Why the frick would I do that?
Buy a Mayflash F500 V2.
Install Seimitsu LS-32/40 and PS-14-G buttons.
There's your Neo Geo.
>le shitty budget arcade games BUT AT HOME
The only really worthwhile neogeo game is Metal Slug and that didn't come out until way after the PS1 and Saturn launched.
Blazing Star and Eight Man are awesome.
>Eight Man
Is it based on the anime movie? I remember watching it in the early 90s.
The Sengoku games (1-3) are fun too for beat-em ups.
Apparently it's a manga. I just discovered it through the game though.
Speak for yourself, I always preferred SNK to Capcom or Namco
not true. there area shit ton of good Neo Geo games.
Top Hunter. Mutation Nation. Spinmaster. Street Hoop. Aero Fighters 2 and 3. Shock Troopers. And others i cant remember right now. playing on a neo geo emulator in the early 2000's was kino.
Its games have hundreds of people playing them on fightcade.
it has some gud gaems
when are we getting a port of Red Green Blue White
it jusdt the test-screen bubby
Imagine ruining a Soul Edge cab for neo gayo
see
Blazing Star
Twinkle Star Sprites
Prehistoric Isle
SvC Chaos
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Magical Drop series
Aero Fighters series
Samurai Shodown
Has several other shmups like Andro Dunos and Fast Striker which were later unofficially ported to Dreamcast, plus quirky sports titles like Windjammers. Bulk of its library is literally just KoF and Metal Slug games, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. Technically had better tech than Genesis and SNES but a much smaller library in comparison.
NGPC is also worth checking out even if only for Sonic, Cotton, and a few other titles,
There's really no comparng it to snes and genesis, it's many times more powerful in just about every way. in comparison it's library might look small but 150 titles released to one kind of acade hardware is massive. and prehistoric isle is pre-neo geo SNK, it's sequel is on it though.
SVC CHAOS GOATED!!! FUUUCK YEAH!!!
If you need to be convinced it’s not for you, frick off we’re full
What shiny buttons did you install in this thing?
Why no AES?
because its a ripoff for what it is
and i already have several mvs boardscarts
& built my own cabinet
if i can find an aes with mvs converter for under 500$ i might consider it
but its kinda ridiculous to invest in that for literally no reason
although i do agree that
aes+mvs converter+unibios is the best option
qanba metallic buttons
via arcadeshock
they feel good
not as good as gamerfinger but quite good
ay yo homey yo ass is missin the NGP and GBA gaems fo sho
i sold my neopocket ;_;
im still building the collection but
im not too fond of the idea of getting assraped on ebay
what's that yellow cart
probably one of those shitty 161 in 1 chinese multicarts
it is
normally i wouldn't recommend it
as many of the titles have unplayableunbeatable endings due to anti-piracy measures
but it DID get me into KoF romhax
its actually fun
i didnt have that much fun playing golf since nes as a bored 7 yr old
i think its the OST honestly
Are these any good?
that poster is a moron
he posted the empty plastic box for $20+ international shipping
as a starting point i recommend it as your "first" cart
then once you know what titles you actually want you can go for those
then the autism strikes
and you will want "original romschipsunmodified" aka non-conversions
then the final autismo step is
holofoil label intact original roms unmodified tested working kek
since no flashcart solution exists that is reasonable the 160 is decent for the price
however if youre gonna spend top dollar i would just get a neo arcade stick pro and add hylo
you get the whole retail library and some cps12
schizophasia
i didnt say that i was personally down that rabbithole anon
im simply stating facts
foil labels and OG unmodified carts command high prices on ebay
you can get a conversion of basically anything now so i do see why you would spend hundreds on puzzle bobble
in the arcade collecting world youre dealing with business owners, hardcore neurotics , importers, etc
originals are always worth more than bootlegs
i DO have some foil labels though
blazing star
metal slug 2
king of fighters 98
Lets check Paul Allen's Neo Geo collection
Yo where'd you pickup that DOJ poster? I can only find the black label art but WL is much cleaner
i have a commercial laser printer in my office
i waste so much toner on dumb stuff kek
i used "neodb15" from aliexpress but anything is prob fine - people on etsy can cut acrylic for you then your artwork can be whatever you want underneath
easy route would be like what other anon said just use an existing stick and customize it
building from scratch i think has its benefits though- my supergun setup doesnt have any superfluous buttons and shit
Dont listen to them, listen to me.
Kabuki Klash
Impossible. I'd need to convince you to get a job or a friend. We both know neither is gonna happen.
