FINE I'LL MAKE MY OWN
Do the feats seem kinda unwhelming to anyone else? Normally I can't stand dipping because I feel like the benefits of 1-2 levels in another class are always outweighed by the loss of a feat, but going through the list the feats seem kinda "meh". Considering how often I can rest to restore Rage charges anyway, I feel like going full 12 in Barb is kind of a waste and I might as well dip somewhere for a level. I get that it's meant to be a relatively low-level adventure but the feats feel almost superfluous for something you only get once every 4 levels in a game that only goes to level 12.
tl;dr
I refuse to accept that the shitposters should just be allowed to win and let Ganker become even worse, especially when I think those people actively want Ganker to be ruined and are thus going out of their way to try and make people abandon this place.
I've played the 5e tabletop, at no point did I think it was going to be DOS2, but they're still missing a few feats that are in the tabletop despite buffing ones that were there.
Not true, Great Weapon Master is pretty much a must if you go melee.
BEAR SEXO
>I've played the 5e tabletop
Then you know how much it sucks. Frick dice rolls, frick only being able to cast spells in a set amount, frick WotC.
The DOS system is infinitely superior.
>Frick dice rolls
Well I'm ok with that
>frick only being able to cast spells in a set amount
I don't know, I'm ok with 5e trying to strike a balance between Vancian and spontaneous casting.
>despite buffing ones that were there
They removed my class's interaction with polearm master. I just straight up don't get the extra damage that I'm supposed to on the bonus action attack, despite it functioning fine for dual wield bonus attacks.
What interaction is that?

The combat on the whole is underwhelming.
I'm beyond mad that BG3 isn't DOS3. It would be literally perfect.
Same. Im hoping the mod community will have a mod done that'll essentially change the combat to being more like DOS2.
Thank GOD someone said it. The combat really is one of the low points of the game.
The abilities, the 'spells', and the horrendous UI really leave a lot more to be desired. It's a pity this game isn't a spiritual successor to DOS3, something I am reminded of everytime I enter combat.
I think Larian combined elements of DOS2 with DnD and the result is a half baked.. zombie.
Playing a caster in DOS2 made me feel like a god, the charge system in 5e makes me feel weak as frick in comparison.
>Coming into BG3 after having just spent a good 10 minutes of chain-CC'ing an entire army of voidwoken and undead with a combination of rain, every Aerothurge spell I could slap into a hotbar, and a few love grenades just for good measure, and having my character desperately struggle to land one cantrip
It is an unreal pain
>Playing BG3 after having played DOS2
>Pick conjuration subclass with Gale specifically because he gets create water without needing to learn it or have it prepared
>Yeah boy, I'm gonna make some puddles and electro stun everyone
>Realize later there's barely any spells with lightning damage
>Even then, casting create water already uses my action and I can't cast a lightning spell until the next turn
/v/, did I frick up?
yes, because you couldve given him a lightning spell and shadowheart already has create or destroy water at the start.
>shadowheart already has create water
oh boy
isn't a single thread actually talking about the GAME aspect of BG3, on the video GAMES board
>The combat on the whole is underwhelming.
it's based on fricking D&D, what the frick do you expect?
If Ganker is b***hing about the combat of a game then I know for a fact the combat is fine.
>I'm beyond mad that BG3 isn't DOS3. It would be literally perfect.
Holy shit you said it. Can't believe they had a winning combo with the Original Sin system then threw it away for shallow D&D shit.
Think about it like this
They improved with each game, with BG3 in the middle dos2 to dos3 gets two games worth of improvement. They have the content development down pat, now they may try some extra features, for example it would be nice to finally have an RPG that allows you to interrupt dialogue (not the ME shit), or have one character in a dialogue, but tied to the turn-based combat the rest of the team is engaged in.
Why not go to /vrpg/? Seems like a better fit for actual game discussion.
None really stood out me apart from the polearm one that allows reaction attacks, usually I've just ended up increasing a main stat by 2
is either sales/critics numbers shitposting, culture war bullshit, or just shitposting in general
The game was early access for years now. Is there something new to the gameplay? No, then shitposts about sales numbers and culture are what you get.
If you care about the gameplay, play the fricking game and ignore these shitty threads
Most actual bg3 discussion is on vg. Threads hit 1k replies every single time past bump. Who the frick wants to discuss on video games on vg, and lets not pretend most threads here about anything are actually discussing the game and not an extremely small aspect or shitposting
I refuse to use the Ganker splinters out of principle; i will only post here
What’s the best way to get opportunities of attack with range? I’m playing pact of blade warlock and would prefer not to multiclass unless necessary
Use weapons with reach?
Can i get more attacks of opportunity or will it only ever be a single reaction? How can i increase the crit range from 20 to 19?
I like "mobile" on my rogue to disengage from enemies by using a melee attack too. Helps with repositioning and stealthing for the next turns sneak attack too. There are definetly tiers there in terms of usefulness.
I truly wish Larian would improve the default placement when combat start after a dialogue. Right now You're force to take control of the others and place them during the convo.

Despite all the options they give you, combat feels even more bland than a jrpg or autobattling mobile game

ToTK is peak mediocrity.
In all honesty I put this game below cyberpunk 2077
It's a 7.5/10 game at best
the story isn't written well
the characters are not written well
5e is not a good combat system
D&D is not a good setting
It's not a /bad/ game, but I genuinely had more fun with cyberpunk
Did you liked the cyberpussy of keanu with that crapy monotone undead voice too?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's gaming time.
>spent 2 hours yesterday trying to kill this guy
>did it after I did the shar trials
>end up having to reload and lose another hour of progress because for some reason, exploring the Shar trials makes him auto aggro so I had to load a save before I started ANY of them
>spent 20 minutes rerolling dialogue checks so I could go the "easy" route by having him kill all his minions, his displacer beast, and himself
No idea how the frick I was supposed to kill him. I started messing with grenades but there was just too much shit at all times and I couldn't figure out anywhere in the whole zone that was optimal for even doing the encounter.
Raphael wasn't bullshitting bro
did you go around the back or walk right into the ambush by following the displacer beast?
You literally just sneak up behind him, shove his demon buddies in the pit for the displacer beast to kill. When he throws bombe at you, pick them up and throw them back for massive damage. Fight is a cakewalk on tactician, the only hard fight so far is Raphael but only because you can’t go into it fully rested.
Honestly you should milk that fight for the free bombs, they’re really good and can’t buy them anywhere.
>You literally just sneak up behind him, shove his demon buddies in the pit for the displacer beast to kill.
Weird, this never happened in any of the attempts. The beast would instantly make copies and spawn them up on the ledge behind him. Not once did they attack his minions.
Bad luck then, they’re not allies. The demon dude is a joke if you pick up his bombs.
>The demon dude is a joke if you pick up his bombs.
I tried this but never had enough turns to throw them back. I'd maybe get one thrown back before his minions would throw more at them and explode them, instantly killing one or two of my characters.
Raphaels house has free restoration waters bro.
My character is a ranger /rogue and I just convinced him to not be hostile in dialogue then walked behind him and killed him in literally one round.
Can you post a screenshot of your character sheet and stat spread? I take it you're Gloomstalker Ranger with maybe 1-3 in Rogue?
Me and my friend laughed our asses off at what seemed to be a bug at the time but it now I think it's some hidden easter-egg mechanic
>Me: Fighter, Karlach
>Him: Wizard, Shadowheart
>Me and my (literally) hot demon GF rushed into the fat bastard and started dealing with him, the displacer beast and a few of his horde
>Friend and his goth GF slinging spells at the fodder enemies in the room
>I'm not feeling so good at the end of round 2 so friend uses polymorph on the fat guy to buy me some time
>A hail of bombs literally explode out of the sheepy bastard
>We have no fricking idea why he just did that, decide to check his stats
>Figure that the reason why he dropped all his nades in an instant was because he lost ALL of his strength when he turned into a sheep, making it impossible for him to keep in his inventory
>Me and hot ass GF jumps out of range
>Shadowbab uses firebolt
>Sea of explosives so large that it covers the entire screen and brings me down with it, along with 90% of the enemies still standing in the room
>Fat homosexual still not dead though, sheep form might have saved his life by absorbing the worst of the blast
>For some fricking reason he keeps laughing his fat head off and doesn't stop until he's dead
I'm 100% sure that some designer put this in as a joke solution to the fight since I've never seen any other enemy drop shit from being polymorphed
I wouldn't be surprised because you do get the polymorph scroll in one of the rooms in that zone
my barbarian protag and assassin asteros both on meth raped this b***h in 1 turn
I walked under this guy, noticed it was an ambush, then wandered around to a side area where I killed a Displacer Beast. Then they all aggroed but instead of rushing down to me all his minions ran to the edge of the ledge they're on and ineffectively spammed crossbows while my party nova'd them down with magic and specialty arrows. The big guy just pathed around invisible without reaching us until all the minions were dead.
You can sneak up behind him with your entire party, then talk him into killing all of his followers (and possibly the displacer beast) before even starting on him. From that point it's literally a 1vGroup and all you have to do is grab the grenades when he flings them (and you can use them against him lol)
Well that was my issue. Something that I did made it so he aggro'd me on sight. The only thing I was able to think of was doing the shar trials somehow fricked with him as that was finally the save I loaded back up where I was able to talk to him.
