Pajeet is a name in india I think, but it comes from that one meme of the little indian man saying "pajeet my son, will you pick..."

So, instead of calling them poo in loo, people refer to Indians by one of their names? That's not racist at all.

Pajeet has such insane reach that even indians call other indians pajeet at this point.

It's not an actual name, but -jeet could be used on the end of some names. It also sounds like other more common name enders like -deep or -preet.
It's just supposed to sound like a stereotypical Indian name, like how people call Chinese "Zhang" or blacks "Tyrone", both of which are a real surname and first name respectively, it's just meant to sound stereotypical.

Idk if there's a way to uncouple odyssey+ from wmr software, but the software on my Quest 2 is glorious in comparison, so much that I'll probably never go back to my odyssey+. Being able to peek out of boundary to enable passthrough is so fricking cool it's unreal. It lets me drink beer while gaming. Also, I have my areas saved so if I'm playing downstairs and my wife calls me up to the room I just walk out of my living room area, see my surroundings via passthrough, walk upstairs, then the game recognizes my room space and I keep playing while shooting the shit with her about dinner or whatever. It's so so good and I can only imagine the Quest 3 must be even better

I don't care if you're an early adopter. If you're not playing AAA games in VR with a 4090 then you haven't experienced true VR. It feels fricking crazy to go robbing a train with Dutch in RDR2, to walking around Night City in Cyberpunk, to looking up Tifa's skirt in FF7. I've seen and experienced things that would be impossible in reality. It's impossible to appreciate the sheer size and beauty of a game through a flat monitor.

Anonymous

I'm in the same situation. If you buy a dedicated router then all of your issues are solved. Pic related is what I have, and I get 400mbps streaming, which completely eliminates compression artifacts.

Anonymous

So let me get this straight, your PC gets it's Internet wirelessly, then you plug a router in to it and it somehow makes the connection to Quest 2 stronger? If you aren't familiar with the mechanics please just answer the former because if it works I'll do it, but I'd think more jumps so to speak between Internet input and Internet output would only serve to degrade the signal, is that right, if you know? Assuming it just works though, what router did you buy, id love to just easily grab something cheap off Amazon based off a recommendation.

>I'd think more jumps so to speak between Internet input and Internet output would only serve to degrade the signal
Pretty sure plugging a router into your PC would mean there's less jumps.

Anonymous

But the source is the initial router. Right? That's what's getting the Ethernet. So it wirelessly sends that signal to another device receiving, which is then just sending another wireless signal from its connected via wire device. How wouldn't that be more steps/ signal transmissions?

Anonymous

It's a local network. Your headset connects to your pc trough the extra router that is closer and pc connects to the internet trough your modem that is further away. Might need some setup that I can't help you with.

Anonymous

It's better to think of internet and wifi as two different things. Wifi is what helps connect two devices, but instead of a wire it uses radio waves. A router helps pass on those radio waves. You don't need internet at all to connect your PC to your Quest through wifi. The dedicated router (connected directly to your PC), will create its own wifi channel and pass on data to your Quest. You can also see this with using your phone as a hotspot, or connecting to something with bluetooth.

I think the best budget dedicated router is a WAX202

I love VR, it convinced me to start developing games, the untapped potential is huge, the main reason devs don't make VR is that it's overwhelming, it's basically 3 characters at the same time that share a common space and are constantly moving, each hand has to have several functionalities and everything can be seen up close, needing more detail on the models.

Anonymous

A lot of VR devs are on it because it's a niche market and it lets them crap out really shitty games that would never get seen on flat.
It's like at no point in developement they asked themselves "Is this fun? Is this challenging?"
Nah, just do roguelite pixelshit with super slow enemy but oh boy look we have 50 accessibility features so people don't throw up!!
Arizona Sunshine 2 is a 60$ title, last 4 hrs at best and is extremely insulting to anyone's intelligence.

I don't blame them, it is hard as balls and at some point you just want a reward for the countless hours of work just to end up looking barebones, see Alyx, it's the most advanced Valve game to date, I can't even begin to conceptualize the entire thing, there's too much packed in it, each finger can interact with all objects, each finger can be controller individually, each part of the hand has a collider, objects thrown follow a proper trajectory and collide with the world, can pinch, grab, pose and interact with the player.
And that's just the main function of the hands.

Anonymous

Alyx is dogshit, try Boneworks, that's the true killer app for VR. Even after the bullshit that was and is bonelabs, I hold out hope SLZ will wow us.

