Is this another difficulty mod?
New fortifications sound cool but I don't need every infantry dying to one gunshot from 300m away.
Nah it makes actually pretty easy because you can research artillery men and builders. Builders can build stationary artillery and field guns like auto flak canons. It kind of becomes a tower defense and a easy until later on during the campaign where they will send late war tanks against you. Play it on normal to test it out. It's not too easy and there's still a challenge for it >I don't need every infantry dying to one gunshot from 300m away
I'm pretty new myself but the thing about this game that I found is that you have to play it methodically and slow. Recon is pretty important as it becomes your eyes on the battlefield. Tell your men to return fire and send scouts. Return fire or hold fire so they don't shot anything they see right away.
>I'm pretty new myself but the thing about this game that I found is that you have to play it methodically and slow
That is how I play it. Very slowly.
I meant it litereally about how some "realism" mods just increase the range and damage of weapons without realizing the game is balanced around it's map sizes.
Does it do anything to setup-time or does it work with the setup time increasing mod? I love digging in for defense missions.
Tbqt, I don't think longer range or any realistic range is helpful at all because it will frick up balance and maps are too small
The mod itself has a sub mod to increase defense timers
Total visual and mechanics upgrade compared to MOWAS2, dynamic campaign also helps fill in the content outside of just skirmish mode against ai and in mp, so there's much more replayability. In terms of content for mods, yes there are great mods for this game like valour that flesh out more units and factions. But the version of valour for MOWAS2 also has more than double the content and variety when you compare each version.
I just want late war units in conquest so I can see if I can go infantry only with sturmgewehrs, but all mods that seem to allow that either suck or don't work anymore.
>Conquest doesn't feature any late war infantry you fricking moron. >The roster is the midwar one.
You still only need to modify one file to enable them if I recall my GoH modding right.
It's not about "fun", it's about GOH AI being shit and player units not firing back at things they should clearly be able to fight.
The terrible AI needs all the help it can get.
So which is more fun?
I just want late war units in conquest so I can see if I can go infantry only with sturmgewehrs, but all mods that seem to allow that either suck or don't work anymore.
>I just want late war units in conquest so I can see if I can go infantry only with sturmgewehrs, but all mods that seem to allow that either suck or don't work anymore.
Also this
It's not about "fun", it's about GOH AI being shit and player units not firing back at things they should clearly be able to fight.
The terrible AI needs all the help it can get.
So I guess if you're playing with Fog of War off the officer is useless in conquest?
He doesn't provide any kind of bonus like he does in skirmish (increased CP) right?
AA is a bit moronic in the game, you have to manually click that plane, be in range and at a spot where you're not blocked.
Letting AA handle itself automatically just doesn't really work quite often.
Killing infantry and light vehicles. Nothing more.
>Wirblewind/Ostwind >Shreds Inf and L-Veh >Track rapist for M-veh and some H-veh >Shoots down planes if you pay attention >Can still Cool aid man buildings and walls
They are better Hannomags for infantery support.
I was able to get it to shoot down a plane when I clicked on the plane to attack it. It was already tracking it though so it might of just been a range thing.
It is amazing at taking out light vehicles and infantry.
>Wirblewind/Ostwind >Shreds Inf and L-Veh >Track rapist for M-veh and some H-veh >Shoots down planes if you pay attention >Can still Cool aid man buildings and walls
They are better Hannomags for infantery support.
The Wehrmacht was based and redpilled so it used highly mobile light artillery integrated directly into infantry regiments for close fire-support of its infantry, hence Light Infantry Gun. Meanwhile soviets were cringe and bluepilled so they just had light artillery.
>So functionally, they're the same?
Doctrine and integration aside, the German gun was also a lot better at supporting infantry for a variety of reasons, so not really. But the Russian gun had some nice perks too.
In game I liked the german gun more due to its better firing arc and manual control. >Is there any way to tell which ones are direct fire (like AT guns) and indirect fire (like mortars)?
Both were used in direct and indirect fire-roles, anon.
Well i know from a captured '122mm A-19 M193137' that is has both modes. If I load a HE shell it fires up and over obstacles. If i load it with a APHE it fires directly at the target (and oh boy does it completely frick any tank it hits).
In GAME terms, not autist terms, a LIG will have a shorter range and less of an arc (meaning it's more of a straight-shooter, more similar to an anti-tank gun) while a field gun, similar caliber or higher, will have arced fire, more range, and less accuracy. Infantry guns support infantry and are better for direct fire and field guns are better for indirect fire.
Also for how to tell if they're direct or indirect, the only real manner you have is names, so you'll have to check those with translation or historical name. At least for Germans, you have IG for infantry gun (Infanterie Geschutz in actual German but it's the same abbreviation thankfully), Feld Haubitze for artillery, and PaK for anti-tank. Soviets do all their naming by year which makes it more difficult, but generally looking at the gun and barrel can give you a good estimate for what it probably is used for.