I had trouble until I noticed one of the goobers threw the grenade at me and it exploded. I re-did the fight and absolutely curbstomped him the next time because I threw all 3 grenades he threw at the beginning right back at them killing half of them the first turn. I don't know if that was intended, but it felt good.
skill issue
How i did it on tactician
>have battlemaster froggy with alert feat
>misty step boots or her guth jump would have worked
>pre-buff blur scroll+bless from my cleric
>froggy goes first misty steps up and just kicks his shit in before pushing attacking him down
>we just kick the shit out of him before he gets a turn now that hes prone
>he dies
>his guards has sential so froggy can’t escape
>grab the orb and his shit. Book it.
>rez her back at withers
Feats are either game-changingly amazing or not worth taking over the ASI and there is no in-between
the frickin bell toll on crit smites is so deeply satisfying
Actually kinda dissapointed by tactician fights, sometimes I thought it was on normal and had to double check. Also tired of the too many mobs, would prefer if there were fewer but stronger. Some encounters take way too long and feel drawn out.
>Some encounters take way too long and feel drawn out.
Not sure if anyone else is getting this issue, but my problem with these fights that have a ton of enemies is the turns sometimes bug out. An enemy will move and instead of ending the turn immediately, it'll just sit there for like ~30 seconds doing nothing and THEN the turn ends.
It's fricking infuriating.
it feels like the AI spends so much time trying to evaluate their best move that they get timedout to prevent an infinite loop
Im also playing a pc pally, shadowheart and karlach 3 man squad. Didnt feel the need for another and I don’t want men in my party. Also I thought I could have a harem but shadowheart shut me out after fricking karlach (cutscene didnt even play) so I got shafted out of my sex scene.
Pally and barbarian are insane single target damage, shadowheart plays as support and does aoe damage when needed. The djinn summon is also OP and the deva and cambion summons are trash in comparison. Djinn can teleport anywhere and do the thunderwave aoe that pushes mobs off cliffs with ease. Djinn is MVP for aoe damage and you can spam it every turn. Also get the legendary mace for shadowheart with the 1 time use divine intervention spell, the other options are shit and 1 encounter use only.
summons are always OP
Nah, the rest are shit compared to the djinn. I expect a nerf, it’s got 170 hp, can teleport anywhere and an aoe push spell you can spam every turn. The undead summons are garbage too.
you spend one action to eat up a bunch of your enemies actions, it’s always good especially on harder difficulties
How do you get a djinn summon? I thought you could only get small animal familiars and that faith guardian thing.
I want to do a rogue dragonkin, is it viable or not? because I'm interested in sorcerers who can just blast you from a distance
Bugs the hell out of me how much info the game doesn't bother giving you. Like how the Tenacity bonus on weapons is based on your attack modifier (since Shadowheart can't hit shit without it), or which spells you can learn are Rituals.
What's everyone's favorite spell so far?
This is my #1 by a landslide just because of how fun it is to use. Slapped it on Shadowheart and she just turns into a holy beyblade where I simply run / jump her at enemies. Especially with the amount of shit weak to radiant damage in Act 2.

fextralife has an entire subreddit
That’s powerful early on but in act 3 the damage is subpar. djinn summon + adventurers delight buff is great with the amulet that restores a lvl 6 spell slot. Use the djinn to teleport behind and shockwave mobs into your front line then just massacre them. Shadowheart is just my designated scroll user and occasional healing.
That shit carried me through act 2
Wrathful Smite so evil cucks can fear your righteous fury.

Brainlet filter or useless?
useless
I'm about 50 hours in and I've used it once to hit a lever
I used it to fight Grym but then never again, but better to have it and rarely use it than to never have it at all
>can throw items and push without using your action
>dropping items is a free action
Brainlet filter. It can throw flasks of water for a 50% damage buff to all your lightning spells for example.
Filtered
>dropping items is a free action
so you could drop a potion for it to throw on it's next turn and still do all your actions?
that's actually pretty crazy
Yeah it's really underrated. It can move things around too. Take it for a spin.
That... Actually quite good. I'm gonna start using mage hand.
>shoving people off cliffs
>throwing potions
Other than that fairly useless.
Actually useful if you're smart
Times I used it:
>open a locked gate that had a lever on the other side which would open it
>operating controls for some platforms in the forge place
>picking locks at a distance (upgraded version of the spell)
The higher level you go and further you go in the game the more useful it seems to get
Use it to check out those small holes your huge body 2 muscle hunk of a character can't fit in.
I was dissapointed it wasnt discount telekinesis to grab shit and trhow farther
how can i make a decent party without astarion while playing a paladin? i hate the stupid homosexual but he is quite useful
By taking whoever you like to Withers and just respeccing them to a rogue.
i meant with lore characters
Yes you can do it with origin characters as well.
Is the hireling rogue so bad?
The hirelings in general suck at least in my opinion. I'd much rather just use a voiced companion and respec them. If they allowed me to fully customize hirelings, it'd be different. But they don't.
My second playthrough I'm already thinking of who to just respec and go with if a mod isn't released by then.
Just have a wizard learn knock from a scroll moron
Shadowheart can do the job fine and when she can't just loot the chest and send it back to camp for him to open later
I only find him useful for cheese ambush sniping. I can just save scum all the skill checks anyway.
Lae'zel is a perfectly good choice for lockpicking as long as you use their racial on dex
respec shadowheart into cleric/rogue keeping her same domain and going arcane trickster
she can do 90% of the shit astarion does but without being a homosexual
That initiative feat is literally must have
Does fighter get some kind of dueling stance? i.e. using a single one handed weapon
you can take Dueling as a fighting style, yes
Dueling fighting style adds a bit of damage if you're using a 1H weapon
Can still use a shield with it just not another weapon
I had to stop playing halfway through act 3. I was actually enjoying myself and only had two issues throughout act 1/2 with some random crashes. But as I got further and further into act 3 it kept happening, I finally figured it out that it almost always happens late into a battle with astarion doing a sneak attack off hand hit. Plus that and the ghost quest broke on me so I gave up, i'll go back when its fixed in a few months
No amount of gameplay would make me want to touch something with this amount of homosexualry.
Period.
It would amount to put a cherry on top of a steaming smelly fresh turd.
I made a bard but now I kind of want to make a character based around things like improvised weapons and throwing.
What's the best option for that? I don't want to just be a fighter, I'd like some spells or skills as well. Can I make a strength based thief? Or maybe even a strength based warlock?
Actually wait, can I throw things if I druid wildshape? Like just turn into a bear to throw things, cat to be a thief, and then be a spellcaster outside of that?
the obvious choice for throwing shit is barbarian because of the frenzied subclass
Being able to throw or improvise melee weapons 3 times per turn is awesome
Went through the wiki a bit and it seems like a barbarian (berserker) rogue (thief) multiclass is exactly what I'm looking for.
Now I'm tempted to start over, I'm not very far at all, but given how goofy it is I should probably save it for a second playthrough.
Thanks anons
Your can respec at camp for a hundred gold, no need to restart
Dont you need to awaken the undead gyy in the first crypt?
He appears regardless.
>Can I make a strength based thief?
Oddly yes, sneak attack only requires that you're using a Finesse weapon or making a ranged attack not that you're actually attacking with dex
So you can chuck daggers at 90mph and get expertise in athletics, maybe go partially into Barbarian I think they get a thing for better throwing
Barb/rogue is pretty better right now for this reason.
It's pretty much the only viable DWF build.
i agree anon, because im fricking sick and tired of the endless waifu coomposting that Ganker and /vg/ has been infected with. stop fricking caring about bangin pixels you god damn virgins and care about the GAME.
all that being said
literally no feat is as good as ASI. which is why everyone only gets ASI.
Tavern Brawler is so good it should have been its own subclass, it enables STR monk and you just say frick the no armor and go Fighter to get heavy armor and just roll around jumping mad distance and punching people. Athlete is also insanely good in this game. Alert for all the surprise fights.
GWM+PAM obviously.
ASI is worthless if you have the knowledge of where gear that sets stays to a specific number are, or +perma stats.
ASIs are a bit less attractive this game since it vomits items that have actual +1 effects for you instead of being massively stingy like every official adventure module
The tadpole powers and the itemization turn a boring ass 5e game into a super fun power gaming game.
>lets you use bonus actions as actions and vice versa for 3 turns
Tadpole powers are nuts.
They're mostly 1 to 1 the base feats in 5e which, asides some brain dead obvious stand out aren't that great. You're not wrong.
There are some more interesting feats in later books but Larian obviously spent more time home brewing suboptimal subclasses over adding/tweaking feats.
More half feats would have been a lot better and probably mod'd if anyone cares at that point.
Is it better to kill the 3 leaders at the goblin camp or wait for them to attack the grove?
>wait for them to attack the grove?
I didn't even that was an option. To free Haslim it seemed like I pretty much had to kill the leaders for him to escape.
Can I just leave Haslim to die and hang out in the grove for them to attack?
I think you can go along with Minthara's plan and then tell Halsin and the grove people they're coming
The whole "warn them goblins are coming" is a fricking lie. You just show up there when Minthara attacks and betray her. Spent ~4 hours getting through it because Minthara alone can easily wipe my lvl 2 3-man party.
If you kill the little goblin shitkids before they alert the camp and free Halsin, he'll stick around until after the siege on the druid camp. If you tell Minthara or let the bawd goblin tell her about the camp, then you can just refuse to open the gates when she demands it and fight on the Tieflings' side.
Can you play Druid as an offensive spellcaster or are you relying on animal forms for damage?
Druid spell list isn't very offense heavy but Spike Growth and Heat Metal can be really strong, and they have good control/summon spells.
