Its how you identify items in the roguelitelike mystery dungeon uh I forget the proper genre name part of the game.
Also, theres a part where you find the girls weak spots and rub em till "water" fills the screen. You then use the "water" which differs from girl to girl to water the garden of flowers for items.

No, you can only change resolutions. You need external tools if you want resolution higher than 1080p. I used Lossless Scaling to upscale it to 4k with AMD FSR and it looks great on my LG C2 OLED.
