Good with it's death perhaps something good might come out. Legit all limitations on the old total war titles could have been removed by now by the twcenter autists but never did it because it's illegal an shieeet

          >You and the increasingly irrelevant sectors of gaming in a crash,
No, everything is in a crash. Most companies have suffered massive loses and/or layoffs. The entire live service bubble has collapsed in on itself.

          >Yeah, well, GTA and Call of Duty is still really profitable.
Of course they are really profitable. The fact that clearly isn't enough shows just how fricked things are.

The things game devs don't understand, is that most of these markets are individually separated. If you go from making PC games to making smartphone games, you INSTANTLY just erased your PC market and have switched fully to the mobile arena. Nobody on PC wants to play mobile shit....It's WHY they fricking bought a thousand dollar fricking desktop to begin with.

Consoles somewhat share a market with PC, but barely. Console players also hate fricking mobile-shit as well though, it's why they bought the fricking console to begin with.

Mobile games, stay mobile games. You don't gain any market share by switching it. You simply...."switch" to a separate market, where you then are competing with the trillions of pajeet street-shitter apps that are barfed out on the play stores.

The sooner devs realize this, the better.

To fricking bad that the primal objective of being into any market is gain as much money as possible, right anon?

The market for mobile is massive, but good fricking luck getting a fraction of the market share. Even if you do, people usually don't care for developers but for individual games on mobile, so good luck keeping that share.

              I don't get it either.

GTA sells on brand name alone, normies buy it simply because every other normie buys it. It's like the scores of people who watched The Mandalorian or Game of Thrones despite having no actual interest in the subject matter just because they didn't want to be left out of the conversations when their friends/co-workers were talking about the latest episode.

This impacts most of the relevant parts.
The people who have money and ultimately pay for a project that requires 200-600 people's man hours for three to five years are collapsing. This doesn't suddenly not impact the employees who are doing their jobs well enough, because they tend to work for these people.

Only true rogue indies, which there are very few, MOST get money from these people, or occasional small AA developers who have kept their heads down through the insanity will not be completely fricked by this, and even then, they USUALLY get some backend help to fund things like online presence ect.
Things will survive, of course, but MOST things will be fricked one way or another.
Further, what's left afterwards might not be much better. The film industry had a similar collapse ages ago, and look what a frickfest that is now

They had good aspects but they couldn't get over the gameplay feeling like floaty bullshit. Only archers and artillery feel good in that series. Then there's all the asiaticclick and no breathing room for strategy in the battles.

            >Only archers and artillery feel good in that series.
In 90% of total war games only cavalry feels good.

              Anonymous

Artillery feels good in everything except Empire. Infantry feel good in Rome 1 and Med 2. Archers feel fine in Med 2 and the crossbowmen and gunners feel great.

                Anonymous

I dislike ranged in rome 1 and Medieval 2. Artillery feels like I'm hitting them with styrofoam. Archers and guns are technically better, but they just have no impact whatsoever. Even looking at the kill feed afterwards makes them seem like a joke even if they are "strategically" important.

Infantry is good in Rome 1. I want to say they are okay in Med 2, but the two handed bug combined with the ridiculously overpowered nature of cavalry makes them not good for much other than holding the line.

                Anonymous

Styrofoam? Artillery is a guaranteed kill in Med 2. And holding the line is their job so that's why I like them so much, and why they're so unsatisfying in warscape shit due to no unit collision.
Try using crossbowmen close up, their impact is massive. I still remember the battle where I defended a city from a massive army using only a skeleton crew, with the decider being my units of crossbowmen in the streets.

I actually like arty in ETW, the exploding rounds are very good and the cannons can really waste enemy lines. Also, not a big fan of archers and crossbows in M2TW, I think it's the sound or something idk
But I agree with you overall
