs out
No one "deserves" a market. It either sells or it doesn't. More competition is a good thing.
After switch 2, Nintendo will just pivot to another gimmick and will still continue to sell 10s of millions as usual.
Steam deck is hardly a competitor for switch. But that’s not to say it’s worse than switch, they just exist in two different worlds.
i want to live in the world where nintendo isn't shit
>we live in a consumer culture where soulless millenials doctrinate their kids into worshipping nintendo the same way they did as kids
>nintendo could sell literal feces and people would buy it
>zero accountability for hardware or business practices
>Somehow Nintendo keeps fricking up and making dozens of mistakes a year that would spell PR disaster for anyone else
>The acting CEO and Miyamoto are eternally above reproach for some fricking reason despite being the literal heads in charge
Just sell software Nintendo, like jesus christ, there's no way the plastic garbage a Switch is made out of is actually contributing a large amount to their sales.
Why would they switch to software when they make a 30% margin on hardware sales, keep all of their money from 1st party sales, and keep 30% of every 3rd party game sold on the eshop?
I’m not even saying Nintendo does everything right all the time but genuinely why would they just quit a massively successful business? Sony needs to do PC because they don’t make money on hardware upfront and their games have insane budgets. Nintendo doesn’t have that problem because their games cost nothing to make and their hardware makes money.
You're probably right, I just wish they stopped making garbage hardware with garbage games.
That's nice. Still not buying the steamed dick.
wh-why isn't she dancing?
only has a reservation
not_sure_if_dance.gif
She got screwed over by a Steam Deck with lower performance than expected.
Since the dock isn't coming out anytime soon, what's a good alternative?
I bought one because I'm too moronic for regular PC gaming.
The only complaint I have with my deck is that sometimes it goes totally unresponsive when I open the (...) button settings menu. The game doesn't freeze but the menu either doesn't open or freezes, everything stops responding to all inputs and the only thing to do is hold the power button to snuff the power and lose all game progress. Happened like 10+ times so far. Other than that it's awesome
Happened to me too, it seems to be triggered if you press something when the game is unresponsive so avoid doing shit during loading screens and such.
never make another steam deck thread again
yeah, thanks to those chink shills and anti-steamdeck homosexuals (false-flagging snoyggers). When these buttholes give up, we will see more deck threads in the future.
ANYBODY BUT NINTENDO FANS ITS ANYONE BUT THEM, PLEASE FALL FOR THE PSYOP PLEASE
cope harder snoygger
The Steam Deck is the biggest shill operation on Ganker
its far from the biggest
You want to know more about these shills
These shills posts are made majorly by paid valve steam moderators with auto bump and botted responses after the old one dies
Its part of the guerilla marketing the same thing happened on old Ganker with steam store(I doubt anyone here even remembers fricking zoomers and normie gays) but now with modern bots, auto bumps etc
Check the dead steam deck threads <15-20 posters around the same size of steam moderators and check the frequency timing of these threads which matches up exactly to the down turn of steam support chart
You're welcome
thanks dude, we almost had video game threads. Thank god there'll be more room for /misc/ threads, coomer threads, e-celeb threads, yet another fricking nintendo thread, v-tuber tthreads, and BLACKED threads. Thank you Jannie Jr.
>he doesn't know about the flood of Gankeredditors who are getting a deck this month
bruh gabe just pushed the US 512 queue by almost an hour today 0_0
The fuk dat mean?
not spoonfeeding super secret discord data sry bruh...
I was very excited for the deck. Preordered within the first few minutes and was Q2. I got it in June and it worked for a few weeks. Then the display crapped out entirely. I took great care of it. Always kept it in the carrying case, never dropped it or anything like that. I was just unlucky enough to get a faulty deck I guess. Emailed steam support and they told me to RMA it. Only problem was I already put on a screen protector and skin, so I'm losing out on about $75 worth of equipment as a result of them sending me a faulty unit. Between the hassle of RMA'ing it, the money I was losing (who knows if it will happen again?), and the amount of hours I've actually used it (about 25 or so)...I've decided to return it. Anybody else have a similar experience?
TL;DR Display stopped working entirely after about 25 hours of use. Decided to return it. Overall, my experience has been a disappointing one.
let me guess, nintendo just does it better?
>screen protector
$2?
