Can we all agree how BAD breeding is this gen?

The ONLY benefit this gen is being able to access PC anywhere, but for how much time you lose on the rest of the progress it's far worse
I do not understand why people claim breeding in gen 9 is better? Even if you're IV breeding or shiny hunting, it's awful
i have never bred or hatched a single egg (except the one in crystal) in my 23 years of playing these games, somehow dont feel like ive missed anything

With the new egg move mechanic, bottle caps, ability patches, and nature mints, isn't the only reason you need to breed for small ivs and baby-mons? This mechanic would be indefensible in gen 5 or below, but with all you can do now, is it a big deal that it's shit? (haven't played the switch games so idk)
Yeah you can buy IV bottlecaps and nature mints. You can't buy HA ability patches though, these are rare drops from 6*+ raids. Though many people duped tons of them early on.
Overall it's kinda expensive and is about 1mil per mon, even doing a little IV/nature breeding means you can save a lot of money. Just bottlecap the last 1-2 IVs you were missing instead of all 5-6+nature+ability. Having egg moves/ivs/natures bred on means you can trade extras to people to get theirs, instead of having to start from scratch again spending another 1mil on a new mon
It's definitely a good thing to have these options if you don't wanna breed, but they've just cucked breeding in general so it's not even a good side-option anymore. It's just beyond tedious now with the picnic garbage

3 minutes is a long time and you're setting up the picnic anyway. Besides ingredients aren't expensive. You can easily stock up for cheap
The sandwich making and cutscene takes a good while for whatever reason
30 eggs afking for 30 minutes is garbage, unless you're actively button mashing to avoid it capping. If you're playing like that then I'd rather just run up/down a route and get over double the egg efficiency without needing a picnic set up or food before

Anon what generations do you consider superior, gen 9 has a lot of faults and breeding/training would benefit from some obvious QoL fixes but it's genuinely simpler and faster than any other generation I can think of.

Breeding has always sucked ass. Did you enjoy pushing up and down on the d-pad ad infinitum just to pass a move onto some shitmon? What could have been a cute role playing feature has been reduced to an autistic chore for better stats.

If you are using a destiny knot and everstones only the pokemon holding those items can generate eggs

The rest of your points are correct though. One thing I do like is that you can "queue" up up to ten eggs at once so you can generate the eggs passively while doing something else
Gen 9 breeding is better than past gens. They could have improved it a bit with the DLC but I would rather this system than wearing down my controller running circles to get eggs to spawn.
