Actually, Crossover Shroom would be a million times useful because I was playing as Tails last. So I get to fly over most of the hazards (at least on open levels) and I get 20 extra lives to play with.
Although maybe moon shroom/checkpoint shroom would be more useful at that point
it eliminates pits but you have to deal with an entirely unnecessary extra part of the level that's even more difficult, and if that has pits then does it just end up looping forever? doesn't seem like a good trade-off to me.
