I once got kicked out of a guild because the GM thought I was lying during a conversation about Crusader Kings 2 when I mentioned how I liked playing as a Venetian noble because "republics are unplayable and if you're lying about this then you're lying about other things." But if I had to do some brainstorming: best direction to salvage it in its current state would be to first make all the gameplay free-to-play with some extra things requiring the subscription fee, this would attract a larger userbase which would in turn make everything feel more lively. Then rebuild PvP/rated from the ground up. Random BG system is pointless because of the reward structure of the game. Arenas are infinitely gay and the rated BG system is obnoxious as hell. Imagine every time you wanted to play ranked League you had to get a whole group in order to queue, not to mention the abysmal matchmaking when you actually can queue. It's insanity. What should be the most fun part of the game is instead gated behind immense frustration. This is an example of game design that creates artificial barriers to play which makes the player's experience worse overall. Similar problems exist in other areas of the game.

I saved it by playing solo in a private server devoid of players. I may have autism, but grinding alone in MMOs is fun AND engaging.
