>completely and utterly sabotaged by TTYD remake
Why did Nintendo not wait until at least AFTER Super Mario RPG released to announce TTYD? It just makes no sense when the latter is so far off. The Paper Mario fans desperate for a return to form/remake/fricking anything but the nu games were excited when SMRPG was revealed because either they had never played it, couldn't get into it and thinks it needs modernizatoin (hear this one a lot), or because what it represented (the BTFOing of mandategays and potential future remakes of other games). Then Nintendo goes and announces TTYD anyway before any discussion about what's next can really build up, robbing SMRPG of its thunder and lessening its significance. It doesn't feel so special anymore. They should have waited until the next direct to announce it.
Cry more you baby. SMRPG is a remake while Paper Mario is a remaster. Super Mario RPG will probably outsell Final Fantasy 16.
Thing is ttyd is a good well known game while smrpg is a shit one only manbabies care about. Smrpg will sell less by a lot.
Paper Mario is a remake too day, it uses new assets rather than just touch up on TTYD
>outsell Final Fantasy 16
Anon... it's a MARIO game. On the Switch that has 140 million units out.
Compared to an FF on the PS5. Which has 40 million units out.
This is the most obvious and safest bet in the world, of course it's going to sell more. It would be a complete shock and unexpected if it didn't.
>"What motivated you to make this announcement?"
NINTENDO: "I like money!"
Jokes aside, there is a good chance I will pick up both games regardless, if they haven't completely screwed the pooch and done shit I hate with them.
...That's probably what Nintendo is banking on. Moving on...
I pray to God they keep ~*modern day politics*~ out of these fricking remakes. Just give me the original games, don't "improve" the script by making it pointlessly topical. For that matter, I pray they don't frick with the boss fights too much, either. The giant eyeballs really brought down the Majora's Mask 3DS remake.
You missed all the threads about dialogue being changed to lunkhead. Expect more cringe Seattlean flavor in your nu game.
literally nobody fricking cares
"Listen, all we have is one molehill until they show Vivian, let us have this" is probably what some people are thinking now
I dunno dude, I think bowser is more likely to call someone a "lunkhead" than an "airhead."
Ganker is the most triggered group of sissies I've ever seen. Literally triggered over anything.
>Expect more cringe Seattlean flavor in your nu game.
Is this your first Square game?
I was thinking about getting both games but I want Mario RPG more
if you dont buy both miyamoto and tanabe will win
>Sabotages Paper Mario
9/10 Paper Mario gays were not born when SMRPG came out and only care about Paper Mario. If anything, TTYD sabotaged this game.
This tbh, I only had a passing interest in supporting the idea of Mario RPGs but now that they've announced what I really wanted my interest took a major hit
I'll be pirating and emulating both.
How is it sabotage when they come out months apart and the majority are interested in both?
The only thing I can think of is that they really wanted a surprise reveal to end the Direct on and the TTYD remake was the only thing they had ready that could really fit there.
Maybe they should've not had a Wonder direct and instead shove 10 extra minutes of Wonder in there.
That wouldn't have worked as a "one last thing", either
I'm getting both, because so far they look good. And also to hopefully help send the message that Stickershit isn't welcome anymore.
>A 2024 game will sabotage a 2023 game
They come out months apart anon, why are you making a thread about a non issue?
both will be better on emulator
That new remaster announced looked almost exactly like the original
Why pay $60?
Super Mario RPG is the superior game to TTYD
Who CARES, they're both decades old games.
I'm buying both, love both.
Black person TTYD doesn't even have a date the frick are you talking about
This is the better game. However, I don't like the changes to make an already easy game easier.
Mario RPG is short as shit and TTYD doesn't even have a hard release date.
Are we really gonna be having a war between SMRPG and TTYD? Both are great games, SMRPG is a full remake while TTYD is more of a remaster and TTYD isn't even coming till next year.
There's been a forced war between every Mario RPG for ages and I hate it, they're all wonderful games.
It got so much worse during the Sticker era, with TOK (including its prerelease leadup) seeming to result in a particularly sharp increase of it. I think we're being had by loyal 3DS/WiiUgays, boys. They seem to often be extremely resentful of anything on Switch, or even the possibility of anything on Switch, that gels with older/longertime Nintendo fans. Alongside with any implicit or explicit acknowledgements of criticisms.
It's more obvious now that the upcoming Mario "RPG"s are, y'know, actual RPGs. Anyone in their right mind should be happy about this aside from them just being remakes.
no thoughts, head empty
>sabotaged
Both titles are two of the best-aged on the systems they were made on. Neither needed to be remade/remastered/resold. Both should have been put on virtual console and not bother with reselling a reskin of decades old games for $50. I love both of these games but I'm not buying them again when I own the original cartridge and disc.
Both will sell just fine anon. They are Mario games at the end of the day. Besides. I imagine RPG and PM appeal to different crowds so it helps some that prefer one or the other knowing the other isn't being left out to dry. There is a surprising amount of PM fans that don't for M&L and vise versa. No doubt the same can apply to RPG and PM. Still both will sell because there are plenty of fans that love or will sure to love them both.
>I imagine RPG and PM appeal to different crowds
wut? Paper Mario is Super Mario RPG 2, which means TTYD is Super Mario RPG 3. Back in the day one of the main things people liked about Paper mario was that it took the timed hits system from RPG and built on it further.
I mean yeah. You aren't wrong, but I can totally see some that don't much care for the paper aesthetic compared to RPG's. Like yeah that is pretty surface level reason, but a style can certainly make or break it for some.
>Who are you talking to right now? Who is it that you think you see? Do you know how much I'll sell a year? I mean, even if I tell you, you wouldn’t believe it. Do you know what happens if I suddenly decide to stop being produced? A business big enough for its new console to have games goes belly-up. Gone. It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don’t know who you’re talking to so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Anon. I am the danger. A game releases unfinished and is dead on arrival, and you think that of me? No. I am the one who sells.
Good question. I was thinking of buying SMRPG but I’ll just wait for TTYD instead.
>Thinks TTYD sabotagued SMRPG and not the other way around
yeah this. I love TTYD but it's niche as frick compared to SMRPG which is basically an icon both in America and especially in Japan. It'll probably do as well as TOK while SMRPG will do gangbusters.
I am gonna go ahead and guess that Paper Mario (and TTYD) probably outsold SMRPG in the West. I don't know about Japan. I thought SMRPG was fairly rare? I owned it as a kid but I literally got it as a gift from an Uncle who heard I liked Mario games and found it at a store and just bought it because Mario. Get gift though, I really liked the game except for the isometric platforming.
I'm not getting either because not enough changes/improvements have been made and I still have the originals.
Add Luigi as a party member in either game and then we'll talk.
>Luigi in SMRPG as a post-game party member
>Luigi in TTYD as a small side adventure with his own partners
The best timeline...
Instead of OP's moronic shitflinging, can we talk about how cool it is that SMRPG is getting post game content? Superboss versions of all the bosses sounds like a fantastic addition to an already great game.
Imagine how hard a rematch against Culex might be if he gets one also.
I think he will considering they're hyping him up and they showed rematches in the same trailer. It'd be a missed opportunity to not give him a rematch and it seems that they're going out of their way to do stuff like that (reminder they still have not shown any bit of Star Hill, the place without a boss)
Early game bosses like Bowyer and Punchinello could be pretty nuts as superbosses too.
Imagine if they went all bravely default on us and had Smithy gang members form parties to fight us 3v3.
