Kickstarter shit is non-canon and never has any actual impact in the games it shows up in.
Except, somehow, Baz and Reize in shovel knight, which proves how rare it is to see an exception.
This game ended up pissing me off so much. I took a break after getting right up to the final dungeon and every time I boot it up to push through I just stop.
Everything other than the art is somewhere from average to bad.
Actually, to extend this a bit more.
The background design and the monster design is very well, the animations in particular stand out. I also think the world itself is pretty good and is a good setting.
The story is a pretty weird pastiche of Chrono Trigger plot points, and the characterization is so bad that it made me like the story less. Galf in particular is this pretty impressive example of a kind of worthless character, as written, but every other character keeps talking about great they are. Which just highlights how bad the characterization is.
The art design of human characters is also kind of bad by and large. It's weird. They're not good at people. The monsters and non-human npcs are pretty good though.

The Messenger dev expanded his studio and invariably was coaxed by some partner to hire a "diverse" writer. The game is, to its credit, not overly political. However, the characters were clearly written from the perspective of >"believable" millennial

The writing was pretty cringe but I'm still glad they never went full moron and pulled a Chained Cuckolds.
The only character is Garl. I forgot eveeoyne else's name. The two leads have absolutely no personality or chemistry at all. They may as well be silent protagonists.
I agree. The game was also rushed in some parts but overall I had fun. I wish the puzzles were harder though, not just in the optional areas, maybe not Cross Code hard but at least Golden Sun hard.
I tried really hard to like this game. After 10 hours I couldn't stand it anymore. Awful characters, story, gameplay. The combat gets repetitive and boring real fast, it becomes such a chore to get through.
I really don't know where all the praise is coming from.
It looks and sounds nice so people pretend it's good.
It has some good parts, like the art in general, having actual dungeons with puzzles and there's effort put in it, but the combat is a chore and the characters way too bland.
>I really don't know where all the praise is coming from.
>good chiptunes >good pixelart >strangely pleasant diorama level design >dungeons with actual level design vs 90% of JRPGs that don't even try
It's not perfect, and clearly some diversity hire wrote most of the dialogue, but it has some positive qualities, at least superficially and in theory.
he's mistaking it for chained echoes which reveals the main protag got cheated on in a former life, so as everyone remembers their past lives he goes schizo and murders the party member who was the bull in said previous era.
>sea of stACKs
Guess that's to be expected from canadians

Not about hign school kids. It's good but still not as good as the classics.
It's as good as the classics so long as you're willing to admit how flawed they are.
Chrono Trigger, FF6, Vagrant Story, etc., aren't perfect.
Except Sea of Stars is insanely flawed when compared to even other indie RPGs that came out this year. Game's ass.

Naw dude the writing is shit compared to those games. It's good but feels extremely amateurish when Garl or the pirates take screen.
Is it even better than Octopath II?
No
It has better dungeons, but that's about it.
HEH
It's pretty shit.
The main duo basically don't have a personality.
The world is the main character
homosexual. nothing will ever top chrono trigger, xenogears, ff6/7, or the xenoblade trilogy.
im almost at the end, it's okay but not that great, i expected better from the messenger devs
>story heavy game made by The Messenger devs
No, thank you

Literal shills and people who NEED to pretend they've played Chrono Trigger.

you just described every JARPIG. weebs will hype anything that has anime aesthetics
Lacrimosa of Dana had fun characters and setting at least.
>locking true ending behind the collectibles
Yeah, frick off
I was having a good time until I got to this. Really don't want to spend several hours backtracking to every location for the Rainbow Conches.
Just do ultimate weapon quests for each character and watch ending on youtube.
Conches can frick right off.
shill thread
all who post after this have been shillificated
Game fricking sucked, what are you talking about?
it was alright but theres like 4 abilities wtf
>westoids still desperate to shill this cuckold troonyshit
for what purpose
>cuckold
Huh?
he's mistaking it for chained echoes which reveals the main protag got cheated on in a former life, so as everyone remembers their past lives he goes schizo and murders the party member who was the bull in said previous era.
>rip off superstar saga blatantly
>give it no effort or development, only 4 abilities per character
>combat is bland boring and bad
Shock!
Beat it a few days ago. I'm still shocked how shitty both endings were.