Yeah but the USA also has shit for naming schemes with too many M(number) things. Thank the British for giving nicknames like Lee and Sherman, and good fricking luck telling the difference between M4A1 (early) and M4A1 (mid) and M4A1 (late).

I could go on but I'm sure you get the point. America has the most moronic naming system in the world for military hardware.
So I have all my infanty using looted MGs. It's an entire MG squad.
At the start of the battle though they don't have them equipped.
Do I have to discard their rifles completely for them to use them?
In order to capture an enemy vehicle/emplacment, do I have to have a guy sitting in it at the end of the battle, or is putting a guy in a tank then taking him out still count it at captured?
A single AT gun can carry you a long way in the first few days.
>A single AT gun can carry you a long way in the first few days.
The infantry gun on the german side is much more flexible, better against infantry, has a better arc and kills every early vehicle, no need to spend money on an AT gun immediately. No idea about the commies.
Guess so. The "Germany Uncensored" mod updated today. I don't know what the guy did but it broke my save.
I used https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2892778705 to remove the mod from my save and it works now.
I do, you do take a performance hit but I think you can just modify it to certain time. I forgot where I found it but I set mine to 10mins. It looks great because battlegrounds look like proper battlegrounds.
Is there any setting for unit to cast colored highlight like in this .webm for better visibility, I searched the option but I can't find anything other than rim lighting.
I've never used any of the Pumas before.
do they have trailer hitches? I like using armored cars to sneak behind enemy lines and hit-and-run gun emplacements.
Being able to hitch them up and steal them too would be awesome.
>land battleship >about 10 people for a crew >5+ turrets
what were they thinking? Also, that KV-2 basically just bullied it's way over my defensive line until I tracked it and captured.
>what were they thinking?
The same thing that all based weapon/vehicle designers in WW2 thought: >how can I make my faction OP in the inevitable video game adaptation?
It should be, but I'm almost always playing Axis in early war lobbies and the Soviet players always find ways to lose them en masse. My last match had me cheese three of them with the Karl Gerat.
Ah okay thanks. Tanks get so many kills though it doesn't take long for them to rank up.
It would be cool if I could transfer crew from an old tank to a new one in conquest.
>set up klling field with hedgehogs and AT mines >Take out a couple truck and light tanks >They just keep coming >Track a T-34 M1941 & M4A2 (Late) >Sneak up behind them with my Sniper >Able to use other vehicles as cover >Looted HEAT grenade rifle >Shoot at engine till it sets alight >Crew bails out >Mow them down with MP40 >Sneak around to T-34 >Repeat
Shit like this is why I love this game.
Don't remember if they changed it in CtA/GoH, but in AS2 you would tell the flamethrower dude to hold the fueltank in his hands and siphon it off a vehicle's fuel tank.
>lobby chat not working anymore for some reason
I pray for a "fix the jank" update. It's so close to perfection if it got the rough edges everywhere shaved down.
I've used that >Veteran and Proficiency Level Cap Increase(Level cap increased)
mod and a lot of micro to turn my Sniper into Da Übermensch.
What is a good weapon to give him? A sniper rifle seems like a waste since it still takes the same amount of time to zero-in.
panzerfaust to kill tanks/vehicles. One of the Belt MGs for anti infantry. Being able to kill vehicles is probably more important if you are using that mod since I think artillery and tank shells can still instakill infantry
Only units I've gotten past default max besides him are tank crew. Since they never get out of the tank except to repair, i can't say.
The only reason my sniper is that high because i heavy micro him.
I don't know how it's really supposed to be use for but 'Suppression Fire' works great for artillery and mortars. They'll fire a few shots then stop. So you they don't shoot till they're out of ammo like with 'Attack Ground'.
I just used a Tiger II (the Ausf.B) for the first time. Even with just the one it dominated the battlefield.
Is there any reason to use a lesser tank ever again once I have that?
This game is dope, i like to take my time in the Campaign and capture different equipment, repair, position my troops, the games is brutal. Talking about mods: The Last Grenadier is very popular.
I'm just playing the most familiar mode I have over AS2. Also is it just me or my infantry can't shoot jackshit and die just in drove even behind a solid cover.
They are probably not shooting when they should. Common bug, makes game unplayable.

