They added gazillion amounts of health to bosses which made them very tedious and they drastically reduced the amount of red orbs you get for upgrades, which only made you grind way more. It didn't help that the game had TONS of weapons to improve which had unique models. It's one of my favourite games but the western version is basically unplayable if you actually want to have fun.

It is genuinely so fricking easy to find a rom community and an entire database of links they provide that I've become convinced anyone who has to ask is some employee trying to dmca them.

this particular version isn't on all of the usual sites because it is a Japanese version and most uploaders don't bother to see if the Jap version is import friendly(has a build in english translation).

You shouldn't need more than two saves in any good RE game, and even that is unnecessary considering the games can be beaten in two hours. Just don't get hit.
The game is balanced around them, zoom zoom. The only part that isn't is the lack of auto aim in the Western release which makes it slower to run away and turn around to pop, but that is easily remedied by just running three steps further.
People put to much afterthought into this. The realities that back then they didn’t really get what makes a good game and just were like “yeah 8 saves us enough” without realizing how frustrating that is
