YOUR FEAR AND HELPLESSNESS IS YOUR BEST FRIEND YOU SAVAGE!
Is there any hope for EA making a next C&C game?
Or will we have to make it ourselves?
Nah. Remasters are the only remotely decent thing going on for most RTS games that aren't Blizzard ones.
>Is there any hope for EA making a next C&C game?
I don't get how you can ask this question about EA. I mean you do know who EA is, right? You do remember what they already did to C&C games, right?
>B-B-BUT THEY REMASTERED THE FIRST GAME
Is that all it takes for you to forget?
Actually there are at least 20 different RTS being develop right now, i follow that number every single year and the spike is crazy, it seems we might have a comeback of RTS of some kind, so i would say there is a probability EA is also already on the work for something C&C related, not sure if an RTS tho. Another factor is that EA has had a very bad year compared to 2022 and before, normally when that happens they start thinking about their niches.
If EA made another Renegade game I'd orgasm on the spot.
Yes, I know about the cancelled one.
That would be amazing, but in terms of investment a Renegade server would be too much of a crazy move for EA at this point, the whole idea of a Renegade game today with tanks, building bases, AI etc...its an undertaking that would be to massive to EA to do right now (they are a monetization first company now) and both to expensive. So i wouldnt wait for that. Now you can be sure they will mik us with RA2 and Tiberian Sun remastered soon enough im sure, and also maybe depending on how RTS scaled in the next 2 years a new one for the series, who knows. But i doubt they would be ready to undertake what a Renegade game would be, not likely
> there are at least 20 different RTS being develop right now
Which ones look interesting in your opinion?
i'm looking forward to legally distinct command & conquer from 3d realms
I hope it's fun
>owned by Embracer Group
bruh
still in development apparently, their team seemed unaffected
certainly not stormgate, it looks so fricking shit despite every influencer on the planet hyping it up

SOVL
I remember that map. That's the Grand Canyon map.
Based. Game looked like shit, but the soundtrack and gameplay still made it great.
i think the visuals have aged nicely now that you can play at higher resolutions
Im happy to see people warm up to Sun finally, it got a lot of hate back in the cycles i moved in back in the day.
i remember i was disapointed but i cant remember why
Tiberian Sun literally shaped my childhood and adolescence, along with heavily modded OFP.
I am most upset that I have lost my physical TibSun box with the thick as frick (by modern standards) guide book with all the unit descriptions and background lore translated in my language. I still have the CD´s somewhere though.
I first played RA2 15 years later and was not really impressed.
shame that and Red Alert 2 aren't getting any remastered versions.
That's because the source code for those two are gone. They'd need to be remade from the ground up.
TD and RA1 were easy to remaster. Doing it right for TS and RA2 would require actual talent and plenty resources. It'd be WC all over again.
Side note: I do like playing RTS games at modern resolutions - being able to fit all but the biggest maps entirely on screen is really handy.
everything gets too microscopic for me at 4k. I play at 1080p with 2x integer scaling instead. might try with my living room tv at native 4k one day.
God I love the aesthetics of Tib Sun.
TS is the fricking goat. Such a banging soundtrack.
why do zoomers love this game so much?
it was the 2nd most hated C&C game back in the day, only behind the online-only battle royale game that came out in 1997
Do you genuinely believe that zoomers even know what an RTS is?
>We're going to have to act... on instinct
>I'm a mechanical man!

No, I will not.
Basically an "I Win" button for the Allies.
they are the Allies. did you expect them to lose against red color guys? pff
yeah but what if i do this
>so much drones
>got 1 flak, 1 V3 ro V4 whatever and some low value infantry
>no buildings
>failed to finish off tesla coils
you lost more money than enemy without infliting any critical damage
>Using shit mods
Leave
>That moment when you realize that the Soviets were the good guys all along.
Just like in real life
Leaving a single russian alive was a mistake.
At least based ukies are fixing that mistake.