Feels like enemy AI can pintpoint like some kind of terminator while my guys shooting blank. Enemy AI will run when being thrown grenade while mine would just stood there like a bunch of morons. They spam grenades too. I swear it isn't this bad in AS2.

It isn't. GoH's player unit AI is just garbage. Enemy AI sees through fog of war too.
Sorry, I meant to specify I want to use it for AA. The enemy always does at least one bombing run during defense missions.
Either the 2cm or 3.7cm. Though might just be better off with the wiblewind, even if it costs 3x as much. It's one of the few things I've seen shoot down planes.
Is this single-player? How is the AI, I'm tired of playing Company of Heroes 2 because the AI is shit and need a new WW2 strategy game for singleplayer autists like me
I exclusively play single player and have 347 hrs played so far, i would say the AI has gotten better then when it first released but its not quite at MoW AS2, but its still in active development and the occasional head scratcher from AI does not stop me from enjoying it
you can play campaign, conquest mode, skirmish single player etc. It's not perfect but it's great. AI could use some work and remember to do recon recon recon which is very important especially in conquest when AI get's stationary guns like German 88 that will snipe your armor.

Yeah I tried it and it seems really cool and I really like the conquest mode idea but this game is not for me - the AI is garbage propping itself up on a few cheats and no active pause selection not even slowdown for conquest. I'm not a hardcore RTS super clicker, I need at least a little time to organize my units especially before I go Direct Control to make up how piss poor my units are at firing at obvious enemy targets even the og Men of War had slowdown for hectic situations but man ....and it sounds like they can never implement pause selection due to bizarre engine design so yeah....
Thanks for the recommendations and tips but I'm gonna pass on this one, Headquarters World War 2 is in development that game seems more my speed hopefully.

I have no idea, anon, whatever setting that is it's prob default because I never touched those settings.
>are compatible with a lot of mods
I want one where they're actually part of the tech tree, not just ones where you get them dumped in your lap though.
I wish they'd just copycat the Steel Division 2 campaigns because conquest boils down to having 1-2 recon units of any type and then everything else being tanks that just mow down the A.I since it's braindead.
Is this game good for single player?
I LOVE MoW games, BUT fricking devs mainstream their games for multiplayer, and I have this offline multiplayer bullshit for single in MoW AS 2.
You pick a faction.
You unlock units in a tech tree.
You buy units with requisition.
You resupply them with supplies.
All three resources are earned through combat.
Combat gives you three attack options. If you win and take it and the next combat mission you defend it.
All units (that survive) persist through the campaign, keeping their EXP and equipment.
It's single-player. It might have co-op but I don't know I've never looked.
It is a stand alone game that was made into a DLC, and yes it has a good single player as it has both traditional campaigns, the dynamic campaign from CtA/MOW2CW, and CPU skirmish.
44: V 1.038.0 >Added to Conquest, mini-map indicators of enemy attack locations and message text when Player is defender
So does this mean I don't need that mod anymore?
Human move-order Fixes >Fixed single click move order for humans to not reload when low ammo in weapon
->Fixed single click move order not always working for single soldier when actively engaging enemy >Fixed humans not being able to stop and aim at enemies properly when given single click move order >Fixed when humans are in a squad to have reload animations to be interrupted and move when squad leader moves (so that they don't stay behind) >Added new conditions for humans when following a single-click move order to stop and respond when being shot at by enemies
This will make a world of difference. Probably one of the most requested fix ever.
Imagine how much faster it could have been fixed if the moronic subhumans that call themselves fans of this game didn't pretend it was working fine for years.
It's basically a more modern AS2 but it does genuinely have performance issues. It's good if you can get past those problems, especially if you can get the game on a good sale.
Its one of the most broken strategy games I've played, might want to try the um 'extended demo' first before giving them hard-earned money to decide if you can get more fun than frustration out of it.
It's basically MoWAS2 with better graphics and QoL improvements, I've gone back and tried to play MoWAS2 and it felt dated. The lack of factions is a bummer but Valor adds all the missing nations back.
I have about 500 hrs on it. shitty sandbox campaign mode and it starts framing out once you blow too much shit up
Its an upgraded mowas2, i love it
can you please just say what mods you recommend that are compatible

