there really isn't much changed. you can still switch between the ost and radical dreamers whenever you want, and you also get the bonus radical dreamer original game

The bloomers are only added in the new graphics mode; if you use the old graphics mode the model still has the panties.
The new fonts are mandatory regardless of graphics mode though.

i love chrono cross and i love the new artwork but youre basically just paying like $30 for new portrait art for a ps1 game that came out in 1999 that was ported to steam. its up to you whether or not you think thats worth it
buy another physical used compete copy. I think it's worth more than the original disks. it's hard to come by actually decent remastered games. few and far between

Star Ocean 2 R is a remake but it's a great one, it's a completely different class to this shit.
SaGa Frontier was a remaster that actually had effort put into it.
OK. I totally respect both of those. crono cross was a shit game to begin with, but it's still fun. it isn't as good ss legend of legaia, but it's still worth playing.
Chrono Cross is one of my favourite games so I'm especially mad at how little effort they put into the remaster.

It kind of does. Radical Dreamers is like the prototype to Chrono Cross. The whole sequence of Vipor Manor is directly from Radical Dreamers, though with lots of small differences.
What's actually weird is that Radical Dreamers has it so that Magil = Magus explicitly. But when Chrono Cross came out they got rid of that association in game, partly because they didn't want everyone drawn to Magus when it has a large cast of characters. So they just call him Guile and never bring up anything about him and Kid/Schala the entire game. Then when they re-released Chrono Trigger on the NDS, and added in this whole optional end sequence that has Magus time travels and loses his mind, ending up as Guile in Chrono Cross.

How would you fix Cross's plot? I think the easiest thing to do would be to axe all the attempted Trigger tie-ins and just have a piece of Lavos in the dead sea as the source of all the frickery. Then Crono and friends can show up to Serge's time like they do the different times in Trigger to help fight Lavos. Then in NG+ you could recruit them.
I'd fix it by nixing anything to do with chrono trigger, and making it an original game with its own story

As far as Square Enix remasters/remakes go this one isn't the best. I'd emulate unless you really want to piss around with the graphic novel portion of it.
Saga Frontier, Tactics Ogre: Reborn, Live A Live, and Star Ocean 2 have the stand outs.