>skin
get fricked d-troony lmaooo
Nah, my hours are probably in the 100s at this point, I've used it a fair bit and other than the occasional software bug I haven't had any issues, it has been excellent.
Should have thought twice before buying a second PC that does literally nothing
I wish it did nothing, my steam deck deleted all my games of my desktop
>delayed to saturday
Just wait
>you are indirectly betraying and sabotaging Nintendo
They deserve for the overpriced ports and charging for shitty online and renting roms. Also joy-con drift which they swear isn't a problem
The buyer who'd get a steam deck is not the same one as the one who'd buy a switch. One is marketed more as a portable gaming "PC", while the other one is a gaming console through and through. Not saying either one is necessarily better, they just have a different focus.
I want to buy a steam deck but Valve won't let me
rekt
When you get the deck you will lose all desire to play switch again. Nintendo needs new hardware
True
False, it's shit.
Why do you think so? Too heavy for you?
Yup, I really haven't touched my Switch in months. I should play 13 Sentinels before Xenoblade and GrimGrimoire come out later this month but I kind of doubt I actually will.
I agree. Its better to just buy a hacked switch.
I got my email today bros, it's finally fricking happening
They still sent them out on the holiday?
yes
A lot more people did because they downgraded the hardware lmao
don't care, waiting for my analogue pocket
Bros, what's a cheap game that runs well on steam deck? Currently playing Dragon's Dogma and it runs well but want to grab some more cheap stuff during the sale.
steel assault
first, don't buy games from steam directly
https://gg.deals/
second, what is 'cheap'
cheap is like $10 or less. I spent the last 20+ years pirating. It still feels stupid to buy games but so far I've spent like $30 on a butt load of classics so whatever.
DMC5 with vergil is <$10 right now
Oblivion is $5

anyone had any luck with windows? installed 11 but it kept breaking when trying to install apu drivers, trying windows 10 to see if that works better
Anyone know any good traditional roguelikes that work well on the deck? Qud is confusing to use on this.
rev up you are controller scheme autism
thanks for the recs, boys
Not my problem.
>tfw after Q3 because I was camping in the mountains for three weeks when the pre-orders went live
it's not for normie fricks like you
eat shit basically
>a competitors
Valve isn't a competitor for Nintendo, no one is, Nintendo is it's own cult separated from the industry and no cultist who buys their shit will ever buy anything else to the detriment of Nintendo
Bros, I got my Steam Deck popup to confirm my order. Problem is... I kinda don't want it anymore. I really wanted a Steam Deck when I ordered it a year ago but now I'd rather just build a new PC this fall. What do? Should I get it and just sell it at Christmas time? I can probably make 4-500 profit since it's the premium 512gb version.
Or you can not be a scalping c**t and give it to an anon who wants one
por que no las dos?
keep one at home and the other when traveling, etc
simple as that
>I can probably make 4-500 profit since it's the premium 512gb version.
I doubt that. Decks are becoming common.
Come Christmas time I do believe it will still be a hot item. They haven't even shipped 1 mil units yet
Mine arrives day after tomorrow
Am I getting mine before October
What does the fine print say?
NO
deck threads going to be so lit this month deckfams!! X^^D!!! it's --happening--!! ;p
Finally got my 512GB order availability today. Looking back I wish I had just saved $250 and got the cheapest model, but at this point I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Anybody have any experience getting Windows games that are outside of Steam, like GOG or pirated titles, working on the Deck? Clearly you can't get Microsoft Store or Game Pass games working, but I'd be disappointed if I can't get older titles sitting on my PC's drive like HoMM3 or the Sourcenext Resident Evil ports working on the deck. I'm very familiar with Linux for scientific computing but have almost zero experience with desktop environments or Proton.
i really doubt you'd end up saving $250 nowadays, 2230 ssds are like double the price they were last year now because of the deck. i'd rather have had the 64's screen now the more i've seen of both models however.
>2230 ssds are like double the price they were last year now because of the deck
I sprung for the 512GB model last year because I thought I could dual-boot with Windows 10, but now seeing all the driver and battery issues people are having trying to get Windows working on Deck. Without dual booting the larger 2230 means less to me; working off a slower SD card would be fine since I see the Deck more as a device for emulation or older titles, and I'd be using In-Home Streaming or Moonlight from my desktop PC for anything more intensive.
>i'd rather have had the 64's screen now the more i've seen of both models however.
