The only reason consoles existed in the first place was because most people were too moronic to set up a computer that could properly play video games. This isn't the case anymore, as even 12 year olds are building gaming PCs. I wouldn't be surprised if around 30 years from now consoles completely cease to exist.
>consoles die out
>everyone moves to PC
>steam gets hammered with PSN,E-Shop, and Microsoft store
>Each former console manufacturer convinces AMD and Nvidia to allow hardware specific features for their game releases
>people buy 3 PCs with branded parts to keep up with exclusive Microsoft, Nintendo, and PlayStation releases
Nothing will change.
The moment consoles die, Steam will die. Valve will have to compete with online storefronts that are bigger than them and actually make games.
>that are bigger than them
heh
Consoles used to have something unique to them. Now the only console that does that is the switch.
consoles are cheaper and convenient
I think it's more the case the browns can't even put together the slightly more advanced Legos that modern consumer PCs are.
brown people mostly play on PC moron
Prebuilts, laptops, hand me downs.
so in other words you're saying PC games will have to be built for shit that's less powerful than a Nintendo Switch because that's the majority of the audience.
>moving the goalposts
also
>Prebuilts, laptops
more expensive than building a PC or buying a console
you're defeating your own arguments moron
>m-muh browns!!
Idiot
Look at that cable management. Atrocious. Complex systems will not survive the competency crisis.
>air cooler
Nice screen tearing homosexual
Throw away 1/144 frames and turn on V-sync
It's not that just that PC gaming to simpler, console gaming has really started to shit the bed, despite supposedly being the simpler, more plug-and-play solution
>Buy game from store
>Console needs to update
>Controller (which cost 60/70$) firmware needs installing
>Put disc in
>Need to download/install the whole game anyways
>Need to install an extra 30 GB of patches
>Have to subscribe to multiplayer extortion tax
>Still need to get on discord VC if playing with friends (which is garbage process compared to Alt+Tab), since local multiplayer (unless fighting game or Nintendo) is dead
>See all the "exclusive" games end up on PC anyways unless Nintendo or Bloodborne
Why bother?
Cause all that is still simpler than PC
>buy game, it downloads and patches itself automatically in one click
>plug in controller
>play
The reason why I don't pirate games is because Steam is more convenient. It just works. And if there is some rare game that doesn't, the first thing on Steam's community page is how to fix it in 5 minutes.
Nice lies bro
>Buy game from store
Get a load of this boomer. The rest of your list is just as stupid.
I thought consoles existed to bring arcade games to the home?
Consoles will never die. They are easy to optimize for, they have proprietary stores and DRM, they are the goyslop replacement for idols of divine worship because modern society doesn't provide psychedelic experiences to get it out of the system as a rite of passage.
I have an expensive PC and consoles and I play games on PC as I gave up on consoles for various reasons. But the day Gabe Newell is absorbed back to the source, I fear that day. His son is a frickup and the company will probably go public and it will be the end of PC gaming with somewhat fair customer practices. GOG is too small to matter. I bet the c**ts at Ubishit, EA, ActiBlizzard are praying to Moloch to speed Gaben's departure.
>His son is a frickup and the company will probably go public and
I don't see why Gabe wouldn't give it to somebody else he's groomed for the role if his son isn't trustworthy tbh
>out of touch shutin in doesn’t realize computer literacy is dropping off a cliff with youth
No, it's because it's comfy to sit on your sofa with a controller in front of your big tv and play on dedicated hardware/OS that minimises friction and setup hassle
Violent and Stupid

Are you moronic? The only people with desktop computers these days are professionals and pc gamers. Back in the day we all got into pc gaming because desktops were the only computers, so when our dad bought a desktop, we then put games on it. These days, Joe Normie doesn't own a desktop anymore. He has a phone and a tablet and MAYBE a cheap laptop. His kids are growing up with a phone, a tablet, and whatever console he buys them. PC Gaming is growing increasingly niche. Don't get me wrong, it's not dying by any means. It exists and will continue to exist as the high end product. If you are serious about gaming, you'll build a PC. If gaming is a casual or transient hobby, you'll get a console or a phone.