>Allies victory in RA1 leads to RA2, and their victory in RA2 leads to RA3 which ends in a world dominated by a megacorp
>Soviet victory in RA2 leads to world peace under a united communist government, complete with humanity expanding into SPACE
I don't remember what happened in the RA3 Soviet victory epilogue, and Soviet victory in RA1 somehow leads into the Tiberium timeline; still, that's 1/3 good ending compared to the Allies' endings.
Basically after the Red Alert 1 Soviet victory Kane engineers the collapse of the Soviet Union more or less as it happens in real life, then Tiberium is discovered in Italy and CNC 1 happens.
Yeah, but why does Tiberium only appear in that timeline? It's not like in C&C3 where he intentionally lured the GDI to particle cannon'd his temple containing liquid tib bomb just to lure in the Scrin, this is saying that he somehow called in an asteroid containing Tiberium with Cold War/early 2000s technology.
Kane works in mysterious ways.
PEACE THROUGH POWER
IN THE NAME OF KANE!
KANE LIVES IN DEATH!
IN THE NAME OF KANE!
Based.
IN THE NAME OF KANE
I guess. PEACE THROUGH POWER.
I liked how they took a random dev from the office and said "Hey you're bald, you'll make a good villain"
He was the director who made test videos of himself, not just some random dev. They put his videos before the missions and the testers said what they remembered most was "the bald guy yelling at me".
Still not an actor, thus "random dev"
he was one of the project leads
It also appears in the allies ending but kane realizes the current world layout isnt working out for him so he scoops it up early and hides it for later.
>I don't remember what happened in the RA3 Soviet victory epilogue
RA3 is rushed, so you just defeat the allies, japanese and the soviet leadership. Then you get greeted as the new premier by the people. They dont show anything else since time ran out
>Completely breaks the game balance.
>Completely fixes the game balance.
you will never see Yuri win a Pro tournament
I loved using psycic towers and griding the units for money to fund my boomers
I wish they made a new Red Alert that was as good as Red Alert 2 was
>Proudly presents
I miss when game companies took pride in their work instead of pride to their work.
no, I won't. Because you have posted a braindead modification. There is states in the corner
>Mental Omega Beta
this is who you are, OP, for posting and playing garbage.
RA2 and Tiberian Sun original are really good videogames. That's not even up to discussion.
I searched "Red Alert 2 base" on google and picked the first good image to have a proper hook for the "will defend this" pun and have never played modded RA2 in my life anon, but keep seething about details
For me, it's RA1
My secret strategy (apart from sell motherbase & rush) in c&c generals was to build 10 nuclear reactors and pause them all at 99%.
Then un-pause all and watch my homies face when he got the audiomessage "WE LOCATED AN ATOMIC BOMB" x 10
He had 5 min to win the game. he did not. my greatest accomplishment.
>a strategy that requires you and your friend to play on the same map for over 45 minutes without ever scouting eachother
Haha takes me back. It’s not even a strategy, it’s just something you do when you decide to end your pacifist basebuilding session on a joke
Why did they stop the remaster
Vol 2? They never started
Petroglyph had multiple projects on their backlog (9 Bit Armies, their then canceled FPS/RTS game, and their WW1 game); Aside from that, the only EA producer who handled C&C IP moved on to Respawn recently, and as a result, shit didn't get any traction.
>all infantry are individual soldiers rather than squads
yeah I think I'll stick with tibwars
>Infantry is fricking useless in Tibwars.
you say that but what would you put into a hammerhead if there was no infantry?
I can't get over the fact that someone okay'd these guys being fully armoured everywhere but their head.
To be fair to TibWars they changed that in the final product.
>jacked off and good to go!!
Just what the hell is in those Red Zones that they have to make a Tank like this? Aren't they supposed to be devoid of life? Aren't Tiberium based life extinct by the time of Tib War 3?
Outside of Nod and Forgotten forces, you have giant Tiberium mutants that can tear through Mammoth like it's nothing. I still remember the giant jellyfish and that Sarlaac knock off.
