I struggle to understand how this is any worse than TotK.
shouldn't it be
>I struggle to understand how this is any better than totk mr or ms will save gaming
none said its "worse", its exactly same which is pretty embarrassing, had no idea that Todd took inspiration from game aimed towards 7 yo audience
That's a 7, not a 2.
yep its a 7
thats clearly a 7 Todd, you are such a lying little c**t.
>video game is a video game
>NOOO I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING I COULD THINK OFF IN THE NEW RPG WTFFFFFFF
bro, they trying to sell us skyrim for the 5th time
there are no guns nor spaceships in skymeme
Didn't you know that the Starfield land rover reuses Skyrim's horse animation rig?
I did not. Thank you for letting me know, anon
oblivion's which is reused by skyrim. skyrim is just watered down oblivion which is watered down morrowind but you gays call every new bethesda game a variant of skyrim.
Nope, I am VERY much aware of that fact.
I don't think Bethesda will be brazen enough to flat out reuse animations from Oblivion/Skyrim THIS time around, but then again... it's Todd.
His audacity knows no limits.
there were mods that add dwemer spaceahips and guns
>there are no guns in sk-
>cave
>dangerous creatures
why bethesda games so unoriginal?
I hate gays like you
>CLEAR THE AUSMURIANS FROM NEBULAR 7, OF THE WULBACHIA GALAXY FROM THE PRECIPICE OF DOOM
Nobody likes that shit
because its fun
homo
Can't wait to clear all those draugr ruins
tfw the 'planet' is just a cave or some lame shit like that
>land on planet
>YOU CAN DO ANYTHING
>keep walking in one direction
>invisible wall after 1 km
It was confirmed that planets generate all the way if needed, so you can walk around al long as you wish.
>that planets generate all the way
So, most planets ARE procedurally generated? That makes Todd's lies about 150 open world planets much less impressive. Because "procedurally generated" means "very dull and empty".
All planets are procedurally generated, then you go in by hand to touch up many of them for scripted/hand place content. Then the rest of the planet is secondary generated quests/content like monster caves, abandoned mines and bases etc. So if you keep walking, there will be "content" to see but its going to end up being the same copy paste stuff
How fricking riveting.
>very dull and empty
just like space
this is why we have videogames, real life is dull and empty
You know the picture "empty space = meaningful content"? Empty space is generated, and meaningful content is handcrafted, put at random places.
Knowing Bethesda, they will leave that handcrafting to players. That wouldn't even surpise me. Bethesda was leaning hard onto this "simulationist experience" where they just give players tools and players make their own fun.
Why would they bother to design companions, for instance? It's costly, and fans wrote entire backstory for a pack mule known as Lydia for them.
1000 EXPLORABLE PLANETS
990 DRAUGR CAVES
i believe planets will be open but mostly empty and uniteresting, after all whole space is like that except for earth
You'll probably have maybe 5 planets that are handcrafted with some actual memorable locations, the remaining 145 ones will be empty, procedurally generated shit with random quests. Because it's fricking Bethesda, and it's virtually impossible to make a game that Todd is selling on current gen consoles, so you have to prepare yourself for a single-player MMO.
>12 years later we're still clearing draugr caves
oh Todd
can you manually land on the planets like in star citizen or it's basically like in kotor?
no, you just fly to planet and choose where you want to land (industrial or civilian outposts) then theres cutscene with your ship landing
There is no landing sequence. You just land in a cutscene or via fade to black.
It's fallout 4, but the base you build is a "spaceship" that will magically cutscene fast travel between different procedurally generated square maps.
yes, ignore other replies. they confirmed you can choose a manual place to land when you watch the showcase. But there is pre-selected spots they want you to use.
>when you watch the showcase
Do you know what "manual landing" is?
fallout 76 added the ability to place your base anywhere and save it as a blueprint to paste. anyone saying it's predetermined isn't looking at systems bethesda can lift from the GaaS they've been adding to for the last few years
carbonated beverages in zero gravity is a bad idea
What exactly do you want to do on 1000 planets, anyway? Do you want 50 hours of content there so you do two of them and then drop the game? They're going to be like a cave in Skyrim or a building in Fallout because you're supposed to be flying around to different ones.
In Stellaris, a planet is basically the same thing as one single tile in Civilization. They are making this game with 1000 planets and then immediately following it with a game that takes place in one region. It's all about perspective.