>everything is either sales/critics numbers shitposting, culture war bullshit
This is 99% of the board these days.
You just have to face the facts at this point that Ganker has dropped below reddit-tier levels of discussion and is arguably the absolute worst place for video game discussion online tied with Resetera.
These two sites are just two sides of the same coin, people who don't care about video games, just numbersgayging and culture war. That's all this place is now. I remember people meme'ing /vg/ as the place where vidya discussion goes to die and how "Ganker is for when you actually want to talk about video games" and now Ganker is on par if not even worse than some of the shittiest generals on /vg/.
It's astounding how bad this board is.
Imagine typing out all this crybaby b***h-shit because no-one cares to talk about shit product you like. Manchild lol
He is sort of right, the game is rather shallow and a direct downgrade to DOS2 in terms of mechanics and I'd argue the tadpole gives you way to many options to just negate fights as if they purposefully made fights shit.
>because no-one cares to talk about shit product you like
Half the board is false flagged shitposts about BG3, what are you even talking about. Everyone is spamming about it. I don't give a shit if no one wants to talk about a game I enjoy, but if they're going to actively stifle legitimate discussion? That's some pure homosexual behavior.
Lads, HELP me. This game is too fricking hard. I JUST finished Act 1, because battles sometimes took an hour or more for me to beat.
My melee units always get rekt on turn 1 or turn 2, because my AC never fells high enough.
And when it's our time to attack, we always miss. I pretty much HAVE to have Karlach use her Wolf power or Gale us sleep to guarantee good enough rng for us to hit.
And yes, I'm using +1 weapons, and the best armor avalible in shops.
And yes, I have 17 in STR and the Greater Weapon Master Feat.
I just DON'T fricking get this game. I feel hilariously underpowered and weak no matter what I do.
Gale and Shadowheart's spells never land (usually only a 50-60% chance). And the enemies pretty much always go first, which is utterly insane when there's 10+ of them like in the Goblin or Knoll camp.
Everyone says this game is easy but it feels like I'm playing Pathfinder on fricking unfair difficulty
Are you buffing everyone all the time (with Bless and shit)?
Using elixirs and shit?
I feel like 5e is pretty buff dependent
>Are you buffing everyone all the time (with Bless and shit)?
Yes, always bless on my melee units, and armor of faith on my Paladin
>Using elixirs and shit?
Only Potions of speed versus bosses
>thats pretty much everyone's experience.
Then why do I see people in some of these threads claiming that the game is piss easy, and anyone that's not playing on tactician is braindead?
I consider myself pretty well versed in DnD considering I beat Baldur's Gate 2 and the Pathfinder games on Core, but I feel like an utter noob when it comes to BG3.
I guess I'm struggling because I'm not using the gimmicks like cliffs.
>Then why do I see people in some of these threads claiming that the game is piss easy
I mean, the game IS piss easy. Compared to the two PF games on Unfair, or even Div OS 1 or 2's Tactician, this shit is babby mode.
It's feels like normal.
>I mean, the game IS piss easy.
Please explain to me how it's easy, anon?
Maybe it's because I'm a Paladin with 12 dex (I wear heavy armor), but I have zero tanking capabilities and I always go last in combat, which wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't made of tissue paper.
I literally don't understand how I'm supposed to approach these encounters, when I go into a room, and 5-10 enemies go before me in battle, with my Paladin dodging nearly ZERO of their attacks.
The Goblin Camp for example was insane at level 3. Literally everyone in the court yard went before me, so my team was already half dead before it was even out turn.
Same with the Gnolls.
It doesn't help that the DC for my spells isn't reliable. So I can't even depend on a well aimed hideous laughter, grease, or command to turn the tide.
-cc is worthless in this game
-you should have 20+ AC in plate or what the frick are you even doing
-it's easy to build 26-29 AC characters at level 3-4
-why didn't you poison the beer
-attack from stealth for bonus round
-use poisons and consumables (I don't but they're OP)
>-you should have 20+ AC in plate or what the frick are you even doing
In Act 1, the best I can get is 19 AC, because the best heavy armor I've found so far was the +1 Scalemail Armor (17 AC).
>-it's easy to build 26-29 AC characters at level 3-4
How? You can't stack buffs because of concentration
>why didn't you poison the beer
I didn't know you could
>attack from stealth for bonus round
I see
You don't have to answer my entire post, anon, but please tell me how you're getting 26-29 AC at level 3-4?
method one - be a ranger pet with shield spell
method two - all kinds of shit but as an example with just MEDIUM armor-
>dark justicar half plate (16)
>2 dex mod
>shield (2)
>cloak of prot (1)
so that's 21 without shield spell, without the gloves (+1), without the boots (+1), without Ring of Prot (+1)
and that's medium armor. High dex people and other classes can go way higher
But what about with heavy armor?
I'm already using plate armor (thus no dex bonus to ac) + a shield of faith, and I don't have any cloaks of protection (yet)
heavy armor sucks dicks in this game. Respec to drop dex when you find decent ones mid to late game (but this is still a questionable thing since it makes you go last)
>Respec to drop dex
Unfortunately, I can't. I'm a Paladin, so I need STR + Dex for my build
>STR + Dex
*STR + Cha
I don't know why I said I needed Dex here.
Sure you hit hard, but I feel like you have no AC, which is really bad when you're going last in combat
My monk has 20 Strength, 10 Dexterity, but 23 AC from wearing heavy armor and a shield (Fighter dip for proficiency). With Tavern Brawler I shit out attacks and obliterate anything within fisting range (which is most things because my jumping distance is massive). Since Touch AC isn't a thing there's no functional difference between Dex-based or armor-based AC.
>but 23 AC from wearing heavy armor
Where are you getting armor that good?
Sorry, the 23 is from the Adamantite Armor + shield + some AC accessory items.
>Adamantite Armor
Thanks, anon. I'll make grabbing this my top priority next time I boot the game up
It's really great, I also have it on my Paladin character from another run along with a helmet that has a chance to deal radiant damage to enemies that miss me and most of combat is enemies being sent Reeling and damaging themselves trying to hit me.
>Adamantite Armor
It's pretty insane how much better this is than all the weapon options you get from that forge.
Yeah the weapons were super disappointing but I'm starting Act 3 and haven't found better armor yet. Only annoying part is something is wrong with the model because on my Dragonborn there's a gap at the waist where I can see through to my cape.
heavy armor sucks dick early. With a shield and heavy in act 1 you'll probably be at 19 (so if you take fighter's +1, which I did on my monk)
it doesn't get good until later
You don't really need DEX for a paladin. Either have it at 14 if you want to use medium armor or 10 if you don't.
Nevermind, just noticed you correcting yourself here
>Either have it at 14 if you want to use medium armor or 10 if you don't.
You can even straight-up dump it. I played an 8 DEX Paladin in tabletop and its only real problem is that your DEX saves suck (until level 6).
STR in BG3 is also the better stat, anyways. I've felt my STR targeted far, far more than DEX due to all the shoves.
goblin camp is a lvl 4 zone
gnolls are for lvl 5
that said its really easy to miss xp early on and frick yourself
also
paladins are only good in 5e as smite-bots to deliver enormous spike single target damage. IF your hits connect.
and like i said, AC is meaningless early on. even lvl 1 enemies have a base +5 to their rolls, they will ALWAYS hit you no matter what. they're also programmed to have artificially high initiative too. start fights far enough away to force them to use dash (they always will) to get to you, then you can whack them. unless they're ranged
in which case you're screwed.
how does AC work? my tank has 20AC what does that actually mean?
AC = Armor Class
Armor Class = Your chance to dodge an attack
Armor class is increased with armor, your dex bonus, and the defensive potions / spells cast on you
For an enemy to hit you, their attack roll must exceed your armor class.
If the enemy rolls a 20 on their attack roll, then it's a critical hit. Critical hits cannot be dodged, and they always hit you, even if your AC is greater than their attack score.
Well shit I just beat the knolls with a friend at lvl 3 and only took 2 tries. Grease really turned the tide, barely made it out alive. Guess you guys gotta git gud. Game still feels way too easy for me on tactician having played tabletop. But I'm still in act 1 so I imagine it'll ramp up.
or
you got lucky with the grease roll
Or I'm good at making decisions in a pinch that allows us to succeed by the skin of our teeth time and time again. Yeah of course there's some luck involved.
>Then why do I see people in some of these threads claiming that the game is piss easy
Because they're cheesing the game with Bard or Warlock
or barb, or warrior, or storm sorc, or a thief with bonus action, or a Gloomstalker mix, or basically most classes just stop being a fricking shitter
t. Bard / Warlock poster
actually playing Gloomstalker you fricking shitter
Imagine having trouble with a game whose hardest difficulty is easier than Wasteland 3 on normal
KEK
bard and str monk are much stronger than those, Bad McTerribleatgames
add warlock too since they can add a third attack, and wizard dip to add scroll scribing to any caster
like
you have to be TRYING to have a hard time in this game. I don't know how bad you would have to be
this
those players are picking the absolute most broken shit in the game, either on purpose or on accident by just liking that type of [thing]
and they're also abusing gimmicks like cliffs. being totally honest, most of my damage doesnt even come from characters. its from fricking cliffs.
thats pretty much everyone's experience. larian, like owlcat, cannot balance worth shit. your AC is basically meaningless early on; enemies will -always- hit you.
my advice? abuse the frick out of cliffs. don't be afraid to chasm drop Black folk, including bosses; the loot isnt that good anyway.
also go into your settings and TURN OFF KARMIC DICE. it CLAIMS to 'even things out', but in reality, it just fricking gimps you constantly
>push a boss off a cliff
>his loot goes with him
Really need a mod that just places a bag where they dropped off or something because this is some real bullshit
only reason i was able to kill the leaders in the goblin camp was via dunking them down a pit, outside of the priestess. no regrets either
Some pits actually end up in the Underdark where you can find the body later
If you boot a body into the water, there's a chance they'll wash up on shore after a Long Rest.