What's your thoughts on the different nations?
Can't play without Conquest Enhanced, you should probably turn off the ability for the AI to spawn from behind since its annoying as frick.
Does it make it much harder?
I'm a shitter.
what are you having trouble with
The fact that the enemy has 5x as many units than you.
It's not so bad in the defense missions but it makes the offensive missions pretty difficult.
I think it's meant to balance out being able to direct control units
I just want late war units in conquest so I can see if I can go infantry only with sturmgewehrs, but all mods that seem to allow that either suck or don't work anymore.
Edit the start file so u have lots of research points and unlock the unit lol not hard
Conquest doesn't feature any late war infantry you fricking moron.
The roster is the midwar one.
>Conquest doesn't feature any late war infantry you fricking moron.
>The roster is the midwar one.
You still only need to modify one file to enable them if I recall my GoH modding right.
Fog of War on or off?
good question actually. maybe turning it off trivializes the game too much. but turning it on means you have to pepper the map with scouts.
Off. The AI always knows where you are anyway.
this
Which way is more fun and why? I don't care about fairness.
I find fog of war annoying since the enemy can shoot you and you don't even see them
Thanks, I'll try turning it off next time.
So which is more fun?

Only if there's space.
So I guess if you're playing with Fog of War off the officer is useless in conquest?

Does crew exp effect anything? besides the cool camo netting, I don't see much reason to the Panzer Ace.
They do everything faster and more efficiently based on their exp. Faster turning/acceleration, faster reloading, better accuracy, faster repairs, etc
Ah okay thanks. Tanks get so many kills though it doesn't take long for them to rank up.
It would be cool if I could transfer crew from an old tank to a new one in conquest.

For me it is flamethrowers and looted M2 brownings.
Does the flamethrower need a engineer supply truck to reload? He won't do it at a normal supply truck for me.
Well it's not the engineer truck either.
Frick me is it the fuel truck? I've never even bothered unlocking that.

I've used that
>Veteran and Proficiency Level Cap Increase(Level cap increased)
mod and a lot of micro to turn my Sniper into Da Übermensch.
What is a good weapon to give him? A sniper rifle seems like a waste since it still takes the same amount of time to zero-in.
panzerfaust to kill tanks/vehicles. One of the Belt MGs for anti infantry. Being able to kill vehicles is probably more important if you are using that mod since I think artillery and tank shells can still instakill infantry
is the level up mod balanced or does it feel a bit cheesy? I do like the aspect of vet units making an impact on the battlefield.
Scouting so you don't get your expensive heavy tank shreked by something cheap you missed.
QRF for large maps.
This game is dope, i like to take my time in the Campaign and capture different equipment, repair, position my troops, the games is brutal. Talking about mods: The Last Grenadier is very popular.
night missions look neat
Is there any reason to use the stationary AA guns when the versions mounted on trucks cost the same pop?
the stationary is lower profile and is therefore much better protected in the tank ditches
Is this DLC only? I just installed this game from the last steam sale and there's a lack of arty and some stationary weapon. I'm playing skirmish btw.
Play conquest you pussy
I fricking love the Nashorn, bros
Nashorn is a beauty but bit to much a glass cannon for my liking
just treat it as antitank gun that's a bit more mobile, shoot & scoot
expensive ass antitank gun thats a huge target
Is this single-player? How is the AI, I'm tired of playing Company of Heroes 2 because the AI is shit and need a new WW2 strategy game for singleplayer autists like me
I exclusively play single player and have 347 hrs played so far, i would say the AI has gotten better then when it first released but its not quite at MoW AS2, but its still in active development and the occasional head scratcher from AI does not stop me from enjoying it
Ok I'll check it out I'm desperate for a new strategy game to play right now
you can play campaign, conquest mode, skirmish single player etc.
You can press the pause key on your keyboard to pause the game, this works for all game modes, including multiplayer if you are the host.
How do I organically add late war units to conquest so I can get stg44s?
are compatible with a lot of mods

