On Steam I can just plug in controller and 9 times out of 10 it will just work and even have PS buttons in-game. For one odd game I have to enable Steam input which emulates Xbox controller = Xbox button prompts.
It doesn't work natively through bluetooth but for steam games steam takes care of the connection and makes it work, and for stuff like emulation you still have to use ds4windows
>and for stuff like emulation you still have to use ds4windows
Lies and slander, Dualsense works natively with Windows, Mac and Linux. Only time I need to pull out that horrid program is when I use a DS3.
ds4windows is garbage and loves to break hidhide
rewasd is much better but it's a paid software
most emulators use sdl2 and support dualshock and dualsense natively and even let you use gyro
It works but the biggest problem with using the controller for PC is that you will have to make some sacrifices. Some functionality of the controller is unfortunately locked. I haven't been able to get the inbuilt mic to work properly on multiplayer games. Most games don't even have DualShock 4 glyphs, let alone Dualsense glyphs. The trigger resistance also doesn't work over bluetooth.
To get the most out of this controller, you have to use it wired and preferably with some third party software like DS4Windows or DualsenseX to add some level of that functionality into games that don't even have base support for PS5 controllers. And if you're using Windows, then you'll have to pick up the firmware updater because unlike with an Xbox controller, it isn't built into the preinstalled Xbox program. I believe Linux also might have better support for this controller than with Windows because the drivers are already built into the kernel.
Even despite all of that though, it still mogs every other controller on the market, because even if you're not using ALL of the functionality, you're still getting the same level or sometimes even more functionality than with an Xbox controller granted you're using something like Steam, which automatically emulates xinput if your PS5 controller isn't supported. This thing's default is being a better Xbox controller in 99% of usecases so it's definitely worth buying for PC usage.
t. Played on Xbox One S controller for nearly a decade.
Thank you anon. So from my understanding it works just about the same as DualShock 4 on Steam and I don't have to emulate xinput with dualsense where I wouldn't have with dualshock 4? This is the thing that interests me the most. I am satisfied with dualshock 4 (it's wired all the time) but the micro usb is not the best jack. Dualsense is much better in this regard.
How would you rate dualshock 3, 4 and dualsense ergonomically and in terms of build quality? Do the back triggers on dualsense feel sturdy?
I'm using the DS Edge emulating an Xbox One controller because I like symmetric sticks and want triggers stops and back buttons. That's it. Oh and I want the controller to work reliably. I had a vanilla DS since launch with zero issues and the same goes for the Edge. I play with 0% deadzone and never developed stick drift, or at least one that isn't beyond any game's deadzone since most games have hard ~5-10% deadzone you can't disable.
I tried Elite Series 2 but that piece of shit has shit face buttons with bad contact that often drop inputs and the sticks are awfully wobbly. And it dropped connection on me a few times that wasn't the battery running out. All within the return period.
Controllers are stuck at the stage they were when normalgays started imprinting on them in the 2000s. >This came with my DVD player that also plays games, it's the best controller >I need to play multiplats and they all only have Xinput or are designed around the deliberate foibles of the 360, it's the best controller
And that spills over onto the wider market because the company won't risk not being compatible with Xbox again.
Specialty controllers maybe, when you start getting into sim controllers like flightsticks.
Low-build quality, obsolete chinkshit that pinches pennies and forces incompatibility isn't worth 200+ though.
can anyone redpill me on cheap chinktrollers vs expensive first party ones
why the frick are they so cheap/expensive
The expensive first party ones know they can get away with bullshit.
None of them have back buttons, and once you get used to them you'll never come back. There are some chink third party mods that to add back paddles on dualsense though. I've been using this one for almost 2 years and they've been working fine so far.
Most of them are not plug and play and require you to open the controller to install them, but its not hard to install if you're not an absolute moron.
Most of them are not plug and play and require you to open the controller to install them, but its not hard to install if you're not an absolute moron.
This one is plug and play but it uses the usb-c port making you unable to play it wired.
I always bind jump/slide/Dodge on them so i dont have to move my thumb from the right thumbstick to press X/O to dodge/jump/Crouch. Its very useful for action and FPS games ( If you play FPS games on controller lul )
the expensive ones don't do anything different than the cheap ones other than meme features you don't need
the cheap ones as long as you buy third party are better quality as long as you research
Chinkpads usually have better QC and they use more premium features like hall-effect sticks and mechanical face buttons that you won't find on the standard first-party controller.
Xbox Series controller is the worst fricking official controller I've ever had, that thing is painstakingly designed to break. The face buttons have a design flaw in them that causes the input detection to be unreliable. The sticks are prone to drifting. Guess what is actuating the bumper inputs? A VERY thin piece of cheap plastic that will break off (I had to take the fricking controller apart just to glue the tiny piece of plastic back that snapped off, just to make the fricking bumper work again.) What a piece of shit.
I hate that the DualSense has crippling flaws. If it had more battery life and hall-effect sticks it'd kick so much ass. Using the touchpad as a sort of "M1" middle bumper is quite fun on PC where you can freely map controls.
The only other issue is that the face buttons (O X Tri Sq) are mushier than DS4 and are curved along the controller contour, like now the modern Xbox controllers' buttons are. never liked that about them.
The worst thing is, that's not even the DusalSense, that's the pro version, and the battery life is even worse because they had to make room for the other features
Yeah but it's sort of boring now that they've all been standardized. Back in the day we used to get meme tier abominations like the N64 controller and pic related. You zooms don't know what you missed out on.
With the advent of gyro we should return to these single stick controller designs anyway.
A right stick is such a limited input method and gyro allows for other inputs to just werk.
The N64 controller becomes an optimal multipurpose controller by allowing the DPad or left analog stick to be held in the appropriate ergonomic grip.
It really is just like phones. They're all standardized and sanitatized rectangle shaped touchscreens these days, but before 2017 or so conpanies would constantly churn out batshit insane designs that were barely functional but a lot of fun to see. Closest thing to weird shit js foldables and even they are slowly getting optimized and standardized.
All major first parties are basically running a scam designing controllers with the intention that they break and need to be replaced after 6 months. They're targeting soccer moms whose kids spend all day on minecraft and will just buy a new controller because they don't realise they're getting scammed. It's the biggest scam of our times and there should be a class action lawsuit for it, especially when they cost so much now
One day I woke up and every online PC shooter suddenly implemented controller support with aimassist and made playing with a mouse almost impossible. I want to go back.
Dont buy Edge, its a overpriced garbage. Buy a normal Dualsense, buy a back paddle mod on aliexpress and mod it yourself ( its pretty easy ). Its much cheaper and some of them add even more features than edge ( turbo, macros etc )
I modded a DS with extremerate paddles and then bought the Edge. The Edge is much nicer overall and the paddles are positioned better. IMHO it's worth it. The thing is so expensive because it's hilariously over-engineered which you can see if you open it up.
Is 8bitdo the only affordable wireless controller option that uses the playstation layout? I was expecting more chinkpads to have it but all I see are Xbox and Switch Pro clones.
true
real yakuza
My homie
How is dualsense support on PC? Does it work without issues like dualshock 4?
Yes.
it works fine and DS4 works fine roo. the problem is games not supporting ps controllers to begin with. blame the games not the controllers
On Steam I can just plug in controller and 9 times out of 10 it will just work and even have PS buttons in-game. For one odd game I have to enable Steam input which emulates Xbox controller = Xbox button prompts.
And by controller I mean DualShock 4 so I am wondering if anything is different (worse) with dualsense.
If the games you play already have DualShock 4 support then you don't have to worry