No fricking way, I don't believe this is true. You've got to be shitting me.
Cool if it's actually real.
I can confirm the underdark. Never tested the water.
reminder that fighter's pushing attack can knock back enemies that are too heavy for shove to work on
so can warlock's repelling blast
Before every fight you should ungroup everyone.
Then start the fight with a single character by stealth attacking a target
Then join the fight by steath attacking with every other party member
You should try to keep your ranged guys in high ground and use debuffs/buffs.
Every fight you can start with buffs, even things like blade ward, guidance, and others, you def should.
If you can swing it, start with the rogue ungrouped and in stealth with cover
also under options turn off "Karmic dice" as it stops fail streaks, but also stops success streaks.
>Karlach
>wolf power
Go bear instead for resistance to all damage except psychic. If you're using Great Weapon Master's All In, you should be using reckless attack to offset the hit chance decrease. If you're still not getting hits, you can uncheck All In for a little bit
Also, if you have Shadowheart, just spec her into Life domain - having a good healer is important for melee parties
>Go bear instead for resistance to all damage except psychic
I need the Wolf Power for the rest of the party. Wolf Power is a great way to give 20-30% more accuracy to any other melee members on the field
Don't market your game endlessly with sex and people might actually talk about something other than sex.
>buffs almost all require concentration thereby making them exclusive with each other
>feats are all dogshit except for +attribute
>no viable solo option even considered because the devs are too focused on trying to get you to frick their precious OCs in the form of companions
>forced turn based instead of RTwP which is OBJECTIVELY superior in almost every where
>limited resting with time-gated shit even on lower difficulties, meaning that you're screwed if you favor a caster or any other playstyle that has to rest to get resources back
>no main character voice acting despite the fact that the main character will verbally comment on things in the world as as they move; literally too lazy or cheap for VA for the MC
>inundated with homosexual and woke shit like picking genitals
>companions throw themselves at you 10 minutes after meeting you, all at the same time, regardless of your character's sex
>companions in general are mostly boring, made only as coombait
>companions are so interwoven into the story that it actively punishes you for killing them even when you should, such as when astarion tries to kill you TWICE or when lae'zel tries to kill you
>bastardized from 5e so all the wonderously fun cheese from 3.5e is gone
>walking speed as slow as a 90 year old going uphill in january. no option to speed up walking out of combat
>holding down alt doesn't highlight everything interactable like it should (outside of things that should be hidden for puzzles and shit)
>perception rolls often don't highlight whatever was perceived so you miss it anyway because alt doesn't highlight it even when its found
>karmic dice which is on by default loves to frick you over
>dice rolls don't take 20 when out of combat for things that you logically would be able to try over and over until you get it right (unless you're not skilled enough because take 20 shouldn't lead to crit success), like lockpicking
not a 97 game
>instead of RTwP which is OBJECTIVELY superior in almost every where
and stopped reading
you must like trash fights taking 20 minutes then
As opposed to spending 20 minutes buffing?
see: >buffs all require concentration
your characters can maintain 1 buff each. we aren't in 3.5e territory anymore, but even THEN, those buffs usually lasted a good long time
>forced turn based instead of RTwP which is OBJECTIVELY superior in almost every where
Opinion discarded RPGcodex boomer
rpgcodex seriously think rtwp is good?
that’s a lot of shit opinions for one post
>feats are all dogshit except for +attribute
Greater Weapon Master? The Throw Feat? Polearm Master? Sentinel?
GWM MAYBE. throw god no. polearm restricts you to one weapon type
sentinel is dogshit
meanwhile
ASI is great for everything and everyone
Yawn, bunch of b***hing. It's the best rpg in a long long time.
>feats are all dogshit except for +attribute
moronic
>forced turn based instead of RTwP which is OBJECTIVELY superior in almost every where
moronic
>meaning that you're screwed if you favor a caster or any other playstyle that has to rest to get resources back
Cantrips, fricking moron
how to kill bugbear pounding hobogoblin bussy in act 1?
just be good at the game I haven't had a fight on tactician I didn't practically breeze through
Probably the worst ironically were the side area fire mephits in the forge area, they were the only time I actually had 3 characters outright die. Their fight was actually harder than the big boss golem because of their bullshit exploding on death + spawning 2 more fire mephits on death
>mephits
God I hate these little frickers. The mud ones in the swamp are annoying as shit too
I read your entire post and I did not see a single DICK or BALLS in that
I feel a bit boring playing it but I'm really enjoying fighter
Because game sucks.
I abandoned this shit at the end of second act because all these fights are just boring.
You fricking kill all these homosexuals with basic attacks because they're immune to everything and sometimes they just fricking kill one of your characters before you can do anything.
And you can't even change the difficulty because it doesn't fricking affect anything.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOORIIIIIIIIING
Yeah, 5e sucks wieners. Larian did the best they could with a shit system in vidya. Maybe it's a shit system at the table too, I dunno. I will never try it.
Good news is the game is great but the romance shit sucks dong. I wish I could turn it off completely but whatever. Swords Bard missing half my attacks but I have 9 of them so who cares. Sharpshooter adds 90 damage to 9 attacks, so if I hit 5 that's 50. I think I might be better off not using it and taking 2 more dex to 20 instead.
>Yeah, 5e sucks wieners.
>Maybe it's a shit system at the table too, I dunno. I will never try it.
Can't believe that the curse of nogame exists outside of tg. But you're right, 5e is shit. BG3 lets you do a bunch of things that aren't possible in normal 5e and it's a lot more fun because of it.
I played a lot of Solasta and coming from older D&D games it feels really bland and easy. Like, even my Goldbox games feel more advanced.
I enjoy the story and world, but I dont actually like the gameplay. Not because Larian fricked it up, but because DnD seems to be impossible to adapt to video game form in any fun way possible. Maybe DnD itself is just not fun
anyways, Baldurs gate should have just played like DOS 2. Really missing the enviromental interactions
>5e is simplified to hell and back for morons
>still manages to filter Ganker
I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, I'm playing Tactician and I'm dying a decent amount but it's been getting easier as I learn. I just sort of wonder how much dumb stuff I'm doing. I think I'm gambling too much with Great Weapon Fighter, hit rates just tend to be in the 58-64% area unless I'm fighting something particularly easy to hit, and that's with advantage against prone enemies.
What feats do I even focus on as a Wizard?
I'm afraid to do anything elemental based because I've been swapping around spells so often.
attribute increase
and
attribute increase
Just INT on top of INT I assume?
mmhmm
attack roll is a d20+attack bonus against AC
so if your AC is 19
and the enemy has +5 to attack
they only have to roll a 14 or higher to hit you
if your ac is only 11 or 13, as it will be for MOST casters and unarmored characters...
then they only have to roll above a 6 or 8 to hit you. which will happen every single time
in fact i think enemies have even more than +5. shadowheart had 19 ac for me early on and she was always hit every single time. not a single miss from enemies through the entirety of act 1
turn off karmic dice
it is off
didnt make a difference
Resilient CON or War Caster, either one protects your spell concentration.
My hunter is literally glass canon because of the feats.
if anvil boss wasn't a gimmick he would've been dead in 5 turns on my toon attacking it.
I killed him in 2 rounds but then had to reset because I realized there was a gimmick and I couldn't finish him kek
it's the worst kind of boss because he gains immunities mid fight. if he was just fully immune from the get go I'd realise he was a gimmick right away.
>First battle against the goblins outside the entrance to the grove
>Cast Cloud of Daggers
>Eviscerates everything
>Get the inspiration for keeping everyone alive
>Stupid NPCs walk right through it after the battle and die instantly
>Wyll immediately attacks me for murdering Aradin and his friends
I'm laughing so hard, I don't even think I'll bother to reload this shitshow.
OP is a seething tendie
Proof?
4 dips to Battle Master make Barbarian insanely more varied.
Is Eldritch Knight any good?
It's not bad, but unless you invested in INT, you'll only be using utility spells, and even then you're likelly be using mostly utility spells. And if you want utility, Battle Master can do that too while also giving you more damage.
Thought so. I love the concept but it never translates well to gameplay.
There's a 17 INT headband very early on. I assume there's going to be a 22INT one by the end.
If it’s anything like 5e then it’s best with defensive spells like Shield and Blur. Offensive spells will struggle to compete with your weapon attacks but some AOE options are still nice to have.
the guy seething over warlocks is funny because
>fighters
>thief multis
>gloom multis
>beast masters (esp. with spiders)
>storm sorcs
>sword bards
>berserkers
>anything with 2 hand crossbows
>anyone with tavern brawler
>STR monks
>regular monks
>shadow monks
>assassins
are all more powerful
like you have to literally go out of your way to pick something that doesn't dickslap Tactician around
LOL Ganker
please elaborate to us how monks or storm sorcs are good. my next playthrough will be one of these two and i unironically seek wisdom since i dont usually play those two classes
put water
do double damage with lightning bolts and all lightning spells
haste two martials at the same time
literally the most damage multiplying class I have
with monk, take tavern brawler and go STR with heavy armor, rape game. Dex is fine too, just takes longer to reach the same peak.
oh also I think Light Cleric is the best sub but if using a Storm Sorc, bring a heavy armor Tempest Cleric. They can maximize their lightning damage and get lots of spells to use on wet enemies. They can also create water too, so round 1 will look like:
>storm sorc hastes two people (probably two melee)
>cleric in heavy armor goes last-ish, creates water
>storm sorc round 2 nukes the wet foes for 120 damage
>with monk, take tavern brawler and go STR with heavy armor, rape game. Dex is fine too, just takes longer to reach the same peak.
