Hi Anon,
here are some of my favorite co-op games. By co-op I mean games, that you can play together from start to finish, no versus games. Not gonna mention Beat Em Ups, since there are too many of them and I don’t enjoy them that much.
>SNES
Secret of Mana
Secret of Mana 2
Secret of Evermore (with 2-player hack)
Zombies ate my Neighbors
Pocky and Rocky
Goof Troop
>PS1
The Lost Vikings
Herc's Adventures
Future Cop: LAPD
Legend Of Mana
Jedi Power Battles
>Dreamcast
Cannon Spike
Gauntlet Legends
>GC
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
>PS2
The Warriors
Obscure 1 & 2
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 & 2
Champions of Norrath
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
>Multi Platform:
Any Tales of game that had a co-op feature
Am I missing some?

light gun games are the best co-op games and are enjoyable for anyone. also cookie and cream.
We also have:
>Arcus Odyssey (action game with exploration and a few adventure elements)
>Bio Hazard Battle, Life Force, Gradius V, Gradius Gaiden, Otomedius, most games in the Parodius series, Twinbee series, Dodonpachi and I guess most shootemups by Cave or Psikyo... (shootemups)
>Contra (action and platforming, there might be exceptions, but the ones I have played include co-op).
>Shining Tears (action rpg that plays a lot like Gauntlet. Several playable characters, but player 1 will always control the main hero. Kinda justified, given that you can pair him with other characters).
>Grief Sydrome (Madoka magica fangame. Action and some platforming. Up until thre players).
>Bubble Bobble and most of its clones (Snow Bros, Rodland...)
>Am I missing some?
Yes. For the SNES Firepower 2000 and Contra III are good, but hard. There is also a plethora of sidescrolling beat'em ups, like Knights of the Round, Final Fight 3 etc.
Anon, this board is mainly used by zoomers with no friends, you won't find good answers here.
You're missing NES games like Chip'n'Dales 1 and 2, Contra, Super C, Shadow of the Ninja, Wai Wai World 2, etc
If you're gonna include FFCC why not FSA? Nobody ever plays them cause the shitty cable and extra GBAs needed are too hard to get.
FSA is probably the best multiplayer co-op experience I've ever had. I still have the whole setup but haven't played in almost 20 years because nobody lives close by enough any more.
I feel you my man. I just watch videos of it and imagine I have friends and the set up to play it. People who talk about Mario Party destroying friendships have never played FSA.
I feel lucky i got to play it back in the day with up to four players with neighbors. Fortunately I had gotten one 3rd party gba link cable, one that came with Nintendo Puzzle Collection and one that came with FSA and i guess someone else must have had a 4th. Also had a GBA SP and regular GBA so that helped. I only got to play the original Four Swords recently this year and it surprised me how its pretty different then the sequel, especially with the fact you can play it with only 2 Links.
Gunstar Heroes?
Not a Genesis fan then?
Pretty sure someone else will add more.
Bubble Bobble
Sonic 2/3
Joust
Toejam and earl
Akari Warriors
Super smash tv
Double dragon
Battle toads
Aerofighters fighters
Lego star wars (PS2)
Jet force Gemini
>Sonic 2/3
As someone who grew up being player 2, these are the worst co-op games.
Poor Tails just can't keep up.
Don't forget Rampart! The SMS had a decent 2p version. A friend of mine was big on North vs South for NES also.
Legend of the Mystical Ninja for SNES and Chew Man-Fu for TG16. Chew man is under appreciated, very fun action/puzzle game, sort of like bomberman except you’re pushing around giant marbles. +1 for Goof Troop, that is a classic co-op game. I’ve successfully got a couple people who barely play games to play through to the end of it with me.
Seconding Mystical Ninja. The town sequences with the minigames are fun with two people too.
Ganbare Goemon 2 is the best co op game on SNES and a great platformer over all.
Guerilla War (NES)
Lode Runner was pretty fun in co-op.
Thanks Anon for your games. Sadly, I think I am slowing running out of good quality co-op games, that are deep enough to care about. I just love going on a journey together, within the game, I mean. There are not many new games that give the feeling of Secret of Mana, playing with two other people.
the Super Chinese series starting with 2 are a series of A-RPG with co-op if that's what you're looking for, but those games won't be for everyone
wild guns for snes
Lost vikings 1 and 2 are better in snes.
Pic rel and it's sequel
Darkwatch is a good one
PC Engine
>detana twinbee
>bonk 3
>schubibinman series
>chiki chiki boys (unlike megadrive version)
>cadash
>dungeon explorer 1 and 2
>parasol stars
>river city ransom
there's a lot more but a good start
and a little known fact, the port of forgotten worlds DOES support co-op, but its only a code where other person controls the satellite (probably a lot more helpful tbh)
I used to love Cadash on arcade but the Genny version looked superior so stupid kid me never played the PCE version. Have you compared it aside from being 2p of course?
