If you want actual, viable results, you need to impact their wallet. With Skullgirls I don't think that's particularly possible, because of just how few people actually play and buy the game in 2023.

The fact that the story about this 1 timeout animation exists at all is more of admitting that their workflow still had human error in it because implementing checks at so many more stages in the animation process would've simply been too time consuming. They could've never let this story and this animation ever see the light of day

Lab Zero did not exist when Skullgirls was first picked up, the studio who hired Mike and Alex was called Reverge Labs. Lab Zero was formed in November 2012 after the lawsuit was filed in May when Autumn had to lay off the entire Reverge Labs team to cover legal costs.

This might be the single greatest frickup from this whole fiasco.
Imagine being in Alex's shoes working on this game from square one and coming up with all the characters, lore, etc and then being evicted off it and losing the project YOU created.
Not owning your own IP as a indie dev is a huge red flag.
Not only one IP, but TWO IPs, and whatever else they had cooking under the radar, all gone, no ownership of nothing. I can't even imagine how bad of an idea that was.
Exactly, it's one thing if the publisher has a revenue stake, but Autumn games owning the Skullgirls IP means that Mike and Alex were powerless when they were both outed from the company.
This leaves out some minor details like why they had a problem with Konami and the other tiny things that caused the term "The Skullgirls Curse" to be created but other than that this is a really great timeline of events to describe what's going on. Should be reposted in future threads.