Do you just go full Unarmed only at that point? I've been playing a Shadow Monk all in on Dex with a Staff and it's felt a little lackluster damage wise. I can zipzoop everywhere and have 22 AC, but everything still hits me anyways so what's the point.
Mephistopheles tiefling monks are pretty cool if not good
>yes, I get a flaming sabre that counts as a monk weapon, how did you know?
>Do you just go full Unarmed only at that point?
Yup, tavern brawler adds your STR mod twice and to attack rolls AND +1 STR
so with 20 STR every punch is +10 damage +10 hit and you never miss AND you wear a shield and heavy armor
shit is amazing and they will nerf it to not work with fists, watch
I will have to give it a look then as I'm playing a Duergar so it would fit thematically. Seems like it'll take a lot of points though but I guess that's the point of the Heavy Armor then.
You could take a dip in fighter for Action Surge
How do I add a fourth companion to my party after a companion dies?
I deliberately sent Wyll to his death because he's black but he's still in my party.
i think you're screwed. normally you have to talk to them in the camp and tell them to stay put in the camp, but you can't do that since he's dead.
Talk to withers
>all these people talking about the broken and OP classes
>Wizard is mentioned
is never mentioned*
shit im moronic
Wizard is honestly nothing special because all classes get ridiculous itemization.
level 1 wizard lets other spellcasters scribe scrolls
lmao wizards are useless
>wizards relegated to a used goods subclass that people can just dip into like the town bicycle
God damnit it wasn't supposed to be like this
Is Wizard really that cucked in 5e? Should I respecc into sorcerer if I wanna spellcast? I just wanted to be an evil necromancer homie...
I'm playing a Wizard and having fun but everything I read online ultimately boils down to "there's no reason to pick Wizard when you can just play Sorc and put 1 multiclass level in Wizard so you can eat scrolls"
I respec'd my Gale into a sorc. On Tactician I just don't value CC. It doesn't land often enough, DC gear is scarce as frick, and hasting a martial is the most damaging thing he can do, so a sorc is best at that since he can do it TWICE in one round.
Add to that twinning some Fireballs in between and yeah, sorc wins hands down for me.
Wizard might stand up to sorc if it had a lot of wizard only spells that raped, but it just doesn't.
Warlock >>>>>>> Sorc > Wizard
Warlock so far has been pretty boring though im only level 3. Pact of the blade is cool i guess, but his spells are boring debuffs
Wizard has a really moronic subclass in 5e (bladesinger) but I don't think it's represented in game
Divination also has some dumb shit it can do to spam the one damaging Divination spell since they get slots refunded for casting their favored category of spells
is the game actually woke or not? the only thing i've seen is that you can swap poles and holes but I refuse to believe that any RPG in yool23 wouldnt have feminazi bullshit in it. Need a based rating
see
I feel that anyone who unironically complains about stuff being woke would find the game woke I guess as it has some optional homosexual romances with certain characters. But everything is woke now, so I'm not the best judge of it.
I'm playing as a female tiefling though so my romance is just cute lesbian smut which I guess is woke too as it's gay.
Shadowheart was made to be romanced by a fem drow
Depends on what you consider woke.
The game definitely never preaches amd pretty much lets you do whatever you want, but some people seem to think female martials existing in the setting already means it's woke.
>is the game actually woke or not?
Yes, it's jammed down your throat in just about every single scene. Mostly in soft assumptions the average person is seemingly too stupid or dense to catch or understand. Things like women being exactly the same as men at everything, romance and story dialogue that was written by LGBT incels (I think I'm at #4 already through just act 1 for diaries/journals of some redditor crying about some wife/gf he lost and pleads to have back), cringe dialogue in general where people act like caricatures and stereotypes because woke morons do not understand how real people work, possibly on account of them all being sociopaths who lack any empathy whatsoever and try to emulate it like fricking robots.
As a rule of thumb, LGBT woke morons cannot write worth a damn and it shows in this game at every single moment. Even compared to owlcat it's a fricking travesty of writing. The entire writing team should honest to God be fired from their jobs and replaced with random idiots from Ganker. It would be a monumental improvement. None of the writing even comes remotely close to the shittiest sidequest in BG2.
This game mostly survives off the general gameplay having been refined over a decade and ending up actually fun to play, at least compared to 90% of cRPG's and especially old cRPG's.
Personally this is a 7.5/10 game for me, marred mostly by the bad writing and plot. It's biggest upsides are encounter/level design and game mechanics (although 5e is a really shitty system in general they still managed to make it passable)
There's a Dragqueen in it's in a circus and it's a necromancer who enjoys child suffering.
There's a single gay/lesbian relationship and it's between a cute cleric and an angel like being proving once again yuri is the purest kind of love
Astarion is a metrosexual but why would you not drive a stake through his heart or snitch him out to the Monster anyway?
That's it.
>There's a single gay/lesbian relationship
But you forgot the lesbian relationship of my cute Wizard and Shadowheart
Shadowheart is for a male paladin of vengeance.
Shadowheart is for female shortstack
Some feats are very powerful, but it's mostly for martials.
Sharpshooter, greatweapon master and polearm master are a few you want to keep an eye out for.
Casters mainly want war caster and resilient(constitution) but it's probably better to max out your spellcasting attribute first.
Ganker has stopped being about video games since 2015 and all thats left is mentally ill mexicans pretending to be white supremacists and paranoid schizophrenics who think every other person is transgendered
If you want to talk about video games its not here
Why does underdark have so much more content than mountain pass? Weird that they tell you that you should only stick with 1 but then let still you teleport between the two locations anyways
I thought that was weird too. I did the Underdark first, then did the Mountain Pass expecting it to last as long but it barely has anything.
>Take the hag deal
>switch character
>kill her
>keep ability boost
Neat.
>expecting Ganker to discuss video games
Wrong board.
>smelly nerds get super powers in this fantasy world
>oh wait here are gigachad sorcs who get all the b***hes and can cast Fireball with their sexiness and popularity and without ever having read a single fricking book
it's not fair, wizardbros
>Check Nexus mods
>Only two categories: Cheats and bigger troony dicks
Honestly multiclassing feels like ass in this game, mostly because i dont actually have a clue what im multiclassing into. Unless you look up guides online, which i refuse, i have no clue what im getting if i dip into 2 or 3 levels of something and what im losing from my current class.
Yeah it could really use a preview of what the classes unlock at high levels
It would be nice to have some class preview stuff during character creation. Just the barebones leveling like in the phb would be better than nothing.
yeah, it's a big downgrade there coming from Pathfinder's CRPGs
>$129 in DLC
>riddled in literal spyware until they got pushback
lol, no thanks.
I don't give two shits what you think about that game since the comment was about how they at least give a preview of the class and it would be nice if BG 3 bothered to.
If you aren't literate enough to follow a two post long chain then frick right off.
if you didn't care, you wouldn't reply to me with a wall of text, moron. pathfinder is dogshit.
>idiot can't read two posts and replies with some off tangent shit
>idiot thinks two sentences is a 'wall' of text
actual drooling ESL moron
That is who D&D 5e was made for.
Its made for respec
First time playing anything like this outside of co-op Divinity 2. How cucked am I if I play a solo character? Either want to hammer smash hit with a greathammer or kick shit with a monk
Play monk, you won't regret.
>Want a bard in the party
>Don't want to play one
Reee
Just make someone a Bard then? Gale seems like he'd be an alright Bard.
playing one is pretty baller. Pass all the checks, even the ones you have no points in and have a 10 in the stat in, do shit loads of damage, never use your spells because they miss and all suck (so you just load up on shit like 'talk to dead, talk to animals, misty step, etc'), and there are some gay quippy dialogue choices but there's also a lot of 'Well, let me remember my history of this place' smart man bard dialogue, too.
kill it with fire
I respecced Wyll into one. Been a huge help.
Does Dual Weapon Fighting fighter training apply to hand crossbows?
no, offhand xbows already add the mods as it is (bug)
When is it a good time to multiclass as paladin? I was considering after level 6.
Also I'm considering either fighter for a more martial build or either sorcerer or warlock to get more spell slots and spells.
Any suggestions?
Battlemaster Fighter is always a good multiclass.
Definitely grab Aura or Protection at level 6 before multiclassing.
I haven't given a shit about vidya in a while, and I haven't been paying attention to AI. People are saying AI is going to make the game better. Can anybody give me some examples on how? This might be the first vidya I'm going to buy since Persona 5.
Yeah, I'm not sure if it's 5e, but I feel like in general I'm just not really getting as much in a level up as I would have in older games/editions. It's definitely more streamlined, but I remember increasing my skills, etc. every level up back when I was playing Neverwinter Nights.
What subclass would be good for astarion?
His stats suggest he's made to be AT, but are ATs even good?
Go thief. Getting a second bonus action is busted
>there isn't a single thread actually talking about the GAME aspect of BG3, on the video GAMES board
That and the fact half the threads are about fricking companions should give you a hint as to what people actually bought it for. Got to hand it to Larian, they were very true to living up to Bioware's legacy.