This I agree with. In videos I've seen the anti-glare coated screens are much less vibrant.
>working off a slower SD card would be fine since I see the Deck more as a device for emulation or older titles
i mean if you're using it as just a dedicated retro gaming handheld then sure.
the creeping blight on the steamdeck are shader caches for pc games that basically eat up the entire SSD on the entry point model. and valve doesn't let you store shaders anywhere else but the SSD for now. (there is a way to point the shaders at a sd card but the read speeds aren't great and can cause jitters in games like god of war etc.)
>Anybody have any experience getting Windows games that are outside of Steam, like GOG or pirated titles, working on the Deck?
Yep, you basically just need to run them through Proton. Just add them as non-Steam games and set the compatibility mode to use Proton and they will work. I've tried GOG games and I also started playing D2R which is on Bnet.
you don't recommend Lutris?
I've never used Lutris, haven't really looked into it since I didn't play games on Linux before getting a Deck. I just used this method because I figured that being already integrated with Steam it would work properly in Game mode which also uses the built-in Proton compatibility modes that Steam has. Lutris is entirely independent from Steam, isn't it? I just thought it would be more of a pain in the ass to ensure game mode launches the correct Wine environment via Lutris or whatever the frick. Again I haven't really looked into it, I may be entirely wrong.
No you have the right approach. Generally Lutris allows you to have a custom wine/proton install with custom setups, custom this that and the other thing. The method you described just werks but Lutris is nice for if/when you need a more detailed solution.
Anybody have recommendations for screen protectors that aren't complete chinkshit?
Nice, thanks for the info. Can't wait until the end of the week to start fricking around with this thing.
>Anybody have recommendations for screen protectors that aren't complete chinkshit?
I bought some cheap Brotect screen protectors. They're the perfect size for the screen and look nice/don't interfere, though for some reason the thing is an absolute dust magnet. It's like the dust fricking sticks to the thing, I've never seen a screen basically "retain" dust like this.
Yeah I figured. This method is kind of a pain since you need to (manually) figure out where Steam creates the Proton environment for each non-Steam game, but I guess it's a minor inconvenience in the end.
Wait does this really work? Amazing
Yeah D2R works fine. You have to close the Bnet window after starting the game though, for some reason the game stutters badly on Deck if Bnet is running in the background.
I know this is bait, but the Switch isn't even remotely comparable to the Nintendo handhelds I had growing up. The GB/GBC, GBA, and DS were true handhelds; games you could only get on those systems.
The Switch is a portable home console. It has games you can easily get on other platforms.
Fuuuuck, do i get the deck or not? Wife's been on my ass about saving money.
let it go to someone who will actually use it (for scalping)
Get the deck, ditch the wife.
if you have to ask then the answer is no. you either want one or you don’t, homosexual
I am entirely okay with that. In capitalism, no one deserves a market, you have to fricking fight for it, lol.
but also like, I haven't really given a shit about nintendo games in like 10 years and have seen little reason to change
I just wish the Deck had an OLED screen and smaller bezels.
That's a damn good pitch, OP. I'm a little more interested in buying a steam deck after reading it.
average steamie
Yes yes, we know tendies like yourself are closet trannies and like projecting your gay shit onto others. Maybe get a job or something instead of being so gay.
>was attempting to put XIV on my deck via xivlauncher
>couldn't fricking install it to the sd card and scratching my head why as I followed everything perfectly
>oops guess linux is case sensitive to folder names
>server maintenance anyway even though I fixed my issue
I feel dumb now. I am a total tard with linux
one of the reasons I hate Windows is that it teaches people bad habits like that shit intentionally so other systems feel "clunky"
Don’t worry bro. You’ll get the hang of it.
Years of a shitty OS giving you bad habits you have to correct
Not only that but I gave my switch to someone else for free effectively preventing a sale. 😉
Buying a Deck is like buying a shitty gaming laptop. Doesn't compete with Nintendo at all
so FRICKING sick of these techtubers SHITTING on our devices bros...
forgot my FRICKING image too GODDAMNIT
>not consumer friendly
>price
How bad is it?
$400
That stick placement does look awkward as frick
Do you think Deck will have an impact long term? I mean regardless of how you personally like it. There have been plenty of times in the past where the more powerful console/handheld faded into obscurity. On one hand it can be advertised to every Steam user which is nothing to scoff at. But can it ever get close to normie mass appeal? Like how Nintendo can run full TV add campaigns and be known to people who've never played games much if at all?