New 8bitdoodoo controller, need it or keep it?
>Spottemgottem and Pooh Shiesty linked up need it or keep it?
Idk how is it? I feel like i need it but perhaps the person offering the proposition should keep it.
What's up with the Neo Geo shilling lately? The thing is more powerful than Genesis and SNES but "many times more" is a silly exaggeration
Can have 3 times the sprites on screen over snes, 8 times the simulataneous colors, processor's clocked twice the speed of the genesis. so where's the exaggeration
is that "many times more powerful"? Or just a couple?
The biggest Neo Geo advantage over other 16-bit consoles was the ROM size available to the developers. Some Genesis titles like Alien Soldier look impressive even by Neo Geo standards. But once you want to use many animation frames on Genesis like in the fighting games, you are stuck with essentually 10 times less ROM size than what Neo Geo had at the time. Modern homebrew stuff confirms that Genesis could run Real Bout Special almost arcade perfect, with worse color palette though.
That wasn't the only advantage. The thing was a pixel powerhouse.
Did it also have an advantage over Saturn and PS1 in regards to 2D?
PS1 and Saturn were gimped in RAM memory. Technically both had much better capabilities (unlimited sprites, much higher color palette, real transparencies in case of PS1, real scaling and rotation) than Neo Geo but stock memory size did not allow good animation and sound quality. Regardless, Saturn with 4Mb RAM cart runs arcade perfect CPS2 ports
Magician Lord is sweet.
Better games than the geneshart and snooze
Hard Corps > Metal Slug
Hahaha
HAHAHAHA
Nice troll attempt
>ruining a soul edge cab
anon i got the cab on craigslist for $65
the soul edge marquee is metal and custom made via etsy
the control panel is also custom neo layout with siemitsu buttons
the cab is jamma now
i have pcb for soul edge, tekken 2, and handful of mvs boards
it was a fun project
to cover the homosexual artwork on the sides i used peel&stick wallpaper from amazon
now its darkwood
you can build one too on the cheap
the hyperkin genesis hdmi adapters work well with supergunminigun
you dont need an expensive cgargb setup
everything works fine
the monitor is mid anyways no need to overspend
If it don't use a CRT then it ain't a real arcade cabinet.
moronic dick-swinging
i have several crt
my setups are modular
keene electronics makes a 0-latency rgb>svideo adapter if you MUST play on a consumer crt (i do often, as some pcb are so god damn finnicky its the only way to avoid display issues)
anyways you're homosexual kek
LCD arcade cabinets are queer as Freddie Mercury, just sayin'.
a crt is not going to fit in a 1up cabinet unless i remove the back and use a corner-setup
i have considered it but its easier to just play on a normal tv like a normal human
if i can find a local cab that isn't comically large i will probably pick it uprefurb it
in person the display looks fine
its an lvds display so signal chain=
lvds<vga<rgb<cga
the fact that you can convert that chain without having latency issues is a feat in itself
what a time to be alive
You have put a plastic bubble on the back. Even real arcade cabinets did this sometimes.
It says a lot that all I need to do is post a cat pic and you can immediately identify at least one thing you're doing horribly wrong.
>i really strawman cope?
Yes. Yes you do.
>ok kid
kids. lol
you really think hdmi cabs dont exist and havent existed in japan for a considerable amount of time?
ok kid
No, the CPS2 board was better in every way and considering the presence of 3D boards like Sega Model 2, it's a wonder SNgay continued supporting Neogeo after 1995. They got lucky with KOF.
Why are you still here? Your falseflagging fails every time. Fatal Fury 3 sucks btw.
Hes an auster just ignore him
>differing opinion offered
>UR THIS DESIGNATED SHITPOSTER
Holy shit this board is fricking moronic, gay, and dead.
>Fatal Fury 3 sucks
wtf why
>worst roster in the series
>3 lane system is bunk
>geese ends up dying in the half-assed asset dump sequel instead
>worst roster in the series
That goes for vanilla FF2 or FF1 if were only going by the arcade version.
>3 lane system is bunk
The real bout series had that, it's also much more refined than the 2 planes in FFS.
Did you genuinely wanted Geese to live forever like Bison before SF5 or something?
>Fatal Fury 3 sucks btw.
>he doesn't appreciate all the Woolsey-esque localization choices
>Woolsey-esque localization choices
Woolsey spoke English unlike the Japs at SNK. Also
>defending localization
Neo Turf Masters, simple as.
Is the neosd flashcart any good?