Is this thing worth +200? What does it do?
>Is this thing worth +200?
no controller is worth that much
for that amount of money you can get pic related and have every base covered
Controllers are stuck at the stage they were when normalgays started imprinting on them in the 2000s.

Made in the same sweatshops, except chinkpads have more features due to chinks not giving a frick about patents or whatever.
Chinkpads usually have better QC and they use more premium features like hall-effect sticks and mechanical face buttons that you won't find on the standard first-party controller.

sure, but $200 cool?
I wish the PS5 controller didn't feel like MadCatz circa 2005. Awful materials were used.
Thoughts on the Gamesir G7 SE? What are its pros and cons?
everytime you turn it on it says GOOD MORNING SIR thats my biggest gripe
YOU WILL NOT REDEEM

so fricking bad uuughhhh.
>is scandalously overpriced and is going to have joystick drift two months later
From a israeli point of view they are cool indeed
Anyone owning a steam controller and a ds4/dualsense and can say how do the touchpads compare to the steam controller ones in terms of accuracy?
All I need.
Yeah but it's sort of boring now that they've all been standardized. Back in the day we used to get meme tier abominations like the N64 controller and pic related. You zooms don't know what you missed out on.

my favorite controller tbh. this thing literally sits in your hand perfectly.

Not PS3 controllers, I swear mine keep breaking. At least PS4 ones work with it, but without rumble and sixaxis.
Is 8bitdo the only affordable wireless controller option that uses the playstation layout? I was expecting more chinkpads to have it but all I see are Xbox and Switch Pro clones.
how did they get away with a 1000 mah battery