The UMPC trend is just coming into full swing, and thanks to the Deck it looks like Windows might actually take a backseat to Linux.
No, Valve is the smallest shit stain in the underwear. Their UMPC game is weaksauce compared to GPD and others. GPD has made literal UMPCS like pic related. Their mark will get wiped out after a few cycles. but GPD is blowing that diaper the frick out every night.
frfr valve be bussin on god no cap
did you have a stroke?
as if anyone gave a frick about a niche market like UMPCs until the steam deck was announced
>in the past where the more powerful console/handheld faded into obscurity
Often because nobody wanted to spend the time and resources developing for a closed garden system, deck just runs PC games that's one of its greatest assets, if it was another device where you had to repurchase all the games you already owned I don't think anybody would be all that interested, as for normie appeal, if they don't have a steam account I don't see why they'd be interested, normie games are the ones that are ported from Xbox & PS5 anyway so they have no motivation to just get a handheld version of those games, switch was a success for normies because Nintendo is so 1st party dependant, refusing to give up their IPs to be ported to competitors and go kicking and screaming with the emulation community, people know the only way to get Pokémon, Zelda, Mario and animal crossing is going to be whatever Nintendo is doing so they have to follow the trend
I like the Switch and think the Deck is cool. I just don't care for this amateurish waitlist shit. And wouldn't use it for pirating. Just older AAA games.
it's almost here
https://getmydeck.ingenhaag.dev/
The site in question that gives you the graph since some anon asked for it in another thread
Best of luck fellow q3ers
>You have 327 days, 23 hours, 21 minutes and 11 seconds of orders to go until it is your turn
lmao
To be fair, once they get past the first 24 hours of orders for each queue, there should be less concentrations of people and whole days/weeks of orders will pass every time they send out emails. Don't lose hope
july is the month of the deck
tick tock tendies
Okay
I own both and i use steam deck way more now. I might pull out switch if xbc3 doesnt emulate well
God i just wish the deck had a thin bezel like the oled switch revision does. I hate huge bezels.
Lol how long did the deck last before becoming obsolete? Four months?
What did you expect, trusting in Linux and valve hardware? You didn't just back the wrong pony, you went for the pony with no legs because you thought it might grow some. Dummies.
just bought another deck
It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it
Thanks bro, I put in an order for 1000 decks.
there's still time to repent and see the errors of your ways
you are not lost anons
Literally all of the anons that got their decks and posted it about it seemed to get bored of it within weeks and don't post any more. All that's left are shills, loonie cultists and tendies baiting themselves.
they got bored showing it off. now they're too busy playing it
ya literally this
valve knows it too, thats why they staggered the rollouts so fricking slow and shittily so that there's a constant stream of morons basking in their week of soiy
I play mine for a few hours every day. I haven’t even booted up rise on my PC in months because I’ve been exclusively playing sunbreak on my deck since it launched. Same goes for DMC5.
How the frick do you manage to play dmc5 for "months"? Lying shill.
That’s not what I meant. I mean I haven’t booted up DMC5 on my PC since I bought it. I just bought it during the sale, around the same time Sunbreak came out.
>not just having fun mastering combos and juggling enemies
do you even play video games?
I've been playing rise on it too. Powering through high rank since you can't just copy over the Switch save files.
That kinda sucks, I just used my cloud save on steam. How do you like the quality difference?
Yeah the cloud saves are great when I feel like switching to PC. It looks so much cleaner than Switch. Though I had to map Y+B to R4 'cause I kept hitting A by accident fricking up the combo.
>By buying a steam deck you are indirectly betraying and sabotaging Nintendo by buying a competitors handheld gaming console
someone please add "i dont even use my PC anymore" to the steamie shill bingo card
preview of the threads for the next month:

>play the intro to three switch games for ten minutes each
>take bait pics to shit post with
>put deck in a drawer and forget about it while posting on Ganker that it's your new 'daily driver'
The deck's too big to fit in a drawer
more like
'how i get roms'
'where bios'
'the exe file is bugged'
Why are you mad chink dog?
