Collection Storage Discussion

How do you guys store and display your collections, have you found any products intended for storing other items that are just the perfect size for storing retro vidya stuff, if so please share! I'm gathering ideas for stuff to grab, I've heard cool ideas in the past like storing old consoles in ammo boxes. Any good storage items for storing original gameboy games?

Interested in this as well, don't know why I didn't think to make a thread like this sooner. Also interested in organizing game-adjacent things like magazines, which always seem like a pain in the ass no matter how I try to arrange or store them.

I put them on my shelf, and I pack them away if it's for a console I don't have hooked up at the moment.

A word of warning to anyone thinking of buying cheap shelves: the average retro game weighs more than you think.
A single CD israeliteel case is around 100 grams. A 7*10 stack on a single shelf would be 70kg, the weight of an average adult. A cubic metre of the damn things weighs around half a ton.

I eventually just put all my boxes and games in storage containers. I used to keep the boxes on wire rack shelving, but it took up too much space and made the game room uncomfortably stuffy. Wish I had room to keep them out on shelves, but I have a handful of arcade cabs and a console setup in there, so it just wasn't feasible.

I don’t. I stopped collecting because it’s a mental illness. Like, I get it; if SHTF, war breaks out, online services stop, internet is spotty, yeah, having that huge collection of magazines, games, consoles, etc is awesome. But but some flash carts and odes serve me better these days honestly.

Is anyone ever going to play or use 90% of those games on that shelf?

The point of having a library is the same as your father getting with your mother. Broad selection

I know I and a lot of other people store them in card brinders.
