Dragonite is probably the most "nu-gen" looking Pokemon from Kanto. It's a cartoon dragon with incredibly simple anatomy comprised of rounded off-shapes that also doesn't look like it'd be able to function "realistically" (it's wings are far too small to carry it's fat body with any sort of believability).

its abundantly clear that dragonite, just like dragonair, was originally separate evolutionary lines, just like squirtle and blastoise, that were then merged together. In fact its so obvious im considering making a hack that makes these changes.
Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise are the only turtles in the game, you big dummy. They were always in the same family.

Genuinely believe that these were originally two separate lines merged into one. Blastoise wasn't originally meant to be Wartortle's evo, either. The development of Red and Green was fricked. Game Freak needed to be babysat by miyamoto toward the end of development of R/G and Iwata had to babysit for G/S.