Mutants and ion storms. You also had veinholes but they got conveniently removed
Environmental details in Tiberium Wars imply that the Vein Holes were driven extinct by Tiberium's changing nature and used to spread the crystal.
Tiberium saga was the peak of Westwood
Dune? It's in its own league compared to all the others
it was a fun little game ngl
Is it still alive? Do people play it still? Is it even available for download?
We are going to have to ACT
If we want to live in a different world
>Tfw can't feel like playing it anymore as IRL vatBlack folk have shown that they are incapable of waging modern war
Why not go C&C Generals route and make China into an opponent again?
Because China has money and massive market value.
China were the good guys except that one mission where some chinks get in kahoots with GLA
Nod = infantry mastery
GDI = vehicle master
TANK RUSH, KANE IS A LOSER
Who was the guy that thought it'd be a good idea to have the grenadier explode when he dies? Why would he explode? Does he have Martyrdom?
Makes then more satisfying to kill with flame tanks as they do this particularly enjoyable firecracker sound when killed.
>mental omega
No way gay.
I've long since gotten tired of pretending this was a shit game. It was fun.
I don't remember anyone calling it shit. Zero Hour especially is incredibly beloved
>tfw you're German and your suicide bombers were little RC cars
The german version also canonically had all units be cyborgs so it doesn't depict human deaths iirc
I think I recall all the general portraits being cyborgs too
I think I had a version that was made before that particular change, cause my dad somehow got a copy called C&C Generals instead of C&C Generäle
But yeah C&C 1 definitely had all robot soldiers. I was like 8 when I played it so I never paid that any mind
I member though, keep in mind said time period of people calling it (and Zero Hour) shit was when it was the latest shit though and people thought its existence meant no more Tiberian or Red Alery games, and you know, the usual close post-9/11 discourse shit about MUH TERRORISM and shit related to that..
Not to say it didn't have fans, but there was also definitive hatedom for a good couple of years there and i'd say it until around when RA3 released for it to not be considered a punching bag by default when i discussed CnC here.
I think the initial hate for Generals was because it was the first Command & Conquer released after Westwood's liquidation:
https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/337524
Switching from MCVs to command centers also probably gave people the initial impression that EA was shifting towards something more mainstream, I guess.
>Switching from MCVs to command centers also probably gave people the initial impression that EA was shifting towards something more mainstream, I guess.
I dunno why people had that impression back then. It's not like MCV and Command Centers are different in that regard compared to let's say C&C 4 which eschewed the base building almost entirely. Besides, the construction units allowed for relatively in-depth gameplay compared to the usual click-and-drop menu from the old games.
Other than that I kinda get why people were so standoff-ish with the game; War on Terror era, 5 minutes into the future C&C game, early 3d C&C game, the fact that it was played with the lack of FMVs, the new factions and like you said, post-Westwood, was too foreign of a change for fans at the time.
>something more mainstream
funny thing to say considering C&C was really the most mainstream RTS game
Generals took things from the Blizzard style of RTS, added builder units and production buildings inside of the sidebar, but this is objectively better than the way original C&C did things
>funny thing to say considering C&C was really the most mainstream RTS game
Honestly wouldn't know if it was considered mainstream or not, just made a guess based off of how many RTS vidya I've come across with the command center and builder unit dynamic.
>but this is objectively better than the way original C&C did things
Personally prefer the MCV system but I'm not knocking other games that use the aforementioned dynamic, it's fine.
C&C was the breakout RTS game that made RTSes the most popular genre of video game and even made people who don't usually play video games play it
C&C style building has less depth strategically and enables cheesy gameplay by instantly plopping down buildings out of nowhere. It's ok in single player I guess but terrible in multiplayer
>C&C was the breakout RTS game
>C&C
Dune*
C&C was way more popular than Dune 2
I agree in that C&C was the breakout and not Dune II even though the latter was earlier. A lot of people played C&C, even people I personally know irl who weren't really PC gamers back in the 90s knew about C&C.