I have no idea, anon, whatever setting that is it's prob default because I never touched those settings.
>are compatible with a lot of mods
I want one where they're actually part of the tech tree, not just ones where you get them dumped in your lap though.
They are part of the tech tree. The warden ss one has a specific patch from ARM mod that you have to unlock in 1943 or something like that
>The warden ss one
Isn'tthat both of them?
>Recruit a shitload of Anti-Tank squads
>Collect their single (one) ((1)) in a vehicle
>Distribute them as needed
>3 Frigates on a lone destroyer
>homosexuals just keep skirting around
>Eliminate order
>It crumples under 4 seconds
Yes, I know. I'm sorry.
I dont get it.
I wish they'd just copycat the Steel Division 2 campaigns because conquest boils down to having 1-2 recon units of any type and then everything else being tanks that just mow down the A.I since it's braindead.
>Steel Division 2 campaigns
What are they like? I asked if it has good SP in their tad one and everyone told me it's boring.
new blogpost
https://steamcommunity.com/games/400750/announcements/detail/4017842839335381357?snr=2___
looks like we're getting a new game mode
new update / new game mode and more sound overhauls
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3029596703&searchtext=division
adds Panzer Division Frundsberg and comes with a line of beutepanzer shermans to the german tech tree which is neat
even comes with 4 ss dudes riding it that you can dismount
Is this game good for single player?
I LOVE MoW games, BUT fricking devs mainstream their games for multiplayer, and I have this offline multiplayer bullshit for single in MoW AS 2.
I' pretty much play exclusively in Conquest mode.
They're still technically "skirmish" games but the units you have are persistent through each match.
What's that? Is this mode for offline game? I just don't like to play with someone else.
Yes, it has actual scripted campaigns. Not just the AS2 excuse for singleplayer
This is a DLC to CtA, correct?
So I can play Call to Arms, but does it have good single player?
It is a stand alone game that was made into a DLC, and yes it has a good single player as it has both traditional campaigns, the dynamic campaign from CtA/MOW2CW, and CPU skirmish.
I mean does Call to Arms have good single? If I am going to pay for it might as well play it.
It is OK for a Men of War game, not a big fan of the stealth missions in any of the games myself.
I actually quite like the stealth missions
I prefer the base Call to Arms game, the one set in the modern day
disgusting
I've never been a fn of contemporary warfare.
I remember being really disappointed when they announced Battlefield 2.
Honestly, it is not bad modded. WarFigher is basically Robz for CTA.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3166212415&searchtext=
anyone tried this yet?
Looks dope but busy with hot mod
>Robz
>in Gates of Hell
Cancer squared
Call to Shit: Gates of Ass
44: V 1.038.0
>Added to Conquest, mini-map indicators of enemy attack locations and message text when Player is defender
So does this mean I don't need that mod anymore?
Human move-order Fixes
>Fixed single click move order for humans to not reload when low ammo in weapon
->Fixed single click move order not always working for single soldier when actively engaging enemy
>Fixed humans not being able to stop and aim at enemies properly when given single click move order
>Fixed when humans are in a squad to have reload animations to be interrupted and move when squad leader moves (so that they don't stay behind)
>Added new conditions for humans when following a single-click move order to stop and respond when being shot at by enemies
This will make a world of difference. Probably one of the most requested fix ever.
Imagine how much faster it could have been fixed if the moronic subhumans that call themselves fans of this game didn't pretend it was working fine for years.
the sound update is pretty good and the performance on some maps are noticeable
Yeah the sound update is nice, also enjoying the new 4v4 map
Is this game actually better than Men of War Assault Squad 2?
I looked at a few videos and the unit variety seems very nice, but performance looks kinda shit.
Is this just MoW2 but better? How does it compare to Robz
AS2 is better. This only has 4 nations (finland is barely even fleshed out so I am BARELY counting it)
AS2 has way more variety in factions.
Please respect CTA-GoH:O
It's basically MoWAS2 with better graphics and QoL improvements, I've gone back and tried to play MoWAS2 and it felt dated. The lack of factions is a bummer but Valor adds all the missing nations back.
