Slightly autistic crafting game with slice of life stories and simple JRPG bog standard combat. Ryza and Sophie are good ones to start with, they're both pretty laid back affairs with no time limits. The earlier games have in built time limits that force you to optimize play, so if that's your thing, maybe try one of those instead, like the Totori or Rorona series. Each set of games focuses on a different alchemist with different twists on the alchemy system.
Less action focused, no convoluted overarching plot, simpler visuals. Ryza 2 actually switched to an ATB system over a more conventional turn-based setup that works pretty well, and crafting usable items is more about optimizing your synthesis for the best final result and stacking bonuses over sheer volume, since crafted items are now inserted into a core crystal system and cast from a shared MP pool as opposed to earlier games where crafted consumables were lost upon use.

Yeah but what's stopping you from at least getting a cheap ass gamepad? It's a worthwhile investment for many games on PC.
