No. It's easier and cheaper for them to make tacked on mechanics

No, you will buy a $30 flavor pack DLC and will be happy

And why they still haven´t a "fan" outrage worst that CA? Oh right, because they don´t have british buttholes as the principal fanbase.

ck3 dwarfs ck2 in player numbers and most "people" that play it treat it as sims not a strategy game
we'll see how EU5 turns out though

To be frank, I never understood why people treat CK games as strategies, and not sims. Like... why? It's blatantly a character-centric game, Princess Maker style, and yet so many people get their panties in a twist that this is not an elaborate strategy game. It's like complaining about P&C adventure sucking as a shooter, and only because both of those genres require a mouse.

because ck2 was a lot mechanically deeper than ck3

              Anonymous

how? Because you could put 3 generals in an army instead of one? Travel already mogs everything ck2 had.

              Anonymous

Not only it really wasn't, but those mechanics were still squarely on characters, not strategy. It's a paper doll game, plain and simple. Always have been. CK1 was the only one that tried to be a strategy game first and foremost, and that mostly due to the limitations of EU2 engine - characters were simply a tacked-on feature, and by mid game completely ignorable. CK2? Characters are your whole gameplay.
              >b-but it has a map
Ah yes, the intricate gameplay of map painting, the peak of all strategy games. Especially since CK2 has ALL counties equal due to its mechanics. It literally doesn't matter if you take over bumfrick nowhere in the Shetlands, or a country in Northern Italy - both can be as good.

Well not quite due to terrain, holdings slots, wonders, holy sites, trade routes, etc.
None of that other than Trade Routes is not represented in CK3 though.

                >holdings slots
You know you can get additional ones(up to the maximum) from events right?
                >terrain
                Barely matters in 2
                >wonders
                You can build your own

                Anonymous

Holding slots and wonders can be gained but they take a long time (especially holding slots) and a good deal of investment, so counties that already have them are more useful to seize. Time is a commodity itself after all.
Some counties are also more useful not just because of the county itself but due to the duchy it is located in.

                >ding slots and wonders can be gained but they take a long time
You can turn a complete wilderness into 6 barony county in a span of 50 years, with maxed out prosperity. If you don't have a wonder crammed in every single duchy in your realm by 1300, you are doing something very wrong
Seriously, play this game for longer than 5 minutes

                Anonymous

The prosperity even has MTA of 65 years, though it could be reduced a bit. But not enough to fill an entire wilderness barony in 50 years. Higher prosperity would lead to diseases too.
Great Works are on the Province level, not Duchy. Do you even know what you’re talking about? You seem to be confusing them with the duchy buildings from CK3.

                and
                >Great Works are on the Province level, not Duchy

It isn’t but the implication is rather clear. It is nonsense to phrase it in such a way unless they were thinking of the duchy buildings from CK3.

Why would someone specify duchies in particular? That is a dumb way to build your Great Works unless you are goading the AI to do it for you, a generally terrible idea. Such a particular and stupid statement like that allows anyone with have a brain to understand why the poster was making such a mistake. They just don’t know much about CK2 and are bad at playing it.

Literally everything that isn't pre-defined trade routes can be build everywhere, including new holding slots.Which is why it doesn't matter what holding you take.

The time and money it takes to build something yourself is an investment in and of itself. Something already good in 1000 is better than something that could be good in 1300.
And you are also overlooking Holy Sites again. Unless you play in infinite range, things like how close you are to China can be worth considering too.

It took CA 10+ years from Empire and Rome 2 before the fan outrage. People still consumed the slop over 10 years.

It takes time for people to realize the pot is boiling.

CK3 is already rpg sims gamey nonsense. It was made like this specifically for the redditors that want to roleplay as fricking their sisters/mothers/animals. God forbid they add a mechanic where there is some kind of pushback against your desires.
