HOW THE FRICK ARE THEY STILL IN THE BUSINESS?
DoW1 aged like milk and Men of War suck
>DoW1 aged like milk
hard disagree
aside from the vioce work dow always sucked
>Men of War suck
But I like MoW, but I think MoW 2 is going to suck ass.
>The_/vst/igal_virgin_with_no_taste.jpg
Both true, but what does Men of War being shit have to do with Relic?
>Men of War suck
it's men of war sucks, esl, men is plural
It is "sucks" because "Men of War" refers to a singular game, my man.
sega money
Mostly this, they fired the entire "B" team at Relic. Back in my CoH2 days, a person in the "clan" I was part got to visit Relic before they launched the British faction (behind closed doors), the entire second floor of the 3 floor building was the B team and were working on what was to be DOW3.
That team, since post launch of DoW3 ended prematurely, worked on CoH3 primary (noticeable in their UI/Art design, as well as credits) and only post AOE4 launch did the "A" team get people pulled into work on CoH3 hence why its got better post launch and now AOE4 is in a dry spell of content.
Most of the ex-Relic staff have moved over to BlackBird and are working on Homeworld 3 and other stuff, they recently picked up Quinn Duffy (lead game director/designer for coh1/2, AOE4) so IMO they have a new project that is hopefully a coh- competitor but I haven't heard much rumors around BB so you're guess is as good as mine.
>over 4k hours
I kneel.
T. 989hrs
I could never be so autistic as to put 4,000 hours into a single game
They've got two teams, the team behind dow3 & coh3 and the team behind aoe4. I expect them to lay off even more employees and shrink down to one team. They fricked up or lost the rights to all their franchises, so they'Il probably start making strategy games as a service from now on or decrease their scope in some other way.
They really seem to struggle to evolve their games past their previous releases. They must have realized this with coh3 and just decided to release it as an unfinished mess, because it would have taken them way too much time and money to bring it to a reasonable standard that people expect it to be (2 more years at least). Whoever is directing that game must also be fumbling around a lot, considering the many downgrades in menu, graphics and UI in the final release compared to the alpha.
They didn't lose their rights to their IPs. CoH IP still remains with Relic and was even noted during the sale in 2013. The Dawn of War IP is a weird one, GW doesn't fully own the IP IIRC. Relic lost all of their talent and their middle and upper management suck ass.
I'll attach the credits list so you can see just the total B team death at Relic, forget what the colors indicated but still worth looking over.
It seems the list of people they fired is more comprehensive than I thought. I had around 50 people in my mind instead of the 121 when looking it up.
What I meant is that they lost the right to other IPs like Homeworld and 40K Space Marine, so they're stuck with DoW, which they effectively killed and abandoned, and CoH, which is on life support right now. They'Il keep bringing out content for CoH3, of course, but I dunno how viable it is to have a game with a 50% positive review score and a collapsed player count as your mainstay.
I don't think Blackbird will make a CoH competitor, cause they'd be trampling on all that are left working at Relic. They're based in the same city, working on the same genre of games and have a lot of former employees working for them, so I expect them to have decent relations. They would be an excellent candidate for making such a game though.
>What I meant is that they lost the right to other IPs like Homeworld
How? It was always theirs to begin with, no?
It got sold to Gearbox, who is letting Blackbird Interactive use it to develop games.
>CoH3 50% review score
Holy frick lol, I didn't know it crashed and burned so badly! I was a huge coh1 fan. Didn't really take to coh2. Haven't bought coh3 but I knew it was out. Ah well sucks it bombed I suppose -_-
It's really disappointing. 3 has some really good ideas at the core, but it really wasn't finished. Placeholder icons, no replay functionality (still), awful UI, odd balancing ideas and lots of little things missing really let the game down.
A lot of it was stuff they fixed in COH2 already too, so it's strange it fell over.
I (and i assume many others) tried to tell them their ui was shit in the alpha surveys and to try make them more like coh2 and all they ended up doing was making them not mobile game-tier. I still can't believe the state of it and the menus - they would be by far the easiest part to get right I should think
ALIEN BEANS
Make them supper
COH3 is the best COH so far tho
>NOOOO BUT LELIC BAD BECAUSE I SAY SO
I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I just don't buy it.
enjoy your goyslop. I'll go play 2 which is better in every way.
>0 arguments
Nothing more gentile than being unable to defend oneself.
enjoy your goyslop. I'll go play 1 which is better in every way.
Campaign? Sure. 1's multiplayer is dead and bad.
>2
>good
Not even close, bit nice bait
The list of missing features and QOL things for COH3 is extenesive and its not worth my time to type it out for you but clearly CoH3 is a step back in most cases. Even the art, sound, and UI goes to show just how poor/rushed/half baked the product.
Only after they pulled the AOE4 team did coh3 even get a sizable patch that remotely fixed anything, they still cant figure out how to make the AI prefer roads correctly, so much so they turned it off.
So yeah eat your SegaSlop and enjoy the diversity hires, all the talent at Relic is clearly gone.
> Even the art, sound, and UI goes to show just how poor/rushed/half baked the product.
I remember when people leveraged those complaints at CoH2.
Well, at least they actually had budget to fix it post launch.
I also was fighting the torrent of hate when 2 released, but 3 feels like a mod outside of new models and some good QOL.
How much poverty stricken you need to be to not fix icons for few units after several months?
Their ONLY good game was DoW1
Idk why people ever gave a shit about early CoH