Owning a Neo Geo seems like a cool idea but in practice so many of the games suffer from slowdown that it isn't really worth buying even if you do get the games for cheap
A lot of Neo Geo games also have issues with the carts themselves like Metal Slug X having its copy protection crap out and Puzzle Bobble sound issues
Just emulate and you'll be happier
It's too expensive just use a mister and any arcade stick you want
SNK failed so hard their owned by Arabs now
They are now forced to add Allah as end boss in their next KoF game
>Convince me to play this thing.
Come on, do it.
well shit im convinced
Why would I try to convince you to play the gimped home version of the MVS?
How is it gimped? It's the exact same hardware.
Imitation controller. More expensive. Worse RGB output without modding. Less options without modding.
Best thing AES has is practice mode.
>Less options without modding
Such as?
AES has
-Limited continues.
-Smaller range of difficulty options.
MVS Has
-control over the credit/difficulty display.
-control over the flashing screen in some games where this feature is missing in the AES version
-some nice book-keeping features to keep track of how much you've been playing that are missing with the AES unless you do a BIOS mod.
aes with unibios and recap plus mvs conversion adapter is the best of everything and the ideal setup
i recommend building your own db15 arcade sticks
>i recommend building your own db15 arcade sticks
What should I use as housing?
Mayflash F500.
It's as cheap to buy the whole complete stick as it is to buy a decent empty custom case.
And the Mayflash has the correct mounting points for an LS-32 or LS-40.
With careful modding it should be possible to add Neo Geo functionality to the F500 without needing to gut it.
Or you could use an Undamned USB decoder:
https://paradisearcadeshop.com/products/undamned-usb-decoder-plus-by-ud-game-tech
This converter adds 1ms of lag. The F500 has about 2-3ms of lag (after firmware updates), so 4ms of lag total. Which is less than one half of one frame. People play in the highest caliber fighting game tournaments using these adapters so lag is not really a worry.
That's a bad ass product
So basically just strip everything that was unique about the AES away and turn it into a console-ized MVS.
I can't imagine any of that matters if I'm playing the MVS versions on my AES using a NeoSD anyway.
AES games have real Versus modes though
it's always gay not being able to change your character until you lose
>gimped
>the MVS
Just embarrassing
read it again, dimwit-kun
How many different "the MVS" models do you have, dimwit-kun?
Even worse, you're an ESL.
>thinks multiple different things are "the"
>calls others esl
Zoomer in full damage control mode
"The MVS" is a perfectly valid term to describe the entire MVS platform, moron.
It doesn't need to mean any specific variation.
Only for zoomers looking to buy a consolized MVS on ebay. Grownups who work with the things understand there are substantial differences between models. It's beyond moronic to shitpost about differences between AES/MVS and then cry when someone points out there are differences between MVS versions. You reek of cope and tidepods.
You're just an idiot with poor critical reading skills.
NTA.
>waaahhhhh
lololol
>SNK themselves called it "the multi video system"
They also call it "the neo-geo system". So according to your zoomerlogic you're misnaming things when you distinguish between AESs and MVSs. Cope harder
>Nobody gets into an autistic hissyfit if someone says "the Megadrive" to refer to the entire family of hardware that can play Megadrive games.
No. But they laugh at your moronic ass when you say "the Megadrive" when discussing hardware variations. Which is exactly what's happening here.
The Neo Geo system covers both the MVS and the AES. You are an idiot who doesn't understand normal English syntax. Not responding to you anymore.
>cites japanese/engrish ad
>cries about "normal english syntax"
lmaooooooo.
>Not responding to you anymore.
I accept your concession.
you lost boy
babies be mad
What an obnoxious post.
you are the same autist who was sperging about the neo geo/puzzle bobble thing a few months ago, arent you?
SNK themselves called it "the multi video system" several times right here
Saying "The MVS" refers to the entire family of MVS units. Which is how people talk about every platform or console.
Nobody gets into an autistic hissyfit if someone says "the Megadrive" to refer to the entire family of hardware that can play Megadrive games. They know what you're talking about.
baseball stars 2 makes even the boring slog that is baseball into a thrilling and fast experience
B-B-B-BASEBALL STARS T-T-T-TWO
Reminder that you don't need to play every system and every hidden gem. Just play the games you wanna play.
I would get an MVS, but the Jamma converter thing for composite is more expensive than the MVS unit would be. I'll just get that new 8bitdo Neo Geo controller and call it a day as a poorgay.
8shitdo controller
>neo geo guise!!!!
>doesn't work with original hardware whatsoever
what did they mean by this
Use an adapter with the supergun is what I was thinking.
