Well, C's shot is stronger isn't it? There are some sections where that would be extremely useful if you are playing for score. Specifically places where strings of medium enemies are only on screen for a few seconds. Having even a little bit more firepower would make a big difference.
Type-C's side shot is absurdly strong, even stronger than the drill. You can get really aggressive with it.
I wouldn't say C's base shot is stronger in the strict sense of the word, more like its damage potential is consistent at all ranges unlike Type B which needs to be shotgunned for maximum effect. That said, C's upgrades are definitely more powerful across the board

Yea, it has a very forgiving continue system and in terms of difficulty there aren't really any sections I can think of that are over the top difficult.
It's both easy to get into and frankly my favorite shmup. It's really good