Here's what I want from a VR game
>Multiplayer
>Objects in world are all interactive, even walls and shit, no clipping of hands and guns, Boneworks gets this very right
>Full body simulation, not just hands
>Have a game like Boneworks with much better melee, something that can match b&s, with a focus on hand to hand too. I want to break bottles over people's heads, puch guys in the dick, grab people by the neck and drown them in water

Bonelabs was them spending their whole budget redoing the engine. Which is important work, don't get me wrong. They released with it some half baked levels and challenge levels via a hub that are pretty boring. They then promised they'd give us updates and released like one. They promised more sdk support for modders, never came, promised 2 years support (were like 2 months from that date now with nothing) just really burned people. I actually had a decent amount of fun with the game, there's some really cool shit in the new engine like character switching on the fly and how the different size and weight of your character impacts your interactions with the world. But then I go to the mod download tab on my Quest 2 and it's literally not searchable or filterable. There's like 2000 pages of 5 at a time mods that makes finding anything new or good impossible. Lots of moronic decisions encircling some good ones

It's ok, it's not really a story, it's more like a bunch of strung together proof of concept levels, but some are fun, some are very technically impressive too

That'd take a lot of time and use systems that haven't been invented yet, no clipping is a pipe dream, until AI can handle engines internally, that'd be impossible.
Full body simulation could be achieved but the standard is 2 Hands + HMD so it would be extremely niche.
Melee would be another neigh impossible task, inverse kinematics can't keep up, you'd need a pose library and a pose reader to manage that, also an enemy AI that can react accordingly.
We might get there someday, but most of what you ask is too advanced for now.

I'm absolutely obsessed with VR and use my quest daily. I've owned PC VR, psvr1, gearvr, but no wires is too good to pass up and my Internet is shit so streaming isn't entirely viable so here I am with quest playing stand alone games having a blast. My favorite games are

The quest 2 has a really beefy chip, I was blown away by it when I bought mine six months ago. What do you stream from the deck to it? I would think the decks chip is potentially weaker or at least close enough that if there's a standalone version of the same game the standalone would be superior by virtue of not needing to stream. Genuinely curious, not bashing, just want to understand what your use case is and how well it performs because I have a deck

I make mods and it's faster to see them in VR, could be out making some 3D models, just pull out my phone, the HMD and see the model in game, I don't really need the performance as I just visualize it, but I tried several games and most run at 1060 levels.

Is the display clear and the headset firm and not putting pressure on your head? If you wear glasses then you should wear them while playing too.
Motion sickness is like one of those monsters from horror movies: if you keep your attention on it then it won't approach, but if you look away for a second it sneaks up on you. That is, staying focused on your movements and how they may trigger your nausea will help you keep it at bay. Good luck.

vr is in a situation where no one develops full games because there's not enough people with headsets, and people aren't buying headsets because there's not enough full games. if zuckerschmuck was smart he'd had developed some basic fricking VR injector for unreal engine and unity games just to open up a massive library of flat to VR games for free instead of going all in on the metaverse as if the future is going to be people putting on a cumbersome headset just to do facetime and meetings with mii avatars.

my quest 2 is never used since they fricked it in a update
it wont connect wirelessly to my computer anymore and support is demanding i do shit like regedit remove all trace of the oculus software, start the computer in safemode with the ethernet cord disconnected and who the frick knows what other eldritch rituals
and these were the cucks that pushed for console exclusivity on this shit

It's wireless only. There's also virtual desktop that's better but it's 20$.
Only worth it if you go full autism with VR like me

You get more choices over changing your encoding codecs and the streaming resolution is waaay higher, like 2x higher.
Steam Link is nice because it just works and it passes off as a native SteamVR headset so you can change refreshrate and resolution on the fly in games but it has too many limitation. Oh there's a fully functional desktop.

Vrgen is vrchat cringe shit. Disgusting thread every time I've checked in there. People who use vrchat should unironically be gassed.

imagine buying VR shit for anything except VR porn lmao. imagine thinking this shit will ever take hold in the video game industry

I've owned a gearvr (phone), psvr, odyssey+ and now a quest 2 and I've used them all for gaming and have had and am having a blast. If you can't see the appeal it's because you're a fat loser afraid of standing and moving while gaming

The thread on /vg/ is run by /trash/ unironically, supported by the janny who is also from there, so it's basically discord cliques' gay circlejerk.
The proper thread is on a different board.

Not from what I've seen, you can craft gloves pretty quickly and you'll never have to look at those Black person hands again but you're still a Black person.

Monkeys have hands too, not paws. Calling them paws is biologically incorrect.

The only thing I wanted in VR was to see realistic 1:1 dinosaurs, to get a real idea of their size. That's it.
Playing video games in VR is totally stupid, unless it's for a very specific use, like an ultra-realistic simulator.

I had some fun with beat saber, definitely, but the lack of weight kills almost everything else for me. I know it's probably impossible to simulate that feedback, but swinging a whiffle bat around at enemies in any game with melee in it and watching them either not react, bonk away, or get sliced like butter is briefly funny but not particularly satisfying.

games with gunplay and magic seem to be the most fun
it's also fun to throw stuff

Hopefully we'll get more controller attachments that remedy this. I honestly don't mind the lack of weight in sword games, but I bet swinging a club or something with the controller mounted at the end would be more fun. Probably tough to do when the games often feature varying weapons of varying lengths. I love using my golf club attachment in golf+, and I contemplate buying one of the ping pong attachments for eleven

it's fun but i like it more as an exercise tool than a replacement for regular gaming, it being physically demanding is at odds with how lots of people play most games (ie. to unwind). even just for that though that's a better value and way more compelling than most exercise equipment

Bought first headset far in rift CV1 times, loving it ever since. If you really, truly hate all of the fun VR-native titles like alyx or into the radius, go play some racing sims or something like project wingman if you hate cars
or both
, every game that revolves around sitting in wienerpit gets thousand times better in VR
