almost every armor, weapon, and perk in new vegas has its own vault boy icon. fallout 4 has icons for its perks (of which it has fewer than new vegas) but otherwise soulless 3d renders for its items... there are actually more vault boys in new vegas than 4. we lost, brostheda.

one of the side quests in new vegas is finding new acts for the Tops casino. one of the performers you pick up is a singer-songwriter who's camped out on the road to the city. he's a guitarist who wrote a few original songs in-universe
these don't play on the radio, you have to go to the casino itself when his act is on to listen to them. it's a lot of effort to go through to add some authenticity to your setting.

I didn't know that they actually did this in Fallout 4 until this year. Like everyone else, I installed CONELRAD for New Vegas because I wanted more music for the radio. Here's the thing: it turns out that there's not a lot of good songs about atomic bombs or uranium, and the few that there are don't add any depth to the experience of playing the game. It's funny that Bethesda thought this was a good idea. It's not as if Fallout 4's defining feature was also taken from a well-known fan mod with hundreds of thousands of downloads. Oh wait, it was.
The real GOAT of radio mods is the Secret Stash, which adds a radio station with all the songs that New Vegas's side quests are named after:

new vegas is basically a generic apocalypse game obsidian conned bethesda into adding the Fallout name to, it has barley anything to do with the setting and breaks a lot of the lore of 3, just ignore it, the show (thankfully!) made it not canon anyway.