I thought you guys said you could do fun environmental stuff in this. what kind of Huggies dnd sesh is it where I cant push someone down something?
What are you talking about? You absolutely can shove enemies down a shaft if you want.
Just don't expect to be able to push an ogre with a noodle arms wizard though
asiaticmoot ate my image I meant to post this. let me shove this gobbie down the well reeeeee
try throwing him instead, so you can actually aim where he lands.
you can push people off things though. you can also make and climb a stack of 20 boxes and drop clutter on people for moronic damage. hoovering up all the brain jars and glowy things in the ship to use as remote mines is fun too.
Is the Enemy of Justice status effect bug fixed yet? This shit is fricking game-breaking.
I don't even play games. I just shitpost.
Feats not only being just every four levels, but specifically every four levels of a given class instead of every four overall character levels, is actually baffling to me. Is that how it works in the tabletop 5e rules? I feel like feats and attribute increases should be based on character level, not class. A feat every three levels and an attribute increase every four (separate from feats) would have felt smoother in my opinion.
I had a similar issue with Divinity 2's "feats" as well to be honest, a lot of them seemed interesting but you got so few of them that I just went for the "best" ones usually.
>Is that how it works in the tabletop 5e rules?
Yes, that's exactly how it is
That feels bizarre to me. Maybe it's because I haven't played anything later than 3.5e. Was the change to enforce some kind of tax on multiclassing?
From what I understand, it was intended to nerf the part that were too OP from 3.5. It's also the reason why they introduced concentration for buffs.
Yes, technically when you dip you're not even increasing your. There is no such thing as "overall" level. A split level 20 char is actually just two level 10s.
>Is that how it works in the tabletop 5e rules?
Yes, and they're not even fixing it for 5.5e (AKA OneD&D). Wizards of the Coast hates multiclassing because it means they can't sell new hybrid classes/subclasses in game books.
shalom goyim
>every caster is either using the poison robes or the ice robes because after 50 hours there's literally just two options for robes that you find
THIS GAME IS RACIST TOWARDS CASTERS
I need to breed goblin e-girls
Im pissed the only kids you can murder are goblins ( i dont give a frick about goblins but i wanna murder every dick kid like the giths kid that bully you with the magic hand)
can't you throw kids off a cliff?
It feels like Dex is the only stat that matters in this game
STR is better
str is the worst stat actually
Why? I hate going last in combat just so I can jump farther.
Also uynless Im relying on spell damage CHA+INT+WIS feel unimportant
in this game str = pushing, jumping is OP (trade 10 feet of movement for 30-50 feet) especially on monk
I end up questioning why I don't just use a bow and skip 80% of my turn moving at all.
I do, but my monk is just as good as my dual xbow guy.
is Ganker becoming too woke?
yeah, you should leave before it gets worse
I cant let Ganker become woke, im going to fight you
i went from stealing from the toll booth monstrosity to having a drink battle with that other monster until he collapsed after spilling his boss's secrets to convincing a b***h inhabiting a man's body to stab himself half to death before he returns and gets mad at me all within 30 mins
this game is fricking amazing
Anyone else experience companion romance scenes not playing? I got the npc to say they want my dick, we agree to frick, and then it just never happened. The game assumes we're a couple since I can break up with them
did you accidentally check the option to disable them?
>Coming to Ganker for vidya discussion
Are u new?
Remove "BG3" from all those lines, make it about video games in general.
You're now accurately talking about Ganker. This place has been shit for a long ass time and it's never recovering
Based Gankerposters moving on from caring about a children's hobby and talking about more important things that matter to the world and has actual value.
>pick human
>get a FREE shield
>as a ranged guy
>end turn with melee weapon set
>FREE +2 armor
problem, game?
Are Deep Gnomes the best race? Being able to roll twice on INT, WIS and CHA saving throws is pretty great since a lot of the nastier spells target that. Add in superior darkvision and stealth advantage and its a pretty loaded deck - you just take a movement penalty and look kinda silly
I'm not a huge fan that every dialogue scene is at crotch level of all the other characters though.
Someone in the party has to turn this shit into a comedy, why not you? You'll get to also see animations of them kneeling to give you hugs or kisses
>You'll get to also see animations of them kneeling to give you hugs or kisses
I was going to play a halfling and I was wondering if this would happen kek
under the hood they had to have completely fricked the math of probability and modifiers, to the point it ships with coinflipmode "karmic dice" tabbed on by default to frick up the game even further.
>AC of 19? lv2 gobbos keep rolling low? well karmic dice says you get critted every other enemy attack. just the price to pay for your 80% accuracy attacks to hit 50% of the time instead of 20% teehee
damage per turn versus damage per minute, spamming basic attack and heals gets you through a combat encounter faster in real time than attempting fancy shit or save skimming to make it actually work. no sense holding on to a frickoff lv2+ spell when it will miss and make you reload 3 times a turn.
the rest system is gay and tedious, terrible thing to bother transposing into a videogame game loop. you can do them infinitely if you wanted due to stacking 1000 camp supplies in the first act alone. kills all flow to the game and openly violates any stakes the main story pretends to have. just make spells refresh when you leave combat, they're fricking nerfed enough already. you already pop a rest after every combat interaction, it's just shit.
artificial scarcity is a common trope of dogshit D&D modules and this mindflayer erotic fanfiction is no different. not being able to convert your 5000 gold into health potions is fricking dumb, even as the game hands you enough to stack the parties inventory. not like it's because the "grove" has no supplies coming in either, you'll conveniently get new +1 gear to peruse every level up.
the camera cannot handle any verticality whatsoever. at the same time bugs exist in game that have been present for years in the betas
a rebalance mod might literally fix the broken combat math, but for how long they've been making this one for it to release this broken is annoying. for people to say it's superdoopergreat, they have to be playing on journo mode where every roll is a win and combat is as fake as it is gay.
>under the hood they had to have completely fricked the math of probability and modifiers, to the point it ships with coinflipmode "karmic dice" tabbed on by default to frick up the game even further.
>>AC of 19? lv2 gobbos keep rolling low? well karmic dice says you get critted every other enemy attack. just the price to pay for your 80% accuracy attacks to hit 50% of the time instead of 20% teehee
that's not how it works at all, confirmed by Larian
>no trust me bro I know more than them
>confirmed by Larian
have they ever actually explained how it works outside of saying "no lol" to evidence of it being a coinflip?
>we didn't frick up and implement a shitty patchjob to an unworkable system, we just... uh...
if you or the enemy roll too low "too often" it auto wins the roll. the game makes like 4 dicerolls a combat action so guess what fricking happens. it's materially visible through gameplay that if you have a high armor class and high saving throw, you get punished into borderline non viability at the same time it makes you miss the enemy even more.
they fricked up the system, simple as. how they implemented attack rolls, dex/ac checks, and saving throw compounds to throw stated probability out the window. Being able to approach the main quest a lot of ways (but only the main quest) is pretty well designed, but they fricked up on the combat system and didn't devote the resources into fixing it properly.
it's clear the only people saying combat is passable have been cheesing for a year in the early access build or playing in combat off mode just to see their tiefling agendered OC frick an owl bear.
this game is really really easy lol
>t. did not play the EA at all
>heh, F5 F8 or cliff push git gud bruv
>...gameplay?
>he reloads and savescums in combat
lol
>he uses cliffs and loses loot
LOL
LMAO even
t. journo mode Gankeredditor
you're just here to do some ebin trolling, but larian also seemed to realize that saving in combat takes the same amount of time as reloading failed runs. Or they could have made a game that didn't play like shit.
>t. journo mode Gankeredditor
Yes, I know you are. You're having the same trouble with an easy ass game as they are
LOL moron
>
Games journalists agree with you, though? They think it's too hard, like you
LOL
>this mad getting carried by cliffs isn't making anyone treat you like a pro gaymer
bet you pre-ordered too instead of just grabbing the torrent
>it's the same ESL moron as last time whose defense is always "I..I p.p...pirated..i...it"
LOL fricking PACO, of course you did; you have no money. Frick off Taco Monkey.
>seething

>I'm mad because this ESL as bad at vidya for ..reasons
lol git gud, baddie
I heard you can recruit minthara without genociding the grove, is that true? how do
Yeah, I actually feel bad for the (presumably relatively small compared to the shills) anons who actually want to discuss this game. Out of curiosity I checked /vg/ and their thread actually discusses gameplay, wanting to frick the girls, etc. the way a normal Ganker thread would. So you should take your discussion there rather than contributing to shitting up the board with another BG3 thread that will get filled with shill posts and replies from easily baited Ganker users despite your good intentions.
Come back to Ganker for discussion about the game in a couple weeks if you autistically think /vg/ is ultra cancer.
The internet is deadm don't you know? Most threads here are made by marketing bots to fish for outrage.
For my fellow Pirate chads you can join online lobbies if you use the Direct connect code, Had 1 dude in our friend group that bought it and sent us all the files to play
How do I pull off a holy nun Halfing build?
Give me the run down on Monk, never played a game like this before or DnD. I want to play as Akuma and just give everything a fisting.
Feels good early since you attack more than everyone else. Falls off in later levels when everyone else can do the same. Monk is the worst class in paper 5e but there's a lot of boons to be found in equipment in this game. Im sure it's as viable as anything else. Especially since you can rest whenever, you get your ki points constantly
its a glass cannon. you can attack twice per turn right from the start, but youre also a weak b***h that cant facetank. youll usually be using disengage instead of standing around for a 2nd hit. it does feel cool to throw someone on their ass then ip man the shit out of them though.
