Capcom hasn't created a single brand new IP in more than ten years.
What's up with that? It's almost like the company's teams are only focused on making only remakes, ports of older games and some sporadic sequels.

Exoprimal would have been much better recieved if the game wasn't a vs game but a Dino Crisis game with co-op.
RE shouldn't have went action heavy. They should have pushed that to Dino Crisis.

It easily could if developers stopped appealing to graphixs Black folk and trying to make every new ip sell 5mil off the bat.
Capcom could very easily revive old IPs or craft one news with modest budgets, expect 250-500k sales and rank in decent profits from 6-10 smaller games, rather than hoping mega buster games keep working and never fall short.

The same goes for almost the entire industry.

Square Enix is also very bad with this, they won't let anyone make new series.

This is why you have them releasing new Star Ocean and Valkyrie Elysium games which are basically just new titles using an old name.

Square is basically outsourcing half of it, just throwing shit at the wall and see what sticks. The sad thing is that some of those games will probably turn a profit regardless of how shit the game is. How many have they released at the end of last year alone, like Harvestella, Valkyrie, Diofield etc.

Shinsekai, Exoprimal, & Pragmata are a nice start, but I agree. The thing is that Capcom has the strongest lineup of IPs in the industry and could easily feel fresh just by reviving the right ones. Via those ransomware leaks (including stuff that has already been announced/released) they've brought back Ghosts n Goblins, Dragon's Dogma, Power Stone (remake), Final Fight (remake), Captain Commando, and Mega Man (whatever Taisen is).

It seems like most of the young talent at Capcom are more passionate about the old IPs, and they've got just enough OGs to guide them when making them. Even Exoprimal is just young guys from the Monster Hunter team getting a chance to do a sci-fi PvE thing, you can see the DNA of prior Capcom IPs all over it (MH, Dino Crisis, Lost Planet). I have a schizo theory that Pragmata is related to Mega Man but even I don't fully believe it.

don't count your chickens, that was a while ago now and Power Stone is MIA, as is Final Fight and Captain Commando, and it also mentioned Onimusha but it was seemingly canned as the re-releases underperformed (Capcom classic of an old game not selling 5 million copies so they shelve it forever)
GnG Resurrection was marketed terribly, the name Resurrection made everyone think it was a remake when it wasn't, and the art style was divisive, seemed to get very low sales
wouldn't surprise me if GnG's low sales mean they stop making smaller games entirely
      new Demon's Crest never ever

Capcom is in recovery mode. They are only throwing out safe money getting franchise games right now because of the 7 some years of constant failure they went through. Which the only reason they even avoided bankruptcy is because Sony pulled them out of it for SFV and MH never fails.
They are in the process of securing funds to start actually developing new and or forgotten franchises games again.

Capcom is very obviously more safe than Nintendo. The frick are you on?
Nintendo tried to saved Devil's Third and Rodea the Sky Soldier
      Save Bayonetta
      funded Wonderfl101
      Helped make Astral Chain.
Did Labo and game builder Garbage, even if those are meme tier games, they are still unusual types of games.
Created Splatoon, ARMS, Code Name Steam, Ever Oasis, etc.
Nintendo takes plenty of risks and starts several new IPs every generation no matter what 'doesn't count' bullshit idiots try to play off, along with trying to prop up IPs that are struggling or need help from indies/third parties.
