I'm new to Fire Emblem. Is this a good entry point? I've heard it has lots of nostalgia pandering and references, so I'm not sure whether this is right for me.

There's a lot of references to older games, but the game is designed to be an entry point, so none of that will really matter. Out of the two fire emblems on switch, it's generally agreed that engage has the better gameplay while three houses has the better story. Both of them are good starting points, so choose the game that sounds better in your opinion.
It's a terrible first entry if you've never played an SRPG before because there are no redeeming qualities outside of the gameplay which you won't be accustomed to enough to appreciate yet.

I didn't hate it, I thought the combat was good and it was pleasant to look at, especially compared to the lack of AA that Three Houses had.
It was just completely unremarkable in every other way, and the character designs are still stupid and suck ass.
Anyone have the links for the rest of the DLC? I remember one came out with the torrent, but I don't know if anyone even felt assed to bother with the rest of it.

Lol whut? I liked Engage's Gameplay and characters. Pretty much every Solm unit (except Bunet, poor thing) are standouts in the series for me. Especially Panette and Pandreo.
I'm still slowly playing through it. It's decent but I have to admit that the story, world, and character designs are a mixed bag.