Not him but I feel like the MCV system is kinda pointless in the campaign (what most players play)
You can decide whether you wanna be closer to Tiberium field 1 or 2 and that's about it
I usually had MCV repacks enabled so maybe that's why I'm fine with it.
If you have a side bar building system like in most C&C games they're a necessary evil for map expansion, otherwise you just end up crawling with power plants or whichever building has the best radius to price ratio. The starting MCV is pointless but constructing extra ones isn't.
Generals came out when I was midway through highschool and I just figured they were still being experimental after they made Renegade. It's very different from RA2 but still a very fun game, and the soundtrack is in a different style but still great in its own right
Dr. Thrax was an utter joy.
I love playing as Prince Kassad against my friends. Nothing like tunneling in an army of hijackers and stealing all of their vehicles and construction bulldozers.
What. Generals and RA2 are the fan favorites of the C&C franchise.
Play as an 'Allah Ackbar'! faction. How did they get away with it?
They almost didn't, i remember the (Paper) vidya news outlets in my non-burger country getting write-ins and shit upset about it calling it offensive or "provoking". It wasn't Hot Coffee levels of butthurt, but it was definitely there. Generals is honestly a bit of a interesting cultural finger-pulse checking piece in that sense.
>Nukes Tienanmen Square and The Great Hall of the People in the first mission of China’s own campaign
>have you destroy the Three Gorges Dam drowning millions of Chinese citizens just so you can clear out some enemy bases, in the third mission
Holy based and completely banned in China
lol, Counter Strike global offense had you fighting with the IDF as the "counter-terrorists" against mostly middle eastern "terrorists" in it's most popular maps for a decade
the west absolutely approved of goyslop propaganda
The other day I read the development for this game and apparently, GLA was supposed to be this African Mad Max + Wakanda we wuz faction with lions and mutants and shit. Pretty weird.
kino
Would've been cool on paper but it's too wack even for C&C
I love that every single one of these designs would get the art department canceled today
someone had a lot of fun drawing these structures
Hey, it's KKnD
>pretending this was a shit game
Black person, literally nobody thought Generals was bad. It's one of the most loved games in the series, especially ZH.
>Only command & conquer games i never played were this and the sequel since our family PC couldn't run them
>Tried it a few years ago
The whole thing felt really cringe probably because i have no nostalgia over it
>spending 20 minutes building a base
>Superweapon general bombs your shit back to the stone age without taking any losses.
Switched to Toxic weapon general and never stopped rushing American pig dogs.
frick you granger. i hate you.
people loved this game when it came out even though I think the graphics aged like horse shit compared to tib sun and ra2
Why is Ganker so tsun for MO
>completely fricks the balance
>super special OC mary sue faction
>takes itself way too seriously
>all the fricking anime
>not even good anime influence; mary sues
Don't get me wrong, some of the shit it does with the engine is impressive, but it's ultimately chinkslop made by homosexuals.
You can like or hate the designs and influences but the balance is bretty gud and multiplayer is fun
The question I have is why is /vst/ went schizo over it.
The shitposters who got banned from its discord moved there
>discord
>shitposters who got banned from its discord
That explains the derangement I suppose.
GR2
mods are shit
1 was soul
I tried the remaster recently, and both C&C and RA1 are really kind of boring games. The balance is off and the AI makes a lot of actions a pain
Apparently there's some meta problems with the Remaster, don't have a list of them though just seen it discussed on /vst/.
Maybe, but I struggled with basic shit like what units to buy. Infantry just felt OP, until they got run over, while vehicles frequently melted to machine gun fire is you just had enough guys - and the AI's actually good at moving to avoid being ran over. It just felt bad
That's certainly part of it, but I've gone back to Dune 2 and enjoyed it. C&C just seemed unfair
I dunno if I would call them boring but replaying C&C1 after not having touched it for 25 years made me realize how much of it relies on completely failing a mission first so you know the map layout
C&C1 is peak soul
Tiberian Sun is peak aesthetics
can I get a quick rundown on the remakes and open whatever shit of these games
How about I rundown my wiener in your mouth lmao
Black person
Hi, I'm the Thief. I can do only one of the multiple things that a Spy can do and unlike the Spy I cannot disguise myself at all.
