yea, it's how i'm playing it. you don't get the input lag fix, ng+ and some other mild changes though. so far it's enjoyable to play without that though

My PS5 isn't even online and it installs and plays without issue.
You can be online and still cancel incoming patches and just disable in the options the automatic downloads in rest mode so you dont get a nasty surprise next day.

Yesterday I was playing 1.0 just fine by downloading the game while the PS5 is not connected to the internet. Today people are saying that Sony might have done something to that. As putting the disc in while the ps5 is offline, it's supposedly getting stuck on copying the data from the disc. So I'll have to check myself later on today if that's true
No. As long as you're not connected to the internet when you play, it can not update the game. Just don't be connected to the internet when you play, otherwise it will force the download if you launch the game while connected.

If you NEVER connect to the internet/PSN you can play on disc unpatched.. but if you DO go online the update will start automatically, and even if you cancel the fricking update within seconds.. the game will NOT run without the patch.
Basically at that point you need to uninstall the game, then reinstall the game and stay off the net for it to work on ver 1.0