>"I need something that can break stone!"

>"No, I need something that can break stone!"

Honestly how do you need google to figure that out, I know you're a dumb frog poster but christ
>"We need something to bust us out of here. Don't worry if it's not in perfect shape. Throw them through the bars once you get them."
>Remember seeing a set of withered chiseling tools in a basement earlier
>Hunt them down and bring them to him, then throw them into the cell when nobody's looking
>Nothing happens
>Turns out "throwing them in" just means talking to him and dragging them into the interface, not actually throwing them
>They didn't even work, turns out he wanted a fricking great club that I'd taken from the winged dude in Last Light
That whole sequences felt super janky.
I was actually surprised that you could throw a misty step scroll to the mushroom picker
If i want to play a mainly goody party will i have any problem with
MC Shadowheart Gale and Karlach
Im assuming none of those will have a problem and leave the party if i try to play a non murder hobo style right?
no
Karlach is the most neutral of them but yeah you pretty much have the more moral members of the team aside from halsin and will literally get inspired by anything good/heroic Wyll
Gale, Wyll and Karlach are the good aligned companions. Shadowheart is mostly neutral and Astarion is definitely evil. I'm not sure if Lae'zel would be neutral or evil.
I don't think Lae'zel really cares as long as you don't frick with the githyanki
Well that depends on certain decisions you make
Lae'zel is a b***h but not evil. Probably lawful neutral.
Lae'zel's writer wrote her with Lawful Evil in mind, or so he said on a livestream. But he recanted the alignment thing, even if he basically said the same thing you did, except that Gale is more of a neutral character with a good bent.
Do you get to re-adjust your stats as well if you change mc/companion classes with Withers? Are they gonna screw me over if I started out as a max str max con fighter but want to be a warlock now?
can't change background or race
That's fine I'm satisfied with my appearance just wanted to know if the game was going to pull a Dragon's Dogma on me.
You can also change ability scores when you change your class.
You can change literally everything other than race and appearance
Do backgrounds ever come up in dialogue
I think backgrounds are just there for inspiration points.
The other shit does come up race, class, origins i have seen but i dont think i seen backgrounds
>discussing """"gameplay"""" of a tbrpg
LMAO
LOL
I'm playing on Balanced as a Barb6/Rogue5 and have been absolutely DICKING on every combat encounter with Gale as my pocket haste-er. I'm even in heavy armor and don't get the full benefits of rage just cause i like the aesthetics. dw longswords, btw. Drow poison is also OP as frick. I stunlocked a certain end game boss and his 3 blood cronies just keeping them slept / polymorphed while i 1/2 rounded them with the barb's crit sneak attacks/extra attacks. you can really make some broken shit, even as martials.
>Heavy armor as a barbarian/rogue
Please don't tell me you wasted a feat just to get proficiency with heavy armor.
I did not take the feat, lmao, no. I just wear it and take the penalty
Are the armor proficiency feats bad? I thought I wanted to be better with heavy armor as I was using heavy armor on Shadowheart and I didn't really see anything else I wanted
dios mio
Why would they put a feat in that's really bad compared to others, I don't understand
Lightly Armored is worse than just casting Mage Armor.
Moderately Armored is a pretty good boost from light armor since I believe it gives shield proficiency too.
Heavily Armored is only good if you’re proficient in medium armor but have shit dex for some reason.
Respec her to War or Life domain and she get heavy armor for free. Trickery domain is a meme anyway. Armor proficiency feats are a trap - if you cant get them as part of your class or multiclassing then forget em.
>Trickery domain is a meme anyway
It's a shame to hear that but I feel it fits better with her Shar storyline so far. Feels like it's closer to a Dark Justiciar than anything else
can i keep tricking this guy to fight for me indefinitely for free or is he gonna get wise and eat me
How busted is the Thief Rogue exactly? Can a Great Weapon Master build take three levels of Rogue and get an extra bonus action attack?
can you make a cute Dwarf girl
It's definitely doable, there are are decent faces for them.
She likes it if you massacre the Druid Grove, she's Lawful Evil at the start, but probably moves a bit more towards neutrality as things go on.
I thought this was a roleplaying game, I wanted to roleplay as a mercenary but so far i've been stuck at this awful plot about some cthulhu mind bugs, when do i get the freedom to explore the world and do whatever i want?
RPG =/= Sandbox
Any good RPG needs some level of restriction to deliver an actual plot, otherwise you may as well be playing minecraft
So I can't ignore the main quest and do my own thing instead (like in New Vegas)?
Well one could argue you don't really ignore the main quest in New Vegas - BG3 is no more or less restrictive than that
Once you're off the nautiloid; you can pretty much go wherever you like just like you can do what you like as soon as you leave Mitchell's house
In New Vegas i'm set with the goal of finding Benny, i can ignore said goal and explore the map however i like
In BG3 you're a threatened with this ticking bomb that is the mind parasites (like the water chip in fo1) and if I don't do something about it soon i'll basically die, not to mention that the map so far is been nothing but corridors, how is that "no more or less restrictive"?
>In BG3 you're a threatened with this ticking bomb that is the mind parasites (like the water chip in fo1) and if I don't do something about it soon i'll basically die
you're immune to the transformation so you can take as much time as you want
Still im fricking mad i went to the dark dwarves base , go to rest at camp and the homosexual drow leader did a subterranean allahu akbar and called by my tadworm phone without even talking to the sergeant and trigger nothing
Never also baldur gate city is endgame
>Do the feats seem kinda unwhelming to anyone else?
FRICK yes. I wanted to respec Shadowheart to a life cleric and there is not a single good feat for a pure healer. I ended up with a ASI. I also think it's moronic that we have Crossbow Expert but not Bow Expert.
Then again, they stayed true to 5e so I feel less inclined to complain.
Can't argue with more stats; I'd take that over gimmicky shit
like others have said you would only want warcaster or resilience (con) so you don’t lose concentration
Hot take: DnD rules and setting are trash and Larian is degrading themselves by making WotC licensed junk.
I didn't know you could kill him with the forge hammer, I spent an hour brute forcing it with an army of zombies
I'll be honest the moment I saw his weakness to blunt damage and that the anvil part was still a platform the gears just clicked for me that it was a gimmick fight. No judgement though, half the dudes in my multiplayer group said they brute forced it down in their solo games so it feels like a good chunk of people are not seeing the gimmick
Let Karlach and Laezel chug a strength potion, give them a hammer and let them kick the robot's ass.
Barbarian is fun. I pushed a guy off a cliff then did a flying leap attack down onto him.
I don't know how a person even begins to find this game hard since there's not even character builds. You morons must be multiclassing too much and losing ASIs and feats and extra attacks like dumbfricks
Do I upgrade to the latest nvidia drivers for this game (536.99) Y/N
I see black squares in cutscenes with vulkan and sometimes crash while with dx11 my game performance is significantly worse and more stuttery
When an item gives 'Attack +1' what does that mean?
increases chance to hit the enemy
It means you gain +1 on attack rolls
+1 to hit but not damage.
attack rolls determine chance to hit
damage rolls determine how much damage the hit does
is it possible to side with Ketheric in Act 2 if you're evil?
>Track down Astarion's master
>Oh shit he has nearly 300HP
>He Palpatines my group with lightning
>Oh frick it's over
>He's right by a ledge
>Push him off
Well, that was easy.
>Oh shit he has nearly 300HP
You are NOT ready for Raphael
When is he gonna show up already, damn. I'm about to kill Orin and then I assume it's endgame.
>Warlock is specced to be capable of 3 consecutive shots of Eldritch Blast
>Blast, walk a few steps forward, blast, walk a few steps forward, blast
>Dead
>Teleports back into his coffin too so no loot lost
That was great.
Frick. Be honest with me, is he easier or harder than the level 17 undead dragon?
>Frick. Be honest with me, is he easier or harder than the level 17 undead dragon?
Never fought the dracolich. Raphael has 666 hp and is surrounded with 100 HP cambions that spam scorching rays, he also curses your companion whenever they're down
You need to meet him in the brothel and then go to the warlock shopkeeper and convince her to give you the items required to make a ritual that allows you to get to his dungeon
Bro bosses have more than 300hp in Act 2, are you playing on journalist difficulty mode?
No, I'm playing balanced. Haven't seen anyone like that tbh.
I love how the game allows you to cheese it so much
Me too. I've seen people b***h that shove needs to be removed and that most enemies should resist forced movement but those people can suck my wiener. Punting that robot off the top of the tower in the Underdark, watching him fall all the way down and splatter on the pavement was a really great and memorable moment for me, one that would've been lost had I just surrounded him an caved his skull in like I do most other enemies.
Damn, now I regret not doing the same. I just killed it normally.
>brutally murdering some lonely robot who just wants to recite a play with you
what the frick, anon...
It has a nice spear
Is there anything else to do at that tower besides killing the robots at the top and making Lae'zel mald at some heretical githyanki story?
Getting the mushrooms for the mind flayer merchant to run his tests on you
It's an automaton it doesn't think or feel
Does it work to blunt inmune homies if there are? Fall damage is blunt
Elevation and environmental shit is cool. Enemies do it back to you least on tactician too, lost a guy to a push during the Balthazar fight. Prebuffing being the only real plan and clicking every enemy to death with the only real difference an environment makes is maybe a choke is gay as frick and i had no idea why we have to pretend otherwise. Like crpgs that are on a single axis just seem so ancient now.