First 2 weeks I got deck I put in 20h in mass effect, 20h in dragons dogma, 5h in mad max and several hours in setting up emulation library. Im still playing it daily and have close to 100 games on it both steam , pirated other launcher and emualtion
We know there is nobody genuine posting about the deck because nobody posted vtm:b being played on it. Simple as.
there are some anons that have decks but they play the most fricking stupid obvious shit like muh elden ring
never played that game to be tbh but it's on the list
deck is seeming like the wrpg machine so far
>never played that game
then what the frick are you doing on Ganker?
none of the Ganker recommended games get played on it. It's all either reddit stuff or flavour of the month steam titles or valve showcase shit that wouldn't be touched here and is never talked about here like DMC5 or control. Nobody is showing pics of any actual games that Ganker plays, because there is nothing natural about it.
No deus ex (which would literally be the first choice of Ganker), no vtm:b, no dark souls, no xcom, nothing like that. It's how you know none of this is genuine.
>'it's all reddit stuff'
>proceeds to list literal reddit games of the century
It's like you don't even know there is a literal wiki for Ganker recommended games, zoom zoom
>"Ganker recommended games" is "/v/"
i don't even know where to begin
>i don't even know where to begin
check the "talking points" channel on your discord server. It's next to the "resources" channel with all the pics of the deck playing hades and vampire survivors
it's time to lurk anon
you've lost the plot
what's with the unconnected non-sequitur posts tonight? Is gpt-Ganker acting up again?
It's your schizo brain assuming everyone you ever talk to is one single person, so of course when you get more than one reply you get confused
anon that wiki got taken over by nefarious groups like, frickin, years ago.
true. If this was actually a product that anyone genuine on Ganker owned we'd have cringy greentext stories by now about how some fat autist screeched at a kid on a bus for laughing at him.
But all we get are these milquetoast marketing threads that do nothing but constantly wank on about the deck's positives, while quickly covering every hint of a negative comment
this is all we've got for a year of threads
That's the face of regret, right there
this is literally r eddit's idea of what Ganker is. These deck marketing threads stink
Ganker hasn't been good for a decade, i'll take what i can get
I don't own vtmb and I'm too lazy to pirate it again
Tell the israelites in charge that this old ass games the devs never see any of the money from shouldn't be sold for 20 euros
how did we get from "brb reinstallan" to "I don't own vtmb and I'm too lazy to pirate it again btw did you see how I said israelites haha that's so Ganker haha"
I don't get it
Are you a schizo who thinks everyone on Ganker is the same person? Only thing I can think of that would explain your post
I tried. But I cant set up controls property. I tried binding mouse buttons, actions etc but I cant get past first dialogue after you leave court
Like falseflagging but this piece of shit is a redundant FLOP and will only be remembered as such in the future. You literally bought the vita of this gen.
he's back
Lmao if you think I'm the only person saying thing thing is a flop. I haven't even posted before that since the capcha change.
No one other than valvekiddies talk about the thing, it's a blatant fricking failure, just like their "revolutionary" controller. I'll make fun of you losers for getting a valve-branded portable Xbox as much as I'd like.

im playing gta 5 right now. it works pretty well, but ive currently got it set to the lowest settings, dont feel the need to up them yet.
how hards modding it on the deck? i just want to add a bunch of cars and remove/reduce cop damage, i dont see myself playing the single player again, just would be nice to have a car playground when i want it
>how hards modding it on the deck?
prohibitively difficult
drag and drop is easy
using a mod manager through wine and actually getting it to run can be a giant ass pain.
hmm, so i cant mod the steam version, i gotta run a version with wine to do it, or just the mod manager with wine.
>he bought a fricking linux box and doesn't know how to use it
hahahahahah

*refunds it to ebay for 2x the value*
truuuuuue, hahh.... (:
well, yeah. last time i bothered using linux was like 15 years ago. theres no good reason to use linux as a daily driver unless your a hipster or actually doing real computer work, which i wasnt.
yeah, sorta why i got it, but ended up not.
You can mod thew steam version, the problem is getting a mod manager to run. You can try a lutis install script or just adding it as a non-steam game. I'm just saying I've had shitty problems getting them to run.
okay. well, i might give it a shot, its been a loooong time since i messed around with that stuff. i just want a bunch of cars and to reduce the values of some things. just have all the gta's on here with full saves and extra cars to mindlessly drive around in with music.
still, pretty stoked, it feels like having a psp again and spending days figuring out CFW's and tweaking stuff, that was a lot of fun.