And the award for the most worthless unit of CnC goes to...
....the technician!!!
>"y-yeahhh?"
>starts shooting
>runs out of ammo
>dies
>repeatedly explodes in nuclear hellfire
>runs around panicked
>explodes more
The technician isn't an ordinary unit to buy though. It usually comes out of destroyed vehicles and buildings.
The mobile gap generator. Like, gee I wonder if this moving black fog of war that's heading my way might contain hidden enemy units...
I always thought Gap Generators were shit. In cinematics they were like a cloaking device, but didn't function at all like that in the game.
You can send multiple gap generators from different directions to confuse which side you’re approaching from though right
Going from gritty 1 to 'lol comedy, so cuhrazy' 2 was moronic
>Inb4 ants
I think 2 was still fairly gritty in some areas.
RA2 would've been perfect if they added a yuri campaign.
The plot of RA involved Einstein going back in time to kill Hitler. it was already ridiculous from the start.
Is it true that later patches on Twisted Insurrection have broken the campaign?
yes
try MO
Well that's fricked. Do you happen to know which version is best for playing the campaign only?
0.8
Great, thanks anon.
>will defend this
And what exactly am I defending?
My base? Ofcourse I'm defending that from the enemy, thats what RTS games are about.
>the joke
>your head
Why would they have mutants?
African voodoo shit I'd imagine.
Why has EA not remastered this game yet?
Including Yuri's Revenge and Generals?
They're like sitting on a goldmine and they already remastered the original C&C and RA1.
The only thing they have to make is an official map maker.
They wanted to make another mobile game.
I bet you my life savings EA made more on the shitty mobile game than they would ever on those two games.
I think the original remasters sold poorly.
They don't understand that RA2 has the potential to be the next AoE2 with a renaissance.
They confirmed that the first remaster actually sold pretty well
It's a combo of the source code for tib sun/RA2 is lost and the EA head who pushed for the remaster stepped down
>It's a combo of the source code for tib sun/RA2 is lost
It this true?
>Dun Da Dun Da Dun Da Dun Dun
>Command and Conquer modding at it's peak
>mary sue e-girl
it's beyond liquid shit
>t.brainlet who can't micromanage his units

Nice legacy RAtards lol
Tiberium Twilight is exist
>mental omega
You mean a mod not created or sanctioned by the original developer?
So like all C&C mods?
I just hate how slooooooooow infantry is in Generals and how game shits itself if you try alttabbing or lol 30fps
>got the c&c remastered collection
>give it a go
>know its early rts and its gonna be missing some qol from every rts after
>still cant bring myself to get past the first few missions
Bros...i tried.
Start with Red Alert 2.
It's not your fault, the gameplay is dated as hell and hard to enjoy without nostalgia. Just play Red Alert 2, the gameplay still holds up.
Played through all the red alert remaster missions last year. Still need to go back and do Command & Conquer. Shit was fun
Do you prefer the plant-like Tiberium from Dawn/Sun or the crystal-like Tib from 3?
The crystals thing looked really generic, so normally I'd go for the former but honestly combining both would make things look even more otherworldly.
>tfw the kino is about to begin
Such a shame this game never got the success it deserved
Looking back, RA3 wasn't all bad
What a footprostitute. That can't be regulation dress code.
no, it was pretty bad
>RA1: Campy but serious
>RA2: Intentionally campy now but still has serious moments
>RA3: DUDE BRO WE GOT THE DUDE FROM ROCKY HORROR AND HE'S SAYING SPAAAAAAAAAACE LOL LMAO HOW WACKY IS THIS SHIT MAN I'VE GOT THREE WORDS FOR YOU: FLYING ATTACK BEARS.
i feel like RA2 was 100% camp, it turned me off completely. You're right about RA3 though, that was spot on with regard to what the "humor" was
nah there were still serious moments like carville's death or chicago getting nuked. they still had the right balance in that one
Kari Wuhrer was best Tanya

Frick yes.
fricking kino
>Lone Trooper
Unironically one of the most atmospheric vidya songs I've ever heard and the best one in the CNC franchise, right after Act on Instinct.
