I actually didn't mind the art style and I think D3 still looks very good today because of it. Everything else about it was trash at launch though. I was looking forward to that game for five years after it was announced and I dropped it inside of a month after release.

I bought d3 back in 2014 after spending some 50 hours or so doing surveys online to pay for it, my gf bought me the expansion a few months later. I loved d3 and ended up paying full price for d4. enjoyed my first playthrough, dropped it after the second season. I'll never forgive blizzard for cramming it with mtx.
i really like diablo 3. played it on a switch emulator, so didnt even touch the online stuff. story was dogshit but the actual feel of the combat was very good. liked it a lot more than 2. haven't played 4 yet but it looks cool. is it just 3 but better?
D3 has the best gameplay loop in Greater Rifts.
D4 will have rifts soon but it's movement abilities are still trash in comparison. D2 is for boomer morons who pretend to play games. D1 has god tier atmosphere that carries it but thats about it.
Played for a weekend as I do most seasons because that's all the game is good for, one single weekend. Builds come online too fast to put any more time than that into it.

I still think loot 2.0 was a mistake and made it worse than launch and all the auction house debacles
How so? Loot was so bad at launch it basically forced you to buy off the AH or you couldn't progress into Inferno.

Diablo 3 had less players than Diablo 2, just 1 month after release. This hasn't changed, even in 2024 D2 is still more popular.
