Can someone explain to me why people are still playing on consoles despite the absolute and undisputed superiority of PC gaming?

Do people hate 60fps, high resolutions, mods, ect...?

they don't know what a computer is, they grew up on phones
they can barely interact with a console without having the compulsion to walk up to the tv and touch it
the only thing stopping them is their vegetative state where they are the laziest mammals around

Alright, moron. Let me explain basic shit to you. Consoles are simply casual and people are more familiar with it. It’s plug and play and many people grew up playing a console.

I just like consoles more, simple as. The experience is nicer. I like hanging out with bros for midnight launches, I like collecting trophies/achievements, I like the integrated chat and party functions each console comes with, I like the different UI flavors the companies come up with, I like being able to pick up a controller and jump into a game within seconds. It’s really that simple. Some people like Ford, some people like Chevy. Some people like iOS, some people like Android. Some people like Metallica, some people like Megadeth. Some people like the Lakers, some people like the Celtics. Preference…it’s crazy, eh?

You can do all of this on PC though. What’s the real main reason why you prefer console? be honest

Physical releases, PC hasn't bothered to have a proper one in a decade while even Switch can still get a decent supply of fully-playable no download required games

      >fully-playable no download required
Virtually all switch games have a minimum firmware requirement, and plenty of them need a day one patch to not be buggy as shit, modern disc/cartridge game releases are worthless.

Skill issue, I almost never update my cartridges and they work fine. Rare case early releases are fricked I either hunt for the most optimal cartridge variant or don't get the game

          >almost never update
Do you know what it means to 'almost win'? It means you fricking lost. So you DID have to update and therefore invalidated your defense of physical copies.

Can't excuse it, it's undeniably shitty when it happens. Never bought anything like those stupid "download required" games like the LA noire "remaster" but some stuff like Smash Ult got DLC, Mario maker 2 getting feature updates or Xenoblade 2 was rushed as hell. Still, got a shitload of switch games that haven't needed any updates for me including but not limited to
            >Mario Odyssey (midnight launch 1.0.0 copy, just never bothered to update lol)
            >Breath of the Wild (got a nip version that has the DLC on cart)
            >Cadence of Hyrule
            >Shovel Knight Treasure Trove
            >Death Road to Canada
            >Mad Rat Dead
            >Yoku's Island express
            >Bayonetta 1 and 2, haven't picked up 3 yet
            >Xenoblade DE, Torna, and 3 all worked no problems without updating
            >Both Mario Parties
            >Hollow Knight
            >Ori collection
            >Umihara Kawase fresh
            >Like a dozen Limited Run games

The biggest reason is likely the large upfront cost to pay for a PC, monitor, M&K, and sometimes a desk. However, there are ways to save money for a setup.

I have a friend who built a budget PC that my friends picked out the parts. Broke a motherboard and CPU, went over budget for replacements, he could've gotten a decent build with the total amount of money he spent. I assumed he didn't watch the tutorial step by step on another device while building.

regardless of having a pc for gaming or not, how can you not have these things? i dont even have a TV and i have these things. how do you pay bills? where do you store and sort things? how do you browse the internet? how do you learn new things? how do you find a job?

I'm an idort and not a single platform peasant like most PC users are, lemme list you some pros of consoles and cons of PCs

          console pros:
          >convenience
          >physical media
          >MUCH better value
a proper GPU alone costs 500 bucks, the whole console with a controller and cables cost that much
          >only one architecture, games are optimised for it
          >press home button on the controller -> TV turns on by itself -> boot up game

          PC cons:
          >much more prone to crashes
          >errors much more common
          >have to fix shit sometimes like drivers
          >might run like shit because they didn't give a frick about the PC port
          >needs a dedicated place and a lot of space

just to name a few, the space is especially important
when you move in to a new place you usually plan to have a nice TV somewhere, doesn't matter if you're into games or not

some people just do everything with their phones
also laptops exist, many just buy a cheap laptop to do shit like this

            >some people just do everything with their phones
you can't really do these things on a phone in the same capacity as a personal computer. a PC is perhaps the most powerful tool the average human has ever had access to in all of history. you can get a shit PC for the same price as a console and play last gen games, then spend the same amount of money to upgrade it next gen and bring it in line with current consoles of that time period, then the sky is the limit. delayed gratification is the foundation of civilization, you need to be able to do this to improve your situation in life.

you really can do these things nowadays on a phone
but people that only use their phones won't do shit in excel or write some big paragraphs in word, it's more convenient on PC but you can still do it on your phone, they're just portable mini computers with a different OS

life and society has changed, even if you apply for jobs you can just register on a job site, fill out some templates and be done with it

Cheaper upfront cost and it's easier for them to understand. All they do is download game and it just werks.
Having to do any sort of troubleshooting is too much for them. Even on this site I have read people saying emulation is too difficult for them. I don't know how but those are the types that would prefer consoles.

      Anonymous

depends on the type of emulation
why would I waste time and effort to get a switch game running when I could just... boot up my switch instead
I'd rather buy the console, hack it and play games natively, in most cases it's the best experience because emulation is inferior in most cases

troubleshooting is a big part, if you have a job and work you just want to relax and play your game afterwards, you don't want to troubleshoot shit after a tough day

        Anonymous

That's the thing. There's no time or effort. You download game, put it into your emulation folder, and run it.
And there's barely any troubleshooting. And if there is, 99% of the time people already found out an easy fix. People are just entirely too intimidated by computers

          Anonymous

it depends on what you emulate
here's an average example of switch emulation
          >download game
          >try it out on ryujinx
          >crashes after start up screen
          >try out yuzu
          >works
          >annoying stutter as shadercache builds up
          >no shadercache available because it's not mario or zelda
          just play it natively
emulation is great for other reasons, mainly for preservation of old games and being able to play them forever, even if the original consoles will all shit the bed
best example is the original xbox, they're dying like flies right now due to an exploding capacitor
but xbox emulation currently is... not good
