>whah, it is not an RPG
>no Final Fantasy games are, you have literally no input on how the story will play out in any of the titles and how the ending will be
Now that the dust has settled, here is what FF16 did good and bad.
The good:
>going back to medieval fantasy was a fantastic idea
>music is awesome
>inspiration by God of War, DMC and Bayonetta was great
>the Naruto Tailed Beast Eikons thing was great
>the concept of the world nations fighting over crystals is great
>'whoever controls the crystals, controls the world' Dune angle is great
>action is fun, Clive is a good inspiring protagonist
The bad:
>bear*rs deserve everything they get
>Ultima subverting a story that was Game of Thrones into generic fight le god to save the Earth final fantasy bullcrap
>mother crystals vanishing ruins the aesthetics
>then again, the story being centered around bear*rs is trash because they are the least interesting thing about the world and they trash everywhere they go
>story assets clearly flipped around (Kanver clearly meant to be Oriflamme), development hell is apparent everywhere but final product turned out good
>a far better villain would have been Sylvester and Anabella
>most of the lore still unexplored, never clarified who goddess Greagor actually was
If it weren't for the mark*d destroying everything then complaining they are genocided, this game would have been perfect.
>UGH it's just a Game of Thrones ripoff!!
>UGH it's not just a Game of Thrones ripoff??
I disagree.
I didn't like it because very obviously the core components of the game weren't strong enough to carry side content and the side content went woefully underdeveloped.
No proper dungeons either, which really ties into the core of the game being too weak to sustain the desired 40+ hours of runtime.
I don't think any final fantasy games are good.
Possibly an alright game, but not a final fantasy, or a jrpg for that matter. It’s an action game.
I want to play as Jill
I haven't been immersed in a Final Fantasy world like this since maybe FF12.
XIII didn't even feel like a world. It was just scenery porn.
and XV? The world building was there, just not in one game. It was fragments across a film, anime, dlc, and novelizations.
Not that I hate those things. I wish other Final Fantasy games had DLC and Novels. But when you look at JUST the game. It's incomplete.
FF16 was good. Could have been better. I'm still holding my breath for more DLC. Dion deserves more.
I don't think they're even working on FF17 yet.
It's not a great game, the story is fine and the music is nice but it's a disappointment in every other aspect.
It's a bare bones action game with little playstyle variety, the game is insultingly linear and there is zero exploration; People absolutely hated XIII when it came out for hallway shit, 10 years later an extremely linear movie game like this comes out and nobody bats an eye
I'm few hours in and I don't even know if I would put it in good or bad territory. But probably bad because its not even RPG anymore. Anyway, dialogues are not total cringe and that alone is big improvement to the series because since 13 it was cringe all the way.
I don't know why people say that. It's not that different from Stranger of Paradise, or even Lightning Returns - which was over a decade ago.
I think people need to put their PS2 in storage and get with the times.
>It's not that different from Stranger of Paradise, or even Lightning Returns
Sure, youre probably right, never played these two because both looked like an absolute garbage.
...and FF15.
...and Dissidia.
...and Remake/ Rebirth
Yes. When Clive uses Leviathan's Eikonic Feat...guess what, it's a gun arm. You're playing as Barret.
Toggling between ability sets is virtually no different from toggling between party members in any other game.
Devil May Cry wearing FF's skin is not an RPG.
Ok. So Final Fantasy wearing DMC's skin is not an Action game.
Not like you've played either.
The bad is only terrible story points that matter only for storygamers. Why did I expect anything else?
The game Is literally a terrible RPG, one in which the only RPG feature are big numbers going up. It even has cinematic Boss fights that are only there to visually impress the braindead player.
Its not a good final fantasy, nor a good RPG. It might be a competent story-centered action game that you play once and never again.
>N-No U
Boo hoo. DMC wearing FF's skin isn't an RPG.
I'll make a DMC thread on /vrpg/ so you can pretend someone out there actually think of DMC as an RPG.
