Classic Mac games, free on itch.io & web

Nanosaur Extreme: https://jorio.itch.io/nanosaur
Nanosaur 2: https://jorio.itch.io/nanosaur2
Bugdom: https://jorio.itch.io/bugdom
Bugdom 2: https://jorio.itch.io/bugdom2
Spectre VR (browser based): https://spectre3d.com/web-alpha/

I'd include Marathon but everyone already knows about Aleph One. Have fun, all 12 of you with nostalgia for these games. Of the lot, Nanosaur 2 seems to hold up the best imo.

It was great, even the hockey puck mouse evokes fond memories. Definitely the coolest computer you could have in 1998

I was making Marathon 2 levels in Forge. I didn't even play them. I just liked building shit, it's zen. Not being able to have more than 8 walls per sector made it a real challenge to make realistic places like home or school

The true Nanosaur experience was that your friend always walks up and presses all of the F-key cheats in a row then you watch the credits roll.

Bugdom scared the shit out of me as a kid. Might actually try it again since it’s here.

I've got a 166mhz Power PC Mac with a 8mb ATi 3d card laying around
I'm familiar with a lot of the 68k era Mac exclusives, but not really the Power PC era.
Any recommendations of stuff to check out beyond the games listed in the OP?

Does anyone remember a beat-em-up demo on a MacAddict that used photos for players/enemies, and had a sort of urban chinatown theme with lots of animated flames and shit in the main menu? I remember playing it a lot circa 2000 and never found it again.

Squirrel Kombat is nostalgic as well

IIRC some guy requested the source from the original devs to port it to modern platforms and they agreed to publish it like that, so it's all on github now.

I played through Bugdom last year and modified it so it wouldn't decrement the life counter when you died. The last couple of levels are tricky. We had Nanosaur at school as well but I don't remember playing it. The only thing I'm missing from my childhood now is Zoombinis.

I used to play Bugdom at the local library sometimes. Thanks for unlocking an old memory. There was a good chance I never even knew the name of this game