I mean, they are going for Daggerfall IN SPACE. So if you don't like the procedurally generated time wasters, this game is not for you.
It's just daggerfall. Daggerfal also had ship that worked as fast travel base. There is no "space" in starfield. I don't consider NMS to be a space game, but this is hitting new lows.
>I don't consider NMS to be a space game
I don't consider it a good game but how the frick is it not a space game?
Because of all the dishonest shit. Planet is a flat voxel layer that is curved on the graphics engine level. Space transition is not seamless, it just loads and switches different models. Atmosphere layer is paper thin, still covers you in fog to hide loading etc etc. It's basically space themed minecraft. Space feels super fake.
what tier of laziness is this
this is like "so lazy you end up doing more work to avoid something that would be less work"
lmfao
i want a good game, todd trying to sell the game that doesnt exist, he is gaslighting potential buyers with things that exist only so he could say in trailer >we have 1000 planets
>In Stellaris, a planet is basically the same thing as one single tile in Civilization.
moron
What's the problem?
If I could I would hire a spaceship of hero's to clear out some israelite monsters from caves on our world well.
skip the game and read the culture series instead Gankerros
Thread theme:
>here is your spaceship
Its funny we have all this shit, but no land vehicles to explore a planet. Its clear they still do alot of tricks to make what we are seeing work
I bet once the games out people will find out the ships just use draogn ai like the bats in 76.
You mean the vertibird AI
The enemy drop ships definitely use the vertibird AI. Spawn in, fly down, drop out soldiers. Todd said he had a moment where once it landed, he ran off, and it took off into space. So he is either lying that the game doesn't have real ground to space transitions, or lying that he didn't see a load screen doing that boarding
>once it landed, he ran off, and it took off into space
He's not lying the model just flew up and then despawned while he was walking around on the ground
I meant ran in, as in when they dropped off soldiers he ran inside. It was in the IGN video
?t=919
Other devs would be capable having the world unload and then load the space skybox. Can Bethesda? doubt but one he finished his fight and wanted to travel back to his ship/another planet guaranteed a loading screen.
Speaking of that
BECHESDA HIRE THIS MAN
pls shitpost more with this video
Ahahah, lol
What the FRICK
Cool
>dangerous creatures
are there really straight white men in todds new game?
not sure if i can support that kind of product to be tbh
I’m literally a regarded rat because I love a well designed Skinner box.
I WILL clear out a generic dungeon for the chance at slightly better gear and crafting materials as long as the game looks good, feels good, and the world is interesting.
what if the game looks bad, feels bad, and the world is dull and lifeless
Then Todd wins anyway, because you've bought the game.
>implying
I ain't even gonna pirate this shit
you dont have a pc capable of running poor Black person
perhaps not, but I'm not even going to bother finding out
*licks you*
Then I won’t like it.
In my opinion Skyrim looked good and the world was very interesting with all the lore and stuff. So was Oblivion and even Fallout 4 to an extent. The gameplay trailer looked breddy gud, and while the factions seemed a little cheesy they still looked engaging.
>land on an unhabitable planet
>why is this planet so empty!!!!!!
morons.
You should feel blessed that you even get to experience this game in your lifetime.
The planets feel like planets. If you were teleported to the moon right now, would you whine about how there's not a bunch of buildings? No! You would have fun because you get to explore. I don't understand how people can even criticize the fact they created over 1000 planets where you can feel that same excitement as if you were able to explore the moon.
But you can do it 1000 times!!!!
>same excitement as if you were able to explore the moon.
The most honest shill. 1000 empty rocks in space is what you'll get Bethetards
>If you were teleported to the moon right now, would you whine about how there's not a bunch of buildings? No! You would have fun because you get to explore.
Yeah, and you would get bored in like an hour. The game will feel the same.
I dunno, people are replaying the same 5 Skyrim dungeons to this day, imagining they are telling themselves a riveting story.
>bored in like an hour
>Starfield gives you 1000 planets
>1000+ hours of fun
Sounds pretty fricking based. Thanks for agreeing that Starfield is going to be revolutionary
>be chef
>kill alien
>eat alien
Todd Howard catering to the gordon ramsey in space fantasy
At the very least it will now make sense that the microfusion powered torches are still burning.
Reminder that TotK nintendies are making these threads about 30fps and content bloat, with zero self awareness lmao
Heh, nice find.
I wonder wether it's automatic through exploration (shit) or if it's a marker for a quest that player has picked up. (fine)