I adore misty stepping thunderwaving multiple enemies down to the ground level from their banisters, jaheria thorn whipping a homie down from the big act 2 battle and than my wizard went next launching that tendril spell to hit him and everyone around is something i still think about when im not playing.
It has noce detail like falling to underdark im the first spider pit in the blighted village laughed my ass sawing the cutscene of my character falling to death cause no feather spell
nothing gets the boys chuckling and cheering quite like shoving an enemy to their doom
More if you throw goblins and dwarves alive like furniture
Fly trivializes so much of the game, I love it. Thank you brainworms.
>>Oh shit he has nearly 300HP
>hit with upspelled smite
>change hit into crit
>use reaction crit smite on top of that
bonk -100
How many pieces of mithral and how many molds can be found in Grymforge?
Is rescuing the grand duke on a timer?
If I'm going STR monk, do I just set my DEX to 10? or use the 18 DEX gloves?
Whats the point of a strength monk?
To throw shit with discipline
Omae wa mou shindeiru.
How actually effective is the dex bonus to AC? I want my monk to feel like Daredevil but I keep getting hit by every little shit.
Also Bard lore of the Sword having to use inspiration points for every little thing makes it absolutely terrible. At least Ki recovers with short rests, Inspiration points are not that good to require long rest.
Pretty much any armor option you take caps out around 18-20 with the correct investments, going past that takes magic items
Everyone gets more accurate and AC barely changes at higher levels so HP matters more than armor against strong dudes
One of the reasons druids are so strong in every D&D edition; at mid to high levels your AC simply doesn't matter anymore, only your HP pool does, and druids can inflate that massively compared to everyone else.
Inspirations become per short rest on lvl5
What are our thoughts on the music? IMO it's kinda whatever in this game.
The audio in general is driving me fricking insane. It's mixed like dogshit and I have no idea what the issue is because I've seen videos of EA where it didn't have these issues.
>dialogue randomly missing levels which sounds like it's in a tin can
>sometimes feels like dialogue has no treble / bass
>music is super quiet so I had to turn everything else down
>dice rolls are EAR SHATTERINGLY LOUD
Halsin's microphone quality is all over the place and it's so distracting. But yeah, there's just a general lack of polish to the game, as evident by them pushing out ~500 fixes in under a week after launch.
Looks like early access was an alpha afterall
As per usual for Larian. I expect we will get a "definitive edition" of this game in fall next year and everything until the release of that version is basically still early-access.
You think they re gona do some expansion with more levels like the baldur gate 2 island of amm?
IDK, Larian doesn't typically do expansions. Could be nice though.
Is this release typical for them though? I liked DOS2 but I don't remember it being anywhere near as popular as BG3 appears to be. I assume they may change what they typically do with WotC pushing them for more shit
Dos2 was fairly popular. It sold higher than wotr and had like 7-9k players years after release daily on just steam with videos about it popping into my feed fairly often with 100ks of views.
Obviously bg3 is in another league but dos2 wasn’t like some unknown title. Maybe an xpac but honestly im fine with just this, what the ideal situation is just an assest reuse game with a different adventure like an icewind dale situation
They talked about it in an article but are hesitant because 13-20 might be hard for them to do spellwise, and they want to work on several smaller projects possibly. They also want to return to Divinity Original Sin. Right now the company is working on bugfixing and has no plans.
I really don’t see where they can go with divinty. Divinty2 is so different and weird that it would he weird to continue from dos2 to bridge the gap there, rivellon is so massively different every game theres no cohesiveness to it like i adore some of the older divinty games but I couldn’t fricking tell you what the world looks like thats that different every game. Like honestly its now strange nobody mentioned the void breaching into the world in divinty2 despite that only being like 100 years later. Its fricked. They need to just make another fantasy world with kore thought thais time or how beyond divinty damian is a weird goofball and than hes lord hitler in divinty 2
Any good places to get a solid heavy armor in Act 1? Ive cleared the underdark, mountain pass and all of the first area from what I can tell and the only decent ones ive seen are +2 chain mail from a merchant and the adamantine splint mail I didn't get because some other options seemed better for the party overall.
Can I progress to mountain pass and then go back to do underdark afterwards?
Yes, but I would advise you not to. The encounters will kick your ass and there's not a ton to be gained by doing that.
Meanwhile you dont go to moontower yes
>the show loot button on controller is R3
I know that I only have myself to blame for using a controller but holy shit let me rebind this it is hurting my poor little thumb
Frick off shill
what's the best bloodline for a dragon sorc? Is chain lightning in this game or will I be spamming fireballs?
>what's the best bloodline for a dragon sorc
Fire is everywhere in this game. Take one that is resistant to fire
> Is chain lightning in this game
ye
A fire one is usually better. There are far more spells with fire, so both you and the enemy will be using them more.
Go Silver and use water+electricity.
>saved right before I am going to try to fight Balthazar
>he gave me a bell to summon his brother
If I use that bell on his fight, will that work and I can turn his brother against him? Just curious before I try it.
So I just saved the grove from goblins and now I'm at camp, if I bang Karlach can I get with Shadowheart later or am I locked out?
>videogame based on D&D
It was going to be shit gameplay-wise from the get go
I mean at least it's better than DOS2 and every fight boiling down to hit barrel and drop fire everywhere
My actor feat 20 cha Sorc just told him to kill his minions, his pet, and himself to beat the contract and the moron really did it.
Anya sexo
>Astarion literally misses every hit, ranged or melee and when he hits he does no damage
what the frick am i doing wrong?
Give him salami as weapons
Which weapon are you using? He has a DEX build, so you need to use weapons with finesse.
Also, are you trying to get advantage so you can use sneak attack?
>He has a DEX build, so you need to use weapons with finesse
Some 5-10 shortsword. Thinking of getting dual wield and maybe adding another.
>are you trying to get advantage so you can use sneak attack?
not really no
Shortswords have both finesse and are also light, so you can dualwield them right away without the dual wield feat.
The main problem seems to be you're not taking advantage of sneak attack. Make Asterion attack enemies that are next to one of your allies. This, along with having advantage in the attack roll let's you use sneak attack, which adds additional damage. Sneak attack is a different version of the regular attack, both for melee and ranged, so look for it in your action bar
Isn't the advantage gone after triggering the fight though? Do I only get one of these per fight or can I go invis and then attack again?
Advantage means that you roll 2d20 and keep the higher result. Certain actions can give you advantage, like making the enemy dazed or Shadowheart's clone being close to the enemy.
I can't remember right now all the things you can do to get advantage, but there's plenty.
Rogues can bonus action hide super easily since the game only cares if you're outside of vision cones and often your stealth is high enough to ignore vision cones anyways
Give him a shortsword + dagger and use your stab in the back ability
I'm still in act 1 and sometimes he'll casually do 20 damage and instakill something
You could just use 2 shortswords. Both daggers and shortswords are light weapons.
Honestly I just hate dual wielding but it's 2 swords and not 1 sword + 1 dagger
1 sword + 1 dagger actually worked IRL, sort of.
2 swords has never worked, IRL, ever
and I just can't get over that.
can someone explain how the 'cast again while concentrating' is supposed to work? because i most certainly can not cast the spell again.
does this part of the spell only work if you actually learnt it and arent using an item to cast it?
It puts you in a state of concentrating on that spell. Look at the far right of your toolbar and it should have a recast option. The same place you see the recast option for speak with dead when you use it.
no i feel really stupid, thanks
Check the rightmost part of your action bar. Spells and skills that have a second part that needs to be activated separately usually go there.
>As for the possibility of fan-made expansions, Vincke didn't go into detail on plans for mod tools, but did tell me that mod support is "going to improve dramatically" after the PS5 version is released.
At LEAST a month to go for mods....
This was fricking insane. Shame Slayer is just kinda okay.
>Go through all of this
>Bhaal names me his champion
>My reward is Power Word: Kill and I can only use it once
Thanks Dad.
game just crashed and i dont remember when the last time i saved
how often should you camp btw
I usually only long rest when I'm out of short rests, out of spell slots and also low on hp. But most people long rest more often than that.
I played for like 10 hours and maybe only camped 2 twice. Honestly i feel like i should be long resting a lot more often just for the story beats

THE RIVERRRRRRR
I keep seeing this and I have no idea what it's in reference to
The game's theme song
I'll chalk it up to all the audio issues I've been having as I spent about 45 minutes in the character creator but don't remember any music at all. The only theme I really notice is the one on game startup if you wait a bit and the chanting starts
>OOOOUUUUHHHHHH
>OOOOUUUUHHHHHH
>BRAAAAAAPPPP
>he didnt spend an hour+ in the character creator deliberating choices
ngmi
havent played it yet, plan on playing bg1+2 first
I mean
+10 damage on each melee hit from GWM is nothing to scoff at
opportunity attack on incoming enemies from polearm master also seems great
so do free retaliation when teammates get hit from sentinel
It's sad that martials get all the fun feats.
these fricking gloves just give the enemy an attack aura with friendly fire.
i guess the only use would be if you are fighting a lot of melees that are standing close together.
anyone else got stuck on the hag at the swamp god dam might have to respec my wiz
How many Ilithid powers can I redeem before I frick stuff up?
Zero. Don't use any or you are doomed. Any teammates using them are also doomed. Don't put worms in your head.
[PREFERRED PRONOUN], DO NOT REDEEM
There's no fricking up
You even get the choice to become an "half illithid" and the only downside is black veins in your face. I guess the point of no return is when you are asked if there's a volunteer to become a Illithid willfully and then again you just say no
You can just say no*
