No it didn't, but even if it did I already played enough good "classic" style 2D sonic games and Mania already serves as a fine book end, I can't keep playing the same game forever. I don't understand how they are so braindead in being able to move the franchise forward, how hard is it to just make a platformer, they can tackle it from so many different angles. Sonic team is creatively bankrupt
>Sega gives ZERO fricks about Sonic
Sure. But if they did, Penny's Big Breakaway could have been a Sonic game. And a Sonic game that could be good and eye catching enough to really boost their business.
Sega already returned to console making with the 2 Genesis Minis, the 5 GG minis, & 2 Astro City Minis. The already stated that once prices come down, Saturn Mini is a lock.
I do not believe it is time for Sega to rejoin the console market. The big three have completely solidified their positions and it'd be a Herculean task to add a fourth console to the mix that wasn't a failure. Sega's console would be lacking, especially in the games, and far too big of a risk compared to just making games for pre-existing consoles.
Xbox is a failure. Now is as good a time as ever to take their spot before sony can further solidify themselves as the default console. If they wait for microsoft to give up on the xbox first it likely would be too late then. Now or never really.
If I were sega I wouldn't try to compete. I'd lean into what works. Like sonic. If they want money make a bunch of sonic shit like plug n plays to get autistic collectors and scalpers to buy them up. Stuff like the Game & watch from nintendo was only bought by those types and it probably make millions it wouldn't even cost that much because china already has a bunch of generic boards that already emulate games you could just get custom firmware written for and a new shell designed for it.
probably why they put so little effort into their games
if you're not raking in the big console bux, you gotta be more conservative in your game budgets
but personally I think you could give sega and/or sonic team an infinite budget and they would still not be able to produce a quality game
if I post an image alongside my post people are more likely to read it. I'm drunk. You are a sheep
Kiss me baby
Unless someone at Sega has a billion dollar idea in the same way whoever it was that thought of creating a handheld or even something like the Switch that bridges the gap between the handheld and home console, then no. I doubt they have the manpower to outdo Sony or Xbox for power or Nintendo for gimmicks.
Plus in terms of gaming catalog they aren't that impressive. They have undeniable classic and icons that even normalgays will recognize but most of these are arcade titles that often struggle to find an audience on consoles.
In some alternate universe, Sega would've partnered/been bought by Microsoft and they'd handle their gaming division.
Total war
Persona
You say arcade games are bad, but good ones can easily sell at least few millions(like last donkey kong game), and Sega has a lot of them, just need some effort to make it fun enough and marketing to bait people into buying Ecco the dolphin or golden sun
But I can only see them attempting portable switch like, not real home console
I'm not saying arcade games are bad, just that the audience for them is usually smaller on consoles. I imagine for the mass market they're more like a novelty of a bygone era. I know they've tried to evolve some of those properties into console games but I can't think of one that actually worked.
I don’t believe Sega would have the funds anymore to produce a line of calculators, let alone a new console.
sony already survives with no games
Dreamcast era was the last time video games were good.
Sega leaving the market was a catastrophic harbinger.
Their philosophy these days is "release 1 game every 4 years and hope it sells 25 trillion copies".
Unfortunately it's working.
>Unfortunately it's working.
It worked when they had massive third party support, but this days most of them moved to switch or went multiplat
Sega can't even make a good Sonic game anymore, how the frick would they be able to make a good console?
does anyone else think this pup looks kinda like simpleflips
it looks more like Andrew Jackson to me
follow the money sheeple
Sonic game from direct looked good
I feel like I'm being gaslit by this, people keep saying it looked good but to me it looked like soulless plastic garbage
frick off robert
>but to me it looked like [buzzword]
Try again
I did not like the look of the level design shown in the trailer. Oshima may have lost his touch

sega is too moronic to join the console market, they'd immediately fall again
that being said, id prefer them over sony

if the activision deal fails, xbox should buy sega because i want to see sonic die in my lifetime

>CBR
sega are near bankrupt
Why would you want yet another console
good, they can go bankrupt for good this time.
no one left to bail them out.
I'm sure Sony can't live without such amazing Sega IP's like
Hong Kong walking simulator
Hamster Ball
Dating Sim where all the girls died offscreen
A fantasy MMO about the far off future of 2028
That's half the PS5 library gone
what kind of fricking morons is CBR employing?
Bruh ppl who say this don't live in reality.
Sega has said many times that they will NEVER make another console again.
probably why they put so little effort into their games
