No, this has always been a singleplayer MMO. The only time you actually care about other people are non instanced bosses or the wildness. 90% of the content you will be doing is agnostic of other players existing, other players only matter for the social experience which has been dead for 15 years.

I have genuinely been botting on OSRS for over 3 years and never once received any sort of ban. They just seem to have stopped banning bots at some point.
unless you are playing 30 accounts behind the same ip, use shitty public scripts, or play behind a flagged VPN, your chances of being banned for botting are quite low.

"what bot" what do you mean? I use different scripts in runelite. Actual dedicated bot clients are dead in the water. runelite can do everything and they literally cannot track you.
I mean, I run raids (mostly toa), zulrah, vork scripts on the regular. I'm not really doing too much with others, cause there's not much point, but I do ToB duo/trios and cox mass sometimes. botting was mostly a way to get past the boring, annoying shit, like questing, and leveling combat.

Either youre very inefficient, don't engage with other players enough to warrant it, or youre already on the list and they just haven't deleted you already with the other thousands. the last ones probably not it considering its been over 3 years by your estimate.
those bots are still giving jagex money, I highly doubt they actually want to remove them all. If i was some kind of schizo, id say they intentionally track the big earners to get them to buy more memberships
kek you give jagex way too much credit for how good their detection is. your account is only under a lot of heavy scrutiny when it's freshly created, they don't spend the resources running all of their detection algorithms trying to bust 100+ million total xp accounts botting when people are making hundreds of accounts per minute to make mass suicide bot farms

That's just it anon, you never noticed before because it was enough to satiate your desire for interactivity. Nowadays everything has to be either 3t or completely AFK because people are fricking autistic and desire "efficiency", so you basically never interact with the game, or interact to such a degree that you start to notice the facade.
You can still enjoy the game for what it is, just try to find a clan with people. Don't be surprised if they're mostly just botting though.
I think that's what ultimately put me off the game. I was always so bored of the grinding, but when you're chatting with friends and strangers, the grind doesn't feel as bad. But when everyone hops over to discord or only talks in their CC, or outright ignores you... its lonely. Personally, I love grinding. Runescape, GTA Online, Stardew Valley and it's many clones are all very fun for me. It's comfy, casual, and let's me forget the world and whittle what little time I have left in the day before tomorrow comes.
Runescape's grind now is spending hundreds of hours to get a crumb of gameplay that probably isn't enjoyable or what I really want from it.
I mean I could go into a tirade of the subtleties of the way people interact online, but yeah, I'm sure you already know how facebook fricked up the way people interact with the internet on the whole, and phones too.
It won't ever go back to the way it was, so it's best to just not stay attached to the ideas of random interaction, and strangers making conversation. It simply isn't the way kids are taught now, it isn't the way normalgays are, because they're so afraid of their "safety" online, because no one ever told them they don't have to put their real name on their email and their username.

The video is interesting. The idea that in the future, mmo companies will other a singleplayer "multiplayer" experience where its just you and hundreds of bots that act like real players I think will actually happen, and people will play it. In the future Blizzard will end up releasing a new version of wow classic where its just you and whatever friends you invite, surrounded by bots that act completely like 2004 players. Very weird to think about.

Using CGPT would be way too resource intensive if you need to generate 100 bots per a single player.

You already see people talking about this with AI text NPCs for games in general. Like a lot of applications for this stuff its bad for anyone with an actual vision, but a lot of people want an endless world. In theory it could be kinda cool but it would also produce endless drivel which isn't all that interesting.

Botting is pretty much the sole reason why I stopped playing OSRS years ago, it's so demotivating to be grinding runecrafting for hours and hours, and then see literal dozens of bots running nats at edgeville with 99+ runecrafting. The game is, at bare minimum, 40% bots. I think the facade of the osrs botting problem is starting to break, and people are realizing how fricked it really is.

Not him but what do you mean? I play RS3 regularly, pretty even split between it and osrs (maxed on both, trimmed comp on rs3).
Newest shit on RS3 is fort forinthry, basically a not poh area, replaced the varrock sawmill, you build it up with construction, and it has an altar, a few teleports, and some other stuff, they're putting in a whole questline about it and surrounding it. Pretty neat. They're also getting a new skill, called necromancy, no further info but people are speculating another elite skill (requiring other skills at milestone levels) for no reason.
I wanted to know what's going on, in terms of new skills, quests, NPC's, the Gods storyline, and other neat things. The video OP mentioned was talking about bots taking over, is anything like that happening to RS3? I always get the urge to go back, but I know deep down I won't enjoy it anymore.
Honestly? Currency is hyperfixated on megarares and past c osmetics, things that c an't really be botted. EoC, for all it's problems, also stops bots from being NEAR as effective as in osrs.
MTX also reduces the need for account services/selling. As bad as it may sound, there's way less botting and rwt in rs3, mostly because the currency isn't fricking worth anything.
The storylines are a bit too full to fit into a post, but the most recent thing is fort forinthry, definitely worth checking out. If you have membs on OSRS you can try it out in rs3, only requires like 30 con to start and that's it.
