I remember about a month ago I saw a comment on facebook saying that you shouldn't post about you know who and b*rzum because they will nuke the page/post whatever. To which I replied with "wtf I'm merely discussing Varg and Burzum for their music and I don't care about his political ideology nor I give a damn" It was like some bot automacally read the word "Varg" and I was banned for a month and the post nuked we truly live under a fascist regime.
Anyways.. Is G1 worth it if I'm absolutely certain I'll hate the controls? I beat Risen recently and really liked it even though it became a fricking chore during the last half of the game
>Is G1 worth it
Absolutely. Last half or so is exactly the same slog as in Risen, but you really play it for the atmosphere and feel of the first half. >if I'm absolutely certain I'll hate the controls?
They kinda grow on you. I played it back when it first released and even it took some adjustment. Still feels weird at first for a couple of minutes when I launch it every couple of years. But you can actually play it with one hand after you get used to it and just hold a glass of pruno in the other (for added atmosphere, idk what rice schnapps would actualy taste but there must be reason beer and wine from the outside world is a prized commodity in the colony).
>Is G1 worth it
Yes, its one of those games that feel alive for most part(end part of the game is kinda meh)
when you will finish G1, G2 is even better(still end part is kinda meh)
stay away from G3 and especially G3 forsaken gods abomination

I noticed this one here as well but I'm not sure what classic actually is.. Piranha bytes made a post in 2022 saying you can choose pre-notr when launching the game on steam they didnt say anything about this branch
Ok so I followed the post you shared.
The only thing I noticed was that >System-Pack für G2 Addon(g2notr-systempack-1.1.exe - 2,10 MB (2 202 976 bytes))
that the guy mentions on step 5 doesnt exist anymore, It took me to a github page to download 1.8 but I'm guessing thats normal because its a post from 2015
The game opens with this launcher now and I can choose Classic even though NoTR remains installed. The only issue appears to be that screenshots get fricked as you can see.
I remember grabbing a crossbow and exploiting some dodgy physics to farm swampsharks (if you stood in a specific place on one of the small islands, they couldn't climb on to reach you) for xp.
in these games there are multiple tricks to level up effortless / quick, players easily stumble into them on accident: like taking the guide NPC to the other camps.
After that you massacre the scavs in 2 seconds
*honk*
Remember a troony having a meltdown on gothic's reddit over this meme because "varg is an alt-right nazi"
>obscure reddit drama
Come on man, you couldn't have possibly thought it was okay to make this post.
Did you not see the troony word? Where do you think the newbie came from?
Would you feel more comfortable if I called you a Black person or a homosexual? I wouldn't want to step on any triggers.

Poland has best gothic fandom
Well it's their best rpg
Wasn't Gothic made in (East) Germany?
As we say here, "Gothic is polish game made by german hands"
Kinda true. G1 is more grindy than 2 though.
East Germany no longer existed in 2001 and the company was in the west anyway.
Polish fandoms for RPGs seem to be quality in general. At least ones for Witcher and Planescape are top tier.
Excellent texture work.
How do I get rid of G2 NoTR on Steam? I'm not spending 10$ on GOG for that. Is there a google drive or somewhere I can get the vanilla version from?

So I guess I'm ready?
Yes, the latest version of System Pack for NoTR is 1.8 - the one that should be installed.
>So I guess I'm ready?
Yep
I don't know why, but I remember them being really annoying.
Because of how many of them you have to fight in order to level up. Gothic requires too much grinding imo, otherwise it's a top tier game