>own both
>switch is for 1st parties and indies
>deck is for games not on switch and hentai games
what now
>switch
>for indies
??????????????
I'm sorry, I meant
>nindies
Indies run a lot better on deck and cost much less lol (and can be played on any PC/UMPC moving forward while they die with your switch if you buy them there)
Go back, you're not welcome here
i was promised photos of hentai games on deck and in public places
where are the fricking degenerates
steamies we're getting dunked on so hard this thread.... FRICK
Are you Cody lee ?
>no USB-A because with easy access to cheap storage solutions, nobody would buy your 512gb version
valve are such skeezy israelites. How does anyone trust a company like this?
Use a micro sd?
It has an SD slot. A hot usb 3 dongle protruding out the side of the console is a downgrade.
>A hot usb 3 dongle protruding out the side of the console is a downgrade.
why would valve need to do this? Literally every other UMPC has a neat little USB-A port for a reason anon
The Loki doesn't and I don't think the Neo does either. A dongle sticking out the side of your handheld is begging to be snapped off. It's just a moronic idea when you have an SD slot
Can't you just buy a USB-C cable for your external hard drive? Or an adapter? This is either the stupidest complaint I've ever heard, or I don't understand what you're complaining about.
>I simply don't understand why anyone would complain about having ONE (1) port on the deck
>so that you have to unplug everything when you need to charge it
>look forward to the official steam dock, goy!
You can use any usb C hub and have power in plus whatever other shit you want. Why would you use USB A for external storage anyway? That's way less convenient than just using a micro SD.
You didn't complain about the lack of ports, you did complain about the lack of USB-A because "Valve doesn't want you to use cheap storage solutions."
>You didn't complain about the lack of ports, you did complain about the lack of USB-A
uhhh anon..
If he said "this thing needed another USB-C port, so you can charge it and connect it to a monitor at the same time" I would understand... to a certain degree, since you can also spend $20 on a random dock and have as many ports as you may even need.
But no, he did complain specifically about the lack of USB-A, as if it was some sort of Valve's masterplan to force people to buy the most expensive version lmao.
Not that it matters, he's clearly shitposting. But still, he could shitpost about actual flaws you know?
Idiot. You can use hubs with power delivery to charge dock and have it connected with outputs etc you want
>why would you want to move your portable, goyim? Buy a nice expensive dock, or wait for the official steam dock!
Holder i got - $5 on aliexpress, and $40 for a dock
Back the frick up, hold the damn phone here. You cannot he serious. You bought a steamdeck and you're using some kind of actual chink usb dongle? That you bought from AliExpress, chinkshit central? Do I have this correct?
Reading comprehension anon, he got the holder (the plastic thing its cradled in) from ali, he didn't say the usb c connecter was from ali.
>and
yes he did, moron. you can even find the dockteck chick dongle on aliexpress.
Suck a dick gay I could say the same with the dependent claus at the end adding to the sentence connecting to it referencing AliExpress.
Its from amazon dummy. And most docks are chinese rebrand anyway
amazon is literally just aliexpress with a moron tax.
Yup. Unless you can wait for weeks, aliexpress is better. Though amazon refund and return policy is 10/10, so i dont mind overpaying sometimes. I have refunded headphones after use of year for full price. Thats how I upgraded from sonys xm3 to xm4
Then what's the problem with Ali?
My shit is unusable on tv though. Bought a $60 one and it just zooms the frick in on my tv. Messed around in desktop mode and it sorta worked but I tested Jedi Fallen Order and it was like 4fps. Slow as frick and the fan was going wild. I love my steam deck for solo shit but it has been a royal pain in the ass when it comes to tasks like connecting multiple controllers or putting it on tv.
Funny thing is the $15 hdmi adapter that doesn’t charge it works fine on tv, but the $60 one which charges the deck acts fricking moronic when doing so.
How the frick is that docking
not that anon, but ill agree it would be nice if they could of magically fit in a usb-a slot without making it any bigger. its kinda a pain to have to have an additional item you have to carry/could lose.
but really, why on earth would you just not use a microsd instead i dont know.
this is a better argument. yeah, 2 usb-c's would be nice, but its incredibly minor. what are you plugging in that you wouldnt have a usb-c hub with you anyways?
I like both so go frick yourself. A PC and a Switch is all you need. The Deck is just another PC.
