Corporate Headquarters Development Center, Building No. 2

https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXZQOUF091LS0Z00C23A8000000/
>Nintendo announces that their new development headquarters is being delayed from 2027 to 2028
>But the reason is because they're making so much fricking they decided to slap an additional floor to the thing, going up to 13 floors.
>Also announced that they're cancelling all plans to move any existing staff to the new building, instead Corporate Headquarters Development Center, Building No. 2 will be entirely dedicated to forming completely new development teams
Nintendo is just humiliated this entire industry with how much money they're printing, and it's only going to increase 13 fold once this new building is completed.

When you're over bloated with redundant employees and all you do is buy other over bloated companies with redundant employees, it's not a surprise to have over 100k employees but it's also not something to be proud about.

How do you just fill a new 13 floor development building? Can you really just hire people on mass? But Nintendo is known to be super picky avout who they hire. Also Nintendo is now guarenteed to dominate the 2030s

They said adding the 13th floor is to cater to a "long-term increase in development personnel" so it's likely they will slowly fill up the building over many years.

If they have one that flops they'll be forced to seriously reconsider their strategy because they don't have a handheld to fall back on

There will be no more flops.
Mainline Pokemon is all they need to boost the sales of any console.

But it is the handheld to fall back on. The handheld line and the home console line are now one in the same. A Nintendo handheld has never flopped. As much as I hate that series, it's pretty clear that no console with mainline Pokemon games can flop. The people who think the next console will flop because of a percieved cycle are fricking morons

Yeah agreed. Such a shame too since game freak can't make a 3D game for the life of them but the series still sells record amounts.

Monolith had frick all discipline through most of their history, on top of near zero experience developing game.

Took till xenosaga 3 to get used with proper dev tools and such. Nintendo slapped them hard with Xenoblade by requesting a game first ,and have a very short leash when comes to new ideas and game scope.

Sounds harsh but really works, even for incompetent ass fricks like mercury stream, and nobody ever complains.

                This is peak moronic ignorance.
Xenosaga 1 was a huge success
The frick up with Xenosaga 2 wasn't even on them as that was forced over to a different dev to save money.
Xenosaga was one of the best looking games on PS2 and was a phenomenal game, just got screwed over because of XS2.
XB1 was the biggest game they ever made and one of the largest game worlds that existed at the time, just held back by Wii hard but was also impressive because they pulled it off on the Wii U.
Xenoblade X is one of the most ambitious open worlds ever made and was the foundation for the creation of Breath of the Wild and why they a key part of that game's development.
Xenoblade 2 got screwed over because they only had 40 people left over who weren't on BotW duty and had to outsource a lot, but even then the game does some impressive stuff and helped improve their modeling and animation skills that would truly take fruit in Xenoblade 3.

Monolith needed a tard wrangler hard.

Neither SE or namco had proper leash on them, on top of that first XB game wasn't even supposed to be a xeno game.

Square screwing them over because they refused to give any extra money for anything not final fantasy was not on them.
The new CEO after the Bandai Namco merger screwing them over was also not on them.
                moron.

Not Square Enix, just Square. Monolithsoft was founded in 1999
Talks for the merger only began in 2000 and wasn't completed until 2003.
But what he said is still obviously true, though it's not particularly related to this thread. Remember it was because of Spirits Within that Xenogears didn't get a sequel
