Only if you're invading in the RL 75-100 range. Low level is 100% ganks, high level is 100% ganks. Most normalgay co-op players are on the seamless mod which doesn't have invasions, which is why nobody invades on PC in the first place. And the game is 2 years old so online is dead on all platforms.

I played a lot of DS2 but it sort of feels like a different type of game all together. Lots of stunlock bullshit, oneshotting spells, overpowered buffs, janky movement, insane repost window where you have time to swap out your entire build before landing the blow. DS3 is a lot more refined aside for the exploits like estus canceling, it's a better experience overall.
the repost window after a dark souls 2 parry is kino. the humiliation is extended when you can stare down your opponent for a few seconds before inflicting max damage.
dark souls 3 is fine, but is has too many homosexual edges to it. i also miss the one handed large club moveset from dark souls 2, which was absolutely perfect.

Twinkgayging is an issue but there is no good way to counter it.
Invadergays will perform all sorts of mental gymnastics to make you believe otherwise, but they don't actually care about PvP. They don't want an even fight against someone who actually knows how to deal with invaders. All they want is to take their minmaxed anti-player build, kitted out with endgame gear and deliberately kept at low levels, into some random PvE baby's world and get an easy kill. That's all it is and all it's ever been.
If invadergays cared about PvP, shit like the seamless mod wouldn't even be a blip on their radar, because all it does is take people who don't care about PvP anyway out of the pool. They'd just stick to the designated duel areas, or use the arenas. But they don't, because they don't want actual competition. They're terrified of facing someone who isn't wearing a randomly assorted hodgepodge of whatever gear they found and utterly unprepared for their tuned ganking build.

Honestly I think invasion is mostly limited by the lack of payoff. There is no real reason to interact with the invasion system in this game.
It's just fighting another player for the sake of it. Covenants were always a half baked system for rewarding players for engaging with it.