Nintendo hardware really is something special (second to their brilliant first party software). There’s that playful aspect that adds to the handheld experience. The fact the controllers are detachable and you can play split screen. The deck is too industrial and too practical. It lacks the soul that Nintendo offers and the software to really make it standout.
>b-but emulation
Yea go choke on a dick. The emulation scene on the deck is shoddy at best. Also Nintendo is the only company that’s trying these days and if you truly love playing their games then you owe it to them to buy the games. By supporting the thing you love you in turn will get more of it. It’s why people donate to twitch or start patreons.
>Emulation scene
You can set up emudeck in one goz all you need is usual place bios in premade folders and put roms in premade folders. After that you can manually adjust settings on each app how you want and thats it
>nintendos the only one trying
>valve releases a open handheld you can put whatever os you want on, with the intention of allowing you to play a large percentage of pc games, while implementing the tools from the steam controller that attempt to bridge the gap between keyboard and console controllers, with massive tweaking ability and endless settings
>nintendo released some cardboard
>The emulation scene on the deck is shoddy at best
it's literally just a fricking pc
I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it was cool that consoles and handhelds used to have custom architectures that made them unique. On the other hand, it make development, porting and emulating much easier when everything is just x86 and ARM.
I understand what you're saying but in this case the Deck is literally just a Ryzen PC running a standard PC OS. It's a laptop in a different form factor. Valve never intended for it to be a classic "locked down" console experience.
My bad, I spazzed and thought you were talking about Switch and wrote my architecture comment towards the Switch.
The "emulation scene on the Deck" comment broke my brain because like you said, the Deck is literally just a PC.
>The emulation scene on the deck is shoddy at best
>Also Nintendo is the only company that’s trying these days
It's hilarious seeing these sentences side by side given how half-assed and terrible nintendo's own official N64 emulation on the switch is.
Anybody have any good headphone/earbud recommendations for this thing? Willing to spend around $100.
I use wireless headphones on my PC ala usb and would rather not deal with the latency issues that bluetooth headphones would bring.
gotcha senpai, goes great with the programming socks
Just use wired headphones, homosexual.
Speaking of docks. You know what I just realised?
Since Valve has such major fricking issues with delivering the decks themselves, just what are the shipping issues going to look like for the promised Dock they're supposedly working on? Are we going to have 6 month queue times again just for it?
Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they just outright scrap the idea entirely.
The issue is that Gabe has to bless each one by rubbing his wiener and balls on them first.
no wonder mine smells so good
Yep, gays love that smell.
Monster hunter rise worth picking up for playing on the deck? never played one before
They better not because of the usb c hubs I've tried the deck isn't getting enough power to not be slowly be draining anyway while plugged into hdmi.
the docks are likely going to be the same thing as the switch docks. mostly empty hunks of plastic with barely any electronics in them.
The Deck works with standard docks which support USB-C and DP video over USB-C. You don't need to buy the specific model Valve is working on since it does not/will not have any special features. If anything it's probably going to be inferior in terms of I/O compared to some other docks you can get which are already on the market.
>of the usb c hubs I've tried the deck isn't getting enough power
You just need a decent model and it will work fine. FWIW I've tried the Dell WD19 dock I have for my work laptop on the Deck, everything works perfectly. The dock can provide the full 100W of the USB-C spec and all the ports work, I've even tried 2 4k 60Hz monitors connected at once and those worked too.
Somehow my Deck in desktop mode goes 4:3 and I can't press a single fricking thing on the screen. How do I fix this? No idea how it got to such a fricked up resolution
Did you update your Deck while in Desktop mode? I was told you shouldn't do that because it fricks things up.
Try reformatting.
wait is steamies tryna lowkey groom tendies?
steam deck was a fricking dumb idea. developers create games to meet certain requirements so it would run well on that hardware. now you have it backwards where there's a never ending list of "will it run on steam deck?" maintained by some intern because people sure aren't targeting handhelds when making pc games
this entire post is fricking moronic
please lurk
>t. braindead layman consumer
stay mad
Most modern games run it though, it benefits of being slightly above 800p, also most not super taxing games do well on it

Ganker and Ganker united under the same soiyn
Speaking as someone who grew up on PC and never touched a Nintendo product until the Gamecube, your kiddy shit totally passed me by, frick Nintendo for all the harm they have caused on this industry and more importantly frick the fans for enabling them.