This and Warzone 2100 OST are also fricking rad.
I love this game so fricking much
Red Alert: 80's B movie
Red Alert 2: SyFy produced movie
Red Alert 3: Michael Bay movie
Best song coming through
Just downloaded the remastered collection last night. Not sure I actually like these first 2 games that much, I think Tiberian Sun and RA2 are much better.
How did he do it?
Do what?
He was a Chrono Ivan.
Honestly I've got to say.
I'd blow every executive level in EA if it meant being given creative control over the C&C IP.
Imagine what you could do with it.
STALKER-esq survival in the yellow zones.
An X-Com-esq open campaign where you and the computer toe-to-toe for control of the world (Perfect chance to introduce/round out various factions)
Post-Earth Sci-fi with Tiberium-cult war crimes and spaceships.
that's gay mate
It's not gay if you're doing it for material benefit.
It's just prostitution.
in that case I'm in, because stalker is kino. I'd also play a tiberian sun underrail game
>Tiberian Sun Underrail
Honestly an entire RPG series set in various parts of the world could be fanfrickingtastic
>tiberian sun underrail
I didn't know that I wanted a game so badly. Holy shit.
That's Hardcore
>An X-Com-esq open campaign where you and the computer toe-to-toe for control of the world (Perfect chance to introduce/round out various factions)
>Lead either a Taskforce of GDI Commandos or a Cell of Brotherhood Black Hands
>Deal with various missions that pop up across the world in Red, Yellow, and Blue Zone
>Missions will affect your faction's world map progress
>Research Tiberium for more resources (GDI) or unit enhancement (Nod)
>Get special member such as a Wolverine or a reprogrammed Cabal Cyborg
>Late campaign dealing with Scrin infiltration forces trying to pave way for an actual invasion

HEY YOU! I REMEMBER YOU FROM THAT OTHER THREAD!
You are still a moronic homosexual. Never forget that!

Yeah, in three years I bet
Enough for me to actually finish playing the campaigns.

Congrats, you fell for scammers
Don't forget they literally had some of their people refuse to keep on modding the game because they inetended to lock 3.0 behind a patreon wall
> they literally had some of their people refuse to keep on modding the game
Good lads
Nice bait with not a single fact in it
proofs?
Why did they stop putting buildable walls in RTS games?
because they stopped making rts games
>walls
Hard to balance
Ultimate gamebreaker
Compgays hate them, turtlegays like them too much.
They're either useless or overpowered with no middle ground
every resource you spend on walls is a resource you could've spent on offense
Walls are very strong in some RTS, like Age of Mythology.
In a well-balanced match with no turtlehomosexualry walls can be more cost effective than raw units by forcing enemies to take fights in uncomfortable spots. It's only excessive walling that sets you back.
>"accidentally" leave gate open
>bait opponent into walking through it
>close gate and slice army in half
>watcher in the water to take care of the people outside the gate
>my army sweeps through what managed to make it into the walls
my walls are a weapon like anything else
hey uh how about every building has eight hidden "gap" numbers for side and corners, each unit has a "width" figure, and units can fit between them as long as the summed gap number exceeds the width figure. that would be great for new players 🙂
SHAKE IT BABY
playing sim city in RTS really activates my almonds
The only C&C game I've played, it was fun.
Play RA2.
And then YR.
>kinobox has arrived
You just gave me flashbacks to physical releases of C&C games which usually came with like 4 separate disks: installer, "help" and one for each campaign
Can I play Red Alert 2 on Windows 10 in widescreen without doing some difficult hacking and shit?
Who at EA do I have to suck off to get a Remastered Collection Vol. 2?
