Completely new player here. What's the appeal? Or when does it get good? Just follow quest markers and most tedious and boring combat ever. Almost level 20 and still only encountering braindead easy enemies that couldn't kill me even if I go AFK for a few minutes.

nostalgia and having friends that play
you missed out. just uninstall
many years ago wow was an accessible and fun way to play an mmo game (EverQuest Ultima etc. were other alternatives, or RuneScape of you were poor) and talk with equally nerdy friends who also liked Warcraft or rpgs, the gameplay always sucked but it was at least slightly challenging wrangling 40 morons to coordinate with shit internet and little knowledge of meta builds not much free time etc.
nowadays wow is a shell of that and it's for people with no life or jobs who spend all their days spamming dungeon and raid finder trying to get +2 to their item level so they can relive their highschool days and send it to their friends saying 'oh look I just did this in a raid' but they have moved on about 10+ years ago and bought houses and have successful careers and families
so yes wow sucks unless you've been playing it forever and have an attachment to it and nothing else going for you in life
wow classic was fun for about a month just to catch up with some old friends but it quickly became shit because of the influx of meta gaming homosexuals who ruined it, also the massive lack of time most people who enjoyed vanilla and wanted to try it again have these days
id rather play cod for an hour with some friends and talk shit on party chat instead of sitting around for 6 hours trying to raid on a Saturday night with a bunch of random spergs and a handful of friends
As someone who raided Molten Core and BWL when it was current content, this is an excellent assessment.
>influx of meta gaming homosexuals who ruined it
very accurate, they are the majority now though unfortunately
>Almost level 20 and still only encountering braindead easy enemies that couldn't kill me even if I go AFK for a few minutes.
oh wait you're playing retail. the leveling process is intentionally a joke so the game won't drive away more and more fickle new players. the only reason you should be playing is if you are interested in end game raiding or pvp. I would not recommend wow to any new players.
>Just follow quest markers
Yeh he's obviously not talking about vanilla.
I always wondered why was that giant elf woman looking through the window of that dwarf guy, he was so afraid of her he pulled out his rifle. Was this ever explained in the game?
Why besmirch classic with that image if you’re talking about dragonshit.
I don't think wow can really be enjoyed by new players anymore. Your best bet is classic.
Haha funny how you can instantly tell its retail from ops vague details.
Retail does not get good. You should stop immediately and swap to classic wrath or vanilla. They are both included in your sub.
>you should stop playing the good version and play the dogshit babymode ones
huh
It used to be easy to make friends in game, but all of that has been streamlined out, both by game companies and by players.
I legit can not fricking believe content creators talked about what the new player experience is like in retail and complained it was too hard. its the most boring experience to level up to me, everything is way to fricking easy. I dont care if the endgame raids are "hard" if the first 99% of the game is 100% story focused where you can auto attack stuff to death with your staff as a mage.
The game doesn't have a very good on-ramp anymore. The best time to get into the game was during the 2004-2009 period when the lore was still connected to WC3 and you could actually make sense of things, and the pace/design of the game didn't go off the rails. Nowadays the game is insanely bloated with garbage, and the leveling process does absolutely nothing to prepare you for the actual endgame experience. It's an inaccessible mess.
If you're not having fun within the first 30 minutes then the game might just not be your kind of game.
Also
>quest markers
You're playing retail thats why
if OP thinks retails combat is the "most tedious and boring combat ever" why the FRICK would you recommend classic?? you people are delusional
dude just doesnt like wow (or mmos in general)
classic really depends on class
Paladin and Shaman are fricking atrocious when it comes to leveling them. Warrior and Hunter are completely different experiences.
>*drink for 20 seconds*
>*accidentally pull 2 mobs and spend 10 minutes running back to your corpse*
wow that doesnt sound tedious at all. classicBlack folk are delusional lmao. its ok that you think classic is better than retail, but it really sounds like OP just doesnt like mmos. tab target mmos have tedious and boring combat. playing the even older version of wow with slower and more tedious combat wont somehow excite OP
in the case of fighter is more like
>1shift+2231*wait for block*41shift+23
I mean, if you suck at "aggroing" and don't know your limits then that's just a skill issue
this is some serious delusion
>I'm not wrong, everyone else is, they're insane and they're all against me
sure thing, schizo
What class are you playing that’s just 1111?
If that’s your rotation that’s a skill issue lol and no wonder you are struggling.
Any caster in vanilla is like that
Any caster in any game is like that
Classic is exactly what he wants. No quest markers to follow at all. Combat is far harder and you can most definitely die levelling and will multiple times.
There is a reason classic hardcore is called hardcore. Not dying in vanilla is really hard.
Retails combat (while levelling) is boring because of the reasons OP listed, enemies are never a threat and you can just mash your hands on your keyboard to hit whatever ability is off cooldown. You try doing that in classic and you'll die.
Uninstall now for your own health. I did uninstall it at Level 42 in 2005 and never played it again. This game is and always will be fricking moronic.
Skill issue and filtered.
I agree with this. However, I don't regret wasting a whole month of my life playing it 24/7 and then never touching it again. Served as a fricking depression buffer or some shit. Came out of that hole with 2 jobs and wanting a fricking family, holy shit this game sucks.
And yet here you are still talking and thinking about wow.
Knowing you never made it to level cap.
Joke's on you, I never cared about that. Besides now that my life is on track I can definitely find me some time to play for a while. I mean, it's not like I was serious about the whole family thing, and I don't even like that second job. I think I'm gonna pay a year sub, just in case.
Feels good being productive.
>I played an MMO for less than a month so I get to have an opinion on it!!!!!
die
>Imagine playing an MMO longer than a month
laugh
>Just follow quest markers
Vanilla has no quest markers, unless you cheat
You are about 20 years too late. The game today is nothing like it was when it launched.
I was in your shoes in 2019 when classic launched, never tried wow just playing vanilla for the first time and the appeal was the fact if I saw a horde player I could just attack him and kill him
Speaking from experience, consider playing the first Lineage 2 chronicles on a private server. I recommend Elmorelab. There is no pay to win stuff and a 100% authentic server from back in the day.
Get pic related guide and enjoy your trip. Playing this game blindly and for the first time is one of the best adventures I've had in years.
About WoW, stay away from Blizzard.
Play on the Turtle private server.
lineage 2 aged terribly, all the enemies are literal 2d sprites
