the earliest game I remember buying with my own money was Illusion of Gaia for the SNES back in 1994 at a Best Buy. Back then it was either BB or Toys R Us for vidya, later on it was KB Toys, then Electronics Boutique -> EB Games, and finally Gamestop, but vidya was old hate to me by then.

i still remember the game aisle at TRU just being pictures of the boxes, with paper tickets you took to the front counter so they could remove the game from the "expensive electronics" lockroom.

and other "merch" yea. they have like one shelf dedicated to a handful of new full price games and one or two used games for 90% MSRP that understandably never sell. gamestop used to be so good back when they only sold games and had a massive library of fairly priced used games, it was like a treasure hunt to find good used stuff CIB. thankfully there's still a great mom and pop shop that fills that niche in my town.

That I personally bought? Probably Twilight Princess or something. But I do recall as a child going to EBGames at least twice and my parents getting me Mario Kart 64, Banjo-Kazooie and Ocarina of Time that way.

I always would play split screen games with my Lil brother and we loved Lego Star Wars. So naturally when we heard that Lego Star Wars 2 had all the movies on top of kickass Lego character customization, we were fricking sold. Apparently 8 times... we never could get a PS2 copy of the game to run on our console... my mom was too cheap and anti games to buy us the Disc new either. I ended up personally dealing with customer service reps for hours since my mom wouldn't so I could get it swapped for another (broken) Disc. Good times. I miss my brother.

Why would a woman willingly work at a dying toy store where 50 obese manchildren walk in every day and awkward hit on them? They could just as easily be a stay at home mom or get diversity hired at some tech startup?

my local store has a cute girl working there. I always ask her to get something down for me from up high so i can stare at her nice round ass when she climbs up the ladder...

There was a cute emo girl working at gamestop I don't frequently visit. Then one day I saw this big box sitting behind the shelf and bought it just to see her reaction. I recall her saying "wow the girls look cute in this game. It's an RPG right? Let me know if it's any good". I was disappointed. I wanted her to call me a disgusting human being.

The last time I bought something from Gamestop was a 3DS game called Stella Glow. It too was a game that came in a box that had half naked anime girls on the back. This time it was a blue hair land whale at the register and she called me a "pedo". The manager overheard that and sent her to the back while apologizing to me and gave me a discount.

my local gamestop had nerds and fat girls working there for awhile, then they built a new bus stop in the strip mall it was located and suddenly it was only black people working there. that lasted for like a year before it closed altogether because everyone else stopped shopping in that strip mall due to the gang shootings.

I don't even remember the first time I visited a GameStop. Before them there were tons of mom 'n' pop game stores and a few smaller chains. My go-to here in Florida was Rhino Games, they always had Japanese import games and a bunch of anime figures and shit as well, great place.

not the first game but I do have a crystal clear memory of beating almost the entirety of sonic's campaign in sonic adventure (including final boss) at the e.b. games setup when the Dreamcast first came out
I was probably like 12 or something
I also beat all of the original pokemon snap at a toys r us kiosk

these should have probably been red flags to my parents that I have some kind of autism

    Not really.
I remember going to funcoland and buying what few snes games they had as they were clearly moving away from them into ps1/n64/dreamcast, I bought my PS2 and Red Faction at Electronic Boutique. All I can remember from my early game stop days is SNES and Genesis games I bought
    >Megaman X
    >Cybernator
    >Final Fight 2
    >Streets of Rage 1 and 2
    >Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3 and Ultimate 3
    >Fatal Fury 1 and 2
    Can't really remember much else.
Before the dedicated game stores I bought all my video games at Toys R Us, Target, Best Buy, or sometimes K-Mart (Bought Donkey Kong Country there and Timesplitters 2)
